Rise Above My Station [Commenor]

Kendall again began to follow behind Darlyn. "Then off we go. I presume the pilot will be here soon and I will brief you all on the way." There's no question that Darlyn held the authority over his own men, to think otherwise would be absurd, and Kendall felt that he'd have his time to be in control. With Kwenn station he'd be able to lead, he'd have resources and allies, two things he had never been able to hold on to in the past.

Bradshaw Ku

Crown Prince of Commenor
As soon as [member="Veiere Arenais"] told him to ‘take back the controls and return’ them home, Bradshaw jumped at the chance. He certainly didn’t need to be told twice to start piloting again. He slid into the pilot’s seat and began eagerly adjusting the controls. The main engines fired, the thrusters kicking him back into the seat’s warm embrace – always a great feeling. G-forces pulled him to the side as he acutely banked the craft toward the planet, aiming for Chasin city, and more specifically, the Palace.

He’d heard the older Jedi acknowledge that those he sought vengeance against deserved to be brought to justice and he heard the warnings. But, what he didn’t hear in all of it, was any suggestions about how to bring them to justice. It simply didn’t make sense. How could he agree that they needed to be brought to justice, but then only have words of warning? Where was the action needed to force Masq and everyone else to justice?

“So we agree,” he said with some derision as the craft reentered the atmosphere. There was no need to ask for landing permission of course, the Vagabond having had free movement on Commenor for quite some time.

“And yet, all you have are words of warning. You say they deserve to be brought to justice, but you’ve yet to suggest any ways to do it. Let’s pretend that seeking vengeance might destroy my integrity, or whatever, or that it might increase the threat to [member="Lady Kay"] and Commenor. Alright, let’s pretend all that. How then, with all your wisdom, do you suggest I go about bringing them to justice? Even the Jedi must have ways to rid the galaxy of their enemies without losing their integrity and all that.”

The palace was now growing in the viewport. He took out his commlink and sent a message to [member="Darlyn Excron"], notifying him that Veiere and he would be momentarily landing at the palace in the Vagabond. Then with surprising smoothness, Bradshaw eased the freighter onto the landing pad and cut the engines.

"The concept of the Jedi has been truly marred over the generations" Veiere countered [member="Bradshaw Ku"]'s curiosity with a hint of intolerance, the subject being a negative one for how the Jedi had turned since his younger days spent in the Order. "We used to be known as keepers of the peace and we refused those that might hire us as soldiers for war. The Jedi Order never used to take up a place in politics, they resided over balance in the force and cherished all forms of life, guilty and otherwise, they all had their fair dealings and only those that refused to change in their ways suffered against the seven forms of combat that we taught to our students. We were ever the Order to protect those that couldn't do so on their own, that didn't have the strength to fight for themselves...-But this didn't mean that we went out of our way to kill others. It was an absolute last resort and one I still do my utmost to avoid..." where his words earlier might have sounded like those of a classroom, now his tone met with the feeling of lecture, his voice becoming both more confident and stern at the same time, as if the teachings that he had been brought up upon were being challenged and in truth they were being challenged though not by Bradshaw but every other remaining sect of the failed Order that had blurred the lines in which they used to follow so strictly. Veiere himself having turned away from them following the battle of Atrisia and in his mind, the true death of the last great bastion of the Order he had dedicated three decades of his life to.

A moment passed them before he would speak again, the frustration in him evident upon his expression though he cast his gaze away out into the dark of space for a time until he could settle himself. "There are other forms of justice away from blind murder..." He exclaimed, turning to look back to Brad with a slight twitch in his eye though his gaze softened upon the lad, understanding the boys youth and lack of experience and a worthwhile role model for the years he had been without his mother. "Justice is not our place to decide, the same laws that apply to citizens in this sector of space apply to all others too, ourselves and most especially those that would oppose us. Where we step in is where others fail to arrest them but we are not to be judge, jury nor executioner, that is the role of democracy, of governance of which is lead by the ministers of justice on Commenor; not by our pride nor lust for vengeance. When you cross that line, you bring yourself down to their level, a criminal against the system, a system that has been built up upon the fair treatment of all its citizens..."

Bradshaw sensed [member="Veiere Arenais"] become more serious, if that were even possible, while he spoke about what the Jedi order used to be and of course, what his idea of justice was. His idea of justice, in Bradshaw’s best estimations, was to give his soon to be wife’s tormentors a second, third, fourth… chance. Of course, none of that made sense. He said there were other forms of justice besides blind murder, but was it actually blind murder to rid the galaxy of torturers and murderers? He didn’t think so.

The futility of trying to get Veiere to seek revenge alongside him was becoming clear. However, the Jedi hadn’t shut the door completely. Maybe there was another way.

So what if he couldn’t personally play the role of judge and executioner, that didn’t mean he couldn’t get what he wanted. Any Commenori court would sentence all of them to death, he was sure. So, all he had to do was get them to court, and the legal system would be his hand and his blade. It wouldn’t be nearly as satisfying as killing them himself, but at least he’d know they weren’t still walking around, living their lives as if nothing happened. Besides, nothing was to say he wouldn’t cut their throats himself before they made it to the courts, if he got the chance.

“Let’s bring them to justice, then. The courts can’t do their job unless they’re brought before them for judgment. If we’re supposed to step in when others fail to arrest them, now’s the time. Others have clearly failed,” he said, getting up from the pilot’s seat. He turned back to the older man, “Help me bring them to the courts."

Then, he sent another message to [member="Darlyn Excron"], telling him that they’d landed and asking where he wanted to meet for the mission. Seemed to him like the palace landing pads would be as good a place as any, but then again, he had no idea what the mission was about, or who else was involved.

Veiere leaned back within the Co-pilots seat as the vessel settled down and they awaited further instruction from [member="Darlyn Excron"], though the subject that had been brought up between them kept him distracted enough to want to continue to hash it out with the young [member="Bradshaw Ku"] beside him. "I will admit that upon seeing someone of the likes of [member="Darth Prazutis"] before hand, he is not a man I would feel would submit at all to your wish to bring him into court...-Though presently there is no greater adversary that I owe a reunion to than that man for what he did to your mother. The fact is that you're not nearly ready to take on that sort of burden, he's far to powerful and I doubt even I could bring him in alone..." Veiere crossed his arms over his chest, his body language seeming to show a sense of withdrawal as his thoughts went back to Kay's previous capture and her less than civil return to the stage of Commenor.

He had lectured Bradshaw once already on the need for restraint and focus, the struggles of morality and the lure of the Darkside yet buried deep within him remained that desire to catch up with the Sith Lord and make him feel for what he had done for Veiere's soon-to-be wife. [member="Lady Kay"] had suffered tremendously, they all had taken a significant blow from it and it had showed in the general air around Commenor, yet for all the time that had since past, Veiere hadn't been able to rid himself of that lust for vengeance and it was in that very feeling, that single hatred that he spoke not for his own sake but for the boys, using his present weaknesses to try to better educate Bradshaw despite the youth wanting to hear of it none.

"Don't misunderstand me here Brad'..." He spoke up after a moment of self-reflection, "None of what I have said should be taken as though I do not want justice for what's happened to your mother. I love Kay and though I dare to acknowledge it, if I put enough focus on these things I could find a hatred for these people somewhere deep inside, yet it is by my choosing that I focus not on these things and try to appreciate what is. Your mother is still here and she is growing stronger...-We are helping her to recover and her memory is slowly returning to her..." He paused to let it all sink in for a moment, part of him too needing to recognize what he was saying least his frustrations show across his brow.

"...It would be so much easier to want to kill these people for their wrongdoings...-But it is not the right way. Should you ask for my help, I will always be there but if it's murder that you intend to cast upon another, I would seek to deter you. For both you and your Mothers sake...".

Darlyn ended up splitting to collect his kit for this mission, the guardsmen meeting up with the ship beforehand to get settled in. When Darlyn would Ari be, he intended to have the entire team present, with his black robes fitting him rather nicely, his cloak fastened to him and the hood left down.

Compared to Arenais, the man looked every part his old Sith lifestyle. With a blaster and his lightsaber at his hop, the image was even clearer. Curious for most though, on his other hop was a mask, a perfectly smooth, mirror like mask. His old mask from bounty hunting, he did love to wear it. And this was the perfect time.

After everyone was assembled, Darlyn ran his fingers through his ginger hair and let out a small sigh. "So, this everyone?"

Darlyn broke off from the group to get his own equipment, so Kendall continued with the other soldiers down the pristine halls of Lady Kay's palace. They made there way to the landing pad and waited outside for Darlyn to return, Kendall walked closer to the ship and inspected it. It was larger than he expected, but nonetheless was an appreciated gesture. All in all the amount of armaments going into his operation was flattering, he'd have to reassure his gratitude with Kay later. The ship had an interesting shape, almost like a saucer with a tumor that was the cockpit. He could see the pilot and presumably a co-pilot sitting there, and he flagged them down before returning to the other soldiers.

"Thank you all for taking part in this mission with me lads. All should run smoothly if you follow directions." Kendall looked away from the soldiers as he spoke, taking in more of the surroundings. The most of a reaction he heard was a slight scoff from one of them. The lot had no reason to trust Kendall, but it was good enough that they trust Darlyn, and speak of the Devil, the Head of security returned dawning a well fitting black robe spotted with equipment. Darlyn questioned if present party was everyone for the mission. "It ought to be, I think this will do just fine."

Bradshaw Ku

Crown Prince of Commenor
Bradshaw listened to [member="Veiere Arenais"] explain why he wouldn’t go after Darth Prazutis. He crossed his arms, unintentionally mirroring the Jedi. Again, the older man spoke of it being wrong to seek revenge against the person who’d tortured [member="Lady Kay"], and yet, Bradshaw still couldn’t fathom why Veiere didn’t want revenge or how seeking such a thing could possibly be bad. Maybe his mother was recovering from the torture he’d put her through. That didn’t mean he should still be allowed to live. What if he came back and tried to do it again? What if he was doing the same thing to other people right this very minute.

His thoughts began to spiral down into darker and darker places. As they did, he became angrier. Maybe he wasn’t powerful enough to kill Darth Prazutis yet, but someday he would be. Just as the darkness began to take hold again, he was distracted by a blur at the corner of his vision. “Well then, I guess I’ll have to find him and bring him to justice by myself.” He said before turning to look out the window and down at the landing pad. A Weequay, standing with a bunch of soldiers, waved up at him before turning to speak to the group. He wasn’t sure what to make of the gathering until [member="Darlyn Excron"] joined them.

Of course, this must be the mission’s team. He turned back to Veiere, a big smirk spread across his face, “Looks like you just volunteered yourself and the Vagabond for a little mission.” He flicked a switch, releasing the ramp. I was hoping that was the right switch, he joked to himself before dashing off to the entry.

Moments later, he appeared at the top of the ramp, arms spread in mock welcome, “My fellow adventurers, you found me!” he exclaimed, then made a grandiose flourish, bidding them to board the ship, before Veiere tried to stop them. “Come one, come all… and will someone please tell me what we’re doing and where we’re going? It’s going to be awfully difficult to get us there, otherwise. I'm good, but not that good.”

Kendall turned back towards the ship's ramp, and looked over the man addressing him. The pilot, putting on a show for an introduction is a surefire way to leave an impression. Once he finished Kendall approached up the ramp, assuming [member="Darlyn Excron"] could handle his soldiers. "Kwenn, if you're not familiar i can put the coordinates in your ship." Reaching his hand out towards the pilot Kendall's lips spread into his signature grin. "Kendall Ginn, we'll be taking a space station together." He took a glance back to Darlyn and the soldiers. Considering such a small group the operation would have to go off without a hitch. Any casualties would not only be unfortunate, but leave a dark spot on his relations with Commenor, and that would put Kendall far too behind. His eyes flicking back to that of the pilots, Kendall knew it didn't matter, this was happening now or never.
