[ Poll ] Moving Forward

As we celebrate our rise to Major Status, an offer was made to the Confederacy on behalf of the Galactic Empire, the Sith Empire, and the First Order. They would like to form a grand alliance dedicated solely to destroying the Galactic Alliance the Silver Jedi Order.

But, as you are all well aware, we do not have a dog in their conflict. We do not have any investment in their war. While it does pay to have allies who are currently superpowers, it does not not pay to blindly charge into war from the day we obtain Major Status. And so, I posed a request to our more militant neighbor to the east. I requested that, in exchange for the Scarif Hex, we would be invested enough to participate in this Alliance.

Suffice it to say, the Galactic Empire refused. Thus do we now have a number of paths open before us. As I am not a tyrant, I do not want to make immense decisions, such as pulling the trigger on a conflict, without consulting each and every member of the faction. So, before we move any further, here are the options we have so far.

• 1. Let bygones be bygones and join the Alliance as is.
• 2. Remain neutral and let the Alliance fight its war.
• 3. Engage the Galactic Empire directly, before they strike us.

I mean us backing down now shows weakness to the SE and GE personally speaking so I would go for either 2 or 3 but honestly sometimes the better part of valor is humility so I suppose 1 and just keep a careful eye on the GE the minute we feel like they are getting flaky fight em.

Not a fan of making Alliances OOC without any IC interaction. I say remain neutral until we have a reason to aid them. Besides, if they really need us, they better work on their negotiation skills.

I know I personally will probably be too concerned with the start of school to get invested in a war or major threads in general. I wouldn't think jumping into any conflicts would be the best of ideas, especially when we've only been confirmed as going major for a couple hours now, and thus can benefit from taking time to even further solidify ourselves. Either way, I don't particularly care what the faction does.

Personally i would advise to remain neutral, build up are strength and prepare fore the inevitable conflict, let them fight out there war, gives us more time to prepare.

I suggest option 2.

I don't like making enemies. Of course there's possibility of hostility from them if we don't join it, if I'm understanding this right.

I say sit tight and keep building our foundation.

I agree with Marcus, the GE and SE will try and attack us one day, staying (Switzerland) getting strength up, then fighting the GE or SE as allies with the Alliance, though not in any way being friends, more like putting our difference aside to defeat a common enemy.

All good feedback so far. I'm going to go with the popular no. 2 as I think it's truly the right thing to do as a new major faction.

i think it would be a horrid idea to join an alliance in the midst of an invasion. If you do join the alliance i am not sure i can assist quite so readily if you join the invasion on the SJO.

Hmm as much as I would like to smash GE face from an IC perspective I do believe Chek would sit solidly in staying neutral. Though the odds do favor this alliance, there is always a chance that they don't or that the war weakens us.

OOCly, I'd prefer to remain neutral, though that may just be me not liking conflict with other writers and salt is the state of warfare on Chaos. That's more my taste, but still. I just don't like the way wars end up being written on this site.

ICly, I'm not sure we really have cassus belli to go for the GE right now. They haven't interfered with us yet, and attacking first is bound to end poorly for our reputation with other factions. As far as the alliance against the GE, it may be dangerous to keep company with tyrants. I'd think we'd want to stay neutral in the whole mess and simply be ready for either side to move on us. Fortify, supply, and build up our forces, but don't be the first to lash out.

Lord, I see many of us are in agreement. Neutrality seems the wisest course of action. We need to focus on taking a strong foothold in the galaxy. Organization of our Navy and Army should be a higher priority than engagement of a nation we have no quarrel with ( SJO, GA). I for one do not trust the First Order, or their allies.

I'd rather steer clear of the GE at all costs. Let's have fun doing our own thing. Let's be capitalists and droids and be fun.

I don't see a point in declaring war on people immediately. We should build a power base to work from before any sort of engagements.

I'd have to agree with the 2nd choice, we just went major and don't want to sink it down so fast, though we have a good following we should try and build more on what we already have for the inevitable war between GE and CIS, or any other wars that may come our way.

I'd honestly like to do a (few) diplomatic thread(s) to establish our standing with the factions ICly and go off from there. Might be some work, but it's better than deciding it through a mixture of OOC reasoning about IC opinions, imo. Plus it'll be a great opportunity to demonstrate what we're all about to other factions to allow them to get a better feel for our faction, not to mention the fun RP that can result from diplomacy threads like these.

So for my vote it's #2 until we have a reason to change our course of action.
