Searching for a Teacher

Beth gave a smile and a small nod. Yeah, she did in a way. Some of it she somehow taught herself. But, Gray helped her learn much of her Force. A good five years of him teaching her left her with a solid foundation, and with some knowledge of the abilities she had a knack for.

It was kind of ironic, in truth, that her two best abilities were polar opposites. One brought and saved life, the other took it in a fairly violent way. Sometimes it made Beth wonder if maybe she wasn’t as light sided as she felt she was – maybe she was just as dark but it was just hidden, somewhere deep inside her. Maybe she was just a monster too, somewhere, waiting to come out. The thought was terrifying.

She nearly shook her head but gave a small shrug. “I guess I have some good training with it. My Grandpa helped me a lot before he kind of became a hermit.” She glanced towards the child and the Skrill and also chuckled. “Adorable. I know you’ve been on missions with my mo- er, the Mand’alor. Have you met the kiddos?

Um, well, how do you enhance your senses? That’s something I’ve tried to do but it usually just… Burns out pretty quick for me.

Mig smiled, happy to know the Gred's weren't the only Mandalorians training in the Force. He then chuckled as she stumbled over words when mentioning Yasha, asking if he had met her kids. The man remembered back to the arena, a memory he really didn't like to look back at. After an uncomfortable moment he finally spoke up, remembering Adera. "Yeah. Got the chance to meet Adera. She's a pretty powerful one, that's for sure."

She then asked him about him about enhancing his senses with the Force. This took the alor a moment to think about this. "Well, it honestly come naturally to me, like your Force Persuasion, I can try to help you with it though."

Beth could tell there was something wrong when she asked if he had met her siblings. She sensed it, and the awkward, uncomfortable feeling that seemed to irradiate from the area for a moment. She immediately felt bad, bringing up a potential painful memory for the Alor of Gred. “I… Sorry.” She could only assume some things for the reason, unsure of what might’ve been the moment.

She gave a smile though, “Yeah, she is. Pretty powerfully cute, too.”

With that, it was back to the Force. “Oh, gotcha. Yeah, I’m not sure if I could really explain how to do it except it just… Happens?” She shrugged a little but took a breath as she tried to focus her energy into just… Feeling, pushing the Force to her limbs.

Except, she didn’t feel any different with elicited a frown. “Ugh.”

"Bic cuyir an jate (It is all good), Beth," Mig responded when heard the apology. There was no way she'd know about the arena, plus the experience wasn't all bad. He had gotten to meet the cute little adiik that was Adera. He then chuckled when she said the girl was "Powerfully cute." He smiled a bit, and nodded. "That she is."

The alor then watched as Bethany tried to enhance her senses with the Force. She was right. Things that came naturally were hard to help others train in, but he was definitely going to try. He could feel her moving the Force around her, trying to feel out and increase her own senses. Then she seemed to get frustrated. Mig looked at her, thinking for a moment. "Maybe try focusing on everything around you. Just close your eyes, and focus on enhancing one sense."

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth gave a small nod and looked away from [member="Mig Gred"]. She could tell he was serious, but Beth couldn't help but feel upset with herself for bringing up a potentially bad memory. She didn't want her trainer to think she was just full of awkward, bad situations that kept bringing unpleasant memories back, after all. But, he did agree with her powerfully cute comment which evoked a little smile on the young woman's lips. "And a little spoiled, but I guess that's alright." She chuckled quietly.

She gave a nod at his advice. Yeah, maybe she was going a little overboard. One sense at a time was probably more helpful. Maybe she could enhance her hearing! Oh... But what if she heard something, well, unpleasant? Like a cheating spouse or something. Or a kid getting into trouble. She shook her head as she mentally debated which sense might be the best sense. "I'll try smelling I guess?" She said, somewhat unsure. This was harder than she thought.

She took a breath as she focused in on the Force. She channeled - and she felt the Force work, in small waves, around her. She focused on her nose, although... Nothing quite changed. "Still nothing," she muttered after a few minutes of trying. "Maybe this just isn't my specialty?"

Mig nodded and chucked at Beth's comment about Adera. She wasn't wrong, which made it pretty funny. The little girl was sweet though, and with time could be just as powerful and smart as her parents. It was definitely an interesting thought, but Mig could also sense that Beth was upset over bring up those memories, though it seemed to pass quickly.

He then watched as she readied to try enhancing a single sense: smell. Odd choice, but ok. He could feel her moving the Force, trying to enhance her sense of smell. Sadly, she seemed to be having difficulty with it, and figured it wasn't her specialty. Mig looked at her, nodding slightly. "Maybe. I'd say keep trying every now and then though." He thought some more, then looked at her again. "How about we try looking at one of your less used abilities?"

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Indeed, smell was an odd choice for the young woman to choose. Beth wasn't quite sure why she chose smell either - especially realizing there was plenty of animals nearby that would likely not smell very well. She just didn't want to accidentally see or hear something that could put herself in some moral dilemma that she'd feel compelled to act upon. Sometimes, she just wanted normalcy.

In either case, she gave a nod. She could try again, when she was not near people. Maybe she could spy on her moms meetings or something with enhanced hearing. That might be pretty cool to do - but, then again, maybe not.

Another nod. "Um, probably some of my lesser used abilities is shields. I can crack a mean one up, but it is kind of weak. Usually breaks after a couple hits. I just don't think I can keep my concentration on it. Like, with healing, it's easy. It's almost like I'm knitting the body back together. Electric judgement? The adrenaline. I don't know." She shrugged a little.

"Here is the best I can do right now." She took a breath as she began to feel through the Force, a white-blue but transparent wall forming around her front - almost covering her full height but left a small gap at her ankles and feet. "I could probably take like... 4-5 bullets, maybe 10 kicks." She shrugged a little as she tried to stay concentrated on it.

@Mig Gred.

Mig watched curious when Beth mentioned she could create a Force Shield. He had heard about the ability, but had never actually seen it in use. It just wasn't very common among Greds. He watched as she formed a wall of energy in front of her, listening as she explained how she couldn't really create a strong shield, and how it was different from her healing and Electric Judgement. He listened carefully and watched with a impressed look as her explained how much her shield could take. It was honestly pretty interesting. He then looked at her, know how to help with concentration at least.

"Ok. With concentration, you need to be about to block other things out. Clear your mind, and focus on just the field in front of you. I still remember when my buir was teaching me Force Lightning, and had to tell me that over and aver again. Took me forever to get it down."

[member="Beth Cadera"]

The shield sparkled in front of her. The white-blue dazzling in the sunlight from the Mandalorian home-worlds star. Beth could never get over how beautiful the light was - not that she ever wanted to, honestly. It was moments when she could watch, see, and feel the Force that made her feel the most connected to it. Regrettably for her, this also meant her concentration faltered easily.

Mig seemed impressed, which gave Beth a huge grin. Sure, he was probably tremendously better at certain things, like the enhancement of his senses. But, at least Beth could make a sparkly karkin' shield out of thin air. The fact that it wasn't the strongest, whatever. Didn't matter at the exact moment.

Concentration. That was Mig's best advice, which she respected. Seemed like the Force was so innately tied to concentration that it was sometimes annoying. How was she supposed to concrate when she was getting fired at while healing a bullet wound? Impossible! But, she knew she could do it. She was able to do her other skills with ease, even with her mind focused.

"I'll eventually get it, I think." She gave him another smile.

Mig smiled along with Beth as he watched her hold the shield up. It was interesting to watch the field as it sparkled. He even walked up to touch the field, seeing how it would feel.

"I'm sure you will, Beth." He looked at her, eyeing the shield some more. "Mind if I test it," he asked with curiosity, clearly new to the Force ability. If she agreed, Mig would give the shield a quick punch, seeing how it reacted to the attack.

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth let her trainer inspect the shield. With each touch, light blue light flickered out around his skin. Beth simply let her exam it as she tried to hone her concentration on it. Really, it was an astounding ability. Cassiopeia even told her the time she had to use it to protect Yasha when she was giving birth to Adara.

Beth gave a nod, "Yeah, go for it. You can shoot about 2-3 bullets and maybe 10-15 high powered punches and kicks before it'll break. But, be careful if you do bullets, cause they ricochet. And you know, that you don't shoot me when it breaks." She gave a grin with a slight chuckle.

Beth nodded as Mig punched the shield. Light blue light, flickered in with white, sparkled around his hand before slowly dissipating, some even reaching the ground.

Mig chuckled a bit as he looked at the shield, eyeing his hand after the first punch. Beth explained again how much punishment the shield could take, which made Mig smile a bit. It was a really useful skill, so maybe he could help her push it a bit. The alor looked at Beth and nodded.

"So 10-15 punches and kicks. Ok, Beth, let's see if we can get that number up a bit for you." He then readied to punch again, but kept talking. "You need to focus on just the shield and what's immediately around you. What's coming at you. Just focus on that." Mig then began to deliver more punches and kicks, being careful no to hit Beth if the shield failed. Granted, he didn't actually show that he was being careful. Hopefully it would get her to strengthen the shield some.

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth simply perked a brow as he repeated how many kicks her shield could take - and then would up it. That... Was hopefully not going to be too hard for her. Sure, Beth could focus in on her shield. Maybe she could take 20 punches and kicks? Maybe 25? In truth, Beth had never actually pushed herself with it.

That was a realization she didn't really wish to tell [member="Mig Gred"], either. And so, she debated on how well she could focus.

Beth nodded as his recommendations. The recurring theme of any lesson with the Force, it seemed, was focus. For a hyperactive mind like Beth's, that was often easier said than done.

Punch. Kick. Punch. Kick. Beth focused her mind onto the shield, as the blue-white-and lightest shade of pink erupted from each hit, swirling around his foot or hand before either dissipating or falling to the ground.

Finally, on the 21st kick or punch, the shield failed - and with it came the kick or punch that Beth had been preparing herself for. Would he catch it in time? Or would her reaction speed be enough?

Mig counted up as he landed every punch and kick, soon reaching 21. After that punch Beth's shield finally broke, and Mig quickly pulled his next punch to avoid striking her. He panted a bit, looking a her with a smile.

"That shield of yours is pretty incredible." He was being honest. It was the first time he had gone against something like that. The Force wielding Mandalorian then chuckled a bit, thinking for a moment. "Well, with some more training I bet it could take a tank round."

[member="Beth Cadera"]

He pulled back - there would be no hard punch to her face, at least not yet. He panted, but Beth wiped her forehead with her forearm to remove sweat. That was quite a battle, at least in concentrating in on the Force. She took a few heavy breaths herself.

She, however, did beam at the compliment. "Thanks! It is kinda useful," she said with a chuckle as she decided to sit down, crossed leg, on the ground. That had drained her, likely due to all of the other training they had done. It had all added up.

"Ha! I'm not sure. Maybe it could take a couple more punches, maybe some extra kicks. But, we'll try it out in a few years."

Mig chuckled a bit as Beth sat down, deciding to take a seat next to her. He could tell she was exhausted, and gave her a kind look as she said she they could see if she could stop a tank's fire in a few years. He looked over, letting out a slightly tired huff, hear one of Talyn's Ackley screaming.

"You seem exhausted. May be a good idea to take a break for now."
