Scrap dev for 1km ships

So the FJs, collectively, kinda realized that the 1km 10-post dev requirement doesn't really serve much of a purpose anymore. I know [member="Reshmar"], [member="Gir Quee"] and myself are strongly in favor of scrapping it (unless presented with a compelling counterargument or two), and [member="Tanomas Graf"] and [member="Jamie Pyne"] mentioned they're fine with scrapping it too. [member="Haytham Kaze"], [member="Erich Arnstein"], [member="Darth Vitium"] - thoughts?

To me 10 posts of dev for 1 km just seems like busywork, so I'd be in favour, though I must mention I'm not quite as familiar with ships as the others are.

2. Ships and stations at or above 1,000 meters will always require a development thread. Minimum: 10 posts, 1 writer.

3. Ships and stations at or above 1,700 meters will always require a development thread. Minimum: 20 posts, 2 writers.

4. Ships and stations at or above 2,400 meters will always require a development thread. Minimum: 30 posts, 3 writers.
How about this: drop 1,700 meters (#3) to 1,600 meters and then do away with 1,000 meters (#2) and call it a day?

I am aware the new factory staff is busy overhauling systems and improving things.

Can we look into this again? It seems the judges already had a consensus on it.

Yeah I can take this one and get it sorted [member="Cira"]

I keep the starship templates on plain text as the formatting is a little... Tricky

Will need approval, I'll put a proposal together.

I like that.

Also, can we do away with the '2 writers, 3+ writers'-requirement and let the writers decide for themselves how many people participate? I never really understood why we would have to force people to find a third writer, if they can do 30 posts between the two of them or even alone.

Want to encourage group roleplay, not dull solo spam
While I can understand that, we can be a bit insular on Chaos at times, all having our preferred group of friends. Which is natural. But requiring a group effort will punish or limit those who might prefer solo writing, or don't know enough people here yet that would be willing to invest so heavily in a project with them. Maybe a way to encourage it while still allowing solo efforts is a sliding scale? 1-3 writers = X dev posts, 3-5 = Y, etc?

Wasn't sure how to put it, but Julius captured my thoughts rather neatly.

Encouragement? Sure. But I don't think we should be forcing people to roleplay in a group, if they genuinely just want to stick to one writing partner for a project or even do it solo. As long as the quality and length are okay, why should we be enforcing anything else?
