Restoration of the Jedi (SJO, TJO Only)

Rachel really wasn't sure why she was here. Great it was some ancient Jedi ruins. But that just proved more to her that the current Jedi were simply smarter than their predecessors as they didn't leave ruins of temples everywhere. She said down on cliff overlooking the ocean. She was actually doing some more of her research even while she wasn't working.

Funny how originally she had been so outgoing and open to chat away but now that she had done a few things with her master she had become more of a shut in. Someone who was less likely to go out on an adventure and more someone who would go along to perform more research and broaden her horizons. Someone had to do her job, trying to make sure people would survive their battles.

However she felt someone not far behind her. She turned around slowly looking up and seeing a new face of [member="William Westender"]. "Hi there, I don't think I have met you. Name is Rachel. Don't mind the pad, just doing some more work for my master for some reason I just can't stop anymore. Oh well I am sure it's nothing. When did you join the silver's?"

Lilla nodded, she knew the Silver Order had been working on this planet for some time now, restoring the old structures and erecting new ones, but the extent of the work was a slight surprise – as was the number of Jedi present.

“It is good to have this as a working site, and not some monument to the past,” she said. “Did any of the artefacts from our recent expedition end up here at all?” The haul had been significant and much would no doubt have gone into storage, or been allocated for historians to review, catalogue and finally make available for use or mothball – depending on its practical or aesthetic value.

William's thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of a girl whom somehow he didn't notice until she was right in front of him. This isn't good, he thought. I should pay more attention to my surroundings. "Greetings, miss Rachel," he responded in a formal tone. "Baron William Mordecai Westender," the man introduced himself.

He had a confusing aura, one which was oddly calm on the surface, yet conflicted and troubled beneath that. He bled both light and dark and there was a solemn sadness beneath all that, as if he struggled with something.

It wasn't just his mannerisms that were aristocratic. The finely-tailored red coat he wore over his clothes was clearly cut in an upper class fashion and made out of quality materials, although it was a bit faded and worn, as if he had been using it for several years. Other than that, he seemed to not carry any weapons or items to indicate where he fit into Silver Jedi society or hierarchy.

"I've only recently arrived, actually," he replied to her question. "I only joined as a Padawan a few days ago," he explained, somewhat awkwardly, as if embarrassed at his lack of experience. "I've yet to be assigned to a master," the baron spoke, not yet revealing his reasons for seeking out the Jedi.

She had a grin to that as she spoke. "Yes a few of them for appraisal, we can work and see if the artwork featuring jedi had been created by artists or others. We have also brought a lot of the crystals here. Artisan's love exotic materials for seeing what they can make of it." The jedi master was walking towards all of them. She could see a lot of people and was making it nice and open for the likes of some of the jedi to come down and join them. The jedi master had a look on her face though while she was walking and leading the way to one fo the overlook areas. Below she could see the waters and the pit.... hole whatever you wanted to call it that interested a few of the jedi coming here. THere was also the entrance to the repository of knowledge.

Lilla was pleased. Her previous work with Master Ike was a long mission and they were no grave robbers – nor were they simply collecting artefacts for storage. Wherever possible, what they found was returned to rightful owners – be that organisations, families or even governments. Any Jedi specific relics were reviewed to see how any learning could be shared across the many stripes of Order across the galaxy – and were largely entrusted to the Silver Jedi for safe-keeping. Lilla had no vested interest in who looked after them – in her opinion, there was no ownership, merely stewardship until the next generation of Jedi would be entrusted to care for them.

There had been a number of more exotic crystals found and these would prove useful for testing – and therefore informing future Jedi.

“Do you usually see so many visitors?” she asked, aware that this was in many ways a site of pilgrimage but also a working Jedi site for research and learning.

Rachel looked the man up and down again. "A baron? What's a baron doing becoming a Jedi for? Baron of where more importantly I guess." She would ask [member="William Westender"] pulling herself out of her work again. She could feel his aura and her spirits told her he was massively conflicted however they were unable to discern about what exactly. He looked every bit the prince from a fairy tail too.

The breeze from the sea would wash through her air as she looked at him for a bit. "I mean I got my master before I even actually joined. Strange they haven't given you one yet. I would suggest mine but he can be a bit of handful at times." She then thought a while longer before finally deciding something. "Your conflicted about something. I can't tell what and I am not going to ask. I myself have my own issues that I don't share."

She then continued "But if you ever need to chat to someone, feel free to come find me at anytime in the labs. I am sure my master won't mind me speaking with a fellow padawan." She looked out at the sea. "In any case best of luck finding a master, I am sure you will find a good one."

She felt a sudden tension from Charlie as soon as she mentioned Tython. She could only imagine it reminded her of the restrictive Enclave there.

"The Silver Jedi currently have a strong presence on Ahch-To," she mentioned trying to assuage Charlie. "We'll be in good company."

It would actually be interesting to see how everyone was working together on the surface, between Sasori, the Caretakers, SJO, and other visitors running around. She hoped for harmony, but everyone had come to the island with their own agendas.

After one more pass, she turned toward the island for a final landing. There were quite a few ships already docked, but it wasn't too hard to find an empty spot for the small shuttle.

"We have arrived!" she exclaimed as she unbuckled her seatbelt. "Feel free to explore, but I'm going to check in with the local research team."

She was intrigued by the prospect of visiting the Caretakers first but thought it better to visit with the resident Jedi for an introduction with familiar faces.

Charlie nodded at the other Jedi that spoke to her answering her question posed to her Master. Looking out the window she wondered how many islands there were and if anything, else was on them. It was obvious from the look of the island they were headed to it was the perfect place to build a temple especially if you wanted it to be big. Shrugging the thought off, she knew she was just thinking about it mostly to avoid thinking about what she was really focused on.

Jyoti reassured her, and Charlie nodded. With the SJO around and having a presence it meant that even if there was some sort of extension of the group she had come from – they wouldn’t bother with the Jedi there. At times she wondered what they were up too, but figured it was just more attempts at remaining vigilant against the dark side. They had arrived, and Charlie stood up quickly forgetting her seatbelt. After nearly strangling herself, the padawan pulled off the belt and stood close to Jyoti.

“I’ll go with you.” As much as Charlie wanted to explore on her own, she felt it was better to remain at Jyoti’s side.

It was decided that they would stick together. Drystan said little, disembarking the ship alongside [member="Jyoti Nooran"] & [member="Charlie Nooran"]. She brought up the rear, hanging back as was her custom - taking the time to evaluate her surroundings, taking in her first few moments on the planet and attempting to absorb as much data as she possibly could.

"Can you smell that?" She asked her companions, visibly breathing deeply of the ocean breeze.

A sot breeze stirred and a strand of blonde hair tickled her nose... The day felt warm in the sun but the air was cool and humid. She followed her companions, relying on her robe to conceal the red jumpsuit beneath and her lightsaber and the gauntlet she wore on her left side - an Ancile Shield, dormant but ready in a moment's notice. She set herself to walk slightly slower than the Grand Master and Charlie, following a short distance behind.

Believe it or not, Josh had never been to the planet of Ach-To, despite having a porg for his family. But the idea of a Jedi Temple of old, perhaps even one of the first... It interested him, for sure. He'd always held a desire for knowledge and while it was likely this one had been picked clean, the possibility that there might be some knowledge remaining was very tempting. Overall it would be a good trip, likely very educational. And as it wasn't going to be dangerous, he could bring Jason too. Somewhere safe for Jason to see, and to play his favorite game of learning about new animals and birds. Especially birds. Jason really liked birds. Of course Jason didn't know yet just what bird was native to this planet...

Josh had spent much of the shuttle ride entertaining the restless child, until Jason had fallen asleep. Exhausted, the father had fallen asleep in his seat as well. Which would no doubt provide an entertaining scene for [member="Jyoti Nooran"] and others when it was clear the two of them were sleeping in the exact same way, in the exact same position, head lightly to the side with a bit of a lean to try to flatten one's body on the chair for comfort. Jason's imitations of his father seemed to extend even to sleep. But Josh would be awakened by the cries of their arrival, and the Jedi would let out a strong yawn as he sat up, unbuckling himself. Gently waking Jason, he would unbuckle him and pick him up as he decided to let him wake up on his own time instead of rushing him to be wide awake and able to walk around on his own. The animals would wake him anyway.

With that, Josh would exit the shuttle. The air of the sea could be smelled immediately, and he looked down the cliff to see all that was below them. Clutching Jason in his arms, the Jedi would walk beside Jyoti and [member="Charlie Nooran"] as he would look around at the new sights abound...

"Surprising maybe but no we've had a number of jedi appear in droves. Some didn't like restoring and working on the temple. THey would rather it crumble and eventually fall into the sea. The caretakers can preserve it but they don't work mines to quarry stone, they do not cut new rock to build or rebuild." She said it when she could fel the others and Jyoti was there with Charlie and others. The jedi master stuck around though as she was looking at Lilla when she walked. "THough we'll have to see, I'll show you the repository as it makes the vaults we found at the citadel look small. The jedi library and information center that was here." She said it and walked towards the landing pad with some of the caretakers coming around. "Yes they might need fuel."

Lilla listened and followed Master Ike. The young Jedi Knight had visited many ancient sites in her relatively short career, but many she’d read about were no longer in existence or were on planets occupied by governments not necessarily well disposed towards Jedi. Plus, she was not some galactic sight-seer, ticking off some Jedi bucket-list. Unless she had a reason to visit, she wouldn’t – not that she would turn down the opportunity if one presented itself.

“I’d be keen to see the repository and maybe stay a while and examine any records that might be held on meditative techniques – it’s a particular area of interest to me.”

[member="Matsu Ike"]

"I sure do," she told Drystan, taking in a whiff of the salty breeze.

It reminded her of home on Kiribi, where most of the population was focused around the coasts and islands just like theses. While considered a Core world these days, one could still find whole regions of the planet basically untouched by technology.

Glancing over everyone who had exited the shuttle, it looked like they were all sticking with her on the way to the research station. Then she looked forward, greeted by the mother of all stairwells that led to the peaks of the island. With her face turned away from everyone, she frowned just a little. If it wasn't for the others she may have already started skipping over the stairs for her final destination.

Fortunately, it looked like the party was coming to them - she could feel the familiar aura of Matsu on approach. She would meet her halfway, leading the small group over the stairs, enjoying the vista of the twilight sea before her all the while.

After a few minutes, she could finally see Matsu walking with another. The Echani gave a big wave as she closed the distance.

"Greetings to you both!" she called out to both women as she came within a few paces of them. "Nice of you to come out for us. How goes it?"

Maki would nod to those within the temple before departing out the door and made his way down to the landing pad. Maki was curious as to who was in the ship that just arrived. Once he finally reached the landing pad he noticed Master [member="Jyoti Nooran"] and her padawan [member="Charlie Nooran"] Maki reached the landing pad and stood before Master Jyoti and simply nodded and then bowed before her. Master Jyoti, a pleasure to finally meet you, I am Maki Dominus, What brings you to Ach-to? I am personally here to learn things about the Ancient Jedi, I am always seeking knowledge about the past, it's good knowledge to have. Maki then looks to Charlie and nods to her. Greetings young one, a pleasure to to meet you as well. Maki returns his attention to Jyoti and simply awaits her reply.

Drystan stood off to the side, taking up a position beside [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] and his son, Jason. From beneath her hood, she flashed a smile at the Battlemaster, finding the breeze and cool air refreshing. The grand staircase rose into the sky, and Drystan began the march upward without complaint. "My... they sure did like their workouts..." She muttered under her breath to her companions. The climb continued, and Drystan's cloak stirred, whipped up in a sudden gust. She could feel ocean spray on her face.

She offered a brief bowtoward [member="Maki Dominus"], [member="Lilla Syrin"], and [member="Matsu Ike"]. She seemed to be unphased by the climb - as if out for an afternoon stroll.

"Greetings, friends. A pleasant day to you." She said, occupying herself a heartbeat later with investigating their surroundings. She typically grew quiet in the presence of a crowd, choosing to defer to the conversational Grandmaster of the Order to explain their presence on Ach-to.

Stairs.

Charlie stared at them hard hoping that if she stared at them hard enough they would disappear. Alas, her mental force powers were not enough to make them disappear. Smiling, the padawan followed her Master happily along trying to keep up with the woman’s long stride. Frustrating it was to have such short legs.

She continued to climb and about a fourth of the way, she sighed heavily. Her legs feeling the weight of her petite frame, maybe she should lay off the sweets. The smile twisted into something forced, but while they met others along the way. She would receive hopefully a moment break. The padawan waved as the masked Jedi greeted her. Charlie nodded and gave he man a polite bow, bending at the waist. Oddly, she stayed bowed for moment too long it felt nice to not be standing straight up after their climb.

Coming up from the bow, she spoke quietly, “Hello, nice to meet you too.” Looking away towards, the blonde woman that had spoken to her back on the ship. The padawan examined the woman seeing if she was strong enough for the extra load of a sweets loving padawan. Charlie noticed Josh and smiled sweetly, the man was capable, but he was with Jason and the Seoulian girl was suddenly jealous of the toddler. Eyes peeled away as Charlie gave her Master a tired look, hoping the woman would understand the trials that had tired the young girl.

While waiting from a response from Matsu and her partner, a new person stepped forward to introduce himself, a man sporting armor bearing an uncanny resemblance to Revan. She had come across many Revanites in her time, but were usually found following the Dark Side.

"The pleasure is all mine," she said with a small bow of mutual respect. "Nice to meet you, Master Maki. Like you, I'm also here to learn about the ways of the first Jedi, and see if I can find some useful wisdom to share with the Jedi of today."

From the sounds of it, Maki already knew his way around the island. She couldn't pass up a useful guide.

"As this our first time on the island," she started, motioning to the party around her. "I think I would be up for a little tour before dark. What do you say?"

Maki smiles at the young [member="Charlie Nooran"] and then offers a slight bow to [member="Drystan Marakos"] then turns back to [member="Jyoti Nooran"] I actually don't know much about the place, it seems restoration projects have been under way. There was a massive tree nearby that seems to have burnt down long ago, it was hollow, maybe one of the other masters could give you a tour, my sincere apologies. Maki looks around at other Jedi that possibly could give the tour.

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
Matsu looked at Lilla and Jyoti as she spoke. "THe repository could be visited and a tour can work." She said it looking at the jedi master and the others while producing a hand as she pointed. "Well we can start from the beginning. THe landing pads have been fixed and set with a dock to go to the other islands. Where we have found a few off site caves with more jedi murals. THe cartakers aren't the only group here there are actually several and each oversee parts of the temples collecting what is left behind by the jedi who visit and reset the temple itself. Seems a tradition that they picked up and have just been keeping it going for the centuries."

Best way to explain it though when she went down from the room. "From there we have stairs leading around the island and tunnels, crypts, alcoves that are used by the caretakers to move around and store supplies that are left for those who need them. Sometimes one or sometimes a group." SHe moved and then looked out over the ocean. "THough much like the repository and sections of the temple, the caves, the docks. There are many things on this world that are older. We know from stories that the oceans were once lower and with that cities and larger structures that have been submerged. The research teams have been working in the star temple below the ocean."

She continued to walk and talk about it pointing things out like the areas they had worked on to improve cultivation of food, raising their livestock and things like the thala siren's. Hatcheries mfor fish in the water and aviaries where they could raise some of the porgs specifically for food. The jedi master stopped then at the top of the temple and an overlook with an alter almost as she looked down at the jedi emblem. "We have a few other things as well uncovered, the crystal caves have been searched before by master crieff and corvus helped find this island so their contributions are not overlooked."

Lilla bowed to the newcomers, before returning her attention to Master Ike. It was always fascinating to hear an account of restoration work first-hand. Journals were useful but often glossed over the transformation from one state to another – leaving out facts that Lilla always found of interest.

She was initially surprised to hear how much existed underground. More modern temples – and by which she meant anything in the past few millennia – tended to be above ground, and their architecture typically bland. Here, it was clear that it was easier to go down, as opposed to up. Maybe as a nod to the elements, or perhaps to utilise existing tunnels and catacombs. Or, as she listened further, to avoid having to deal with the rising sea-level.

The mention of crystal caves piqued her interest. She always looked for new materials for her saber and shoto, and wondered if she’d have time to take a look.
