OS vs. GR campaign idea

[member="Isamu Baelor"]

I wouldn't say telling people to do it larger on their own is childish. All I'm doing is just saying if you'd like to see it bigger, make one bigger. [member="Darth Erebos"] didn't make this idea. The dude in the GR did. He's looking for five OS members who'd like to participate.

Again, just sayin. Take it or leave it. If you think suggesting that people go out and do more stuff on their own is a bad and childish thing, more power to ya. I like seeing multiple people doing different things instead of telling one person to do it their way.

[member="Soeht"] that is an interesting idea too! But wouldn't the number of threads cause a small clusterkark?
Yes and no. There is an alternative with its own pros/cons.

Part of mitigating confusion is having what's believed to be the most important objectives started as threads immediately by the Faction Admins. Most people will join those rather than create their own thread.

Using the Naboo example, two natural objectives would be: kill/kidnap the Queen and KILL recruit the Gungans. These don't need to be defined as objectives pre-Invasion. I believe if pre-Invasion negotiations focused less on Rules and more on what the planet is/isn't (who is the Queen, what is she like, what does the Republic do on Naboo, etc) then objectives become obvious just by the nature of the setting being defined.

Overall, it's best if different threads should be both geographically and objectively unique.

A part of the reason why I believe, despite only being three threads, the Togoria Invasion could be confusing to follow is because the threads were separated by activity - much like how one would separate players on an MMO map depending on whether they want to play PVE or PVP. Two people could stand in front of the same building but be in two different instances, thus causing a conflict when one looks at the whole picture as a sum of its parts (threads).

Therefore, having two different threads in the same phase inside the palace would be a bad idea and this should be emphasized to all members. Same for having two threads about the Naboo Queen. There could even be more. This suggestion is more of a reaction to the fact that hard objectives defined in recent Invasions have neglected a lot of lore from planets.

Yet say if someone thought the hangar in Theed with all those Naboo starfighters deserved attention, then it would be reasonable to start a thread there. It's far enough from the palace to be geographically isolated and it doesn't involve the Queen. It was a feature of a major scene in a Star Wars movie, so it has its own merits as a scene for an Invasion.

However, separating the Invasion into threads does make it hard for each individual thread to interact with each other. The alternative would really be how Invasions have been in the past: keep it all in one thread, yet don't define hard objectives. This would require consistent use of people labeling the where and who of their posts, but if that's done then all should be well.
