Outside A Cantina...

"Well that was.... certainly an odd experience." Nala said, indicating what had happened with the thief. Seeing he had the credits in his pocket she shrugged and said "Maybe he's had the same problems as you. Or he just has a soft side for orphans. Just like me I guess....being that I am one now." She said as her tone became a bit more saddened.

The boy frowned sadly and slowly took her hand, squeezing it gently. So she'd lost her parents too... He shook his head pityingly as he thought about how hard it must be for her to cope with - especially since she seemed like she had known them before they had died. He supposed that was his one advantage: in a way, he couldn't miss what he'd never had. Kneeling down, he traced a rough picture in the dirt of Nala with two other figures looking down from above. Tugging on the hem of her robes, he pointed to his small drawing and smiled slightly, hoping it would comfort her.

Nala looked at the picture he'd drawn and smiled, a tear rolling down her left cheek. She wiped it off and rubbed his head saying "Thank you, Kos. That's very sweet of you to.....draw." Hesitating on saying the word "say" given he never spoke. She sighed and said "It's a shame. I really want to take you away from this place, find somewhere decent for you to live, but, unless you have a way with the force, you wouldn't exactly fit in with the Jedi Order."

Kos widened his eyes at the mention of being taken away and they widened even more at the mention of the Jedi Order. Then his little heart sank. He had no idea what the Force was, and even if he did know he was certain he wasn't special enough to 'have a way with it'. His eyes drifted back to his broom and he suddenly kicked out at it, shouting inside his mind: "I don't want to be stuck here!" He suddenly felt the thought burst out of his head, as if he had actually shouted it - the reverse of what he felt when he heard other people's thoughts, and he pressed himself against the wall of the cantina in fear, wondering if his master had heard it.

A sudden surge in the force made Nala perk up and ask out loud "What was that?" She looked about as if expceting to see a Jedi or Sith, possibly in combat, but her attention turned to Kos when he backed away and went against the wall. "Kos?" she asked, seeing the look on his face. Her eyes narrowed on him as she asked "W....was that you?"

Kos bit his bottom lip and looked up at her fearfully. He wondered what he should say. If he said yes, she might tell his master what he could do...but if he said no, she definitely wouldn't think he was worth taking away from here. Taking a deep breath, the little boy slowly gave a small shrug and a nod and closed his eyes, holding his breath while he waited for her reaction.

She looked more surprised before kneeling down in front of him. Reaching out she held his face up so she could look at it directly, examining it. She then closed her eyes and began to feel through his thoughts. It was a little difficult, given that she wasn't used to this method of sensing the force in others, but slowly and surely she began to sense it inside him. It was small but still present in him: the force. She opened her eyes and said "Kos.....I can sense it inside you. You are force sensitive. You can use the force, can't you? You can feel the way people feel or you can move things with a thought, right?"

Kos rubbed the back of his neck and looked into Nala's eyes, still feeling a bit worried. Taking another deep breath, he nodded again and gestured all around him at the people on the street and inside the cantina before tapping his head and he gave a tiny shrug.

Seeing him indicated this she was surprised and said "Kos, this is an amazing gift you have. That means, if you wanted to, you could become a jedi. You'd be raised in the temple among younglings and learn how to properly use these abilities you have. Is that what you want? Tell me, and I'll see it done."

Kos could hardly believe it. He could become a Jedi? He was really that special? The boy jumped up and down slightly in excitement, before reality set in again. What would his master say if he left? Would he even be able to go? Kos bit his bottom lip hard in worry as he began thinking of what would happen if he asked his master to go.

Nala could tell he was worried about his master and, putting her hands on his shoulders, said "Kos, listen to me, right now you don't need to listen to your master. When you come to the order you'll have another master, but they'll be more like a teacher, a friend, possibly close to a parent as well. But you don't have to be afraid of what that man in that cantina says. In fact I've half a mind to go in there right now and give him a good piece of my mind. But this is your decision, Kos. Not his, not mine, or anyone else Just yours."

Kos gazed at the floor for a long while before finally lifting his head and looking up at her, a huge smile on his face. He nodded eagerly and clapped his hands together softly in happiness and excitement.

She smiled greatly before standing up and saying "Kos Ticilo, I am proud to welcome you into the Jedi order." She picked him up and hugged him before saying "Come on. If you're master wonders where you are let him look all over this planet until he realizes you were never his slave."

Kos grinned and hugged Nala back tightly, feeling happier than he could ever remember feeling before in his life. He was really leaving this place. Leaving to become a Jedi! It was as though all his dreams had come true, all at once.

With the child still in her arms Nala Tu took @[member="Kos Ticilo"] to the nearest spaceport, making sure he was safe and secure the entire time, before a ship was finally ready to take them both away and off to Tython, the home world of the Jedi. She gave him a reassuring nod as they walked onto the ship before it would finally take off.

(OOC: I guess end there?)
