During an Invasion I used to look at my enemies gear in order to correctly represent them in combat.
- This Faction uses Tier 8 armors and Automatic Ion Rifles. I should write that when engaging their troops.
- This other Faction always has 2 War Droids to every infantry squad. I should bring a Hacker with me next time to route them.
- This Faction has 3 different types of Bombers. I should PM that other writer to see which 'generic bomber' he mentioned was attacking my ship.
However, since the previous ruling that Manifests need not be public. I have simply defaulted to using generic terms instead.
- This Faction probably uses Generic Armor and Semi-automatic Blasters. Who cares if they are supposed to be all Vong troopers. Meh.
- This other Faction probably just uses Generic Humans in all it's infantry squads. I should gear myself to fight against Paper Troops. Meh.
- This Faction has Generic Bombers. I'm sure they are using Generic Bombs when attacking my ship. Meh.
See the difference? Once upon a time I took the initiative to gain information about my opponents so as to respect them, represent them, and to outgun them during PvP. However, since the manifests when private. I no longer bother to research them or ask questions. If my opponent or writing partner failed to be specific? It doesn't bother me at all.
- Fail to mention all your troops have Tier 9 armor? Meh. I'm sure it's probably just Tier 4. NPCs are paper anyways.
I kinda like that new mentality too. Always gives me the advantage when my partner fails to be descriptive.
Conclusion: Dear Staff. Delete the Manifests Rule completely and simply ask your Major Factions how to be descriptive with their use of NPCs and Factory Subs. Writer error or omission is now an advantage to your PvP partner.
