I avoid PVP battles except with those I already have a rapport with. It's not my thing, either on here or on MMOs etc.
pretty much this, but for those if I find someone I believe is generally fair on PVP I've got no problem with it... I do tend to lose alot though think last time I did an HRD tried to melt my face off and nearly did...

I have a personal disdain for competitive pvp. Mostly because it's called competitive. There's nothing to actually win or loose. I write PvP for a story, and when I fight people who go out of their way to tear apart anything someone may write to make their posts look more valid instead of chatting OOC, I turn and walk the other way.

Competitive pvp is no fun.

Collaborative pvp is.
I've come to find this is the cold hard truth. Your post gets a like. :)

I freely admit I love winning. :p

PvP is one of my favorites in RP, and my competitiveness as a person carries over into this well. It's obvious, and I don't really hide it anyway, so there's that.

In short? Yes, I will endeavor to win. I will pick apart a post in detail and study the mechanics and be obnoxious about something as "inconsequential" as foot placement.
I'd wager a lot of that stems from the fact that I practice swordsmanship in real life. Of course, this is fantasy, with Force-powered, glowstick-wielding ninjas running about, and a lot of what I know perhaps shouldn't have a place here.

In the end, though, pedantic or not, I find that PvP is best enjoyed with a good helping of OOC rapport, a side of thought-out posts and, most importantly, a cold beer*.

For all of Sarge's rep, I don't do any fighting, really. I can list the number of duel threads I've done on one hand (not including invasions, just threads specifically for a duel).

I don't find them appealing, generally.

I go way back with PVP to what was called Technique 1 on Yahoo. I don't care about win or loss, downed or whatever comes from it.

As long as it's a fair fight, fair hits and measured...I'm good.

Tech and other things have minor effects but can be a game changer depending on the capacity and point in which they're used. They aren't the end game though.

I enjoy a good fight and always expect a loss regardless of the writer I'm against...I could use the most powerful character ever and go up against an NFU and lose...so many variables. lol

Ramblings.

Anyways.

Don't think of it as avoiding Miss [member="Aaralyn Gyndar"] ... More like outright running and fleeing. Don't take it personal though, I tend to avoid force users whenever possible. Bad for business with their morales and opinions...

Honestly, I don't really do pvp anymore. It's not that I don't know how, cause I really do, but mainly because people are afraid to let their character get a boo-boo. I noticed a lot of people think their characters are 'gods' and because they have this misconception, they come up with outrageous or unrealistic ways to avoid getting hit. Then when you try to explain to them in a nice and calm way what they did isn't possible....they get all mean about it. Drama....don't need it.

Force Users are the worse. Then comes all those with heavy armour/resilient attachments. With the former, everything can be countered regardless how powerful the FA is....but try explaining that to some people and out comes their meanness. The latter, I have to laugh sometimes at this. I've seen another writer's character wearing 300 lb armour and able to do back flips and cartwheels like it was nothing. Honestly, that doesn't happen. Have you every tried wearing medieval armour (for example)? It's more cumbersome than one thinks. I know this fantasy but come on...seriously!

And back to my original rant of hits. My character has several battle scars that she wears proudly. I'm not afraid to let my character get hit but where in lies the issue is that others don't.
