Question, Is IC trolling not allowed?

Boulder

Mandalorian Warrior, miner and oportunist
Say if a character was like the joker, or really hated another character, is IC trolling allowed due to playing how this character will act? Or Is it still considered not allowed? I am not planing on doing this I am just curious.

Before I realized I was over charactered and this character took a seat on the back of the oven, I planned on doing something like this.

I think it's cool, might want to double check however.

Exactly what I thought, but im just afraid since the rules state trolling is not allowed, I would wonder if that extends to IC actions.

IC trolling will be okay if the person you are trolling is okay with it as well.

Make sure you don't go OOC that much though, and keep the trolling funny and not offensive, so it'll be all good.

Based on other sites, so I could be wrong don't quote me but;

IC trolling is okay as long as it is In Character, and still makes sense.

Like, if you're magically showing up in every single one of their threads without any real reason for your character to be there or know they are there and are just messing with them and throwing off every plot they try and run, that's not okay.

If it makes sense for you to be in the same thread and your character wants to steal their cat and actually does know where they live, or short out the breaks on their speeder if it's unguarded etc, go for it.

Unless they ask you to stop of course.

I agree with [member="Nima Tann"]. You should probably check with the other writer(s) before engaging in any targeted harassment campaign in-character. Otherwise, they may just ignore you, and/or take it personally.

I think that [member="Nima Tann"] is pretty spot on with this one. Me and [member="Gray Raxis"] have a fun time laughing and playing with each other. Like he duped me into thinking he was IC-ly dating someone........... only to IC-ly date them later. I think that mutual consent is the main thing, and everyone to know that its just a joke, keep it IC, and not let things get too.... "edgey" or what have you. OOC on Skype he and I laugh it up and talk about guy stuff, no trolling happens.

I think that is the main thing. As long as everyone is laughing, having a good time, and no real damage is done IC-ly, then its cool. Like the time James "accidentally" smacked Gray on the head three times during a home repair project.

Cheers and have fun!

Also, if you need justification as to why you keep turning up in every one of this person's threads, just bring a churro cart, because mmm, who doesn't like churros? "I'm not following you," you can claim. "Clearly I'm selling churros."

Well, first I would say make sure that the person is ok with it. I don't do all too much PvP--cause reasons. Anyway, what you could do might be what I do most of the time. Write in a semi-sardonic tone. Like I lost count of the time I entered a thread with this character and he was drunk, so it would go something like, 'James was drunk.' Eventually I decided to start having fun with it like, 'James was drunk. But no one was surprised since it was James so let's move on to more original things." Or the time I wrote, 'James Justice landed his ship. However, since the writer was tired of trying to revive the same old sequence of events and make something totally unoriginal like landing a spaceship sound cool and no one cares about how the landing props extended and the engines cooled off, we will move on."

So on and so forth.

I suppose the main thing would be to know what the player your writing with is ok with--and go from there. Like a dance, if you will.

I would suppose if you are going to be mischievous, do your best to make it apparent its purely comical and not personal. Also, make sure that You or the situation are the butt of the joke. Not the person. Like the time I had James fighting and try to use the force for the first time--only to literally fall flat on his face while getting shot at. Weapon malfunctions that you turn into satirical imagery of society, thought processes that you nuance that are totally ridiculous, or even just personal blunders that you make into comical comebacks (Jar Jar anyone?). Or just making fun of the situation you find yourself in--these are all totally good things to do.

The key is to just not make it personal in my opinion, if you follow me.

I'm late on this but when you asked for a combat example I had to find it...

[member="Boulder"] Combat wise, depending on the character, I like to make liberal use of smack talk, and holding back in fights and being obvious about it. If I ever come across an FU trying their best Starkiller impression, then I just go full goof, Jackie Chan style.

You have my permission, but there will be consequences. Don't be shocked if you end up in some deep dark hole somewhere.
