Spare Time? What's That?

Kay-Larr

Things were getting too serious for Kay. So many terrible plunders, her Capital was under attack, the trial of her brother Gray, and members of the First Order were involving themselves even further into her life. There was even one trying to court her, though she pretended that it wasn't happening. Such a thing opened a door that she wasn't quite ready to step through.

So she sent word to her good friend [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] to come to Chasin City. She needed a break and he was her best buddy for that. He could always get her to laugh with his goofy attitude. And she needed a good laugh....Otherwise she was afraid that she might break.

And of course, he was happy to oblige. Shmi hadn't been around much, having been busy much more in the outer rim, and he hated to admit it but he got rather lonely. Human companionship was something that anyone required, so Josh was happy to come not just to entertain his friend, but so he didn't go crazy as well. Of course, Josh had done his part in trying to convince Kay to take a day off as well. The term "Overworking yourself nonstop too much with no break will only bring about wrinkles. And then one day, you'll begin seeing grey hairs!" came to mind, which he used quite bluntly.

The Final Dragon, a defender class corvette, would pull into Chasin City, at the spot where President Kay had chosen for them to meet.

She was waiting for him out on the platform, only one guard, Einon standing nearby. He was dressed in plain clothes, and even though she had informed him that [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] was one of her best friends, he still insisted on being there.
Kay huffed but didn't give any further arguments. Instead she would just ignore Einon as he preferred.

When Joshua's ship landed and he got out, she smiled brightly. "Thanks for coming! I have the whole day planned for us....and my chaperone."

Well, of course there had to be an escort. The Jedi would let out a mockingly overdramatic sigh with a hand on his head as she said that.

"Oh, what a shame! But alas! We'll have a ball regardless!" He would chirp, smiling in turn. But that smile would only grow as he would look toward their... Escort. "I'm sure your escort wouldn't mind if I used a few Jedi mind tricks and caused him to dance around and beat his chest like a gorilla for our entertainment! Oh! Maybe we can see how well he'd do against a rancor! Presidents get access to rancors, right? Let's make him fight a rancor for our entertainment! Well... Unless he has somewhere to be, of course."

He was kidding, of course. But deep down, he wanted to see if they could actually scare the chaperone off. He could tell that Kay wanted to be alone for this as much as he did.

Einon was about Kay's age, and he just gave [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] a look that said 'Really? Just go ahead and try it.' It was steeped with an underlaying cockiness.

Kay on the other hand just laughed. "I'm afraid that the only dangerous creatures here are the Sith and Imperials. Well...and the Crime Lords." She linked her arm with Joshua's and then began taking him to the gardens, whispering, "Come on. We'll lose him in the hedge maze." Then she spoke in her normal voice with a laugh so that Einon could hear. "This way to the gardens. I set up some lunch and some tea."

A cackle escaped him as the man didn't seem to react - actually he just seemed borderline cocky. To be honest, it made him want to mess with him more. "Really though, if necessary, I can take over his shift as escort. A Jedi Master isn't going to do you any harm" He remarked. "I mean, what do I look like; Daella Apparine?"

Not-so-subtle jabs aside, he would smirk when she took his arm and began to lead him into the maze. "That works too" He whispered back. He should have known she would have had a plan.

Kay had no idea who Daella was. She just gave [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] a confused look. Then she shrugged her shoulders a bit as she led him away. Einon kept pace about thirty feet back. Once they were at the gardens, she hurried to the table and grabbed a few cookies. "Grab some cookies. We'll eat half and use the rest to crumble and leave a trail so that we don't get lost."

They wouldn't get lost. But she had planned on getting Einon lost by using the Force to leave a trail of crumbs going in the opposite way. Kay knew the way out and she had one of the staff leave her speeder bike on the north side of the maze. Oh yes. They'll lose him then.

He noted the confused look on her face, so he merely replied with "She's Judas" to clarify quickly. He'd tell the story a bit more in future if she asked, of course, but the term "judas" should probably tell her that he was referring to a turncoat, a backstabber, in some way, shape or form. And it must have been a big one if he'd name them in particular above all the other Judases. Of course, this one in particular being a former Jedi probably didn't help at all...

The cookies bit confused him this time, and he just stared at her with a bewildered look for a moment, but just shrugged it off and took the cookies as the President commanded. Geez, and he thought that sometimes he could be a bit immature for a Jedi Master. Apparently Rogue Masters, and Presidents at that, could also be a bit... Well, yeah. But at the very least, he didn't feel so bad about it himself now.

Kay wasn't immature, she was a wunderkind. A wee bit weird if compared to most of the people that she knew. And of course she was stubborn.

She munched on a cookie and then crumbled a bit of it at the opposite passage than the one she chose to go through. It was a simple ploy. Sometimes the most simplest plans worked out far better than the complicated ones.

There was some stuff that she wanted to talk about, but she couldn't do it around Einon. Or at least, she didn't want to. Kay kept interchanging between munching on a cookie and dropping crumbs, at times putting them in the direction that they were going in order to throw Einon off.

"So, have you been keeping out of trouble?"

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

He'd still say she somewhat had a childish mind. Not that he minded, it just meant that he wasn't so bad for being a bit silly at times himself. And what was wrong with being silly anyway, right?

Josh would follow suit, casually munching the cookie. He hadn't ate before he had arrived, so while it was junk food, he'd make do. When Kay ran out of cookies, he'd follow her example, in order to throw whatshisface off the scent.

When she would ask her question, he would shrug his shoulders. "Depends on what you mean by trouble" He teased, with another cheeky grin.

"Oh, you know...the kind that would send bounty hunters after you, and the like." Kay had led [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] towards the exit. But the truth was, Einon didn't follow them in the maze at all. He had a background check done on the Jedi Master to be sure that he was who he said that he was. And sure enough, the information that he needed was listed on his datapad.

Once outside of the maze, Kay grinned at seeing her speederbike. She hurried over to it and hopped on, plopping her helmet onto her head. And of course there was a spare that she held out for Joshua. "Come on. I'm not a crazy driver. Well....maybe a little bit of one.."

Josh had to wonder just how they had lost the man so quickly. He was definitely suspicious of the whole thing, but he wouldn't question it for the moment. If something was going on, then he would be ready for it. He didn't tell Kay of his suspicions, they would come up when and if they were necessary.

The Jedi Master would quirk a brow at her remarks about being a crazy driver, as he would take the helmet and snap it on before climbing onto the speeder seat behind her.

"Women always say they're not a crazy driver, and the result always seems to be the same" He joked, letting out a sigh. This would be... Interesting.

Once [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] was seated behind her, she started the speederbike up. But instead of peeling out like a crazy person, she took off more smoothly. That is until they left the Palace grounds. Then she opened up the throttle and let the bike go near top speed across the valley. Embassies under construction could be seen as they whizzed by.

Soon they approached a canyon, but she didn't slow down. Instead she tightened her grip. "Hold on!!!" Seconds later she drove the bike over the edge. But instead of falling a great distance, they landed on an outcropping that led them down to the bottom of the tall canyon. Kay steered the bike through the maze, having taken this path many times before.

It wasn't long before they reached the ocean. Kay slowed her speederbike and then came to a stop. She grinned as she shut it down and took off her helmet. "No prying eyes or ears here. We can talk about whatever we want to now."

Josh had braced himself for her to go rocketing off, but to his surprise, she took off smoothly. The Jedi Master held on tight still, but began to relax. At least, until they left the palace grounds - in which she would turn on the throttle and rocket off. The Jedi would have to hang onto whatever he could for dear life to keep from falling off the speeder bike, but he found his hold eventually.

"Hold on" she had said.

"Wait what?"

Josh had to hold on for dear life again, just when he had begun to relax, when they would drive straight off a cliff. He shut his eyes, but was surprised to find that the impact didn't take long to find, and he opened his eyes again. Soon, they would stop in front of the ocean, after the whole rollercoaster ride. The speeder would fizzle down and Josh would irritably put the helmet away and step off the speeder, rubbing his head.

"Next time, I drive" He remarked, rolling his eyes. He would stop to get a look at the view of the place, before taking a deep breath, trying to get his bearings back. He would take a seat, and just nod his head when she spoke.

"I'm guessing this is where you take the secret boyfriends?" He immediately joked with a cheeky grin - as though the whole ordeal hadn't happened.

Kay was used to that kind of reaction. Well, she had only taken someone there once, and it was the same way. But you never know if everyone was going to react in that manner. Now she knew for next time. If their was a next time, that is.

She smirked at [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] 's comments, plopping her helmet onto the seat. "Secret boyfriends...yeah right. Believe me, if I ever got myself a boyfriend, it wouldn't be a secret. It'd be broadcasted among everyone that I know. I can just hear them quipping about 'The Space Nun has found a man!'"

Women were crazy drivers - that was all Josh had taken from this whole thing so far. He wasn't sure if he'd trust Kay to drive a speeder anytime soon. He would roll his eyes at her comment, and simply laughed in turn. "Oh really now?" He would tease. "Well, I'll certainly keep an eye out for the airwaves. Space Nun, huh? Didn't think you'd have that nickname, but..." The blonde would crack, shooting her a cheeky little grin.

He would sit down, and let out a sigh. "On the topic... Haven't seen Shmi a whole lot as of late" He would admit. "She's been busy, swamped in her work in the Outer Rim. We're used to being apart for long instances of time, but this is more then I'm used to, for sure" He added, notably biting his lip. It was probably the first time she'd seen any sort of emotion of the sort out of him. "But I'll admit, I miss her to pieces. Hopefully she comes around soon. I hope she's safe too... I'd hate to lose her." Josh would add, scratching his head as he looked out at the ocean. "Love is a fragile thing... One day it's there... One day it might not be. You need to cherish your partner, because... They might not be there tomorrow."

Clearly it'd been eating at him. But, well... He knew to trust [member="Shmi Labooda"]

She hadn't let him down before.

Of course... He knew that Kay knew this feeling all too well. In a way, maybe it was why he said it. He knew she'd understand. But he managed a smile as he looked back at her.

"Still... I have faith in her."

The blonde took a deep breath.

"So, how's running a governing body or whatever going for you, Kay-Kay?"

Kay smirked. It should come at no surprise that she would have that nickname. Afterall, she had been a widow for 12 years, was married for only 3 before that, and she had been with no one ever since her husband's passing. She wasn't like the few men that had tried flirting with her in hopes of getting a one night stand. No. She didn't want to be a notch in anyone's belt.

She knew exactly what [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] was talking about when it came to significant others not being around. Her late husband was often gone not long before he was killed. It was another ploy by his killer to split them up. Yet it didn't work. Even in death, she remained loyal to his memory. Yet now she was coming to realize how lonely of an existence she was leading and that bottling everything up inside wasn't helping her either.

At any rate, Joshua changed the subject. She smirked at his own little nickname for her. At least it was better than Empress Kay. Her adopted brother liked to call her that one. "It seems to be going okay. I'm making sure to delegate and not try to do everything myself. I still don't get much spare time, but I suppose that keeps me out of trouble. For the most part anyways."

Well, he certainly hoped Shmi wouldn't end up the same way as her husband. Sure, Josh had been in a few relationships, but he couldn't recall a time that it had clicked quite like with Shmi. It just felt... Right, somehow. Sometimes he cursed himself for not coming clean about how he felt to her earlier - if he'd known their relationship would have been as wonderful as it had been in the brief time they had been together. He really did want this one with Shmi to last. Besides, Josh wasn't a guy who went into relationships thinking they'd be temporary. He only dated someone he could see himself being with for the rest of his life. Granted, his choice in women hadn't always been great... But they did help him learn what his standards should be. Preferably not skanks, or Sith. Luckily Shmi was neither, and then some to boot.

"The most part?" He inquired, chuckling as he raised a brow. "Something tells me that they don't tend to be able to keep you out of trouble, Kay-Kay. You and trouble just seem to go hand in hand" The blonde would tease with a playful smile. "Granted, it seems to follow me around as well. I'm a magnet for it, I just don't go looking for it."

Kay just shrugged her shoulders a bit as she gave a small smile. "Well I try to stay out of trouble, but just like you, I am a magnet." A magnet that sometimes makes the wrong choices, or doesn't understand the full consequences of her decisions.

"What kind of trouble have you been in lately?" She decided to keep the attention focused on [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] and away from herself. More than likely it was better that way.

"Try, yeah right" He teased back with a cheeky smile. "Kay, how long have I known you now, love? Come on, don't lie to me" The Jedi Master would joke in turn. She seemed to be getting into trouble at pretty much every turn, she was definitely a magnet for it, sure, but she sure knew how to bring her to it.

"Me? Trouble? Nah" The Jedi would joke with a laugh. "It's been rather quiet on my end, if I'm being honest. Prep work, really. Tracking down slavers. Nothing fun."
