The S4C is a smaller, lighter derivate of the venerable S3A Blaster Carbine, the patent for which was acquired by Karavin Concern from the government of the Eternal Empire. It uses the same basic design, centered around an enclosed container which holds both the power cell and the tibana gas required by the weapon, enabling faster and easier reload, but in a more compact, automatic package intended to be fielded as a secondary weapon by Combat Engineers, or a personal defense weapon for security detail and law enforcement.
A lightweight repeating blaster, it is ideal for close quarters combat due to its high rate of fire, although its relative short range and high recoil make it extremely inaccurate and ill suited for engagements beyond two hundred meters. Additionally, as a measure to cut production costs, the design is highly monolithic and extremely difficult to modify without extensive redesign.
The S4C was adopted by the Eternal Army as a secondary weapon for its Combat Engineers, as well as military police units, law enforcement and some prison guards. Additionally, the weapon is available for purchase by civilians within the Confederate market, on planets who's laws allow it to be sold. It is a relatively popular weapon amongst criminals and smugglers as well.
It is also being pitched to the Confederate Defense Force as a light support weapon for commando units, most notably the 117th Dauntless Legion, as well as the planetary defense militias and police forces of the various Confederate worlds.
