Silver Blades [SJO]

Garith was late. That was ok he thought as he quietly came in and sat in the back of the class. He was just sitting in the class. He knew he should get out more and that is why he was here.

He smiled watching the students. Saber combat training. Lightsaber forms were not his specialty. He did however enjoy watching students broaden their minds. There was discipline in lightsaber combat. There was more than just the combat aspect of it. There was grace and beauty to be found there.

Kyoko was watching her and Asaraa was good to pick up on and feel her instincts about the discs. The sabers were ghost sabers, invisible and mostly completely silent compared to other blades. Made it a danger if you dind't know how to handle it. her eyes were watching the shien style and Asaraa's movement as the blade she had practiced to control mentally instead of needing to extend her hands to control the discs. She still needed to move when Asaraa was coming after her with her foot kicking a force pulse to send her to the side with a roll when she brought the blades back around. Dodging and letting the swarm of her blades spin around in a spinning whirl of usually death or destruction. Instead it was to try and strike her in a number of different areas from the back and front.

Sukai was now feeling a little awkward about the whole saying sorry thing, from the way Charlie reacted at the time and how, sensitive she seemed to be the young Jin was sure she would remember. "You don't remember, at Roche when... never mind, since you do not recollect I assume you have forgiven me, but if I can repay you in any shape or form I am always free, and besides making new friends among the order is a plus wouldn't you say". Which was kind of a downer since despite her time in the Jedi Sukai actually had very little friends, son acquaintances here and there but no actual friends, quite contrasting to her brother who had already gotten a girlfriend.

She was suddenly t brought back to the conversion at Charlie's seemingly teenager like response, "well I was wondering if you would like to have a practice spar with me considering most people have fallen into groups". Kyoko and Asaraa already underway, the new armored woman talking with Aubrey while mother approached Josh. "That is unless you had plans already, I would not want to cause any inconvenience to you, and if you are worried about skill difference you do not need to be, I have yet to practice the form V, so I am just as much a beginner as anyone else here". Though Sukai was unsure of Charlie's skill level, having not seen Jyoti's Padawan in battle yet.

Narcissa was scanning her eyes across the room again, letting out a small sigh as she looked at the people who had gathered. She supposed that just about anyone would do. Propping her body up and moving her arms to rest at her sides as she spoke. "If anyone is wanting to spar, I will gladly engage in one. I would only ask you use only force speed and strength in the fight. To me your force imbued speed and strength should be considered always available."

"Also, please feel free to dictate the pace. We could take it easy, or we could act like it's the fight of our lives. Please tell me your preference." Narcissa remarked, flipped her hair over her shoulder as she focused her gaze on [member="Garith Organa"] in particular. He seemed to be one of the more experienced individuals, this could be fun.

Aubrey's saber wagging ended as she was addressed. She turned to find herself face to face with a hulking figure in plate armor. The Kiribian suddenly felt underdressed in her combat fatigues.

"I suppose it does," she agreed with a nod. "Though it's worth it. I've seen Jedi do some amazing things with lightsabers. I thought it was about high time that I tried my hand with one."

In contrast to the other woman's muddled Basic, Aubrey spoke with a crisp Coruscanti accent which was the norm of all those who grew up in the upper class within the Core. Her accent was beautiful, though, the armored woman's trilling reminding her of a chirping bird.

"I'm Aubrey, by the way," she said, offering a hand as she turned the tip of the blade downward. "Ah, I kind of got lost playing with this training saber so I didn't pick up a sparring partner. Would you be okay sparring with me? I'll probably be awful.

She paused, thinking about her last statement. "No, I definitely will be."

"Not a Jedi?" she asked, reaching for her own lightsaber's lengthy hilt. The blade itself, when she ignited it, had a length to justify the hilt, as she wanted the most reach with her weapon as was possible. "I call myself Toreka. I am a Jedi- and a Jedi teaches others."

She would never pass up the opportunity to teach another what she had been taught herself, believing that everyone had the right to learn should they want it. And it wasn't often that another would be willing to spar with her on their own accord.

It was almost like the...no scratch that, it was almost exactly like the old training remotes that they had to train with back at the academy when she was younger. An almost feral grin split the girl's face as she hopped backwards a step and closed her eyes. She didn't think she just let her blade and body react, the silver beam of energy meeting the invisible energy in a shower of sparks as Asaraa span he saber in front and behind her, her lithe body twisting and flowing like water as she avoided the strikes. "Really, you're coming at me with tactics even the youngest apprentice knows?" she taunted playfully, the smile on her lips taking hte sting out of her words.

Kyoko watched her and was moving with the padawan. Using her smaller form to get around the small area they had as she kept her focus on the discs recalling them to her hands for a moment when she got close. "Hmmm maybe I like learning what skills you have." The smile was on her face though when she rolled flinging one blade low and across the floor to a stop but the other went high to spin around her more like a saber shield when she was moving in close. "And never doubt the basics, it is the stronger foundation upon which styles and form are built. Ignoring thm for just one without understanding will cause you to lose every time." She was watching her so they could move around when she was standing there. "Now lets see how cute you look laying on your back." She winked but had her saber disc on the ground for a surprise, her other blade flinging outwards to slice and go for her wrist.

[SIZE=10pt]Charlie raised an eyebrow as Sky’ito continued about this thing that happened on Roche. That battle there had been so much going on that Charlie only remembered her parting with her Master and the fight that occurred with the Sith that were there. They were victorious so that was all she needed to remember. Something so minor of Sukai doing something to her didn’t matter. There was no forgiveness, only a forgotten memory. “I don’t need anything from you, please stop offering your services like an old holonet popup.” Charlie sighed, she didn’t understand the persistence, but she hoped it would end after she asked for it to stop. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Doing service deeds wasn’t the way to make friends, it was something that Charlie had figured out early on when she joined the Order. She was friends with people like Asaraa because they got along, even Faye who dragged her around a mall. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=10pt]Frowning, the girl who was in awe of her saber seemed to have been picked up which left Sukai being the only one besides Charlie to not have a partner. A smile and the lightsaber she had in her hand was raised then ignited. “I’m not worried about a difference in skill. I’m confident in my ability to fight. Looks like we’re partners then.” The blade held by two hands, Charlie adjusted her footing, one foot slightly in front of the other as she waited for the other girl to either attack or guard. She was a little taken back by [member="Charlie"] dismissive and slightly offensive reply to her offer of help, she was only trying to be nice, did that mean the young girl still did not take kindly to her? It was hard to know. "Uh... as you wish" she replied is an awkward tone, 'not to self-do not offer help to Charlie again unless asked directly... though I am not sure if we will interact with one another very often'. She really needed to get better at social stuff, but nothing Sukai did ever seemed to work, perhaps brother would have an idea about it... no that would not work, he was way to erratic.

She continued to stand their awaiting the smaller girl’s response, a little surprised but genuinely glad to see her accept, well partial, from her tone of voice seemed like a 'we don't have any other choice situation', "Well then I look forward to seeing you fight". Grasping her father’s lightsaber Sukai took a stance opposite of Charlie, activating the ting flat blue blade, holding the hilt pointing straight up in a typical Samurai stance, left foot in front of the other, standing there for a few seconds.“Hajime”! The quick shout would escape Sukai’s lips as she suddenly advanced, pushing off with her right food, beginning the duel with a thrust to Charlies side, almost deliberately aiming to miss, before pulling the blade to the side in a swinging motion aimed at centre mass.

The pink-haired padawan kept her eyes closed, not trusting herself to open her eyes, she knew how easy it was to get overwhelmed by the sight of the blades spinning through the air and miss out on the correct block. At least with her eyes closed she was truly reliant on, the one set of senses that wouldn't be distracted by what she could see or what she couldn't. The young woman twisted her blade around in the air, settling herself resolutely, feet shoulder length apart as she gestured to [member="Kyoko Ike"]. "That's a lot of talk but that's all it is. You think you can knock me down? Come and try me then." There was a bravado to her words but her opponent had been right, the basics were important and as long as she stayed mindful of them she should be ok...right?"

She looked at her and gave a small look as she spoke. "As you wish." Kyoko was moving and she grabbed the one blade out of the air with a look on her face when the other was still spinning and she moved to try and get in close. A wink from her eye and she stopped trying to be next to her within that ring of defense for the close body. She moved quickly for a hip attack to knock at her and slashed to try and move her saber aside while she spun the blade able to rotate it from front to back in normal and reverse shien grips with a single handed stance. She was pressing it and there was a grin on her face. She was having fun, she was enjoying this and she had to admit... Asaraa was talented.... her awareness of the others around them was narrowed to just her. She was uncertain about the others in the room and what they had going on. her voice rang out though. "SUPER AWESOME SEXY ATRISIAN FLYING BUTT ATTACK....................................IN 3D"

Gar’ith did notice [member="Narcissa Tallhart"]. He also noticed she did not have a sparring partner. The Alderaani Prince had a huge heart. He had on many occasions found him in trouble over it. How often in the past had he physical put his own body in harms ways to defend innocents?

He did not have the desire to traditionally train anyone. He did not sought out combat in the first place. He was hesitant in meeting this challenge. He just simply did not have an ego. What he did have though, it was heart. He felt sympathy. He knew what it felt like to feel alone.

At the moment he was imagining how it must feel lonely up there not having a sparring partner.

Gar’ith started to stand up out of his chair while taking off his suit jacket. Upon starting to walk over to Narcissa he began to unbutton and roll up his sleeves.

“My name is, Gar’ith”, with a gentle smile reach his hand out to shake Narcissa’s hand. He mentioned nothing of rank or titles. All he did so far was offer friendship. It was not as if he was hiding any information. He was being friendly. If he was hiding who he was he could have simply took of the signet ring on his hand.

The lesson appeared to be going well so far. It appeared that mostly everyone had found partners, and he had promised to fill the gap himself if necessary. Not to mention he could always ask Jyoti to come in early should there be a second gap, but considering the numbers, that likely wasn't going to necessary unless anymore late-comers came in.

He had been approached by [member="Kurenai Yumi"] who had gone after him instead of Narcissa, while Narcissa had instead gone for Organa, who did not appear to be duelling.

"I don't know, I hear Charlie is more fierce than she looks. The Tiny Terror Of Your Nightmares, I hear them call her. She may be a greater challenge" He joked softly with a light smile. She was showing a bit too much of an ego, though he didn't call it out directly, instead making his jokes. "Well, my job is to observe and mediate... I'm only to spar if someone doesn't have a partner" He would admit as he would wrap an arm around Kurenai's shoulders - or attempt to before realizing that at 6'4 that'd be a horrible idea so he wrapped the arm halfway around her waist instead - jokingly pulling her close to his frame as he would motion for them to walk as they would wander what had become a makeshift battlefield of sorts, especially with [member="Kyoko Ike"] and [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] going at it. The "butt attack" scream caught his attention, though, and he would hold out a hand then as a fireball would suddenly be charged between his fingers. He would fire it at the floor between the two, an explosion of fire that would separate them stopping the battle momentarily.

"Focus!" He would growl all of a sudden toward Ike as his demeanor completely changed in that moment. He was in that moment the strict teacher that he needed to be with his Padawans at times when necessary. "You're growing overconfident and not taking the battle seriously. Focus on making the most of Form V before we move on."

He held up a hand then. "Proceed" He spoke calmly as he would nod toward Kurenai again and make his way toward Narcissa and Organa.

"Garith, are you participating?" He would ask [member="Garith Organa"] in turn as his entire attitude changed back to it's calm, serene demeanor as if nothing had happened. He would smile softly toward [member="Narcissa Tallhart"] as he would motion toward Kurenai. "Miss Kurenai does not have a sparring partner, so I just wanted to be sure if you were still looking. You two are already familiar with one another, I feel a sparring match may be an aid to getting to better know one another. But I can't force you" He spoke gently. "Unless of course you're intending to spar with Sir Organa. Then I'll simply have to spar with the young lady myself to make up the numbers."

Growing up surrounded by the old ways of the Jedi, left you with nothing to do but study and train. The K’paur had been thrust into an environment where she needed to adjust and adapt even with her memory loss. The Masters were harsh, but in the end meant well. She could remember the buckets of water she held, to strengthen her stance, keeping it balanced as she walked forward without spilling a drop of water. Sparring, training and studying was the girl’s life from her early age and even now. The need to improve and to continue learning was something her Master nurtured in the young padawan.

Sukai, was a Knight. This meant she was trained and skilled enough to pass from padawanship to Knighthood. That came with more responsibilities and even the possibility of a student. Charlie would need to take this spar as serious as a real fight. She didn’t want to make a fool of herself or her Master.

The Knight charged and remembering her studies of Form V, Charlie gripped the blade tightly with both of her hands. Strength and aggression was with this form, it was both defensive allowing a Jedi to continue to fight for days on end (form III), but also had the strength to be overwhelmingly powerful. The way of the Krayt Dragon, Charlie held the blade above her head at the same moment Sukai charged. The move was heavily telegraphed, why would she aim to miss, something like that didn’t make sense. Instead, Charlie waited for the moment the girl decided to strike. The blue blade came at her and with the strength of her own blade driving downward, Charlie blocked the initial attack. The clashing of lightsabers echoed as she heard an odd shout. There was no time for her to react or even glance up to find who said it.

Her mind was focused on the spar. As the electrical charges of the lightsabers clashed against each other, Charlie leaned forward pushing her weight against the blades and at that same moment her front foot lifted slightly and moved to sweep Sukai at the back of her knee. If she could get Sukai off balance she could move forward with the offensive form of Form V.

TL;DR:
  • Blocked attack with an overhead slash.
  • Put weight on the clashing blades and moved to sweep Sukai at the knee.

Kyoko paused looking at the fire bal and spoke looking towards Asaraa as she turned around. "I guess we really are a hot pairing now." SHe was lame.... she was bad.... she felt bad. Kind of... not really but looking at the others offered a grin that only got wider as she turned towards Asaraa with a gleam in her eyes. "Well alright, lets be serious okay... we'll like use the techniques of shien." She said it and pulled her disc to her hand holding it when she prepared but looked around. "So ah Asaraa you have any blasters to you know practice the principles of it for blaster deflection and countering? Or are we using the saber aspect of it for countering?" She was curious though but stood there hlding the saber discs in her hand making them into a reverse grip when she crouched down. Her mind watching and letting the sabers activate silently except for the small vibration in her hands. "I am ready for round two."

She smiled. It looked like she had lucked out with a good partner. She definitely needed one as she was handling a saber for the first time in her life.

"Then please, teach me."

She took a small bow of respect to her sparring partner, then took a few steps backward to create some distance between them. Now gripping the hilt with two hands, she raised it above her head in a high guard with the saber pointed vertically upward.

While clueless in the ways of the Jedi's chief weapon, she definitely wasn't clueless about the martial arts in general. She would see if she could apply some of her experience here.

Now in fighting mode, she focused in on Toreka, looking to read to read her movements and mind to anticipate an attack. Her concentration was momentarily broken by...inappropriate cries from one of the other Jedi present, but she quickly regained her bearing as Mister Dragonsflame started to chew into them.

Taking one guided step forward, Toreka quickly swiped diagonally into Aubrey's right side, testing her reflexes first and foremost. If she wasn't quick enough, the lightsaber would merely come to a halt before it reached the girl's body, however much she may have enjoyed the scent of singed flesh.

[member="Aubrey King"] truly did appear to be quite the clean creature, taking good care of herself and her appearance. She had learned that smoothness of skin was favorable for humans in their mating unless the person would prefer rugged instead. Toreka was never planning on laying eggs of her own, but if she had been, then the smoothness of skin would only be of concern to her if she was biting into them with her fangs. For that, she would prefer the rougher and harder flesh. It wasn't as enjoyable biting into something so easily torn.

Sukai saw the raise blade as she made her approach, a high guard was always useful for intercepting attack using gravity and strong attacks to intercept attacks and bat them away from their body and come in for a counter attack. At the same time though it was rather predicated and rather easy to counter if one had experience in sword fighting, something that Sukai was well versed, regardless of the saber form used due to the Jin focus one versatility then perfection of one style. Unfortunately the rules where kind of in place for each person to solely use form V, meaning things would be a little more difficult then usual, and that was just fine, always nice to experience a new challenge.

As the blades clashed Sukai suddenly allowed her grip to lessen, in attempts to make @Charlies weight on the blade a literal down fall, stepping to the side a little to give the blade room to swing while continuing to close the distance. As the smol girls leg came up for the leg sweep Sukai lifted her right one up, aiming to drive a heavy knee into the Padawans chest and avoid being tripped over. It was a move more akin to Ataru, but once again form V was about seeing openings and attacking, and this looked like a good enough opening to Sukai.

The K’paur figured this was going to happen. She had avoided putting her entire weight on the blade, it would have been a novice move to fully assume she could over power Sukai with just one blow. The woman adjusted and moved to the side to avoid the sweep, then brought her knee towards Charlie’s chest. She had felt the weight of the other woman’s blade lighten, so she pulled back and stepped back with the momentum of her foot moving.

Charlie followed in suit, crossing her feet over to adjust and avoid the knee. Instead of moving directly to the side, she stepped forward into Sukai. The knee moved and Charlie used a palm to push against it on the inside of the girl’s knee. Ideally, Charlie wanted to jab the hard end of the lightsaber hilt into the girl’s knee cap, but this was training and she didn’t want to hear Master Dragonsflame yell at her and in turn tell her Master. As she used her palm to push aside the Knight’s knee, Charlie moved to punch Sukai with the now deactivated lightsaber to mimic a killing blow. The sabers were set to stun, but it would be weird feeling the blade stop against the girl’s stomach.

The smaller girl remained ready for a counter, her weight remaining distributed and feet planted.
