[SIZE=10.6666666666667px]It was worth it though, any other time in his life and he would have been out of the battle for the entire day afterwards, but instead Khal could just walk on by and pretend that nothing was worrying him. The red tracks carved winding paths through the asteroid field as several squadrons of vessels made for the opposite side of the system. Several blobs indicating the TU ships that laid in wait appeared. The large icons seemed to shatter as those vessels disgorged their fighters, which were immediately displayed on the tactical map.

“Almost a shame to watch from a distance,” Irys called.

“I’d suggest listening to the open comm channel. They’ve started swearing quite profusely that their little ruse didn’t draw us all away.”

“No, and I imagine those ships include some smuggler vessels?” Irys called. She slid the small comm into her ear, wincing at the pirate language, before putting it back down on the table.

“Yep, we’re picking out a range of models, escorted by some uglies.”

“They look fully laden too ma’am,” added another junior officer.

“Well then, a good haul I hope,” Irys replied with a smile. The two Bothan officers looked shocked. “By the Force it’s not that rare I smile! You’ve done a good job!” she said, feigning officer.

One by one, the little red lights on the display winked out as the pirates were disabled.

Lucien glanced down at his data pad a message had arrived from his slicer. 5 weak shareholders, forwarded him to Draco he could target selectively. He could work with these "Please take a seat My lady , It seems its time for me to start spending money again" He gestured toward a chair in front of his desk and moved his attention onto a monitor. "I was hoping you would answer differently I need a big shot to take ORO if we suceed in taking over from Wilmot , I can't do it myself ... I lack the imagination to keep a publicly traded company fresh"

"As for the iron fist, I'm too new here to know anyone so perhaps you can help?"

His conversation was interrupted by a buzz as Draco confirmed he had got to the first name on the list then minutes later came a request for contact.

"It seems we are one step closer to commandeering the board" He smiled as he contacted the shareholder "wanna go good cop bad cop"

Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. Gabriel wasn't really sure which part of the stages of grief this Shi'Do was going through, seemed to be a sort of grab bag of crazy. Fear of pain, fear of death, fear of the unknown. That last one was the nail in the coffin for most, not knowing what would come next. This wasn't something that would be painful or something that would leave lasting marks. In fact, Gabriel wasn't sure the thing would actually work on her with how responsive the immune system was. And as she reached through her body to pull out pieces of glass, the Sith reacted, hopping out of the canister and tumbling forward.

"Don't worry..." he said, holding up his hands. "It's not a poison. It's not going to hurt you...really..."

He shook his head to the side.

"Honestly, I have no idea what it's going to do to you..."

The explosives she found looked to be some kind of IED and there was no time to ponder why they ended up in this lonely building on Apatros. She was going to take them and use them against the Vong who were likely to come barging in any minute.

But Dakita didn't want to just pick up explosives without a good sense of how safe it was. Should she use gloves? Inspect the wires? Take it apart like Brad Skywalker would???

All of a sudden she heard the Vong at her door. There was no time.

She picked up the explosive device and threw it at the door and then curled into a ball as a giant BOOM! could be heard throughout all of Apatros.

"Why the kark do I do this—" the sniper trailed off into more expletives and curses, unintentionally revealing to any audience that cared to listen that xe spoke a wide array of languages besides Basic. A perk of being around for so long, and certainly a benefit considering what sort of job xe did.

Not that the job mattered much right now; for all xe knew, xe could end up dead, or worse, deformed, by tomorrow morning. Damned Sith and their toys. Why has xe said yes?

The credits, dear, Laguz reminded xemself, laughing almost hysterically at the gravity of the situation. Xe'd always been the type to try and alleviate terror with humor, even if said humor was often inappropriate or downright crude. Xe would usually do anything to avoid thinking about the problem, even running away to the other side of the Galaxy if that's what it took.

Well, you done karked now, the shifter let out one last, pitiful chuckle and slid down to the floor, xir back still against the half-smashed crates, now smeared by some of xir blood. Barabel eyes turned to gaze down on xir belly, wondering what sort of horror xir carelessness had unleashed upon xir body. Was xe done for? Was xe about to start convulsing and foaming at the mouth?

The very thought sent shivers down xir spine, and not of the good sort.

Xe perked up at the sound of an unfamiliar voice, peering at the looming form with half-closed eyes. "How the kark do you know and..."

"Who the kark are you?"

Before, this was not something I would have done. Working for a Sith was one thing, working for a sith and tormenting people. That was different. I hadn't used my abilities like that before. It was all new to me. I had expected to feel, relieved, relaxed, but instead I felt worse than before. I had almost turned my back on my true love, I had already turned my back on the ideals of neutrality. I had never intentionally harmed someone who had not harmed me before. It was not something I thought she would approve of. It was not something I thought she would think fondly of when next we met. Shame washed over me, but it was soon replaced with rage. Those Ideals had cost me her. She had been lost because I had followed those ideals, and someone else had killed her or worse. Someone who didn't believe in simply protecting one's own. I need not follow them anymore. Even as I tried to reason with my thoughts, I knew that I was wrong. I was just hurt. I hurt so badly that even these acts of horror were better than being alone with my thoughts.

I grabbed another man. I didn't know who he was or why I wanted to hurt him like I had been hurt, but I did. I peered into his mind. I stole his memories of his loved ones and turned them on him. He would be forced to face the world alone, or so he thought. They had died, abandoned him and left him well and truly all alone. Such was the price of poor timing. Sorrow, remorse, shame. I had these feelings. But I couldn't get rid of them. They followed me. I had my one true love's blood on my hands, and no amount of washing would fix that. If I had been stronger, and less prideful, it might have been different.

She worked on her list. There were a few things that needed to be done. After messing with other slicers in the Techno Union, the red-haired little hacker that could was looking to see who the potential candidates were for this world. Mohc Extra was always a heavy hand on this planet. They could easily step forward and put someone in charge. What about Eriridum? Browncoat? All very good candidates. But ti didn’t seem like any home grown Apartos folk would fit.

That was a shame. But still… data and updating a firewall? Good enough for her right now, until Cordel sent her more orders. And it would let some Net Zillo slicers in. Mostly just her. She was the slicing group for Net Zillo, and whether they wanted to make her a Master or not…

Wait, was that guy running a system check on her? Well… she didn’t want to be here for that. She started to block herself into the code, make it so she was just another program while she worked on logging herself out. Her foothold was there.

It would, to the right people, scream ‘Gambit was here.’

"Arceneau Trade can take the reins with Browncoat Arms, but afterwards discussion with @Marak Starchaser can be done to ensure that what belongs to the Techno Union remains there." she would tell him. A grin would then ripple across her cerulean face at the mention of 'Good Cop, Bad Cop'.

"Oh goody, I do love this game." she would say, taking the suggested seat with a drape of her body across it. She would beam at the Former Lord with a wide smile.

"Nothing like adding a little bit of pressure, no?"

@Orick T'hane

Welp, there were times when Micah knew he had been beat. At the very least, while he may come away with some scuffs and a bruised pride, he still had learned some lessons today. Begrudgingly, with is mom's voice in the back of his mind nagging him to pay forward what is due, the Talith would extend his hand and take the strangers own.

He would get tugged onto his feet easily, much to his chagrin. He would have to take into consideration the words of wisdom, and as much as it pained him to say it...

"Thanks," he'd say gruffly, still a bit vexed and clearly annoyed. Oh teenager pride.

But that is when the awareness that they were in a cortosis mine with several crates around them dawn. THoughts came to mind, of what the rest of the Covenant would need. And while he knew his mother wouldn't approve....

It wasn't like he was going to be taking ALOT of things.

He'll give an IOU.

That is how several crates worth of cortosis would soon find themselves on his ship there after.

"Good cop bad cop it is then" He smirked "I'll be nice ... you be ... less so"

He confirmed the contact "Good afternoon, I'm glad you contacted me today ... you have somthing I would like, lets make a deal"

This really was all too easy it was almost as if the ORO weren't trying ... this couldn't have been going better if someone was writing it . Lucien took a puff of his cigar as the shareholder ran off his questions 'why him?'' what did they want?' it was all very droll.

He had received a message from miss Blanchard containing more names and a few bits of dirt it was good, it was time to step up the pain though. He fired off a reply 'Splice these into some inboxes' came his reply with a fake profit warnings and a gag order preventing discussion but conveniently not sale of shares. Let carnage commence.

"I want you to sell to me your ORO are very troublesome for you, I can see that .. Let me help" Cue the thumb screws

Danger would listen to the man, watching him carefully. Finally she spoke.

"Or maybe you should take a much needed vacation." she would encourage gently, "Some things are best left one after some good rest." she said. She wasn't too fond of those hokey religions herself; to be quite honest, she held a notable amount of prejudice towards them.

Everyone had their petpeeves. Those who could so easily manipulate and use that would be hoodoo as a crutch to get to power dropped a few pegs of respect from the Trade Queen. She just wasn't too keen on it.

"One day at a time Marek. Just one day at a time."

Post 14. Cuz why not stop counting.

Danger knew a lot of his baggage, and that was just part of how the pair was together. He’d complain about something or another, and especially with a drink? Probably more than she’d like to hear. But it was a matter of trust between the pair, and even if Marek did like to stare… Corey needed to stop writing in rhyme, but that thread was going to be such a good time.

And back on track.

“Yeah, a vacation should be good. I’ve got my cousin who I’m kind of hoping might take a lot of the brunt of Bright Star from me. She’s young and eager. You’ll like her.” Aside from the whole Force thing. “Might be good to step away from the office.”

And now he could focus better.

“You’ve got Alisha down there, yeah? I know one of our new recruits, Cordel, is planet side, a wildcard we picked up in the Fringe collapse. Smart guy."

Danger gave a nod. There was more that would be bothering Marek, but there was a time and place. This was the second time he was trying to redirect the conversation, and she knew when it was too far to press for details. As she had mentioned, sometimes, there was nothing that others could do and it was instead a battle done on your own.

Much like her own situation with Alric. Only time and a personal choice would clear those demons.

"Yes, Alisha is down there. She will help in any method that is required of her to smooth things over." Danger told him, slipping her hand from his shoulder to get a drink for herself. Maybe even a smoke.

"It won't be long." she would assure him. After all, they had the entire might of the Techno Union behind them.

He wished there was something Danger could do. But really, Marek would handle things the best way he knew how. And right now? That meant drying out, pushing it all down and working through it. Once they got away from Apartos? He'd probably troll a bar and see what he could find. Sober, of course, but not of body. His blood redirection would take a very southern route, and as much as he'd enjoy that tango with Danger, that bit wasn't going to happen.

Perfect. Alisha was a great assistant, or right hand, or wherever she was for Danger.

"She's always good at her job, will be good for her to get a piece of this. Probably, and hopefully, shoe Cordel a thing or two." He they were all so lucky.

Right, inboxes.

She wanted to make sure before she did anything that there was an order trail. Marek seemed to trust Cordel, so she’d do her best. Turning her head side to side until the top vertebra popped she grinned. And now it was a matter of taking the files that she copied, the ones that were being shadowed to her own personal hard drive, and the Net Zillo mainframe, through a series of intricate shadow port computers, stuff she was just hacking in her spare time, to prevent her trail from being found.

Inboxes. And there were the shareholders. They were now receiving messages to contact a specific frequency or the attached files would become very public very quickly.

She didn’t mind this kind of work. Was it underhanded? Yes. Did it pay well? Oh, yes.

Orick tried not to laugh anymore at the kid, he was already fuming at the idea of losing to him. "You ever want ot learn how to fight like us normal folks you give me a call." He watched at the kid wandered off, before he turned back to business at hand. he wanted a couple of these crates of cortosis and now that the fight was over he could get back to business at hand. He wandered over to one of the small hover sleds and moved it over to one of the double stacks of crates. He didn't really care if someone spotted him, he was stealing this and never coming back. " One-Two, get the shuttle ready to go, I have the crates. Zero in on my signal and lets get out of here with these crates."

He moved the crates around to an open area and he sat down on the sled and waited, there was nothing left to do but to make sure that everything was smooth for the rest of the time he was waiting.
