Operation Hammerfall | Sith Empire Invasion of Mandalore and Concord Dawn [OOC]

I think non-combatants would be more fitting, as Mandalorian society doesn't really have civilians. Not when Mothers and their Children are fighters.

T'is a bit tricky to define what a civilian is, in a martial/warrior culture.

Marina DeVoe

Not a flight attendant... just a risk.
Women in their late trimesters can't be expected to fight...neither can newborns or toddlers.
I suspect the very elderly would rather die in their armor, than flee.... but perhaps we humanitarians can convince them to help us with the evacuations of expected mothers and infants.
Then of course there are the wounded...the lesser caste of farmers and such. They can't be expected to die under the iron boots of the sith scourge.

I don't expect diplomatic immunity and such for Marina from either factions. Honestly I don't expect anything but my character's willingness to aid those whom cannot fight against the hordes of sadistic siths.

Ok, so that was mostly IC. But you get my drift in this upcoming tale. :)

[member="Marina DeVoe"] - You've noted that I stated non-combatants, yeah?

I just want to be clear, as everything you've mentioned pretty much falls into that category, and doesn't really jive with the idea of who or what the Mandalorian people are. However, this is Chaos where everything is open to personal interpretation - so if that's what you want to roll with, then please by all means - don't let me stop you.

:)

Down to tussle with anyone on the Mandos side for my first PVP since my return!

I think Mandalorians would definitely have people that fall into the civilian category. Sure, everyone is expected to be able to defend themselves, but even the strictest martial cultures didn't send women, children and the elderly into battle. Such a society would not last very long if it did, because it simply wouldn't be able to reproduce itself. Women and the elderly would only pick up a weapon if there was no other choice. Obviously this is Star Wars where gender is handwaved away, but that still leaves children, the elderly, and pregnant women who can't fight. Then of course there is the slave class. I think the proposition is perfectly reasonable.

[member="Jor Kvall"] - While the Clans of Mandalore had slaves in the past, canonically speaking, they've taken quite the stance against those who enslave others. In addition to this, Mandalorian children as young as eight years old accompany their fathers for military and survival training. Being Pregnant or Elderly doesn't change the warrior's heart that beats within the breast of a Mandalorian; for through them warriors are born and taught.

As I stated before, they're non-combatants at best due to their military training - not civilians. However, if they engage anyone in combat - preemptively defending themselves or otherwise - then they'll be considered combatants.

While I respect your right to an opinion and the ability to voice it, I think it would be better off if this discussion is tabled for another time as it's nothing more than semantics flavoured by one person's perception over another.

Big point on Mandalorian "Civilians" would be that not every Mandalorian can afford a full suit of Beskar'gam. Most Mandalorians in "normal" societal roles would be in flak vests and "casual" leather armor, but I would also expect almost everyone to have a knife and a pistol on them at all times.

Think of it like North Korea suddenly invading Texas.

Billy-bob might not be mounting up with the National Guard, but he'll be holding a rifle and a beer can. Ret'lini.

The forgotten son of the Sith Emperor will be making his glorious debut this invasion. Beware, mandalorians. ;P

Was Gilamar applying to be an ally of the Sith or the Mandos? You marked him as Sith on the front page, but I thought he was pushing for Mando.

[member="Adenn Kyramud"]

I think you missed an ally request.
