Searching for a Teacher

She chuckled at his comments. At least he sounded excited – that was something good. At least maybe he would be willing to do for a while, too. She could avoid having to find someone else and going through the a similarly awkward process. “Well, it would have sucked to have just been kicked out, so I’m glad to hear that.”

She gave him a smile. She gave a small shrug, “Um, I guess we could take a little break. Got any water?” She asked after a moment. Assuming he said yes and that they would probably need to go somewhere else, she decided to make some small talk. “So… Tell me about yourself, Alor Gred?

Mig couldn't help but laugh lightly when Beth noted how bad it would have been if he had turned her away. "Hey, glad to be able to help." It was definitely an interesting thought. If Mig hadn't have helped. Beth then said that a short break would be ok, and asked where the water was. "It's right over there," the alor said pointing over to a well.

It was then that Beth asked Mig about himself. The man smiled a bit, thinking. "Well... there isn't much to say. I've grown up here my whole life. My Buir taught me how to fight, how to use a Trayc'kad, and how to use the Force." It was then that he stopped speaking, seeming... hurt by his memories. "I had to take up the title of Alor Gred six years ago. Since then... I've been doing my best to run this Clan." He smiled a bit, looking back at Beth. "And what about you?"

[member="Beth Cadera"]

She gave Mig another smile. She was glad how the situation had turned out. What could have been a disaster had turned out to be pretty fun. Sure, she had no ability to walk in combat, but otherwise it was going pretty good. And he was a good instructor, which made it all the better.

She gave a nod as she began to walk over to the well. She gave a nod, though, as the man told her about himself. She sensed, and saw, the hurt. Six years ago, likely when his buir had passed on to the Manda. “I’m sorry,” she would say quietly after he finished speaking. “It seems like you’re doing a pretty great job at running Clan Gred, though. Seems like your people are fairly happy.
She had walked up to his house and saw some of the buildings, people, etc, and no one seemed to be suffering.

Beth smiled but shrugged, “Umm. Well, I was born on Mygeeto. My dad, Kaine, found me when I was 11 through a fated incident you could say.” Then he went to jail for using the Force on Mandalore… But, she did learn all sorts of stuff between Gray, Baiko, and Skosk before he vanished. “Pretty normal things after that. Trained, went to school. Still in school for medicine, actually. Um, I sing at a club.

She should probably leave the whole recent ‘tell me about yourself’ out of the conversation. She took a breath as she pulled some water up – and took several sips of it. Her mind got lost for a moment in the past year… It had been a terrible year. “Nothing too interesting,” she’d say with a slight giggle.

Mig looked back over a Beth when she said sorry, and complimented his work as alor. He looked around, smiling at his clan. Most were close aliit in some way or form, so Beth saying everyone seemed happy meant a little more to him. "Thank you. I think buir would be pretty proud right now."

The alor then listened to Beth, taking a drink of water as she did. Hadn't realized Kaine was her father. The galaxy had its ways of making itself seem smaller. She was also in school for medicine and sang. Mig chuckled a bit at the last one, but then he felt something from her. Some pained memories maybe. She then said nothing interesting with a bit of giggle, which got another chuckle out of him. "Really? Sounds pretty interesting if you ask me."

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth watched the way the Alor of Clan Gred glanced around his clan. He worked hard to keep his clan going. To keep them happy, productive, and moving forward. That was something not many could claim. “I think he would, too.”

Beth took a couple more sips of water. She enjoyed the cool water as it ran down her throat. Really, she hadn’t realized she was that thirsty until now. She had come hydrated for the training, but for whatever reason, she hadn’t been like she thought. She gave him a smirk, with a soft laugh.

You’re sweet. I guess it could be a little interesting, couldn’t it.

Mig smiled a bit when Beth said she thought his buir would be happy with his work. He also noticed she seemed really thirsty. Maybe she didn't have as much water as she thought? Hm.... He'd have to keep an eye on that. The woman then called him sweet. He chuckled a bit, a practically unnoticeable blush coming to his face before smiling. "Yeah. It definitely could be."

Once Beth had seemed to get her fill of water, Mig tapped her shoulder, pointing to the training area. "Ready to work on your foot work?"

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth hoped that [member="Mig Gred"] would take her compliment to heart. She was sure he already knew, but it was always nice to have validation from someone who was not involved in something. An outsider, looking in. It put a new perspective on things. Or something like that, anyway. Beth didn't really know. "But! To be fair, running a clan is much more interesting. Between watching my parents over the years, it can be very hard, intense, work. So keep up the good work."

She gave the man who stood in front of her another soft, small smile.

She perked a brow, one ear turned, as Mig tapped on her shoulder. Then, he asked if she was ready to work on her footwork. She took a deep breath, then released. "Yeahhh, I guess we better get to it," she said. Hopefully she wouldn't be falling on the ground constantly like before. She really didn't want to deal with the bruises.

Mig gave [member="Beth Cadera"] a small smile of his own, happy to hear her words. She definitely grew up within those who were leaders. Kaine and Yasha were great examples of leaders, and ones the alor honestly looked up to a bit. Instead of speaking he simply nodded, mostly because he couldn't really add anything to what Beth said. He did finally think of something at least. A simple "Thank you. I'll try."

The man let out a chuckle at the look his trainee gave at the tap. He could see and feel that she was a bit worried, particularly with her answer. He gave Beth a reassuring look, smiling as he did. "Hey. It'll be fine." Once they had made it back to the training area, Mig looked back at Beth. "Ok. So we're going to take this slow. Focus on how you're moving when you dodge and counter."

Beth simply gave the Alor a smile as he seemed to think of words to say or maybe just didn't really have anything else to say. She hoped she didn't step on his toes or anything. "No problem, Mig. I think I know you will." She said with another more playful smile. Maybe she had gotten a bit sappy, but she had meant it.

Either way. He was right - it was time to start training. She wouldn't learn anything by standing around and drinking tons of water. Beth nibbled her lip as she walked back to the training area behind Mig. "Slow sounds really good," she said a little excited by that prospect. Particularly, it meant less chances of her falling on her face in yet another embarrassing fashion. Maybe once they had been training for a while longer, it would be less of an issue for her.

"What's your best tips?"

[member="Mig Gred"]

Mig couldn't help but smile at Beth's comment. He could tell she was being honest about it, which made it even better to hear. It was nice to hear someone outside his own clan say what she did, and he hoped she understood that.

Once they were at the training area, the alor couldn't help but give a kind smirk when he heard how excited Beth was about the slower part of the training. He then gave a slight chuckle, think for a moment about the tips he could give. Mig put himself in a fighting stance before he began to speak, mimicking everything he was saying. "Ok. First, if you don't have to take a step back, don't. It may seem like you want to keep moving, which you do, but sometimes it's better to hold your ground. Second, when you move you have image where your opponent will be, that way you don't trip over them while dodging, or you can trip them as a counter. Third, you have a connection to the Force. Your reflexes will often be better then your opponent's. Trust it, and use it to stay one step ahead." He then smiled a bit, looking at Beth again. "One of the best ways to work on keeping your balance while moving is simply trying to avoid obstacles on the ground, like those groups rocks there. Taking a straight path through and avoiding them with your feet. Starting slow, and trying to get faster with time." He then quickly demonstrated, giving a lighthearted look. "Try going through this a time or two at your own pace, then start challenging yourself."

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth waited for [member="Mig Gred"] to begin his advice. Her face was serious, almost as if she was ready to be like a sponge and take as much information in as she could.

She gave small nods as he spoke, watching his figure definitely for the fighting stances. It was like a little preview for what she needed to do. First, she needed to be more wise about her foot usage – don’t move unless needed, but needed is usually frequent. Got it.
The second and third part was a little harder. She had to imagine and feel with the Force. She was extremely connected to the Force but in truth. The Force had helped keep her alive, without her realizing, for a good half of her life. But, in combat, she had a harder time ‘feeling’ what might be happening. She had some offensive abilities, like electric judgement.

But, Beth was much more of a healer. She gave a nod, though. She did need to make use of her abilities. "So, straight, use the Force, and don't fall. Got it."

She perked a brow, though. With that in mind, she walked through. She jumped over a few, and was careful about landing. The second time, she went around. The last time she did it with a bit of a jog. Then, she did it with a run – but, alas, on the last rock, she managed to get the very tip of her shoe caught on the tip of a rock she jumped over. She had realized, right before her shoe got caught, it was going to happen.

But it was too late. A fairly loud “THUNK” as her body crashed into the ground – but, she did manage to get herself into a roll, so the impact was not nearly as embarrassing or painful as when they first sparred.

Mig watched as Beth ran the little course, seeming to do really well. He cheered her on as she got faster, happy to see that she seemed to pick up on it quick. He smiled watching as she entered the natural minefield with a run. She had made it most of the way there before he foot managed to find the last rock. She feel with a tumble, and Mig quickly came over, checking his new friend.

"You ok," he asked, extending his hand.

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth ended up laying flat out at the end of the rock field. She just stared up at the sky - it was clear, with barely a cloud in sight. It was pretty beautiful - and she appreciated the sight even more at the moment. She felt like she had done well - the first couple times was easy, of course. Walking, someone wouldn't ever trip while they were paying attention. And in truth, she should have caught that.

But, she was getting in the rhythm of it, and that cost her.

Her clothes, at this point, had dirt all over them. Including in her hair. She looked towards Mig as he outreached his hand. She gave a nod before placing hers in his, and pulling herself up with his assistance. "Yeah, I think so. I knew that was going to happen." She started dusting some of the dirt off of her.

Mig helped the half-Eldoria up, chuckling a bit when she said she knew she'd fall. As Beth dusted herself off, her trainer simply smiled, and quickly spoke up. "Hey, it's all part of training. You won't be an expert over night." She had done really well on the natural course. Definitely a good starting point. He watched for a little bit longer before speaking again. "Well, if you want you can go again, or can try something else." He figured that she may want to try something different after that tumble. Who knew, maybe they'd find something she was a natural at.

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth continued to dust herself off. She even shook her hair some in an attempt to get the dirt out of it, especially that which had gathered from the last trip and fall. "Well, at least I'm learning I think." She added the important clarify of - she thought. She didn't want to be held accountable if she turned out to not do so good again. But, all in all, she felt like she was doing better and better.

She pulled up her shirt a little bit to look at one particularly nasty bruise on her left side with a small wince as she saw the purple-blue large that was encasing her side. "I think I might've hit the edge of the rock somehow..." She put her shirt back down. "Maybe we can do something where I hopefully won't trip?" She asked with a soft smile. Stupid Eldorai blood in her... The only good thing it gave her was an immune system.

Last time she had a cold was when was 10. Did it make up for easy bruising, though?

Mig smiled a bit. I was good that Beth felt like he was learning something. If she didn't think she was learning anything to begin with, Beth would've been more difficult to work with. Mig knew this from experience, as the trainee under his buir. He gave her a nod, chuckling a bit. "That's good. Part of training is knowing you're learning, even if you're questioning it." It was then that she lifted her shirt to reveal a large bruise.

The alor knew bad bruises when he saw them, and that one was pretty bad. Probably her Eldoria blood. The man looked at it, nodding when Beth said it must have been a rock. "Probably." She then took his offer with a smile, and suggested something with less of a chance of falling. Ok. Mig thought for a moment, having some ideas. "Ok. Would you rather work on your punches, or something a little less physical and work with the Force for a bit?"

[member="Beth Cadera"]

She carefully rubbed her side. Maybe she could heal it but… She tried to not use self-healing. She had to be able to take the pain, after all. And she wouldn’t have time to usually heal herself. And that energy might would be better used on someone else in a more serious condition. She gave a smile to Mig as he commented, “That’s true. You are very wise, my mighty teacher,” she said with a genuine but playful smile.

She gave a nod as he mentioned working on punches or perhaps the Force. “Oh, I can do some stuff with the Force.” She had some skills she was good in – namely Force Healing. And some lightning stuff. And some other stuff but not too much. “What are your specialties?

Mig chuckled a bit at how Beth put it, but he could tell she was being honest. He didn't really see himself as wise. Heck, he was still learning a good bit himself in all honestly. Her... he guessed aunt, Stardust been helping him with his Force training. Granted, he was probably one of the best fighters in his clan, so he definitely had that going for him.

He then heard his trainee say she knew some things with the Force, and gave her a smile. It was nice to know she had a basis for it. Then Beth asked what his specialties were. The man quickly lifted a rock with the Force. "Force Telekinetics." He then lightly shocked the rock. "Force Lightning, and some innate Force enhancing of my reflexes and senses." He then looked back a Beth. "What about you?"

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth gave an impressed nod as Mig began to make a rock float. Telekinetic, that was good. She could do some minor stuff with it, mostly small things that didn't weigh much. But, she never really utilized it in most of her day to day functions. Or in any real function, truthfully.

She loved some Force Lightning, though. She used the opposite side of it though - electric judgement. That was pretty cool that he could enhance his senses through the Force though. Beth had never tried to do something like that. In reality, she had to conserve a lot of her Force use for healing, at least in major situations.

"I'm best at Force Healing. But, I can do electric judgement pretty well. And persuasion." She chuckled a little bit, "When I was a kid, I actually used it a lot to survive. I didn't know it at the time but I had been unconsciously using it." So, well, she could beg for food and not have to steal it. And it worked, most of the time.

Mig smiled as Beth mentioned her abilities. He knew first hand how good Force Healing could be, considering his own sister helped fix his leg with the ability. She also noted using electric judgement. It wasn't something the alor had seen himself, but he knew the basics of what it was. And then there was force persuasion. He found her mention of it quite interesting, especially that it kept her alive. It must have been before she was adopted, but there was no way to know for sure.

"Dang. Sounds like you have a good start with Force training, and some interesting abilities." Mig then looked around, chuckling as a Skrill ran by, appearing to chase a child around. "So, where do you want to begin?"
