Rebirth of the Monarch

Kay nodded as [member="Ultimatum"] spoke of the need for building defences. She reached out to one of the stone walls, grazing her hand lightly on the cool, hard surface. She needed to work on the defences for Commenor, her Palace and also for herself. She didn't want to risk allowing for her to be captured again. Nor tortured. It was all too much and killing everyone wasn't the answer, especially when she needed them.

Ultimatum's request pulled her from her thoughts. Kay looked at him and nodded. "Yes, you may. You are helping us greatly, so returning the favour would be beneficial. There are many places here and on our moons for you to locate to. And as we control the traffic coming in and out of the system, it wouldn't be hard to hide your travel records." She dropped her hand, clasping both of them in front of her. "I only hope that I can find a place of refuge, should I need it. Hiding here would be too obvious."

Ultimatum appreciated that, he had no idea how long Mustafar would remain under his command and the droid was glad to have a dedicated safehaven in the event that his world be lost. Of course, he had intended on sharing the same offer. No doubt there were many that would disagree with her change and perhaps try to wrest the world from her in retaliation. It would not do to let her, as an ally and old friend, fall to such insignificant threats. Whether or not he agreed with her right now, she was more than worthy of his personal care. It was unfortunate then that they had to remain hidden friends. As much as Ultimatum cared for Kay, he could not allow his work to be jeopardized.

"If you should find yourself in need, Mustafar, or the Sovereignty are open for you at any time..." He took a lighter note, "Though if the latter I warn you that the ship has some other occupants. Perhaps next time we meet I should introduce you to them just in case." The Redeemed, the Fate and her crew, the Nameless, the Vanguard, and occasionally Legion and Loyalty. The large vessel was filling up quickly and Ultimatum found it most amusing. It was impressive the following he had gathered, perhaps it was a sign that his cause was right and just. There were, after all, two main things that drew followers: Power and Righteousness. Ultimatum knew he had power, but he hoped that he was righteous.

Kay gave [member="Ultimatum"] a small smile with a bow of her head. "Thank you. I appreciate it." Her Master had told her that she'd need to kill and threaten others to get what she had wanted. But this wasn't the case. Her instincts guided her in this moment. Maybe it was because she didn't feel threatened. She couldn't quite figure it out yet. Her memory was so full of holes that it was hard to make any sense out of the past few years or so.

"How soon did you wish to get things started? And when would you like some prisoners? I'd like to be prepared for you." Kay shifted the focus to something else. That was still a habit of hers. Whenever there was a chance of her getting uncomfortable, it was always better for her to divert the attention to elsewhere.

Hearing her thank him meant much to the droid. It was a small thing and he probably read to much into it. For all the droid knew [member="Lady Kay"] could have been taking advantage of him and his own thoughts leading to covering the possibility of such actions. It was a quandary that he could no more answer than stop, for his mind had been deeply affected by the organic's personality. It was in part her kindness that had turned the towards his current state. Now he planned to work against her and he justified it with the fact that she was not the same person in mind as she once was.

He sidetracked his thoughts with her following question. "I can send the ships for construction whenever you desire. As for the prisoners, give me a week to prepare proper detainment facilities. I do not know how long before the work shows sought after results, but when it does you shall be the first to know." Such was the life of experimentation, a break through could occur the very next minute, or in a few decades. There was no way to predict it, merely track its progress and hope.

Kay nodded in agreement with his timeline. She didn't need anything to start overnight. She had only just got back and already, her home needed repairs. It was annoying to not be able to feel safe and secure in her own home. More than likely she won't be getting much sleep. There was too much to do, too much to think about.

"You'll have all the time that you need, [member="Ultimatum"] . Rushing can sometimes cause people to cut corners. But if you want your project done well, then I suggest that you do whatever you need to for it. I'm sure that the only ine pushing you would be yourself."

She had the bigger picture to think about. Her Master wanted her to publically execute people, but this was a much wiser option. It was better to work in the shadows than to open oneself into becoming a target. The cocky ones don't last long.

Ultimatum understood her statement, he was well aware that he was the person putting such constraints on his timeline. Truthfully he did not want to remain active any longer than absolutely necessary. Given his current estimations he would be spending the next two millennia actively trying to reach the point where organics were secure from the future. That was far longer than he truly cared to exist, yet he was prepared to accept the time as necessary. Nonetheless, that time was so long and Ultimatum hoped to decrease the time as much as possible.

"I believe you, but there is such a thing as too much time spent on a single project. I shall continue as planned, but there shall be no corner cutting. The finished product will be a masterpiece worthy of the time and effort put into its discovery." Indeed, the droid looked forward to finally reaching the point of being able to enhance organics with an almost complete conversion. Soldiers without fear or pain, doctors with perfectly steady hands, scientists with minds faster than computers. All these he could create once this breakthrough had been achieved.

"It's difficult for me to think that far ahead. I can hardly figure out what I'm doing next week, let alone what I'll be doing years down the road. But I'm a survivor. That much I know. Whatever happens...I'll adapt to it."

She hardly predicted her capture and torture. If she had known, then she would have done better at avoiding capture. But hind sight was 20/20. There was nothing that she could do to change it. Now she had adjustments to make and plenty of them. Not only with herself, but with her gov't, her home and the Commenori in general. And there was no one to trust. She was surrounded by strangers.

One day at a time. That's how she had to handle it.

The droid knew that she would. If Ultimatum had learned anything about her from their time together it was that she would overcome anything with enough time. That was true of himself as well, he would defeat all obstacles given time to learn. To surmount all odds, that was what Ultimatum's mission was. Unfortunately, it would be difficult to achieve his goals given that the galaxy would not be there to help him. He would need to take small steps, each one progressing slowly towards the end.

For now though, he had concluded his business on this world. He had managed to keep an ally and yet still lost a friend. He hoped that one day she would see the light once more and return to it, but that was something that he could not plan for. Rather, he would plan for her current personality and work within it. He would need to get his work going, after all there was a new set of structures to build both for LOOM and [member="Lady Kay"].

"I have no doubt that you will. If you may grant me, I shall excuse myself and set to work for the construction effort. It has been a true honor and joy to see you again."

Kay bowed her head as [member="Ultimatum"] asked for permission to leave. If it was one thing that she had learned this night, it was that three had shown her great respect among all others of her old self's friends. And it was those three that she had planned to keep in contact with, one already commiting himself to her and her cause, whatever that may be.

"Permission granted. I look forward to your return. Maybe then we could....catch up on what I have missed since I had been away." And if he had any insight on her old self, then all the better. She needed to know how to best manipulate and rule over her people. But that was after she had weeded out those that sought to dethrone her.

One day at a time. Despite her losses, she had already won. The rebirth of the Monarchy on Commenor had been established.
