Rust Belt [RR Dominion of Balmorra]

======

Alarms blared on her sensors and Aeshi spun around in her chair to get a better look. "Chit-karking bantha-scum," Aeshi spat, as she yanked on the controls of the freighter. It was fast, for sure, but combat wasn't it was designed for. Survive, certainly, but mainly by outrunning. She pushed full engine power to the deflector shields and gunned the engines. The ship rocketed forward towards the planet as they hurtled towards orbit.

Droid fighters hurtled into the void, clouding and covering up her sensor screens. They appeared to be firing at the other fleet that she had contacted earlier, so Aeshi steered the ship in the direction of the fleet. Yes, it was on an intercept course with the fighters, but if she could get past their barrier, that would give her enough cover to reach the surface. She wasn't thrilled with the idea of docking on a nightmarish planet like this, but it was better than getting cut to pieces by the droids.

"Mayday," Aeshi broadcasted through the comms. "Civilian vessel caught in military engagement. Requesting clearance. I repeat, civilian vessel requesting clearance."

For a moment there was a lull in the fighting, the insurgents pulling away from the hole they had created, before suddenly they rushed through with three droidekas in toe, beginning to transform into the battle-state and release a volley of bolts! Shields engaged soon after. The Cathar lumbered back behind cover, knowing he would be unable to deal with one of them, let alone three.

From the increased amount of blaster-fire around the building, Nunak took note that there were many more engaging other teams. Calling to the others over commlink, he readied his gun, the nine barrels barrels picking up speed as the spun in unison. "I can't get through those shields, 'lest I blow through them under sustained fire. But that'll get me killed sooner than not. We've gotta do something, and quick, before we're all overwhelmed."

"Enemy fighters and warships inbound from the far side of the planet!"

Tylane frowned and steeled her fingers against her chin and lips. She hadn't expected any sort of naval engagement in this altercation. Apparently, someone was dumb enough to think they could take on the Republic navy. Then again, she found most people in the galaxy to be stupid so she should have expected it. Someday they would fight the Sith and Imperials, possibly the Mandalorians again. War was an inevitability, which most people didn't understand. War couldn't be stopped, it could only be delayed.

"Receiving a message from a civilian freighter in distress!"

"Launch fighters. Send Red squadron to clear a path for that freighter to the planet. The remainder of fighters should form up on the fleet," she said.

Fleet was a generous term. She only had a Nunb, Partition and a couple of Preservers with her. It would do, though. This wasn't a Sith naval armada they were up against, after all. Launching the fighters was a good start but she needed to make short work of the enemy fighter craft.

"Move the Preservers to the flanks to deal with the enemy fighters. Bring our main guns to bear on the ships that launched them and prelate for full engagement."

The Reparate Hope was a fairly beastly ship. It could hold its own against most destroyers lass vessels. With the fighters from the Nunb and the support of the Partition, she was fairly certain that they could win this particular engagement. She just had to be patient and wait for their foolish enemy to advance on them. Bait the trap. Undoubtedly the enemy was overconfident because they weren't facing a large fleet. She would use that to her advantage by presenting herself as a smaller, weaker force and not advancing aside from dealing with the fighters.

Sometimes war was just a waiting game.

The Surface: Covering the Gov Buildings

Nunaks voice crackled over his comms and the sky lit up with the tell tale flames of either transports of drop pods. colap could not be sure, but he knew things were about to go from bad to worse. They had few vehicles with them, and only a couple of crew serve heavy weapons. Not even a mortar or artillery piece. Not that it'd be of much use.

He nailed another three shots into a Mercs and watched him drop, then rolled a grenade out towards his cover as an insurance policy. At this point he was out of ammo. The rilfe dropped to his sling and he drew his Service Pistol, sighting down the rail.

"We're outgunned!"

"Droideka! Incoming!"

Blue shield bubbles popped and they found themselves ducking under heavy barrage.

"Use grenades! Lt pop a smoke signal."

Then he pushed his headset button. [member="Tylane of Isobe"] would be up there no doubt.

"Reparate Hope Actual this Arrow 3. We need a bombing run or orbital strike, precise coords. How copy?"

Another trooper went down, pegged twice in the neck. It was bad. The Captain reached out and snagged him by his drag strap, pulling him behind the cover he was working with. Another few movements produced his med kit.

"Cover me while I treat him Sarn't."

"Aye Sir."

It was a poop sandwich.

fleety battle

"They are coming around M'Lord!"

"Excellent! Half burn, put all cannons on their escorts! Full firepowa!"

Meanwhile flights of Fighters made their attack runs, escorting a trio of Heavy Bombers towards the Stern of the Reparate Hope, trying to cut down the length at max speed. Two of them broke off for Aeshi Tillian and followed her down.

"All Droidekas are away."

"Tighten formation, use our own escorts to soak up return fire, present their broadsides in front of our Lucrehulks."

He had somewhat of an advantage, in that Lucrehulks were cargo hauling beasts which meant they had a fair amount of fighters. Estimated half of those fighters were disgorged now, and the other half were spinning up. Stupidly he was closing range, perhaps faster than he liked. But Galax Tell wasn't known to be shy or bashful, that's why he was the leader of this lil ring.

"Bring us the day Commander!"

Things always had a way of getting more complicated. Whether it was unintended adverseries, adverse numbers, or some other manner of gambit, no plan survived contact with the enemy. It seemed this time it was unintended intervention by rogue Nemoidian elements attempting to secure the security of their region. The force currently on Balmorra was only a small detachment, Alyson did not understand their course of action, all this would serve is to poke the bees nest.

Alyson could care less about the politics of the matter, all she cared about was that there were now shielded droids moving in rapidly behind her. They did not escape her senses, very little did these days, so she got a little tiny advantage over the rolling menaces.

When they started coming in behind her she currently had her knee embedded in some poor sods ribcage, however, this provided her the perfect opportunity to counter the droids. Droidekas had a very major weakness, if you managed to tip them on their side they were essentially useless piles of garbage, the man she currently had grappled would make a wonderful projectile to knock over a vulnerable rolling droid.

The poor man was thrown at incredibly high speed at one of the droids, knocking it over and probably breaking the poor man's spine in the process. Alyson then wasted no time in cutting it in half. However, in the time it took to perform that maneuver, the rest of the rollers had gotten deployed.

The separtist ground forces were smart enough to high tail it out of there once the heavy weapons showed up, quickly retreating, pretty much paying Alyson no mind. This was a crucial mistake. She could hear the autocannon revving up behind her, but she knew it was futile. SHe had little to worry about from blaster bolts. Well applied Tutaminis and the Phrik armor she wore took care of mere blaster bolts easily.

Alyson started to formulate a plan, she had been around the battlefield long enough to know how to fight these metal idiots, it seems the troopers were not beneficiaries of that experience.

"Now boys today you are going to get a crash course in fighting droidekas. Now pay attention because this could save your life one day. These metal guys are all about intimidation, they look scary, have big guns, and walk slower than a tar drip; However, once you get to know em, they aren't really all that tough."

The droidekas knew no fear, they were merely machines intended to kill, nothing more. Alyson slowly approached the droids, deflecting the heavy bolts that they fired with great ease. However, they were killing machines, not tacticians.

"First, the shields make for great incapacitation tools if you have the right skillset, while for me it's as simple as a force push, for you all it might mean a big magnet or an explosion. As an added bonus, droidekas can't keep their shields up if they aren't standing up straight. Any of you like bowling?"

Alyson then proceeded to push one of the droids, using its shield to knock down dozens of the standard infantry behind them, before the droid itself fell on its back, unable to get back up short of rolling into ball form. Once it did she had it. Drawing her sidearm, a massive .44 magnum revolver, she blew a hole right through its computer, killing it almost instantly.

"Now I'll let you in on another little secret. Slowly roll a grenade at 'em, and it will roll right through. Your turn boys. Don't disappoint me."

Watching the general push the droids around as if they were toys, the Cathar removed a hand from the gun and drew his only two fragmentation grenades. Bumbling up to the woman he spied his targets. Giving heed to her words, Nunak slipped to a knee activated the grenades and rolled both of them towards two separate droidekas.

A bit too hasty on the first toss, it slid up to the shield before bouncing off and detonating. While it did not destroy the droid, it did blast through its shield leaving it open for another opportunity. The second one, more sluggish than the first, slid right on through before it too exploded in a shower of shrapnel.

Pulling away from the General, he dipped back into cover, engaging his weapon again. "One down," the Corporal half-cheered, half-announced.

Harley Fenstermacher

remeber it's not personal, just buiness
Harley slowly walked along through the hallways off the building with the Nemodian representatives, "I hear that the your forces are having a skuffle on the nearby planet too". "Something I would like to point out that anyone with ties to our council does not convey our universal decision, they are more or less a congregation of people that have gone rouge due to their own interests". That much was understandable statement, he had received reports of a small fleet mimicking a trade federation blockade of some old Lucrehulks and probably Munificent Frigate.

"Yes yes I can understand, I was in a similar place when the Republic took control of Nar Hasska, many of the Hutt crime lords resisted and you know a invasion broke out". "I myself decided to remain neutral, after the dust settled I was put in charge as senator, though with the Republic now in the core worlds I am more just the governor of the world on a council with my cousin". Though there was some rough relation with the nearby worlds, especially the ones that were all 'the republic abandoned us, woe is everything' even though once again most of those world underwent military annexation, hypocrites.

"But no matter we are here to talk relations, to be honest the best way the Nemodian people could join the Republic is how they did in the past with a senator and support team, nothing new to really put forward".

Aithne was already in the mob, or rather one of the people standing beside the man preaching for violence to be taken as he riled up the crowd. Her hands moving behind her and for a few moments nothing seemed to be occuring other than shouting. Her eyes ran over the top of the crowd and she found Abigail moving through it. Her eyes focused in on the woman, curious as she could tell this woman was new and not someone she had come to normally see here. She got curious and with a smile the young woman disappeared from the side of the man and moved into the crowd herself.

It did not take her long to reach Abigail and as Abigail would stop, Aithne would appear at her side now. She spoke after a few moments of listening, her voice low and directed at the woman she now stood beside.

"Hope you didn't intend on doing this yourself. The man up there is a bit interesting of an individual and can be quite violent. It took me a while to even join his group, much less earn his trust enough to stand beside him." She tapped her hand on her leg, watching the man.

"I would suggest waiting until this meeting of his is done, and for him to either act or return to his home, less issues with that and if I am correct, he will be leading this mob into a frenzy soon."

Aithne was, different. She was the product of her father, some would correctly say if they knew the two well enough. But with that said she was being pragmatic at this time. If they killed the man mid speech, like she had been sent to do, it would just make a martyr. She would need to show these people that the violence he is calling for does nothing but causes pain, and she was waiting for him to finally get the mob moving to do that.

"What do you say?"

Abigail carefully looked around from under her hood as a girl suddenly stopped beside her and spoke to her.

"I was planning to snatch his pouch hanging from his belt. That would give me an opportunity to lure him away", she eventually whispered back. The girl had a point though, and her words made Abigail realize she might have been a little too impulsive with her plan.

"Although I guess if he would realise it too fast, I'd find myself in quite a troublesome position", she sighed under her breath.
Now Abigail averted her eyes towards the woman standing beside her.
"And I should trust you, because..? How did you even know I was here to do anything?", she asked, scolding herself for not acting like she was just another bystander.

Not waiting for an answer, she sighed and turned away to let her eyes ran over the crowd. It was only getting worse. More and more people seemed to reach their limit and were becoming ready to act in what Abigail could only guess to be horrible ways.

To Abigail's annoyance she realised they didn't have much time, which meant she couldn't be picky with who to trust. She softly bit her lip as she returned her gaze to the woman beside her.

"If he is leading the mob into a frenzy it means we need to shut this down, now. I don't know about you, but I won't just stand here waiting while he is encouraging people to fight and kill. People are going to die, can you not see that? We don't have time to wait until he goes home, we need to act now", she muttered back while she ensured she kept her voice low.

Stardust. This is Red Squadron. Coming along for escort.

Aeshi leaned over and flipped the comm. "Copy that, Red Leader. Trajectory holding steady. Intercept in three minutes." With that she returned to her seat, just as another alarm blared from the sensors.

The woman took a look at them and shrugged. Heavy bombers. Those were the types fighters she was least worried about because quite frankly, they couldn't catch her if they went full throttle, packed on a jetpack, and launched them from a torpedo tube.

"Red Leader, be advised. Two heavy bombers following me. They're all yours. My guns can't get through them." In fact, most of her guns were designed to protect the ship on the surface. Not a fully engaged space battle like this.

She leaned over and flipped a switch, sending the freighter hurtling towards the planet at speeds usually only thought safe or advisable for fighters. Not bombers and definitely not freighters like this one. The ship sped forward, angling for a slight gap in the small Republic lines as her fighter escorts buzzed ahead to clear out enemy fighters. Her hands flitted across the controls as the Force guided her through the web of weapons fire.

Still the planet was growing closer and she willed every bit of speed that she could manage from the vessel.

Balmorra
As he keyed off the communicator and let it slip back onto his belt Avin rushed down another hallway this one luckily seemed as if it had already been cleared or the gunmen had yet to reach it, either way, he was glad to have a few moments to gather his thoughts and let the blue blade retracts back into the staff hilt. Avin took a moment to open one of the windows to his left and peak out over the edge. Down below he saw a gathering of infantry following two shielded droids into a hole. Avin waited until he saw one come hurtling back out and another seems to come back out as shrapnel.

This is where the fun begins Avin thought to himself before dropping off of the edge and falling down behind the men and igniting his weapon this time, however, the staff sent blue erupting from its ports once more yet this time both ends produced a blade from its silver cylinder. Avin turned to face the Gunmen as they enclosed on his allies the first two only now noticing his presence yet before they could let up he had already run forward and slid between the two across the rubble to bisect their respective legs and let them fall before slashing a third across the back then leaping over a fourth to cut across his shoulder twisting to land and impale him further through the stomach with the rear of the saberstaff.

As the final man fell to his knees Avin looked forward to seeing the lone destroyer droid still firing volley after volley of blaster bolts towards his allies. He spotted his fellow Jedi deflecting shot after shot as well as other troopers most of whom had been wise to take cover. He swiftly turned the rest of his attention back to the droid and reached out to the force to lift the machine off of the ground before slowly clasping his hand into a fist and watched as it slowly crushed in on itself until it was little more than a ball of metal and sparks on the floor.

"I do apologise for dropping in without calling." He said with a slight smirk as he deactivated the weapon and turned to his compatriots.

The girl wandered around the streets and practically was drooling over the various droids and other such technological wonders present. She was nodding to the beat of the music in head set, but as much aware of her surroundings as she could be. Somebody sneaking up behind her would certainly acomplish something they were after.

Her droid companions were around her in some way or another and her pet sat on her shoulder. Some would say she got along better with droids than organics. They wouldn't be entirely wrong either. At least droids didn't have emotion to get in the way.

As she walked the streets, Aren saw such an adorable looking droid that resembled a sort of dog. She just needed to add it to her collection. Now as she stole these droids, she didn't actually think she was doing anything wrong. In her mind she was liberating them from certain slavery and binding them to her.

The Surface: Covering the Gov Buildings
The next several moments found Colap stuffing gauze deep into the wounds on his Marines neck, wrapping it gently with a pressure bandage, but just enough to keep it from bleeding out. He ran his hands down the rest of the body, out of habit, sweeping for wounds.

"Sir let me handle this, you need to keep your eyes on the big picture!" His Medic said, shoving him violently aside till he fell on his butt. Under normal circumstances, he might have berated him, sworn at him or threatened a court martial. But he knew he was wrong. Leaders could not get sucked into the pin point details, they had to hold the brush and paint the broad strokes.

"Damn you man. You are correct."

The medic held up a bloody finger in the opposite direction.

"I Know I'm right, now get the hell out of the way Sir, grav sleds incoming!"

Colap nodded, pushing himself up with the butt of his rifle. So far they'd slagged half a dozen droids, and report indicated the original assassins were getting away.

"Status on Air Support?"

"Still Waiting Cap'n."

"Hold the line. Grenadiers, give us a fresh round of smoke!"

Small plumes rose in a semi circle through the city, clogging sensors and giving his men additional cover....

Aithne looked at the woman's face and sighed, knowing her own father would try to find a way to spare those that did not need to die.

She sighed and nodded, knowing there was one way she could get people to scatter without making this man a martyr in front of them all. If they simply scattered the crowd and arrested the man, things would probably be better in the long run, but his supporters would be vocal during that time.

Her hand turned and she spoke in a soft voice to Abigail, letting the other woman hear her and hoping that no one else could hear the whisper.

"I suggest you do not take long in apprehending the man, as I cannot help you without screwing up things. I will five you the opening you need and you will need to deal with the man's guard after I give you that opening. So you should be ready and well to do this."

She breathed in again and focused, her hand moving to a different position and after a few seconds of waiting, a sharp snap happened and fire pushed up through the crowd, scattering them to the sides and creating a path right to where the man was. That same fire curved around the stage he stood on and trapped him and his guard there while Aithne let Abigail do her thing.

Aithne in the meantime would continue to play the role and look for anyone trying to do anything to stop Abigail. She would not harm those people if she could, and vines would appear and grab anyone who would attempt to get through the flames, stopping them. Aithne could not act herself on the situation so openly, so instead she let herself fall back and to the ground as if caught off guard and slowly she pushed herself away from Abigail and the flames that flanked Abigail, letting the other woman do her work.

[member="Aithne Charr"]

"Do not worry, I am not alone", Abigail whispered back. "You do your thing, and I'll do mine. Easy as that", she then added with fake confidence as she stepped to the side, waiting to see what the girl would do.

The hooded woman slightly jumped as flames emerged and made their way through the crowd, forcing them back. For a split second she had her doubts about Aithne's methods, but before she could turn towards the girl she realised she didn't have the time. She needed to act now and ask questions later.

Abigail now stood inside the ring of fire, with the preacher just ahead of her, looking around in confusion. Getting to him was surely easier now than a minute ago, but there was one problem left. And that problem was the guard standing between Abigail and the preacher.

"Now, I assume a nice and friendly talk isn't some-"
Abigail gave the peaceful option one last try, but stopped halfway through her sentence as the guard took a rather mean looking knife out of his backpack.

The hooded woman sighed as the man stepped towards her with both fists raised, the knife clenched in one of them.
Abigail slightly bit her lip and muttered some words before she suddenly threw her hands in front of her face and sunk to her knees.

As the guard looked down at the crouched woman with surprise, he was suddenly blasted forward by an immense power. Abigail simultaneously braced herself as the man flew forward and she then pushed with her whole body against his knees, causing him to fall over her, head first into the ground, effectively knocking him out.
After having thrown a quick glance at the fallen man, Abigail stood up while she pulled her hood a little lower.

"Well, that went-", she paused for a little while as her eyes locked with the eyes of the preacher, who now had a gun trained on her head, "not that well, actually."

Abigail eyes flickered between the man and the Force growing restless next to the gun.
"Don't", Abigail whispered. "You've grown in power over the last few months, yes, but you've used quite a lot just now- and I don't want to have him pull the trigger while we find out the power you have left is only good for a little breeze. You can't take that chance", she muttered. "I can talk my way out of this."

"Alright, here's the deal buddy-", Abigail started with a louder voice, but was once again interrupted- this time by a blaster bolt only missing her face by a few centimetres. It took a Abigail a second to realise that the Force had blasted the gun out of the preacher's hand.
"You bastard", Abigail hissed, still on edge because of the bolt that had almost ended her story right there, before she sprinted towards the man who was trying to retrieve his gun.

"Sorry, but I can't let you get that back", she muttered under her breath as she grabbed the man. He tried to elbow Abigail in the face, but she managed to dodge his attempt and forced him to the ground with a kick in the back of his knee.

"And I also can't let you continue on stirring these people up, terrible sorry."

With a final burst of speed, the Stardust spat through a gap in the Republic lines and sped through to the other side. Lasers and missiles still crisscrossed this area of space, but it was less than the other side. Republic ships and their shields absorbed most of the rest. Aeshi slowed the ship's speed and adjusted course to settle towards a landing platform she had been informed of.

Sometime later, the ship landed gently with a hiss of hydraulics and gases. Tension oozed from her shoulders now that she was on the surface, although gunfire and explosions peppered a few areas in the distance. She frowned. That threw a wrench in her plans, to say the least. But perhaps she could still manage to make some business from this.

Conflict zones were always in need of resources and the family had the resources, abilities, and nerve to ship them in. She nodded and strode from the ship, keeping her blaster holsters unlocked as she strode into the city.

Alexander waited patiently for the incoming craft that was making its way down to the planetside. The area was a controlled one, kept clean and clear of all unnecessary traffic and the one who darted down to the planet now was coming for a legitimate reason. Alexander, even if he were an Echani like his father and his uncle had been in a position he used to hold, did not enjoy battle. He much preferred the softer things in life, much like the music he was known for focusing on.

Alexander did not take long to get to the landing zone that had been occupised, his eyes turning to the ship and its ramp down, though no one had come out. He wondered for a moment if they were remaining in but then caught the movement of someone along the far part of his vision. He completely missed the woman as she was leaving the area and sighed, annoyed he was not preparred prior to her arrival.

He took that moment to smooth out his clothing and starting to walk after her, clearing his throat and shouting to her as the sound of a few explosions caused him to raise his voice.

"Ma'am, I think I need to speak with you..." His eyes aimed at her and slowly caught up, taking the time to close the distance.

Aithne smiled as she watched Abigail do her work and when she disposed of the guard, Aithne would help her out and ensure that no one got hurt in the scuffle and to make sure no one escaped, vines coming from the ground and trapping the guard to the ground, holding him there for the authorities.

Meanwhile, there came the blaster which was aimed and narrowly missed the woman, flying past and off into the background. Aithne had remained on site for a reason and with a quick flick of her wrist, a stone was propped up and stopped the bolt from hitting anyone or anything. Aithne had retreated to the side of the area by this point, acting like she was merely watching the scene in interest. Abigail quickly dealt with the men and Aithne clicked a button on a communicator on her side.

It would only take a few minutes, but a squad of soldiers would arrive and clear the area, the fire dying around Abigail and her captives as Aithne watched. She removed a bar from her cloak and started to eat, staring and curious about this woman she had met but not quite able to talk with her anymore. The Soldiers she called would take over and handle the situation, leaving Abigail to do as she wished. And should she merely wish to leave, she would not be stopped or hindered, Aithne would be sure of that.

For now, she watched, interested in the little scene that had been granted to Aithne.

Aeshi stiffened as a voice called out from behind her. She spun around on her heel, hands deliberately loose until she could see who it was. Politician, maybe. Rich person. Both. They tended to run together. Another sound echoed from the distance and her eyes darted, but saw no threat from that quarter.

She waited for the man to catch up to her and held out one cybernetic hand.”Captain Tillian. What can I do for you?”

This shipment of cargo was already paid up and the droids were rolling in to empty the hold. She just needed to get the next load of cargo here. And from the look of things, that could easily have been passengers. Perhaps he was wanting to charter a way out. All she could do was wait and see.
