"Indeed we are your guests"
I paused for a moment to take a sip of tea. Detecting a slight nervous flicker upon the princess Alva that led me to hesitate and consider the dynamics of things. I didn't want to come across as to blunt with the First Princess, but understandably I had to consider the Imperial efforts else where. Despite having had a decent rapport with the Second Princess, I had very little contact with the first outside of the victory ceremony not to long ago. Back in the core worlds such jostling of authority and power plagued many noble families. Myself spent the better part of two years wrestling to get myself set apart from the rest to get into the university I wanted. My studies in Intergalactic politics had helped me immensely in understanding the need for statesmanship. Certainly the First Princess had been well groomed as a successor.
I had been chosen to this position purely for my qualifications, my family's influence this time around had nothing to do with this posting. The Emperor and Empress had made this decision. I could not protest, to do so would undermine the legitimacy of the Imperial Crown. To make any of this work I had to forsake my noble line and give myself fully to the cause. I had to be an example...
I sighed and considered the First Princess's words. Everything though in the short term and long term would benefit the Crinans. The sudden appearance of Alva's maid was a little perturbing, but I certainly at this point had begun to expect such prowess from her bodyguard and well servant. It just would take time. 'Celestials shoot me, why did I become part of the diplomatic corps?' I took one more sip of tea before continuing on.
"We can debate all night and day about stability and who would best hold that label. I for one am not here to discuss philosophy. We should strive together to return Crina to prosperity so that we may ensure peace. Regent Industries and Flavian Star Corporation are readily willing to rejuvenate and modernize certain aspects of your civilization. To promote a higher standard of living may help bring peace and order. While at the same time Crina Royal Industries has demonstrated a remarkable ability for innovation and I am certain that we could learn and develop together a great number of new inventions or improve upon designs. I would suggest that further integrated cooperation between these three economic entities could help bring spur eventual self-sustaining prosperity."
