Once Adam's moderately hilarious alt-padding prank is removed from the picture, the superweapon poll gave us a pretty clear picture of where the faction stands.
The majority of the faction is in favor of putting our resources toward improving our fleet and building some proper command ships. However, a large minority of the faction is in favor of building a faction-unique superweapon.
Therefore, we've got a compromise that'll hopefully leave nobody entirely happy. That's the mark of a good compromise, after all.
After we take Aargonar, and after Clockwork, there's going to be a staff-led event in which we fight the Republic for the Roche asteroids. One of the things we'll be fighting over is a major new power generator.
If we secure that generator, there'll be a sequel event in which we employ a miniature superweapon based on the generator. The current concept, of which @[member="Sirella Valkner"] is in charge, involves a smallish superlaser. If you want to be involved in relevant R&D threads or alternative concepts, talk to him. Do not, repeat, do not continue to PM Matt/Tefga about superweapons.
In the meantime, the bulk of our resources will continue to go towards fleet expansion. We've fleshed out our War Manifest with recent tech submissions from several people. In the next few months, R&D threads will continue towards making us some new command ships. With good effort, the Factory judges may yet approve us an SSD or two -- a persistent benefit, rather than one that'll last only for an event or two.
