Corruck Kazen
Time is the Essence
Corruck took the comments at face value, forcing himself to not believe there to be some hidden purpose. He smiled, pushing away his mind and letting loose that part of him that had been the main part for his joining the Rebels. He felt a wellspring of calm and more than a little enjoyment. Yes, he loved this job. It was not perfect, war was never a good thing. But while it lasted, he would enjoy what small pleasures he could and would find. Something as simple as sharing words, flattery and chatter, with the ever busy Gen was not common and would one day become all but impossible. He couldn't let the future break the present.
He smiled as [member="Geneviève Lasedri"] spoke. He didn't let the flattery get to his head, but he did let the feelings behind the words come through. He could guess that she was proud and that some was showing. There was a lot of be proud of, not of him certainly, but instead what had been accomplished. He could see for a moment parts of the past fly into his mind. The Rebellion had done well surviving almost anything that had been dished out to them. The failure of the assault on Makeb, that incident with the hive virus on that planet he couldn't recall, and the loss of a base.
He was glad to see this day. The Rebels could finally step out of the shadows and come into the light. No longer would they have to hide from the larger factions in the galaxy. He doubted he would see the day though, that day when the Rebels at last free the galaxy from the likes of the Sith and the Empires. He certainly did hope that someday he would be remembered, not for his days in crime, but if anything his time with the Rebels. There was some pride, it leaked out and he knew that while it would need to be removed again it was a pleasant feeling to have it again.
Her jibe about the doors made Corruck laugh. A foreign noise to him, it had been so many years since the last time he had been able to find a reason to laugh. "Had to pull apart some old ships' blast doors, had them melted down and reset into a larger door. It covers the entire entrance but it won't take as much to break through it as a regular blast door." He held the response in a somewhat serious matter, however he let the bits of humor that would have come out to show in his eyes. It was good to see the fruits of all their labors beginning to show.
