STRENGTHS
- Standard Fighter: Armament and defense wise, the SI-TIE Fighter is nothing special. Its weapons are of standard make and design, but unlike previous historical TIE fighters it does possess adequate shielding allowing it to take a few more punches than its various predecessors.
- Enhanced Features: What is special about the SI-TIE is that it contains more advanced sensor, targeting, and communication systems than might be expected for a mass produced swarm fighter. This allows Imperial pilots to better coordinate and take down enemy fighters.
- No Hyperdrive: Like the other TIE designs, the SI-TIE lacks a hyperdrive and must be launched from another ship.
- Carrier Dependent: Similar to its drawback of having no hyperdrive, the SI-TIE also cannot land like a normal fighter as it possesses no landing gear. It must instead be launched, docked, and stored on specially designed racks inside of Star Destroyers or other carrier vessels.
The brain-child of the new generation of Imperial technicians and military strategists of the New Sith Empire, the Sith-Imperial TIE Fighter is a modern, easily mass-produced, starfighter engineered to replace the Fury-class Starfighter of the Sith Ascendancy. Hearkening back to the glory days of Palpatine's Empire, the TIE possesses many similar traits of those ancient starfighters and of those who impeccably mimicked the original TIE Fighter's design down to every last detail.
However, what set this new starfighter apart is the slight modification to its solar panels. Instead of the traditional hexagonal wing design, the Sith-Imperial TIE features an octagonal design that allows the starfighter a marginally greater solar power input.
The fighter was equipped with a pair of fire-linked laser cannons that could fire separately or simultaneously fired for a more powerful burst damage output. It also could fire proton torpedoes at locked and unlocked targets, although the Empire prioritizes that pilots achieve a solid lock-on before firing the missile.
Like previous TIE designs, the ship had no hyperdrive and could only be launched from carrier warships. It did, however, possess adequate shielding, life support, and other advanced systems that made the Sith-Imperial TIE a more resilient and versatile vessel than previous incarnations.
