Those that did show up were disciplined under your government. That left a bad taste in the would be mandalorian/pub relations. Especially after many individual mandos have volunteered their services to the republic.
Keep in mind everyone, and im not hitting Strider on this as me and him have had this conversation and we for the most part agreed. That the two governments operate on highly different methods in where our military cannot simply act out on their own like the mandos can. It is considered going AWOL and as such is by normal military code for governments like the republic something very much so punishable. Thats why part of the stipulation in the vote was that things would be sanctioned when we help them out so to avoid this very situation in the future. Just wanted to be perfectly clear and make sure a debate from coming up again... with that said please don't turn this into a debate now that i said that.

We have the same enemies. We share a border. We just need to learn how to work with each other. And such will come in time through participation on a small scale. IE doms, skirmishes and public threads. Trust runs both ways and we are already on a knife's edge.

OOC: This could be a blast.

It is understandable that the Mandalorians were a splinter cell, but at the same time it does not engender any sort of trust. How can we be expected to put faith in the Mandalorians if they can't even control their own people?

Also, I want to make certain that this discussion and subsequent negotiation will not be spearheaded by a dark jedi who has repeatedly left the Order and abandoned the Republic.

Those are the IC objections. OOCly this makes for a good plot.

As a Mandalorian I welcome relations with the Republic. Having participated in the Invasion of Ord Mirit as an ally to the Republic regardless of the outcome I'd hope we can foster a reasonable accord with its members.

.... I was NEVER in the Jedi LOL. Please keep this on topic Ryan, it was about improving relations, not talking about who is spearheading negotiations that are not even going to happen at this current time. This was an interest check not a. "Hey this is happening."

lol, oh really, [member="Strider Garon"] ? Well I don't try to control anybody. I'm just really good at gaining allies, even amongst my enemies ;)

@Strider Goran , you are too kind ;) But I'm not so easy to control, myself. My protectors as well as the Hutt Cartel can attest to that. Maybe trouble just follows me?

Whoops! Misspelled your name, [member="Strider Garon"] Sorry about that. My old landlord's name was Goran, so it was a force of habit in typing.

And as for building on Mando and public relations, I can't speak for all of the Senate, nor the Republic. I don't have that high of a position. But that doesn't stop me from trying to make the Galaxy a better place :)

[member="Strider Garon"] , you're not trying to be overly-friendly, now are you? If my husband were alive he'd have something to say about that.....

They literally just attacked us in a Skirmish. So no. Unless those responsible for the raid were punished by the Manda'lore, I don't see any chance for closer relations.
EDIT

Too late haha

The natural next step after an interest check is an actual thread where negotiations occur. Therefore, since interest has already been shown, discussion of the next step is not off topic, is validated and is already occurring.

It would be naive to think that the vast majority of Republic members are going to be in any way staunchly opposed to any sort of diplomacy, as diplomacy is the heart and soul of both Jedi and Republic doctrine.

Therefore, as your idea has drawn the attention of Clan Garon, the High Council, and a multiplicity of Republic members, now is the time for discussing logistics, or letting this die out, as so many other ideas do, with much hype, much talk and little action.
