Solo: A Star Wars Story

I'm not going to waste time writing a big review for this, but the way I see it Solo suffers from two fundamental problems.

1. Harrison Ford's Han Solo has become so psychologically ingrained that Alden Ehrenreich could never hope to bridge that gap, no matter how good his performance.
2. It's hard to become too emotionally invested in the action when you already know all of the main characters' fates.

These two reasons are what is probably keeping most people away. The movie did a few things right - namely keeping things fairly light-hearted and free from the shackles of weighty emotion for the first half of the movie. Unfortunately, the end of the movie and the introduction of the band of orphan children ruins this. There's a good movie hiding in here somewhere.

There are a lot of issues though, and a few "wtf" moments aside from the aforementioned main problems. There are a lot of pointless characters in this movie. The runtime is too long. There is an implicit sexual relationship between Lando and his droid that is weird, awkward and just plain offputting. Also, the ridiculous notion of social justice for droids is thrown in for good measure. So that's a thing now. Apparently.

I didn't hate Solo as much as I thought I would. It's better than Episode VIII, I'll give it that. But I can't say I particularly loved it either.

2/5 from me.

Decided to suspend my dis-trust of any new SW movie, after I got burnd on TFA and TLJ, and give this a chance... WOW! I loved almost evry moment of it. Seeing Maul agen :D :D :D , stil kicking (aparently he got out of vhat-ever torture-hell Palpatine put him thru in TCW serie), that aktor who played Solo did a good job (as good as any1 can do, since nobody can realy replace Harrison Ford, imo). Calrissian vas a bit weak tho, but not to bad, that gun-slinger guy vas badass, but i'm glad Solo killed him in the end :p, etc... the villains wer a bit lame tho, IMO. That Crimson Dawn mafia-boss guy vasnt much, and those marauders wer prety lame too. Oh and Solo's gf, that Asian-looking chick... she irked me too. Especialy how at the start, shes this niny damzel-in-distres type, then all a suden, by the time Solo cros paths vith her agen, vhich vasnt that long, shes second-in-comand of Crimson Dawn, and aparently a Teras Kasi master? Wow, talk about moving up in the vorld in rekord time... even for a movie, that rekuires me to suspend my dis-belif a bit too much. Plus I maked it clyar vhat my opinion is of eye-candy chicks trying to pretend they know how to fight. At lest she did a marginaly beter job of akting it out then Rey, so thats something.

But yea asyde from those few irks, a great movie. :) So far above the afore-mentioned lore-breking, politicaly-corect crap that is TFA and TLJ.
