Valery held her hands close to the flame she had conjured, letting its warmth push back the relentless cold that gnawed at their bodies. The flickering light cast long shadows over Everest and Reina, their expressions both weary and lost in thought. She had seen it before — the way battle changed a person, how it etched something permanent into the soul.

Everest's soft, breathy murmur barely reached her ears.

"Daddy."

Valery's fiery gaze lifted from the flames, settling on the young Echani with quiet understanding. A fresh wound had formed in her heart, one she might not even fully comprehend yet, but it was there. Everest wiped her face quickly, as if she could erase the moment, but Valery wasn't fooled. She had felt the weight of grief before — had drowned in it and clawed her way out more times than she could count.

Before she could say anything, Reina spoke up, her blunt words cutting through the moment like a cold wind.

"...He's not here. Why would you need him? You have people here, now, who can help you."

Valery's gaze flickered toward Reina, and for a moment, she saw past the words to the deeper truth beneath them. Reina wasn't being cruel — she simply didn't understand what it meant to have a father to turn to for warmth, for safety.

A gentle smile touched Valery's lips as she reached out, lightly brushing Everest's shoulder. "It's okay," she murmured, offering quiet reassurance. "You're allowed to miss him." She squeezed lightly before pulling her hand away, her warmth now a steady presence rather than an overwhelming force. "And Reina is right about one thing — you're not alone."

Her gaze flicked toward the girl with the harpoon, her expression kind but measured. "But some problems can't be fixed with a weapon, laser or not."

A sharp gust of wind cut through the street, carrying something else with it — a presence. No, multiple. Valery's senses flared, locking onto the familiar, unmistakable thread of her son through the Force. Aris. And—

Her heart clenched.

Aadihr.

Her head snapped toward the distant figures just as a familiar voice rang out through the storm.

In the distance, through the thick haze of frost and battle, two figures emerged. Aris, glowing like a beacon, his body radiating intense heat as he cut through the encroaching darkness. His staff had shifted into a blade, firelight reflecting off its surface as the spawn turned toward him, drawn to his warmth. He was leading them away, keeping them distracted, doing exactly what she had trained him to do.

He was safe.

Relief surged through her, so overwhelming that it took all her restraint not to rush toward him and pull him into her arms. But now wasn't the time.

Instead, her gaze shifted to Aadihr — and her breath caught in her throat.

He was struggling. His steps were uneven. His movements sluggish. And then, just as he tried to speak again, his legs buckled, and he collapsed.

No.

Valery surged forward without hesitation, her instincts overriding everything else. She dropped to one knee beside him, her hands moving instantly to his chest. Even through the thick fur of his robes, she could feel the warmth of his blood seeping out into the cold. The wound beneath was deep, dangerously close to vital organs, and already freezing at the edges.

"Aadihr—stay with me," she ordered, pressing a firm hand against the wound, sending a pulse of the Force into him to slow the bleeding.

Her fiery gaze snapped to Everest and Reina. "Help me," she said quickly, her voice steady but urgent. "We need to stop the bleeding and get him to shelter. Now."

Reina's words cut into her as a harsh reminder, colder than the wind itself, haunted her.

She's right. He's not here, and he never will be...

Everest clutched at her knees silently, no longer able to muster the confidence to meet the girl's eyes.

But Master Noble's words were kind - as they so often were to her - and the touch on her shoulder had given her a warmth that surpassed that of the flame they were so closely gathered around. She was grateful for her. Reina, too, was perhaps offering comfort in her own way, even if Eve was unable to properly comprehend it in that moment, in that tiny pocket of safety within the wretched, dark storm that whirled around them. She closed her eyes, and breathed.

There is no emotion, there is peace.

But the temporary stillness was broken when a Knight of the Order emerged from the darkness. He was... not okay. Eve's eyes widened, honing in on his wounds as he collapsed. There was so much blood. Master Noble had already rushed to help him, as Everest's mind struggled to catch up with what was happening in real-time before her. Then the Grandmaster's voice cut through the cold in a way that pulled her from her panic. But what could she do? She had no training in healing, little understanding of wounds, nothing on her person but Master Noble's lightsaber—

That was it.

Reaching for the saber hanging at her waist, she stepped closer to the bloody Knight as Master Noble pressed down on the brutal wound.
"M-Master, we n-need to c-ca-caut—" The intense cold, fused with the shear panic that had taken a relentless hold on her, stopped her from finishing. Instead she resolved to simply ignite the purple blade to communicate her thoughts. Its brilliant and fierce light jittered in the dark as Eve struggled to stop her shaking. She looked at the intense light, and then to the unconscious Knight, blood erupting uncontrollably between Master Noble's fingers, and let out a helpless whimper. "I— I c-can't."

Reina didn't fully understand what Valery meant about the laser sword. Nearly all problems could be solved through weapons right? You're hungry? Kill something to eat it. You're poor? Kill something to sell it. Someone wants to steal your fishing grounds? Scare them away with your weapons. This was confusing. People were confusing. The sea was always far more easier to understand. She shook her head however and went to follow the pair back into the darkness...Up until she saw someone glowing in the darkness. Her eyes darted towards Valery and Everest...The fact that neither of them seemed to be reacting in an defensive manner seemed to tell Reina at least that Aris Noble Aris Noble wasn't hostile.

Though then she felt a...strange feeling of familiarity. Her eyes falling upon the blindfolded man as she frowned to herself. The old man she had helped on Keshi had said that they were helped by some blind Jedi...Was that him? She wasn't sure. Though as soon as Aadihr Lidos Aadihr Lidos started to fall, Reina was already running. She didn't need to be told twice. This wasn't her first time seeing someone bleeding like this. There had been plenty of accidents out fishing. Waves causing harpoon throws to go wrong, crates shifting from the movements of the ship. Normally she'd stand and watch the old crew's doctor, Hacksaw work on fixing people, until she'd eventually be told to go and get back to work. At least now that meant she wasn't going to freeze or hesitate at the sight of blood.

It was right about now that she was grateful that the injury she had taken from the monsters wasn't as severe. It still hurt, and she was still bleeding but it wasn't anything she was overly concerned with as she knelt beside Aadihr and tried to figure out what to do. A sterile environment would have been best...but she didn't have anything that would help with making the wound clean. She could pour her water on it but in this cold, that wasn't the best of ideas.

Valery Noble Valery Noble was doing something to at least help stop the wound from getting worse but they needed to stop the bleeding. Everest Vale Everest Vale seemed to hesitate with the laser blade. Shaking like mad. That was how accidents would happen. How things could get potentially worse, so Reina just put her hand out towards Everest for the lightsaber.

"Give me it."

It was to the point. Quick. Blunt. And as soon as Everest handed the laser over, Reina prepared to cauterise the wound. Her hands were steady. It was like back on the ship. Reina knew this was going to hurt. She'd experienced it herself. Not with a laser sword, mind you. But still. Her eyes darted up towards Valery, making sure that the older woman was approving of the choice.

Turned out they couldn't cut him.

Aris stood calm some distance now away from Aadihr, his body steaming as snow evaporated on contact with his skin. Aadihr wasn't built the same. He could see the injuries wearing on his master. The logical thing to do was to lure the witchspawn towards him and handle them. The others would protect Aadihr, so, he'd keep them safe.

He danced, almost. Their claws couldn't cut him, the ice melted on contact, so he just danced through them. Lured them towards him with the sheer heat he gave off before cutting each and every one of them down. He didn't tire, he didn't slow. He kept the others safe through fighting, as he always did.

"Aadihr—stay with me." Master Luka said. Aadihr quickened his pace. The temple of Naboo was much bigger than the one on Alpheridies, Aadihr could barely believe how big everything was? How could they see with so many people around to block the view?

"Yes, Master Luka!"
"It's Master Felcado, and you don't need to respond every time I tell you to do something, just do it."

Aadihr nodded and walked alongside the master he was finally assigned, adjusting the special blindfold his sister gave him.

"Do you know why we're going to Naboo to train?"
"B-because it's your home world? Because I can't lift the box with the For-"
"Because you can't wield the force to save your life. That makes you a liability on the battlefield, and an embarrassment on Coruscant."
Aadihr put his head down and walked in silence up the temple steps.

Aadihr knew the real reason. The other Masters had seen Luka's method of teaching and they shouted at her about it. Aadihr wasn't strong enough and they must be blaming Luka for it. Aadihr wished he could just lift the box like the others. The other Padawans had laughed when he couldn't lift the box with the force, and then they all got quiet when the sparring demonstration began. Afterwards was the shouting.

Aadihr adjusted his blindfold again, it was hard to find a comfortable spot with the bruise above his ear.

"So we're going to-"
"So we're going to train here with no interruptions or distractions until you learn."

Aadihr kept quiet. He learned it was best to stay quiet when Master Luka answered quickly with that aura.

"Aadihr—stay with me,"
Aadihr followed Luka to the training ground. There were less people watching than before. Less people paying attention.
"Help me,"
Luka preferred training with staffs
She said that even when your lightsaber is away from you, weapons could be found everywhere. Aadihr didn't want to see everything as a weapon. She tossed Aadihr a staff.
"We need to stop the bleeding and get him to shelter. Now."
Luka would wait until he made the first move. Then she would start.
"M-Master, we n-need to c-ca-caut—"
"I— I c-can't."

Aadihr didn't want to make the first move. Luka's always hurt when her aura looked like that - but the more he waited, the worse it would be.
"Give me it."
THUMP
Luka was better than Aadihr, easily able to parry and riposte, knocking the wind from him.
THUMP
The master knocked his legs out from under him.
*THUMP
Pain and blackness.
THUMP
There was no one to tell Luka when to stop here.
THUMP
Nobody that would.
THUMP
Aadihr wanted to go back to Coruscant.
THUMP
Aadihr wanted to go back to Alpheridies.
THUMP
Aadihr didn't want to be a Jedi anymore.

"Aadihr—stay with me,"

Aadihr awoke to the smell of burning flesh. His own, cauterized with a purple lightsaber. The his heart pounded in his ears, and his knees weak. His breathing steadied - he was safe. He was safe. Luka was gone.

Rayia looked up from where she had impaled yet another frozen corpse with her lightsaber. The ice, vaporized on contact with the blade, soon began to gurgle with the sound of water pouring forth and refreezing. The air stank of decay, despite the fact that Jedha had been a desert world not that many cycles ago. Rayia knew that the foul smell of rot rose more from the exacerbation of the Dark than any biological source. Even still, she stepped back and wrinkled her nose as she turned to face the group.

There was a momentary pause as the members of the group in turn considered her question regarding the witch’s surrender. ‘Wait, you don’t think I meant that- Oh. Oh, you all do,’ Rayia thought to herself as what had been an attempt at a jest to calm her nerves failed to land. And well, Rayia wasn’t going to reveal that now. Better that they think she was a proper Jedi. Yes, very proper.

Rayia’s attention drifted to Cora as she asked whether or not Rayia knew pyrokinesis. “Jonyna taught it to me. And it is a good plan,” she replied, with a slight dip of the head. Jonyna was one of the best pyrokinetics in the order, and that shriek that had reverberated through the entire area was anything but subtle.

As the group came into contact with the witch, Rayia did not bother taunting. The witch had attempted to ambush them, and clearly seemed to not be in the mood for words. That suited Rayia just fine. After all, she now had a gauge for the witch’s reaction speed thanks to her tail’s ability to sense motion. After glancing towards Azzie to make sure that she was okay, Rayia followed up Cora’s riposte with one of her own.

Stretching out her hand, Rayia thought back to the lessons that Jonyna had taught her about the flame. ‘It’s asking, but without words,’ Rayia repeated to herself. She visualized the flimsy, weaving strands of golden light stretching down from the sun. With a simple directive, she sent them spinning. As the glowing strands tangled up, they slithered around each other and grew thicker, as if they were not energy but a ball of yarn.

A ball of glowing flame popped into existence in Rayia’s palm, before hurling itself after the ice shard. It was small, yes, but by design. The slight delay and the difference in size, Rayia hoped, would allow the ice shard to eclipse it and obscure its presence until the last moment.

The crack of Cora’s saber cutting through ice rang in Azzie’s ears, a sharp counterpoint to the cold silence that had preceded it. The visions of the strike that had moved before her eyes hadn't been nearly enough time to fully react—one second, she was stepping onto the ice, and the next, death had been rushing toward her in the form of a jagged spike. Her heart pounded against her ribs as she stared at the severed chunk lying uselessly at her feet, steam still curling from where Cora’s blade had sliced clean through it.

The Force had been with her, but it had been Cora’s quick thinking that had saved her from becoming a pincushion. Her eyes flicked to Cora, her jaw tight, but her gaze filled with a silent gratitude. “I owe you one after this,” she muttered, her voice low but edged with dry humor. She gave the rest of the group a quick nod. It was time to put the plan into action.

Azzie didn’t hesitate. As Cora and Thea kept the witch’s attention with their biting words and Rayia launched her fiery counter, she shifted her focus inward. She called upon the Force, cloaking herself in its currents. The sheer intensity of the witch’s power pressed against her own, threatening to unravel her focus. The air shimmered where she once stood, then nothing.

She moved, swift and silent, slipping to the side, angling for a better position. The ice and snow was treacherous, but harsh terrain was something that wasn't new to her. She let her instincts take over, her steps light, her breath even.

The timing had to be perfect. Cora’s ice shard hurtled toward their enemy, obscuring Rayia’s fireball behind it. The witch could likely sense the attack, but would she anticipate the second wave? Would she be able to react to both? She didn’t want to wait too long to find out.

Azzie pointed outward with one of her swords, fire erupting from her hands in a flash, coiling around her blade like a serpent before she lashed out with it. The flame leapt forward, stretching, twisting, shaping itself into something more. A whip of fire. It snapped through the air, a streak of orange and gold against the frozen blue. Though it revealed her position, it was already in motion, headed straight for Kaga's waist in a flaming arc.

Words seemed to fall on deaf ears. It wasn't entirely clear if the witch could hear them, but it was very clear she could sense them. White ichor of spellcraft rang through the air as the first attack came her way.

A wall of ice sprang to Kaga's defence, blocking the assault, as the steam of flame crashed across it.

At the very least, her attention seemed to be still on Cora and Thea, as the wall crashed down once more, only to reform into a much larger, quickly advancing wall of spikes that pushed towards the three like a wave on the ocean. Simple attacks of flame wouldn't dissuade her. Kaga just needed to kill these four, then move on. The Je'daii were small in numbers, after all.

Still, she couldn't risk these ones out maneuvering her.

The four could feel it. With every step on the frozen arena floor, the ice began to crawl up their legs...

The creeping death...

Thea gritted her teeth as the ice crept up her legs, a biting chill sinking deep into her bones. The witch was strong, but she wasn't the only one with magic. Thea had some basic studies in her clan's specialty before she was brought to the temple, so she just had to hope it was enough.

She began to mutter a chant, and a feint icy glow eminated from her free hand. The frost on her legs slowed, cracks forming in the unnatural growth as her own magic wove through it. It wasn't a perfect counter, but it would buy her some time. Thea also felt this would grab the witch's attention probably more than their insults would.

“I owe you one after this,” she muttered, her voice low but edged with dry humor.

"I prefer red wine over white."

Not dissuaded by the witch's pointed introduction, the Padawans were quick to spring into action. Rayia cleverly hid a ball of flame within the shadow of Cora's icy projectile, while Azzie transformed one of her blades into a deadly whip of fire that aimed for the witch's core.

Their opponent raised a wall in defense, absorbing fire and ice alike. Then, the wall rose again, sharp spikes protruding from the great white wave as it swept through the arena - it was a stark reminder just whose battlefield they were on.

As the wall of ice approached, Cora called on the Force to aid her in a flying leap. Pushing off the ice was a bit of a scramble, but she cleared the deadly barricade, boots landing on the ice with a heavy thuk.

The knight extended one hand, keeping the witch in her sights. The Force would twist and turn within Kaga, inciting a powerful dizziness theat aimed to give the Padawans an opening.

So great was Cora's concentration that she barely felt the chill at her feet as it began to creep up her legs.

Valery kept firm pressure on Aadihr's wound, her hands steady even as the freezing air bit at her exposed skin. Her fiery gaze flickered toward Reina as the girl reached for the lightsaber, her expression unreadable for a moment. Then, with a small, approving nod, she shifted her grip slightly, giving Reina the space to work.

The hum of the blade igniting was sharp against the howling wind.

She felt Aadihr twitch beneath her hands as the searing heat met his wound, his body instinctively reacting to the pain even in his unconscious state. But Valery didn't let go. She kept him grounded, kept his body from jerking too violently as Reina worked with the quiet, efficient precision of someone who had done this before. The stench of burning flesh filled the air, mixing with the iron tang of blood and the cold, crisp scent of snow.

Then, his breathing hitched.

Aadihr stirred.

Valery's fiery gaze snapped back to his face just as his eyes fluttered open, his entire body tensing beneath her. There was confusion there, disorientation — memories bleeding into the present, a moment of uncertainty about where he was, when he was. She recognized it instantly, saw the weight of something else buried in his mind. But now wasn't the time to address it.

"You're safe," she murmured, voice steady but gentle.

She didn't hesitate. Moving with the grace and strength of a seasoned warrior, Valery adjusted her hold and lifted him with ease, shifting him into a secure, bridal carry against her chest. He had lost too much blood. Even if he thought he could walk, she wasn't going to risk it.

"We're moving," she called out, her tone sharp and commanding as she turned toward the others.

Her gaze locked onto Everest, and Reina, each of them still tense from the battle, still standing amid the frozen wasteland they had been thrown into. The firelight flickered against their faces, casting long shadows, but the urgency in Valery's eyes burned brighter than the flames.

"Cover me," she ordered, tightening her grip around Aadihr as she prepared to move. "We're extracting him now." Valery took a breath, steeled herself against the exhaustion creeping at the edges of her own body, and then she moved. Fast. There was no turning back now.

"Aris!" She called out to her son, fighting off Sithspawn ahead of the group, "We're moving out!"

Objective: Slay the Witch

At first, Rayia hardly noticed the creeping chill. The heat blooming from Light Fang’s blade sufficiently doused the sensation from her mind. Instead, her lips twisted into a snarl as she saw that the witch had reacted to Cora’s initial attack by erecting an ice wall. Such total cover diffused Rayia’s annd Azurine’s own attacks just as effectively, sending a spray of mist coiling into the air as flame burst across its surface.

Rayia noted with perhaps a twinge of passing irritation, that the witch did not seem to consider her or Azzie as primary targets. Her swift counterattack of a myriad spears of ice flew more in Cora’s and Thea’s directions. It was what Rayia had expected. She supposed that in the scheme of things, it would seem that way given the pair’s decoration as Knights. ‘Everyone always assumes the kit’s bite isn’t sharp enough to hurt. Ah well, at least we can take advantage of that,’ Rayia thought leaping out of the way as the ice spears rumbled past her.

Rayia’s ear flicked as she heard Cora express a preference for red wine over white. She filed that tidbit away for later. After all, Rayia did intend to ask Cora to show her around the rebuilt Ukatis. It would be a good idea to bring a gift.

Her pounce took her towards Azzie, and Rayia quickly scrambled up to her. “I’ll make an opening. You corner her,” she said. Glancing briefly at each of her companions in turn, Rayia mouthed a quick message taking advantage of the momentary lapse of observation from the opponent due to their defense, “Close your eyes.” Then, raising Light Fang towards Kaga, Rayia pressed a slight indented button on the inward side of Light Fang’s guard. A soft metallic click heralded the release of a power modulator within the hilt. Blinding light filled the chamber as the luminosity of Light Fang’s blade intensified to a painful burst.

Rayia’s eyes swam with tears as her surroundings blurred to refracted beams of dazzling light. But her tail, with its Felucatian sensory organ to sense the vibration of motion, allowed her snapshots of the room. Sensations of individual movements, silhouettes, against a stark backdrop. With the same motion that had activated Light Fang’s hidden trigger, Rayia drew down the ribbons of light which coalesced into peppering streaks of flame as they fell from the sky. She hurled these at the silhouette which she knew to be where the witch stood.

Everything seemed to happen so quickly, yet to Eve it was as if she were watching it unfold before her it all in slow motion. Reina took the lightsaber without any qualm, and she and Master Noble worked diligently together to stop the Knight's bleeding, whilst Eve watched the entire thing from outside of herself. It was as though she had become an external observer; a camera hovering above herself and the entire horrific scene.

The Knight's sudden lurch back to life, and the smell of burning flesh that attacked her nostrils, pulled her back in. She was still shaking, and her eyes were damp from panicked snivelling, but the Knight was alive. Why couldn't she do anything? Her legs had frozen still, seeming to sink into the very ground itself. But Master Noble's eyes were what truly shook her from her trance, and she once again was reminded of the uncontrollable beating of her heart as the rest of her body caught up with itself.

Eve gave a timid nod, taking the lightsaber back from Reina, and her body sprung forth as her legs returned to life. She was dizzy and dazed, and the colour had seemed to leave her vision as it narrowed and darkened. She could hear her own breathing hard against her ears, but her body seemed to move for her as the adrenaline sunk its teeth into her suddenly.

So she ran.

Lightsaber once again ignited, Eve leapt forward, keeping as close to Master Noble as she could. Time seemed to slow around her, and whilst she could barely hear anything on account of her own deafening heartbeat, she could see the growing movement of shadows creeping into the corners of her darkened vision. Silver eyes flitted unconsciously about their surroundings, moving like that of an animal's at the height of its instinct, but amidst the panic that consumed her so rabidly, a single thought had formed at the forefront of her mind as the basis of her existence in that moment.

We need to get through this.

Steady hands, steady work. Don't panic. Reina frowned to herself at the scent of burnt flesh. It wasn't a smell that she had wanted to reexperience in a long time. This was not as fun as earlier. Fighting, killing those monsters. The adrenaline that had been running through her veins. That was fun. Balancing on a tight rope between life and danger was what she lived for. Whereas this was...Reina didn't have any words to describe it. It was different when she was saving someone by fighting. Treating someone was a completely different beast. She had no clue who's blood was on her hands anymore.

Luckily, it seemed like the man was alive. At least from the way Valery Noble Valery Noble stood up to get ready to carry him. A small frown graced Reina's face, as she glanced over towards Everest Vale Everest Vale , as the girl took the lightsaber back. No. It was for the best that Valery carried Aadihr Lidos Aadihr Lidos . Everest wouldn't be able to do it. To Reina that wasn't good. Everest was panicking too much. It'd be harder for Reina to rely on her. Honestly, Reina didn't want to rely on the other girl but with Valery busy carrying the man, it was up to Reina, Everest and Aris Noble Aris Noble . Hopefully Aris was pretty capable. He seemed it at least.

With that, she set out to move. The adrenaline was slowly starting to wear down as she winced to herself. Holding her hand to her shoulder as she tried to fight through the pain. They were almost there. At least she hoped. That was all she could do. Hope that they were getting closer to being finished with this all. The cold was somehow getting colder, even as they were still moving. That wasn't good. Just keep moving forward.

Even as Reina could hear the growls in the night, her eyes darted towards Everest. She was doing her hardest not to judge the other girl but it was hard not to. Why was someone like that, doing something like this? She couldn't even remember the last time she was like that. Had she ever been like that? No. It was unfair of her to think like that. Not everyone was raised the way Reina was. Just stop thinking about that. Reina had to keep moving. Get ready to defend at a moment's notice.

Azzie’s heart pounded in her chest as she watched the chaos unfold before her, the heat of the battle filling the air with a charged intensity. The icy wall rose and fell with relentless precision, forcing her and her comrades to move with calculated urgency. The cold creeping up their legs made every step feel heavier and slower, and Azzie cursed under her breath in Zabraki. But she couldn’t afford to let that distract her.

Then, the world exploded into light. Even with her eyes clenched shut, the brilliance burned against her lids, but she didn’t need sight to understand what was happening. Rayia was setting her up to push forward. They all were. They trusted her to land the shot. She could only hope that their faith wasn't misplaced. The ice had started to crawl up her legs, but she didn’t need to deal with it now. The opportunity to strike was here, and she couldn’t afford to hesitate. Azzie grinned, her lips curling into a defiant smirk. The witch had underestimated them, and now she would learn that was a mistake. She nodded to the others, an idea mixing with instinct.

With a sharp inhale, Azzie willed the fire to her feet. Flames roared to life beneath her boots, igniting in an instant as she let the Force carry her forward. She launched herself through the air like a missile, the heat from her flight carving a smoking trail against the frozen ground.

The fire at her feet surged, propelling her into a twisting spiral, her foot engulfed in a blaze as she swung up and around for the witch’s head. The sheer force of it, the full weight of her speed, power, and sheer determination, drove her strike forward like a hammer to an anvil. This wasn’t just her attack—it was all of their attempts combined. Whether or not the strike landed, she shifted quickly enough to attempt to use her momentum to hook one of the ice spikes right next to her and swing her around for another go, this time with the hook of her blade arching towards their opponent's neck and chest.

Strike fast, as swiftly as possible; don't let the opponent get too much of an edge. Don't let her have time to think.

The world jostled around Aadihr, a steady rhythm of footsteps - the cool feeling on a wound freshly healed, mixed with the sting of recent cauterization.
Look at what you've done. They have to pick up your slack because you don't take your training seriously enough.

Aadihr's mind was hazy, a bright light in the force blinding his mind's eye, a sun piercing through his wound-sleep.

"I'm sorry, Master"
Aadihr muttered through cold-chapped lips, memories mixing with the present.

The cold was insistent, going to his bones, shivering despite himself. Master would chastise him if she saw that - tapas was essential in cold weather operations.

It wasn't Lady Felcado carrying Aadihr. He was no longer a child.

The Jedi knight could scarcely recognize the Grandmaster up close. The blinding light and waning energy drowned out his senses to everything else. He tried to stir, to search for Grandmaster Noble's son, had he left Aris alone? Was he alright?

The bright presence was soothing, he pulled back into a sleep, assured that Aris was well, and everything would be fine.

He sat in the grass, a child once more. Instead of the dissapproving presence of Master Felcado, a blank spot replaced the aura - the light of Valery Noble Valery Noble shined instead through the hole in his memory.

He was not a boy who's failure as a Padawan had led to his current condition, just a boy who had fallen and scraped their knee. He would be fine, the pain was only temporary.

Still, something lingered in his mind. It took the form of an elderly Iridonian with cheap prosthetics, helping Aadihr to his feet. A reminder. A duty.

"The survivors... Aris knows the way, warmth and... shelter." Aadihr said even as his head rolled back into semi-consciousness.

It had worked out so smoothly in her mind.

Kill the Je'daii.

Return the galaxy to it's natural state.

Rest easy.

The dizziness wouldn't have effected her so much had it not been for the sudden feel of magic pushing back against her. Another witch? How many were there?! In her own time, the practice was all but dead. In her time, the je'daii weren't using blades of flame, and weren't capable of...this.

Then came the blinding flash. The witch lashed out, firing a blast of cryokinesis at the blinding blade, and it's user.

But then it came. A kick right to the face, knocking Kaga over, and sliding across the ice, only to be met with another, a slash from that damned hookblade. It was imbued, just like the Je'daii had. As the blade sliced into Kaga's chest, the witch let out a piercing scream at Azurine, in an attempt to stun the Je'daii, before she summoned an ice spike, snapping it off with her bare hands, and throwing it at Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania like a javelin.

Black ichor dripped across the melting ice. Her own blood, long corrupted and turned like ink from centuries of channeling the dark side. The nightsister would not allow the je'daii to dissuade her.

And so she did what she needed to.

The ice under them began to groan and crack.

The tower was collapsing.

Thea gritted her teeth against the piercing scream that tore through the frozen air. It rattled through her skull like jagged shards of glass, but she didn't let it stop her—not now, not when Kaga was still standing.

Her vision swam for half a second, just long enough for her to see the spike of ice hurtling toward Corazona. Thea didn't think—she just moved. A sharp burst of telekinetic force knocked the projectile off course, sending it clattering harmlessly against the ruined ground.

"You're a stubborn one, aren't you?" she bit out, eyes locking onto the witch.

She could hear the ice beneath them groaning, cracking, shifting under their feet. Kaga was willing to bring the whole damn place down if it meant taking them with her.

Thea exhaled sharply, steadying herself.

"Typical. You can't win, so you're gonna make sure nobody else does either." Thea said just before she turned her forcus to the others on the team. "She's going to be bring down the whole place! We have to get out of here!"

Their combined efforts - the distractions, the disorientation, and the aggressive, fiery strikes - proved enough to topple the witch.

And, as it happened, she seemed intent on toppling the palace she'd built. Cora's jaw clenched as the witch's scream pierced her ears, muffling the sounds of shifting ice around them. Her eyes flicked to Thea's hand, following the sudden motion as it knocked the icy projectile off course.

The blonde let out a huff in relief, the heat of her breath hanging in the frosty air.

"You have my thanks," she said. The ice trembled beneath their feet, cracks scoring along a once pristine arena. Cora leapt to avoid a deadly plunge toward the snow-covered ground.

Peering off the edge of the platform, she extended her senses toward the earth below. Deeper and deeper they sank, until she found what she was looking for - dormant life.

"Cover me!" she called to the others.

Killing her saber, Cora turned her attention to Jedha's snowy surface. Both hands extended as she focused on the plant life that lay beneath the icy exterior, pouring every ounce of her concentration into growth.

This would've been easier if she had…taken over a…jungle…

Under the Force's influence, cracks began to emerge from the permafrost far below them. Thin spires, wooden brown in color, poked above the ice. They grew upward, twisting and twining around one another tightly until they'd formed a trunk-like rope that reached the platform.

Cora reached out and wrapped her hand around the makeshift escape route. She tugged, and it remained firm. It wouldn't hold forever, but it could give them a chance to reach the ground without ending up as bright red smears against a winter landscape.

"Let's get out of here," she called to the others before descending.
