Relations with the Mandalorians

Would the Republic in the future be open to create stronger ties with the Mandalorians through helping them in the future. This would of course mean all helping of the Mandalorians would be sanctioned(WITHIN reason, no committing war crimes people.) What do you guys think, why or why not, and keep in mind this would mean all acts in the past are not forgiven but work will be made to overwrite them through doing such a thing.
(Permission was given to ask such by FO)
Also, keep in mind i will not and have not posted and those whom have a certain bias will also not do so, those knowing who they are.

I see no reason why we should not. In my time on the board I've seen little strife between both factions and I see a great opportunity for character development having good relations between the factions. E.g. Friendly interactions between Jedi and Mandos would be entertaining to read, as they would likely have a lot of Jedi-dissing :p

Are we asking for the faction opinions or just from those who agree? Not sure I see how excluding certain "bias" is going to give us a clear indication of the general opinion.

For the record, I think we should improve relations if we're going to turn down our conflict with the One Sith to a cold war. We're going to need our allies. And now we have a whole diplomatic corps with which to do so.

It's great that we all want better relations with the Mandalorians. I don't think any of us ICly or OOCly wants war with them, but we need to understand the political reality.

And the political reality is that the Mandos are not only posturing aggressively, but launching raids on Republic expeditions.

Does that make sense to everyone? We can't make nice if they are trying to kill us. If we want to hold a detente, that would probably be beneficial. I'm sure the Silver Sanctum would make for a good intermediary if we need a more neutral party.

I agree to a certain degree. I mean, I would love if we were in a real alliance with the Silver Sanctum and I'd focus a lot on that. It is difficult to find a way to make Mandalorian-Republic good friendship to last, as well.

But I have a feeling that against the One Sith, Mandos would be a slightly better move. Especially if it does get into the cold war. They are aggressive, like you pointed out, and in such case, it would be great for us.

So I support forming better relationships with Mandalorians, although I would appreciate allying with Silver Sanctum more.

If I'm not mistaken the attack by the mandos was a small splinter group not an attack by the Mandos government against the Galactic Republic government. And even if there is a terrorist group within the Mandos, this could lead to some interesting story telling. Consider the Death Mark in the Clone Wars cartoon. The Mandos were still allies of the Republic but there was a terrorist organization hell-bent on fighting the rightful government.

This, and only this.
Mind, the linked topic discusses an IC story plot. I think there's certainly fodder for an IC story plot with tense relations and diplomatic demands (maybe someone in [member="Cecily de Demici"]'s Ministry of State wants to take on something like that), but I don't think that completely discounts the ability for our factions to improve our IC relations overall.

We can always discuss intentions OOCly without having to trouble ourselves with the direct IC execution. That can come later, and shouldn't stand in our way.

There were many of us that were very vocal against raiding the republic. But not even Mand'alor himself can control the mando'ade. You guys were chosen as a target because there was no official alliance made or agreed upon. We had a thread going but halted for what ever reasons. Then there was a certain dom that the republic had shown up and aided us. Those that did show up were disciplined under your government. That left a bad taste in the would be mandalorian/pub relations. Especially after many individual mandos have volunteered their services to the republic.

This would be a chance to repair and work on a better tomorrow for us all.
