Songsteel and void stones in a slugthrower

[member="Rusty"] Thus my telling her you were the man to see Gertrude. and this is why i stick to droids vehicles and Melee weapons. my little knowledge of firearms is limited an a little knowledge is dangerous.

Would a slugthrower built out of songsteel, using 7.62x54r bullets at 800-900 m/s muzzle velocity (otherwise what you can get out of regular slugthrowers), still be a viable choice to fight Sith Lords at range?

That's good for 500m effective range (similar to those real-world rifles using 7.62x54r bullets), 6-7kg... but at least it's shoulder-fired.

Cathul would use a lightsaber and spells in close-quarters however - her spells' effective range is about 20 meters or so, perhaps even 10.

Song steel can still be deflected it is saber resistant but it doesn't go threw a saber. using it as a coating for a standard slug thrower would be a better option.
Song steel i my oppinion ( only mine) is better in Melee rather than range.

btw ii'll take you up on that rhyming thread to get my own stuff.

Making a coating, is a... Well decently bad waste. If i was you, go the whole route. Ie, make a pistol instead of coat it, make a suit of armor instead of a layer.

This coming from someone whom has extensively studied metallurgy of several variants. I am nowhere near brilliant, but i can tell you a layer of any alloy is simply that. A layer. If you have a layer or Songsteel, Phrik, and Beskar, it will still stop the blow of a lightsaber. Once. Amd it needs be a glancing blow
