Admiral
You need to tag me if you expect me to see this. I was only alerted to this because of another person's tip.
I cannot allow damage causing illusions. The reasons are as following:
This battle is IC, yes, but there’s a bit of OOC fairness that must be maintained. Were I to summon 6 squadrons of reinforcements (which is hardly impossible IC wise) I am sure there would be rightful complaints. After all, we have an agreed size limit for a reason. There’s no IC reason why both fleets would be equal, none at all, but we submit to that rule because it is fair. If I am suddenly faced by magical ships conjured from the ether which I can do nothing to prevent spawning and which can kill me, then this RP is over. Is this what you want, to win a hollow victory without any strategy?
Furthermore, it has been convention in the past that writers in these battles using powerful abilities take time to build them up. In the previous battle for instance 5 posts was agreed with Alicia Drey for her to perform a powerful Force spell. She had to go on LOA before it could happen, and I’m not expecting 5 posts, but I do expect some build up. As Boan took time activating the Dovin Basals, I expect such a power to take time to build up.
And the silliest thing of all is that it’s not necessary. At the risk of totally screwing up my strategy, let me tell you how to use these illusions correctly where they are still illusions but work to your advantage.
So look, there’s two ways we can do this. You can insist on playing it with the illusions doing physical damage, in which case we may as well just hand this victory to you. I’ll keep RPing, but I cannot win against an enemy who is unfairly (OOC) bringing in summoned ships I cannot stop.
Or, we can play this as it should be fairly done, where they are just illusions, and then you use strategic thinking to your advantage. That means you’ll have to work for a victory, but it will be a fair victory.
I know which I would like, but it’s up to you, OS writers.
I’m not angry, I’m not upset, I’m just disappointed, but hopeful. I know [member="Darth Arcis"] is a fair writer, as is [member="Boan Rein"], and I have nothing but good things to say about [member="Darth Vitium"] and [member="Darth Arcanix"]. I’m sure we can resolve this in a fair way.
I cannot allow damage causing illusions. The reasons are as following:
- It essentially adds 800+ metres to your fleet total, taking you well over the allowed amount.
- Being able to summon damaging illusory ships anywhere completely removes strategy from any of this. Fleeting is the one realm remaining in RPs where one-upping Force powers does not dominate.
- It provides the OS with a completely and totally unfair advantage. By having an endlessly renewing source of ships I cannot win against (I can dispel the illusion but it does not stop more appearing) you have effectively taken all agency from me.

- Mix in illusions into your fighter swarm. Thus, when the attack craft engage who are the Republic craft engaging…is that coralskipper an illusion or not?! They won’t know until they hit it or get hit by a real vong fighter.
- Play on the illusions when your Dark Blades appear. The Republic might well think they are illusions (reinforcements coming into the fight unexpectedly) to their cost.
