Faction Restoration Efforts (NJO)

"Because they're good people who want to see the good in even the darkest of places." And a Sith Necromancer was certainly one of the darkest of places. He glanced back to the whithered body standing beside him, squinting just a little. Distrust was there, how could it not be? He knew enough of what had happened to understand that this person could be a threat, an enemy, if the Force returned to them.

But pretty quickly his expression softened as the figure stepped forward to ask of Zaiya was alright.

He stepped with him, giving Zaiya and Mahsa both a nod before shooting a glare towards the leaving boy. Just a brief one, and again one that only someone who truly knew Aris would be able to pick up on. But he was none the less.

Alright that was a question given the tone. Soft in the start, higher pitch at the end, ball gently rolled like if they were shoulders. Colette bit down on her lower lip for a moment. Bee was asking about… She looked around. Where were they? A temple, an overgrown temple. An overgrown temple that she was currently helping clean up, yes that must have been it. Bee was asking about her work.

"Oh, it's going good. I think." Colette spoke with a shrug and continued to lean on the broom. "Saw Valery in one of the other sections. Knowing her, she's probably doing things she isn't supposed to do. Given the, you know… The pregnancy."

"Me? I'm… Fine? I have a broom, a good idea what to do, and nothing but time."

Bee deposited the trash nearby and Colette walked over to look at it.

"Thanks, Bee." She smiled. "You can fit surprisingly much in there, huh?"

Valery’s playful resistance melted away the moment Kahlil spoke, his heartfelt words settling deep in her chest. She tightened her embrace around him, her chin still resting on his shoulder as her fingers gently combed through his hair at the back of his head.

“Okay,” she whispered softly, her voice tender. She leaned back just enough to meet his gaze, her amber eyes filled with warmth. “For you, and for our baby, I’ll take it easy.” A small smile tugged at her lips. “But I’m not just sitting around doing nothing. Maybe I’ll go back to doing some Lorekeeper work — there’s always more to uncover.”

Valery’s smile deepened as she reached up to cup his face, her thumb gently brushing against his cheek. “I’ll still be busy as long as my body allows it, but I’ll stay safe, I promise.”

Then, without another word, she closed the gap between them, pressing a slow, loving kiss to his lips. When she pulled back, her forehead rested lightly against his, and she whispered, “I love
you.”

As Caelan traced the marking across his cheekbone, Cora's expression softened. Few were the Jedi who'd not been scarred by the Dark, but to see it in a Padawan stirred a mixture of heartache and protectiveness. She could only imagine the trauma he'd gone through, and it have a reminder of it once scored so visibly in his skin.

She hummed once, in approval, as Caelan pressed his hand to the wall and centered himself. Light emanated from beneath his fingertips, expanding outward until their combined efforts became synched.

Waves of light pulsed over the dark markings, searing them from stone, chasing them into nothingness. Even the aura in their immediate area became more peaceful, more serene.

Cora let out a low exhale. She turned to Caelan, tapping the side of her cheek where her own horizontal scar sat.

"From a darkshear," she said. Her gaze became distant for a moment, as if lost in the memory of how Carnifex's eyes had locked onto her own after striking her. Just as quickly, she brought herself back to the present, a pleased smile tilting her lips.

"You did very well. A natural. And your scar has healed rather nicely," she commented. "The healer did good work. How long has it been healed for?"

Looking over at Roman, noticing his reticence, he quipped…

You okay, Padawan? Buster was busy playing with his toy now, so Connel did not have to worry about him. He was wondering why “Roman” seemed a bit “standoffish” all of the sudden. Was it Connel? Did I intrude on anything? I apologize if I did. This little guy is "Buster" by the way.

Kuhbee brought up a familiar name. ”Shyyyo’s Heart”? Clapping the Wookiee on the shoulder.

My father is an “honorary member”... I’m getting there… Unzipping a part of his jacket to show his tribal tattoo and zipping it back up. Then stepping over to give himself some space.

To be able to move items, you must first be able to lift them. So… Extending his hand out and then looking at the both of them to do the same, after all, he did not know Roman’s abilities.Clear your mind and focus on an object, imagine a large hand slipping under that item. That hand is your hand… use it to lift the item up.

The feeling of peace washed over them and the area around them began to feel less oppressive. Slowly, but surely, the markings on the wall nearby were washed away, leaving damaged wall behind, but at least it was no longer tainted by the dark side. He pulled his hand back from the wall and opened his eyes to admire the work they had done. It was pleasing to be able to wipe evil away in such a fashion. Curing the darkness was important when so much of the galaxy was affected by it.

She mentioned how she'd gotten hurt and he looked at her scar.

"I don't know what darkshear is, but I imagine it's some Sith ability,"
he said, looking away and focusing on her eyes. "Scars leave us with stories to tell and lessons to learn, right?"

There was a brief moment she seemed lost, but then she came back to reality and he smiled in return to hers. The compliment made him smile even more. It was nice to be told he'd done something right, something good. It made him feel appreciated, but most importantly it made him feel seen as a person and not just as someone who filled a role.

"Thank you for teaching me how to do it. As for my scar, about a week. It was bothering me one evening so I went for a walk and bumped into a noblewoman from Arkania. Turned out she was a healer. She was able to remove the darkness from it, which allowed it to heal up to how it is now."

"How do you know what each one does?"

"I have a notebook with info on each rune," Jasper stated. "Sort of a general overview. I can probably let you read through it if you wanna start learning. We should be ready to go..."

"You'd think your hand writing would have gotten better after reaching master..." Silas teased "Maybe a lesson from your old friend will get you back on track."

Jasper tilted his head a little, letting out a gentle huff.

"You never took me for a writer," he remarked. "Thought you were more of a 'pick fights on rooftops' kinda guy. Hey, you learned battle meditation, right? Give me a hand over here, will ya? Might as well make this as good as we can."

The master sat down, laying his hand on the large stone to begin spilling his Force Light into it. Already the effect was profound. A radiant aura would fill the passageways of the temple, providing all of those tackling the issue of cursed runes upon the walls of the ruins much needed assistance. This aura would begin fending off the darkness and protect those who stood within it, while purging weaker curses in the process...

Now he just had to focus.

Carlo paused as he faced a section of the hallway wall, something about it feeling off, as though it didn't belong to this part of the corridor. A strange sense of unease settled over him, but he couldn't quite pinpoint the source of the feeling. His thoughts were interrupted, however, by the sound of movement and voices—voices that seemed to be directed toward his own musings, as if they were somehow aware of his hidden curiosity.

Turning slightly, Carlo instinctively craned his neck to get a better look at the speaker, aware that he was a bit shorter than the other person. His curiosity was piqued by the mention of something that had already been discovered, and he couldn't help but step closer to learn what had been found.

"Oh, sweet," he murmured, his interest fully captured.

Well, at least he had apologized, which managed to smooth the Lovalla's ruffled feathers. She was rarely upset, and her friendly, if perhaps too accommodating nature generally meant that others seldom bothered her.

However, Lysander then had to suggest that she now leave him alone. An expression of bafflement grew over Zaiya's face, brows drawing together as confused grey color tones painted over her mottled spots.

"Okay..." Zaiya managed to murmur quietly, bending down to start picking up the box she had dropped. A few items had scattered, so she began to put them back to make sure she didn't lose them.

The tickle of awareness came and while she felt Aris's presence nearby, it was Mahsa's voice the Lovalla heard. Her friend defended the Lovalla, and a slight flush of pink grew over her face.

"It's okay, Mahsa, it was my fault I bumped into him..." or, more like, crashed -- Which she should have been paying more attention to. Although the mortification on how they fell and how the end resulted was still tinting the tips of her ears pink as well as shimmering in faint shades of coral hues over her rosy golden skin.

"And Yum Bunny spicy wings aren't bad... They also have good burgers." It was just insulting that Lysander would say she was a Yum bunny when she was clearly wearing a Jedi Robe. Not black short shorts and a tight white cropped top. She didn't even have any Lepi ears on or a bunny tail!

Wait, did she look as if she was scantily clad? Why would he say that, to begin with?!

Now Zaiya was doubting her robe selection.

Either way, the teenage boy began to walk off, and now Zaiya was left to her overthinking thoughts.

Until a distinctive voice drew her from them.

" Zaiya!... Are you...alright?"

Zaiya's head whipped toward Lord Immortuous -- well, that's what he'd insisted she call him back at the station. A flush crept up her cheeks thinking of what just happened, a swirl of pearly pinks and soft gold rippling over her patterns as she remembered how many eyes had seen her stumble earlier. Not exactly her most Jedi like moment.

"Um, yes, Lord Immortuous," she replied, hastily gathering up her scanner and sensors. She stood up, brushing herself off as best she could, though the blush lingered faintly on her face. Still, she managed to pull herself together enough to flash a sunny smile, a trademark Zaiya expression, at Mahsa, Nulgath, and Aris. That warmth faltered ever so slightly when her gaze flicked to Lysander, who had walked off in a noblesse manner.

Sigh... Hopefully she could clear things up afterward. Zaiya didn't like anyone to be upset at her.

"It's good to see you again," she said with a polite nod to the elder. Her opal blue eyes flicked over him briefly, taking in the faint traces of singed material around him. The Force around him felt... sharp, with an undercurrent of something brittle, but Zaiya pushed her curiosity aside for the moment.

"Are you okay? I hope you're not hurt," she asked, her concern genuine as she stepped closer to inspect him. Her attention, however, didn't stay entirely focused, not as she stole a quick, shy glance toward Aris. The fluttery skip of her heart at the sight of him felt as familiar as breathing, though it still made her blush deepen into a rosy hue.

"Hi, Aris," she added softly, her voice a little more timid than usual. Had he seen her embarassing klutzy moment?!! Uggh.....

But then her gaze landed on Nulgath, her expression furrowing into concern once more. "Mahsa, want to help me -- oh!"

A radiant aura would fill the passageways of the temple, providing all of those tackling the issue of cursed runes upon the walls of the ruins much needed assistance. This aura would begin fending off the darkness and protect those who stood within it, while purging weaker curses in the process...

She paused mid sentence, a sudden sensation lighting up her face. The iridescent glow of curiosity rippled across her skin, spreading out like waves of glimmering amber and citrine as her thoughts raced ahead.

"Whoa, what is that?"

Kuhbee knew the last name had sounded familiar! He was so glad to meet someone with connections to his tribe! He let out a low howl of happiness.

[It is nice to meet you! And Buster!]
The young cub was so easily excited. He enjoyed meeting new people. He enjoyed learning the Force too and was amazed as he watched Connel lift something so effortlessly.

[Wow. Roman do you know how to do this?]
He wasn't sure if Roman was further in his training. Kuhbee had just started but he was eager to give it a try.

Roman stood, meeting Connel's gaze, a subtle nod acknowledging the Knight's concern. Buster, apparently satisfied with his newfound toy, had wandered off, leaving the space between them clear. "No, everything is well, Connel." Roman replied, his voice calm and measured. "Simply a bit fatigued, that's all. I wanted to ensure Kuhbee received the most from your instruction, as I am a bit further along in my training."

He watched as Connel explained the foundational steps of telekinesis, the simplicity of the words belieing the complex nature of the Force. Roman heard Kuhbee's translated question, a flicker of youthful excitement in the Wookiee's voice. A warm smile touched his lips as he glanced at the eager cub. With a gentle gesture, Roman focused his depleted Force reserves, lifting the heavy boulder that had been blocking Kuhbee's path. He gestured towards it, silently encouraging the young Wookiee to try. "Give it a go, Kuhbee." he encouraged, his voice a soft murmur, "It's easier than it looks."

"Alright," Valery said once he put her down, "But no more Valery Amara." She squinted at him with a playful curl of her lips, "I forgot I even told you about the middle name." It was on a few certificates, sure, but more than likely he remembered from an old conversation and decided to use it when she was most frustrating.

...or was that really it? She could be pretty annoying if she tried...

"That reminds me," Valery continued after a moment, her eyes shimmering with mischief, "Do you have a middle name? Or was it always just Kahlil?" Without saying another word, she turned on her heels and began to walk through the Temple hallways. Back to an area that few Jedi had explored yet.

She couldn’t explain why, but the way the blond had spoken towards both of them left a bitter taste in her mouth. Lips pressed into a thin line, the Kazelrrian quietly biting the inside of her cheek to keep her frustration in check as she turned her attention to the contents that had scattered across the floor instead.

Quietly she began to gather them up, choosing to give the unknown boy his wish for solitude as her attention focused on Zaiya instead. "N-No, accidents happen… sorry I got distracted, I should’ve been helping you with these instead." Unfortunately none of them could turn back time, but that didn’t mean they should let one moment sour the rest of their day.

"Really? I’d never heard of them before." She still wasn’t sure how a Yum Bunny was supposed to look like, but Mahsa was more curious about the food than whatever uniform their staff had to wear. "M-Maybe we can go one day then…?"

The last of the items had been picked up by the time Nulgath had finally approached, a cautious smile given to the Lord Immortuos as he seemed to show concern over the Lovalla. He’d been whisked away shortly after they’d escaped the station safely, and she had wondered what had become of the Sith during that time.

"W-We never got to thank you back then…" She was glad to see him well, or as well as a being who’d suddenly been cut off entirely from the dark side of the Force could be, as the Kazelrrian gave a little bow towards the elder. "Thank you for helping us make it back home safe."

Sure, technically the infection had been a problem Lord Immortuos himself had started, and he could’ve very easily lead them all into a trap instead before escaping with the rest of the imperials aboard the station… but he’d chosen to help them instead, and for that Mahsa was honestly grateful.

"Y-Yeah, what is it—oh!" Whatever request the Lovalla had died as a vibrant aura rushed down the corridor they stood in, citrine hues spreading through her hair as Mahsa felt a comforting warmth wrap around her shoulders.

"Do you think it was one of the Masters—" Her words cut off as she finally realized the lingering darkness where they stood had lessened, her gaze turning back to the runes on the walls as she scanned them intently. "Zaiya look, some of these aren’t pulsing anymore!"

Hrm…

He wasn’t so concerned about “honorifics” and normalities like his father was, but being called “Connel” by Padawan he had just met had made him understand Caltin’s adherence to being called “Master Vanagor” in formal arenas like this. He would not correct the Padawan, that was bad form, and again, it didn’t bother him at all, but he grew a little more understanding of titles and formalities.

Alright then, no problem. Make sure you join in when you’re ready though, okay? Buster was busy being the center of attention to a trio of “Service Corps” members, when they were given the go ahead to pet him (not that they needed it, the pup is all about the scratches). Connel just wanted to make sure that Roman was okay and not feeling like his presence was no longer necessary, the Knight himself had felt that in the past and it was not a good thing. He may be following the path of a “Shadow” now which meant a lot more solitary time, but he could still be who he was.

Alright Kuhbee; focus on the item, try and imagine the hand and slip it under and slowly lift it. When you are comfortable, focus and visualize that hand moving and carrying the item towards you until you can put it down.

2pwZ0kc.jpg
He took a few times to repeat this and help the Padawan learn the skill (even if he hadn’t gotten there yet) and get comfortable. After a few more times, Connel looked back at Roman.

How are you on throwing? Looking down at the Wookiee cub with a perked eyebrow that would make his father jealous, he quipped.

Time for some fun… A true statement, this is one of the “basic” skills, he still enjoys to use… mainly because he plays “fetch” with Buster with it.

Helen smiled at Eloise Dinn Eloise Dinn , eyes noticeably falling on the gloved hands for a half second more than normal, realizing Eloise wouldn't feel Helen's lack of a pulse through such thick gloves, shook her hand, and looked at the darkened doorway, feeling the Dark Side subtly pulse like an oozing wound.

"I'll get right on it, Eloise..." Helen said with a smile. "It's nice to meet you..."

Helen immediately went to examine the corrupted runes, though her mind inevitably wandered to where the contact was as she examined the ugly, unpleasant symbols that radiated from it. Where were they? And how could she get to them?

Gradually, the shape in the pit took on a crude humanoid form at the Masters influence, until the shape began trying to crawl out the pit on its own.

She didn't feel anything. She had a panic attack. She could not breathe

"Shhhh. It's alright...it's alright...your mind will adapt to not having a heart or lungs..." The Master of Forging assured the spirit in the clay body, patting her on the shoulder to try and calm her down...

The humanoid clay figure tried to take a step...and her right leg collapsed into a pile of muddy clay. She fell to the ground, her body losing definition

"Focus," The Master commanded. "The clay your new body is composed of responds to your commands. It's held together by you..."

The Clay Body struggled to move, only to fall to all fours, crude hands turning basically into mounds of mud as it tried desperately to crawl.

The Master sighed...

"It appears we shall have to find new ways to motivate you..."

The Master reached into a nearby bag, and pulled out a dented bloody lightsaber, showing it to her.

"This weapon belonged to your Padawan. He was found next to you. Almost like a son to you, from what I am told."

(Cutaway of Syd Celsius declaring Starlin Rand Starlin Rand a master)

The Master placed the Lightsaber on a pedestal at the opposite end as the spirit in the clay body continued to panic.

"If you want it...you have to make your body obey you..." The Master said.

The Clay Body shook in fear and terror, reliving being crushed. But it saw the lightsaber.

(THIS Plays)

She crawled forward, the first motion taking her back to that dirty floor in the Coruscant Temple. She could see her student lying in the distance. The rubble fell around them. Her legs were gone, taken out at the edge of the turbolaser blast, her jaw shattered...

...the Clay Body forged ahead, a mindless urge to reach the damaged hilt all that made her body stay together at all...

...She couldn't breathe as she crawled through the Coruscant rubble, coughing violently as she crawled forward with her one good arm...she heard the shouts of others dying. Missile impacts hitting the temple...

...The Clay Body took more definition as it struggled forward, the hilt still gleaming with her student's blood...

...Almost there.

Every movement through the temple floor was torture. But she had to reach him...

She had to...

He was inert. No sign of breathing. Tortured heaves of air from a shattered rib cage poked at her insides...

...The Clay Body began to hold itself together better, its crawling becoming faster...

...She finally reached the boy, in his late teens. He had at least another three months before she felt he would be ready to take the trials...

She checked his pulse with broken fingers. Nothing. He was cold, stone, dead.

She heard a crack above her, she rolled over and saw the ceiling above, falling like fat chunks of burning rain...

Helen of Ossus did not even bother to raise an arm to protect herself. She simply lay next to her dead student and waited...

...The Clay body grew more defined as it actually began walking, no longer losing slimy chunks of itself in the process, it's muddy hand forming fingers to reach out and grasp the saber, forcing the fingers to stay intact, forcing herself to focus to hold onto it. (Enter Sandman: 7000 XP for Spider-Man 3 reference!!!)

Helen of Ossus forced her clay body to take the form she had in life, that of a tall, bronze skinned woman with long, flowing chocolate hair and she was quickly covered in a green robe by a Flesh Academic...

"I welcome you into The Academics of Flesh..." The Master of Forging said...

Helen applied the Light of the Force to the corrupt rune, slowly but surely burning it away. You had to be careful with these. Going to fast with something like this caused...adverse reactions sometimes...

Absently skimming two fingers against the rowed spines, Jack barely acknowledged the third newcomer from the corner of his senses, so focused was he on the history that surrounded him. Who'd blame him? It was a sight to behold.

So much so, the Jedi Knight started travelling further into the small archive's depths, as if feeling pulled there. But it wasn't another book, that'd soon catch the young Jedi's sight, pausing between two shelves side-by-side, the fact of which had Jack mesmerized.

The banner of the old Jedi Guard; tattered and battered with filth, age has not even rid away the power the simple decoration held, proudly proclaiming the might and history of their ancestors. The blue ripped flag was in more or less good condition, which reminded the young Knight.

Pulling out his recording device again, Jack raised which to lips, activating, "Myself and Jedi Knight Fulo have managed to uncover an old Archive after small exploration. Many of these texts are old, most likely in the Temple's founding days." Staring up to the declared flag, in reverence, "But that's not all, the decorations here are telling of their own history. No doubt this is a mere glimpse to the discoveries we will make, as we further descend."

Shortly lowering the tool, it was hard to hide the inspiring awe in his voice. Nor the enthusiam.

"I've only ever done that once. Since then, I've never done it again" he said with a little smile as he began to slowly walk over to Jasper "Being from Azbrian I had some good teachers, writing wasn't too much of a problem for me" he was homeschooled by some two parents with exceptional handwriting. It was going to be hard not to follow suit, especially when they were so adamant about getting it right.

"Yes, I do know my way around battle mediation. What are you trying to do Jasper?" The knight asked curiously as he now stood beside his friend, staring down at the large crystal with a raised brow. Silas wasn't sure what Jasper was brewing, yet he was more than willing to help out. Treasure hunting could wait in the meantime.

Slowly, he looked back to see Braze and briefly nodded to him "Long time no see kid" the knight said respectfully "I hope you helped carry the crystal with your old master, this kind of thing can do a number on your back" Silas already knew he didn't, he just couldn't help tease the Jedi brat after so long. Deep down though, it was just great to see them doing well. The pair of them seemed to have grown stronger, not just with their ability but their bond.

Silas sat himself down and kept quiet, allowing Jasper to concentrate on the crystal. In the meantime, he started to calm himself and battle meditate as instructed, awaiting further instruction from the master.

"I'll get right on it, Eloise..." Helen said with a smile. "It's nice to meet you..."

"Nice to meet you too," Eloise said, watching Helen enter the room. She had picked up on the woman's reluctance to shake her hand, though that could be for any number of reasons, and she wasn't going to pry.

While she continued her work patching the holes, she kept an eye on Helen's progress. Cleansing an area of Dark Side corruption was a skill that was beyond Eloise's reach, but she found the process fascinating to watch all the same. Under Helen's hands, the Sith runes disappeared, their power lost.

"By the way, small tip, you might want to shield your tools with the Light Side. "I can't do that Force Light stuff," Eloise muttered. "Not pure of heart enough or whatever. But thanks for the head's up." Someone had informed her that the section of wall she was now working on was safe to patch, or else she wouldn't have been there with spackle in hand. "Say, I don't think I've seen you around before. Are you from one of the Enclaves?" she asked.

"It's like a…" she pursed her lips in thought. "Like a concentration of dark energy, fashioned into a spear. It's not something not that can be seen, but sensed." A fingertip trailed along the groove in her skin. "I was fortunate that I'd managed to move at the last moment, or the damage could've been far worse."

The knight made a noise of agreement from the back of her throat. Stories, indeed. Idly, she wondered about the poison blade that had carved into the Padawan's face, but wouldn't press. "Of course," she said as he thanked her. "I enjoy passing on what I know. I am sure that you will, too."

A healer from Arkania. Cora cocked her head in thought, filing through her recollection of the New Jedi roster. Bernard was the only Arkanian she knew of, and he didn't hang around Alliance space. He didn't seem to be the type to heal, if she had to guess.

"She sounds rather skilled. Healing and purification are adjacent skills." The former she'd never learned, which was something she'd given thought to rectifying. Too many times both she and her injured comrades might've fared better if one of them had been able to mend wounds.

"Is it true that you are of noble birth, Padawan Valoren?"
