Finger coursed over the vinesilk, leather, and fur ensemble she wore, smoothing everything into place as the shuttle descended. For his part, Kainan stood stoically to the side near the ramp, clad in his formal grey uniform. It was an amusing conversation each time they readied themselves for such a function or outing, the teasing lighthearted between them. It was ever so, in private. The warmth and affection between them so rarely displayed where anyone else could see it.

That small, soft smile he timed perfectly for her gaze alone was enough to warm her as the shuttle touched down and the ramp finally began to descend. With a deep breath and answering smile of her own, they stepped foot upon the lush landscape. There was a deferential Bothan offering points of interest and explaining what amenities were available to them, and Ame took a half moment to lament the fact that she would never be able to get Kainan onto the dance floor. Well…there were ways, but she was loathe to make him so uncomfortable. There would come a day when she would manage it, however.

[SIZE=10.5pt]"Shall we, my dear?"[/SIZE]

“By all means.” She answered softly, her armed soon twined comfortably with his own. As they walked, she cast her dark gaze around the intimate setting and made note of those in attendance. Many were faces she had seen in various briefings since her ascent to the position of Viceroy, but some, such as [member="Fiolette Raaf"] and [member="Taeli Raaf"], she knew by sheer reputation alongside Kainan’s own knowledge of the pair.

They were soon approached by a young woman, brightly and quite elegantly garbed, who addressed Kainan by name. Amethyst smiled and politely inclined her head, waiting to be properly introduced to the woman she suspected was the sister Kainan had mentioned, but whom she had not yet had the pleasure of meeting.

    Bothawui, Confederacy of Independent Systems

Although maintaining a properly dignified and reserved demeanor, the warlord's feline eyes kept drifting in the direction of his beloved every now and then, stealing a glance when no one noticed. His beautiful companion was as lovely and elegant as ever, a breathtaking and exotic beauty that was sure to catch the eyes of many an onlooker as the pair made their way through the crowds of guests and servants at the ranch. It still amazed him how many secret thoughts they could share with something as simple as a smile.

This was the kind of world that he would like to visit with her more often, yet the opportunity rarely presented itself. The business of running a planet which fielded the single largest and most powerful naval unit within the Confederacy, took its toll. There had been battles to fight, military drills to conduct and state business to attend to and Tacitus did not get to spend as much time simply relaxing with her, as he would have liked.

The warlord would have liked nothing more than to find a quiet spot and spend the rest of the day relaxing, drinking wine and exchanging idle chatter with Amethyst, but that would have to wait until later, when time afforded them this luxury. For now, there was work to be done. Despite appearances, this was not a casual social gathering and the two Nelvaanian rulers were here on a work visit.

The event was bound to attract some of the most powerful individuals in the galaxy and it did not fail to meet Tacitus' expectations. His sharp eyes quickly picked out the most influential corporate and state officials out of the crowd and although the first floor had its fair share of important people, the real business would be discussed on the second floor, where the top dogs were gathering for a private game of Sabacc with their host.

His thoughts were quickly interrupted by the arrival of someone he had only recently been reunited with, causing a confusing mixture of emotions to stir within his mind. It still felt strange to him, having a family. It was a concept he never really had the chance to learn and given the history he shared with his brother, the two were not exactly close. Yet he could not help but feel protective about a younger sister whom he had only met once. His eyes seemed to light up ever so subtly as she approached and he greeted her with a polite nod of the head. "Greetings, Faye. Likewise, it is a pleasure to meet you here" he responded to her, about as warmly as he ever deemed to do so in public, without breaching the complex and strict etiquette that had come to define Nelvaanian society so much.

Hand extending to place a gentle touch on the back of his lover, the warlord made the introductions. "Faye, this is Amethyst Atreides. Vicereine of Nelvaan and someone very dear to me," he spoke. "Amethyst, meet Francesca Malvern, my younger sister."

"Shall we proceed upstairs? I'm looking forward to getting the day's business over and done with, so we could find some time to enjoy a bottle of wine," the Sith Lord said, leading the two ladies into the venue. Upstairs, he found several of the faces which he had recognized as important out on the landing pad. He was familiar with every one of their names and some he had met in person, although not under the best of circumstances.

Fiolette Raaf he knew by reputation. An accomplished military officer and businesswoman, with a distinguished naval career in service of the First Order and now, the Sith Empire as well. She was one of the few naval commanders in the galaxy whom he considered a peer and knew she would prove a very dangerous opponent if they ever found themselves on the opposite sides in a war. She was also the owner of one of the galaxy's biggest and most respected shipbuilding corporations, someone whom everyone in the industry wanted as a business partner. Her spouse, Taeli, was someone he had encountered twice before, the first time during the Second Battle of Nibelungen and then during the Fall of the Galactic Alliance, earning his respect for her prowess at wielding the Darkside of the Force.

He paid the buy-in fees for himself and his companions, then proceeded to hand his heavy cloak to one of the servants and take his seat at the table. "Forgive our tardiness," he said to the assembled group. "We had to inquire to the staff about unloading some items that I would like to offer you as gifts, after we finish our game," he explained, referring to the Karavin Concern samples he had brought with him.

"Greetings, Lady Temi. What a wonderful gathering you have brought here," he said, greeting their host. "I must say, you have outdone yourself."

Nodding to the Raaf couple, he proceeded to engage in polite smalltalk as the dealer handed him his cards. "Congratulations for your marriage," he said, his tone cordial and formal. "I believe I have not had the pleasure of meeting you, Admiral. I am Tacitus, Fleet Marshall of Sword Armada and Emperor of Nelvaan. My companions are Amethyst Atreides, Vicereine of Nelvaan and Francesca Malvern, my sister."

His attention then shifted to the other Raaf, to whom he gave the kind of respectful nod only warriors who crossed blades, would. The Reaper of Lorrd greeted the Reaper of Coruscant. "Triumvir, it is a pleasure to finally meet in less bellicose circumstances. I never got the chance to offer you my appreciation for your strategy against the Galactic Alliance. That was very well done."

"And of course, Prince Ike of Atrisia, we have never had the chance to meet, although I have served with one of the former lords of your homeworld," he said, referring to Mythos, self-proclaimed God-King of the Empire of the Ancient Eye, whom Tacitus had served as second in command.

He greeted the other guests with a curt nod. He was not very familiar with Zai Avery and the New Republic was, as far as he was concerned, insufficiently important to award its representative the same attention Tacitus had given to the other attendees.

Directly playing a sabacc round: [member="KeCholo"] [member="Shoma Ike"] [member="Zai Avery"] @Darth Tactitus

Once she’d had more than enough Smuggler’s Red, the urge to produce a winning hand would trump all else for Tmoxin, however she was not necessarily at the table this very moment for the art of the game but the art of the deal.

While her cards were playable, she lay them face down upon the felted table and said, “I will also fold.”

Besides, this way with her head not in the game, the redhead Hapan could greet others that entered the room. “I feel as though we’ve met before,” she remarked to Fiolette, knowing full well who the woman was. Tmoxin made it a habit to keep tabs on all of the notable female figures in the galaxy and Admiral Raaf had an impressive enough record that she’d taken notice of the officer’s career.

The Bothan servant scuttled to and fro, huffing with a fastidious mumble, serving the newly arriving guests to the second floor. “Why yes it has, Ms. Raaf.” Again, Tmoxin’s memory failed her on when or where she’d met Taeli. She only hoped it was not as a foe and had to assume it was given the woman’s benevolent smile.

She watched [member="KeCholo"] bet and then turned to [member="Ella Nova"], the woman’s beauty as stunning as ever. “Great minds think alike,” Tmoxin quipped noting that Ms. Nova also folded her hand.

[member="Amethyst Atreides"] and [member="Darth Tacitus"] slid into the room just in time to make it into this round of betting. “Pull up some chairs. We are all friends here.”

Like her Blood Monarch moniker - one of which she went by as an officer in the One Sith Army - the Hapan sat in her chair regally as though she were Ta'a Chume herself. For now she just presided quietly over the gathering, watching the game and the guests with interest.

OOC: I tried to figure out who was playing and who wasn't but let me know if I need to re-tag those playing in this round.

A lady asked his name, but before the Atrisian teen could answer a newcomer to the table addressed him and it seemed to render the question moot.

One of the former lords of his homeworld..? Kahoshi or Mythos seemed the most likely candidates for whom the man might be referring. Either of which would be interesting. "Some time when we're not playing cards, I'd like to buy you a drink to hear about that time," the youth offered, with a tip of his head to demonstrate a measure of respect toward the stranger.

Glancing back over to the woman who had asked his name, the boy returned to the question she'd asked. "In formal situations, he would be correct," the youth stated, referring back to how he had been addressed as Prince Ike of Atrisia. "Though, I prefer that people just call me Shoma."

As for the cards in his hand, that was a wash. He had a two of staves and a four of cups. Discarding those as the round ended, the boy returned his attention to the lady who had asked his name. "And yourself, madam?"

Faye smiled, a sweet smile that spoke a million words about how pleased she was to be reunited with him. The smile held all the warmth a younger sister could muster. They had had little time to get to know each other but the bond shared between Malvern siblings was unbreakable, even when they were a million miles apart. 'Amethyst, what a beautiful name. It's a pleasure.' Faye hadn't expected him to have a significant other, he didn't seem the like the romantic type. She was eager to get to know the woman who he was so clearly besotted with. Perhaps she would be Faye's window into the mysterious man she now knew as her elder brother.

The trio walked through the double doors and into the ranch, to be met with a fair few people all gathered round a table playing cards. Kainan seemed to know everyone, or at least have some idea of who they all were. She was more grateful than she could say that she had bumped into him before walking inside. 'Lady Temi. I'm Francesca Malvern.' Faye offered their host an appreciative smile. 'You have a lovely home. Thank you for your gracious invitation. I'm here on behalf of the Minister of Influence.' Faye inclined her head to the rest of the gathering in turn as her brother spoke. She had little else to say after that, so instead she decided to stand back and watch the game. Faye had always picked things up quickly, maybe the next round she would give it a try.

"Alright darling, water it is," she replied with a smile. Fiolette gave Taeli a kiss on the cheek as well, just as their host Ms. Temi had mentioned that she knew of Fiolette and of course the former grand admiral was sure it had been from her time with the First Order. It was as she had gone down to get water for her beloved that when she came back to the second floor. When Admiral Tacitus approached her and congratulated her on her recent nuptials. Quietly she handed Taeli the glass of water, "a pleasure to meet you Admiral, always nice to meet a fellow naval commander. Vicerine, and Ms. Malvern." A polite nod to them both as Tactius addressed her wife, "and thank you."

She hadn't realized the news of their marriage had reached this far out into the galaxy. Still, she smirked a little when he did congratulate them, "well I am sitting out on this round of sabaac. Darling, I'll leave you to it." Fiolette gave Taeli another kiss before excusing herself away from the table, "perhaps you and I can speak more in private Admiral, Vicerine, Ms. Malvern?" She asked them offering to speak to either one or all of them in private, Fiolette of course was more interested in speaking with this Admiral Tacitus she had heard of him and his exploits mostly at a distance. Work with the First Order took priority at the time and pulled her away from reviewing anything other than Galactic Alliance tactics and manuals in the pursuit of victory.
