Stage One - Freedom for the Common Man: Battle over Commenor.

Objective: Secure space around Commenor
Location: Orbital above the Capital blocked by the First Order

The Vice Minister received the response of the Rear Admiral, the New Republic Space Forces were securing the left flank of the Sith Defense Fleets and nearly cutting off the ability to leave their direction. The 4th Sector Fleet was still in a secured position in the orbit of the planets moon. Things were going the way of the New Republic and their mission.

It was at this time that he received the communications ordered by the Alliance Remnant Forces. It seemed an Admiral [member="Mazik Stazi"] did not like that the New Republic was pushing the Order out of the fight. Before responding or even getting a transmission from the FO Fleet, he slammed his hand on the hand rail in front of him, then pointed to a near by Communications officer, "Inform Rear Admiral George to place his fleet between the First Order and the Galactic Alliance Armada, we are here to liberate the Commenorian People, not allow the damn karks a revenge trip."

The female officer nodded, "Understood sir."

As she relayed the message Admiral Baxton turned to the Vice Chancellor, "Is it wise to get between the Alliance and the First Order-" As he was talking he was cut off by a bridge officer playing the First Orders response.

Tobia nodded, "Enemies of the Future are not the Enemies of the Present, remember that Admiral." Tobias radioed the Alliance Fleet and made sure they were aware of his stance. "Admiral Stazi, by order of the New Republic Vice Chancellor you will stand down your intentions with the First Order and prevent the Sith Center from retreating or surrounding the Silver and Commenorian Fleets, they will be standing down and will receive the protection of the New Republic."

Waving the Coms to be closed, he turned to the man with the First Order Officer, [member="Manfreid von Donitz"], on the other line. "Captain Manfreid von Dönitz, you are protected by New Republic Defense Rules of Conflict Section 32B-5A, Firing on our vessels or any ships in the Sector will resulting in your Neutral Stance and result with our Fleet engaging your forces, as part of the Evacuation policy we will demand that only First Order Citizens transmit their Passports while those willing to leave be given First Order Refugee Status before leaving the atmosphere of the planet, we have received reports of Commenorian Citizens being Smuggled off planet and fleeing Commenorian Law, Please Transmit this data to the provided encrypted channel for review and approval by Commenorian Officials," he paused with that part of the transmission sent, "We will be sending an Invasion ships to the surface, should your troops shoot at our vessels, we will not hesitate to attack in return."

The man tapped his foot on the durasteel floor and looked at the Fleet Com, "Inform the Silvers and Commenorian that their is a small whole in the Siths Left Flank, ignore the First Order ships and get our men to the Surface." He paused to let that message be sent, "Also get Marshal Drox to get the Invasion Army on the Ground to take back the planet."

It was not an easy request, but Republic boots on the Ground First meant they could secure many objectives.

The 19th was already suffering from attrition as the numerous fleet assets engaged it. While multiple vessels were maneuvering about the area, the Sith were unable to maintain a position. Requests were sent to [member="Manfreid von Donitz"] of the First Order for assistance in engaging forces attacking the Sith Empire. The addition of the Sun Guard and Mandalorians to the hoipolloi of enemies were certainly not making this easy.

As well, the Saturn was at range, modulating its weapons and staying out of the fight as its shock jump system was charged up. The target: the CSA Resolute, the flagship of the entire operation. If the shock jump was successful and the Saturn's beam cannons were able to cripple the Resolute, the king of Commenor could be killed and this rebellion could end swiftly.

[member="Tobias Dracks"]

The portion of the 19th Fleet attempting to engage Dracks' fleet attempted to force itself back, impinging upon the temporary gap as it moved to try and slaughter the inevitable Republic push. The Sith pilots who had launched in their various vessels had been whipped into a frenzy given almost all enemies of the Sith Empire had gathered here to attack, and they fought on viciously.

[member="Kaine Australis"]

Transmissions had been sent to @Yasha Mantis from the squadrons of the 1st Fleet that had engaged the Mandalorians. All things considered, this was an easier fight given the Mandalorians had not brought along as overwhelming a fleet force, but even the 1st Fleet veterans were losing numbers against the reinforced members of House Australis. Vanessa would want Kaine's head after she found out.

[member="Mazik Stazi"] [member="Rick Kaloo"]

The main portion of the 1st Fleet were engaging the remnants of the Alliance navy, coalesced with the Mon Calamari task force. Attacked from two aspects, they were very much on a defensive position as their cannons engaged the Exile vessels at near point-blank range, doing their best to rake the enemy ships with copious quantities of cannon and beam fire. They were well within knife fight range now.

[member="Baron Morcus"]

The Maldrood irregulars, the Silencer dreadnoughts, would continue to engage Morcus' fleet even as one of their number fell to another proton beam's strike. The Dreadnoughts were focusing fire of their LRBBeams on single individual Star Destroyers, attempting to kill them through sheer number of beams. Given five of them were equivalent to the firepower of the Ablution, it was likely having some sort of effect.

"Sir, we're reading some unusual energy levels from the Enemy fleet..."

Vikras Ansion turned to look to the officers station while Veiere Arenais kept his eyes forward upon the sight of the battle over the world of Commenor, the Force seemed to surge around the King, his jaw tightening as he felt what could only be described as suspicion and impending dread.

"We're being targeted!"

The Admiral turned back to look towards the Observation Platform at the head of the Bridge as if trying to see evidence of the contrary, "Full to Port! Give everything to the shields, everybody brace for impact!!" Vikras yelled desperately over the sounds of the siren and lights going off within the bridge, emergency warnings sounding away as the flagships sensors picked up on the sudden burst of power coming from the Saturn.

The CSA Resolute began to veer off to the left in an attempt to evade the blast of the Saturn's modulated armaments. "Too late..." Veiere muttered under his breath before he was thrown to the floor of the bridge. The full force of the Saturn's Beam Cannon's struck the starboard side, tearing through the shields and the hull, exploding out through the stern. Immediately the Resolute's bow began to drop towards the World below, the engines crippled and the stabilizers proving useless in keeping her upright.

"Report?!?" Vikras yelled as the crew tried to scramble to their feet, some of the work stations having exploded in a hail of sparks and electricity, some of the crew not faring so well.

"They cut right through the Shields, Sir! The Stern's gone, we're dead in the water...".

Veiere groaned under his breath, though his ears rang so much that he could scarcely hear the unintelligible remark that he let loose in anger and defeat. Pushing himself back to his feet with the help of the nearby command station, he hazily looked around to find multiple bodies upon the floor, a couple of the consoles having caught alight and already having given the bridge a filter of smoke that stung at the eyes.

"All hands, Evacuate immediately!" Vikras voice came out across the Resolute's intercom.

"Vikras!" Veiere called over the rush of the others, moving to take the Admiral by the arm, "My hangar's closer, We need to transfer command to another ship". The King did not wait for the Admiral to turn him down, already pulling him away from the bridge. Vikras was very much the type of man to stay until the last of his crew had escaped, though frankly his experience was to important to Veiere and to Commenor for the King to let him sacrifice himself...

Lori nodded to [member="Orrico Wayke"] as he suggested tbat she move to the turrets with [member="Mark Cross"] and strap in. "I'll do so in a sec, once I hear back..."

[member="Tirtus Vex"] made a point about the sensors. Surely he would get the information that he needed once they were contacted either by [member="Veiere Arenais"] or Vikras.

Finally they got their orders. Lori grinned as she was quite confident in herself and those around her. ~Roger that, Admiral.
We'll be there quickly!~
She got up from her chair and spoke to her crew. "We've got our orders. Time to go after those fighters and get them to back away from the Resolute!"

Lori hurried over to the turrets, almost stumbling into the chair. She strapped herself in and then flicked the switches, activating and arming them. It was go time!

As soon as they were in range, Lori put her focus on the TIE Fighter squadrons. She had never dreamed of fighting against them and yet, here she was. Jaster's Sparrow was highly maneuverable and she had to trust her crew to manage to work as a unified team. Her tongue stuck out partly as she concentrated, moving her sights to follow the path of one if the TIE's. She hit the trigger and a volley of laser fire burst forth. The first few missed, but the next got a hit. It bounced off the deflector shield and so she fired at it again.

But then something else caught her attention in the distance. The Resolute was hit badly! Explosions and pieces of debri flew everywhere. "DAD!!!!!....DAD!!!!!!!" She couldn't lose him. Not now. Not when they had so much to do together. Lori was so conflicted. She couldn't try to hail the Resolute, she had to keep fighting. She wiped away a few tears. "We have to cover any escape pods! Get us there NOW!!"

Orrico reached up, deftly flicking switches and toggling buttons as he pushed the ship into red alert. His right hand came back to the control sticks as his left flew across the console adjusting shields and power outputs. "Copy that, lil' lady. Y'all best strap in, ten seconds out." Orrico turned the ship, and angled towards the nearest swarm of TIE fighters. "Accelerating to attack speed."

Orrico pushed the throttle forward, sinking back into his seat as the ship went streaking forwards towards the TIE fighters. With all weapons slaved to the turret control, all he had to do was keep the TIE fighters in the firing arc, [member="Loreena Arenais"] would handle the rest. He missed having his own hands on the trigger, but that would come in time. The Jaster's Sparrow was, as he quickly figured out, all too willing to dance, she just had to be shown where to go. As Lori opened fire on the first TIE, Orrico's brow furrowed. Sensors had gone dark. "Sensors out, you seeing same, Vex?"

And then he noticed the flash of light out of the corner of his eye. The Resolute had taken a hard hit. Not to the bridge, but it had almost ripped the ship in half. Orrico pulled the ship around, rolling out of the firing arc of an incoming TIE fighter, and went streaking towards the wreckage even before Lori started screaming into his earpiece. "Cap'n, Sensor feed's been lost, but visual scans show the bridge is intact. Keep your cool, don't let em get to you. Your ol' man's gonna be one hell of a target today."

Tin pulled hr fighter into a sharp barrel roll as the strange beam came from the Sith fleets, impacting against the CSA Resolute, "fuck me, I had to jinx it didn't I"? She was not familiar with what ever type of attack just hit the command ship, but judging from the way it listed and comm chatter that one blast took the craft out for the count.

"Commander, should we hang back and help with getting everyone off safely"? Her wing man hollered, most of the pilots unsure of how to act with their command structure knocked out for the moment. "... Half of your defend the ship, make sure no bombers get past, in the mean time I would request volunteers to join me on an attack run on that ship". Her focused at the Satarn, knowing full well such a artillery platform could take out their heavy hitters with ease.

"I know it sounds like a suicide run, but if that ships stays up it could wipe out most of our larger battleships, if that happens... well you could probably guess that it's game over". Tin expected the response to be somber, those that chose to go doing so out of duty not want, oh how wrong she was. "Sooo, all you are saying is that we have to dive and weave our way past the enemy fleet and take out that ship in the back away from the battle lines? sounds like fun". "Ditto to that, lets have some fun, can't stay back and just be all defense, lets push these guys out of our sector and back to Korriban".

"You guys are hopeless... whlep lets go, form up on me, keep it lose and scattered, don't let their point defense get you".

Wayke was right about the sensors, all transmitted data was gone, but they still had their own. If The Resolute fell, the liberation fleet could be routed. Tritus began cycling power through to the weapons and shields, more useful than some of the backup systems. The sensors pinged wildly as more fighters entered the fray, just like old times.

"I see it Wayke, we're still running our own though. Captain, we understand that your father is on board, but we can't sacrifice the mission. Concentrate your fire on bombers." He smiled slightly, he liked giving orders again, even if they were during a time of crisis. "Wayke, keep the ship near the breach in The Resolute, we cannot let them exploit that weakness any further." If needed, he'd contact the flagship directly, but for now that would be the best they could do.

"By order of the Vice Chancellor..." Admiral Stazi echoed in disbelief, before narrowing his eyes and clenching his fists, "Weapons stations! Lock target on the Republic's battle line, and prepare to fire on my mark."

"Sir?" Bashir stammered in alarm. The fall of the Galactic Alliance had made them all more ruthless, but this strained even his wavering moral line.

"You heard me, commander. When you stand with the Empire, you stand against us. Its that simple."

There was a heavy silence, the full weight of deadly tension resonated throughout the entire bridge crew. Mazik was the type of commanding officer who was more liable to toss troublemakers out of an airlock then endure the time consuming bureaucracy of arranging a court martial. He had personally executed every single one of Taeli Raaf's planted operatives after they had been subdued aboard the Hereafter at Fondor.

"Be that as it may, admiral," the Mon Calamari chose his words carefully, "We still have a Sith armada to contend with. They're right on top of us, and you're asking us to open a second front. Its suicide."

"I'm not asking," Stazi snarled, drawing his service blaster with a casual grace and aiming it at his first officer's chest, "Do it."

One remaining eye shining in defiance, Commander Bashir snapped rigidly to attention.

"No, sir."

His refusal hung there in the air, and for a while time seemed to stop on board the bridge of the Nemo's Revenge. The duros fleet admiral stood there on one end of the command dais pointing a Glie-44 at his closest friend and subordinate standing opposite the main holodisplay. Its muzzle piercing a transparent rendered star destroyer, Mazik's pistol gleamed as it caught the reflection of Commenor's sun outside the battlecruiser's main viewport. No one moved, until at last proximity sensor alarms began to sound and he glanced away from Bashir momentarily to examine a tactical readout.

The admiral's hands began to tremor ever so slightly, and his blaster started wobbling. Slamming his free hand into a nearby console so hard that sparks began to fly, he holstered his weapon and crossed his arms tightly.

"Very well, commander. Bring us about, staggered defensive formation. Scramble our fighter screens and inform the other captains we'll be prioritizing the Sith's lighter attack craft and support vessels."

"Aye, sir!" Bashir saluted, an unnecessary gesture with no bearing in bridge protocol but effective nonetheless in mending the breakdown in morale just enough for their crew to continue functioning adequately.

Brushing his way callously past the Mon Calamari on the way to personally oversee the weapons stations, Stazi muttered loud enough for his XO to hear, "Coward."

The Core Fleet was now spread out throughout Commenor's orbital web, each seeking out their own skirmishes with different slivers that made up the one giant mass which was the Sith Imperial armada. Those ships assigned to escort the Revenge soon found themselves folding into the flank of a Mon Calamari task force commanded by none other than the senior Alliance officer operating in Silver Jedi space. Although Admiral Kaloo's allegiances were now mixed, he was still one of the most experienced surviving sailors who had once worn GA colors. Whether or not Rick still saw himself as one of them, today they were nevertheless bonded by allegiance to a greater ideal, defiance against the tyranny of the Sith.

"Australis, this is Veiere Arenais" Veiere spoke into his personal Commlink, tapped into The CSA Resolute's Comm-Systems for synchronicity; "We're moving to Evac, the crew's going to head to the surface but Admiral Ansion and myself will head to you". There was literally no better option than to board the Mandalorian Super Star-destroyer for security and fire-power against the Saturn. "Hit that Sith Vessel with everything you've got, their armaments completely penetrated the Resolute's shields!" Veiere barked, he and the Admiral descending via the turbo-lifts to the private hangar meant for House Arenais and higher ranking officials.

He and Vikras would board The KingsGuard, though it had little offensive capabilities, the shields were high-grade and it would get them the distance with the aid of the Force and fate on their side. With Vikras Ansion in the lead, Veiere prioritized command over the fleet, rerouting his frequency to the other allied vessels hoping to get through to them all and let them know of the crew's survival, or atleast the officer's aboard the Resolute.

"This is Veiere Arenais to all Allied Vessels, The Resolute is down and the crew is evacuating. Admiral Ansion and I are en-route to board the Mandalorian Destroyer, focus all fire on the Sith Fleet. The Saturn has the capability to penetrate shields, take that vessel down before we lose anyone else!" it wasn't an order, it was a matter of sustainability for the attacking fleet and all who wished to survive the affair.

Reaching the Hangar was a challenge in and of itself with the Resolute's stabilizing thrusters losing power and the vessel turning slowly on it's side. With the shift of momentum, power failing, Veiere was forced to pry the Hangar doors apart with the power of the Force. "Vikras, fire her up!" Veiere asked with haste, his approach following in tow as the blast doors closed behind them.

Several decks below, the explosions could be heard as the bottom half of the Destroyer gave out. Force only knows how many lives had been taken as the hull had been torn open and the vacuum of space had ripped those poor souls from their stations and sucked out into the cold blanket of stars.

Heavy turbolaser fire rocked Morty's already strained shielding, with some of the explosion temporarily cutting through the protective layering and impacting the armor underneath.
The battle had only increased in intensity, with the Sith reinforcements furious at being cut off from the force they were supposed to reinforce engaging in point-blank broadsides with Mon Calamari determined to kill the Sith for what they had done to their homeworld. Single ship combat was the primary form of engagement, with Destroyers slamming their guns into other Destroyers until one hit the other so hard it could no longer fire back. Only Morty, with its Providence escorts, continued to provide a unified front against five Xo'xaan Destroyers that had rapidly established a V formation and began raining hell on the Mon Calamari flagship. The moment the Sith had consolidated, Rick ordered Morty and its escort force of two Providence-class light destroyers and three Twinkie-class light cruisers to charge forward, hoping to close the distance between the Sith.

At last, Morty lay only a single kilometer from the Sith Destroyer formation. Enticed by a desperate enemy, the Sith had begun putting the full capabilities of their Destroyers into their firepower, and Morty had felt their wrath. But Rick had much more planned than the Sith would want to believe.

"Bring all Tyrvald railguns online, and put three guns each on the two Destroyers right after the tip of the V formation." ordered Rick. "Open fire!"

giphy.gif
Essentially a space shotgun the size of a superheavy turbolaser, each Tyrvald turbolaser cannon was suitable for inflicting extreme damage at close range. At a kilometer and closing, the Sith would face the full power of not just one, but three Tyrvald turbolaser for each of the two targeted vessels.

In an instant, the Sith saw the shields of the two Destroyers fired apon drop faster than a bowling ball on Yavin. Overloaded, the shields opened up. The second wave of blasts tore a hole clean through the left Destroyer's hull, penetrating so far within that it came out the other side, making a hole that sucked up hundreds of unfortunate crew and effectively incapacitated the Sith vessel. The right Destroyer suffered an even worse fate, attracting the attention of the turbolasers of the two Providence destroyers as well. The combined blasts of the Tyrvalds and the heavy turbolasers of the Providences tore a hole all the way to the Destroyer's reactor core, and then imploded the ship in a single blast.

The Sith admiral, realizing his mistake too late, attempted a jump to hyperspace. However, the Mon Calamari did not need interdictors to block enemies from leaving an area. All six cannons fired at the Destroyer's bridge, creating such a focused area of such heavy damage that the shielding was penetrated and the bridge went up in flames, leaving the five Destroyers without a commander or coordination. Within minutes, the final two Destroyers, their horrified crews attempting a retreat, had been swiftly removed from further existence. The smoking Tyrvalds were then disabled, having taken a sizable portion of energy from Morty's reactor.

With the sudden elimination of the five Sith Star Destroyers in under ten minutes, the remaining Sith forces entered a state of nervousness, only emphasized as the Mon Calamari, boosted in morale, smashed through the lines of the distracted enemy. With jamming frequencies becoming weaker and weaker, Rick was finally able to send a comm out to the rest of the Commenor liberation force.

[This is Rick, Rick Kaloo of the Mon Calamari fleet. We intercepted the first wave of Sith reinforcements from near the system, consisting of about two dozen Destroyer-sized craft and countless smaller vessels. Despite taking casualties, I was able to inflict severe damage to the Sith fleet and morale, and most importantly, save all of you from dealing with a replenished Sith force. Our fleet is currently recovering and ready to come to anyone's assistance if needed.]

As a few new additions to Rick's fleet blipped on Morty's radar, he quickly came to realize from his days in the Alliance that the reinforcements to Rick's fleet were in fact Alliance vessels. Thinking of his past serving with the former superpower, and commanding some of the vessels on display himself, he let a brief grin appear on his face.

With the Resolute having been gutted by the shield-piercing beam weaponry of the Saturn, the ship's captain - having been hand-selected for his skill by Vanessa to helm this experimental vessel - soon ordered weapon modulation to begin on the Super Star Destroyer that was moving into position. Why Yasha had allowed the Mandalorians assisting the Commenori to bring a dreadnought-scale warship into the fray was unclear, but it was currently bearing down on the battleship, which was attempting to turn and bring its beam weaponry to bear. Unfortunately, it was not able to do such before the Never Again opened fire with its Daedalus Cannon.

The Saturn had been given the same structural upgrades as the Ablution. Her hull was multiple layers of ultra-tough molecularly bonded armor, and she had been given some of the most powerful shield generators that could be stuffed into her aging frame. Even then, her shielding was dropping at a consistent rate - by the time the Daedalus Cannon's shot had concluded firing, she was at five percent shield integrity, and soon charged up her secondary backup hyperdrive to make a quick getaway from the immediate battlefield, exiting the area and traveling a good two hundred kilometers out. The Saturn would begin to turn back towards the battlefield, preparing for another shock jump. For now, however, it waited.

For the fighter pilots, things were about to get particularly hostile. Supplementing the TIEs that were being released were several wings of Eightgun-class assault fighters, as well as Forge-class interceptors. The pilots of these ships were some of the elite of the Sith Empire, and had been specifically trained to work together - the Forges were intended to take on any enemies that tried to outmaneuver the Eightguns, while the Eightguns themselves were to sweep in and overwhelm enemy fighters with their eight xaser cannons. The Eightguns and Forges would soon start to sweep through the Commenori and allied fighter force, racking up kills in short order. Nothing could outmaneuver the Forges, and nothing was durable enough to survive the firepower of the Eightgun for very long. A pair of Eightguns working in concert with a pair of Forges would move to engage the Jaster's Sparrow, the former opening fire with their combined sixteen guns in a head on pass as the Forges followed at a safe distance behind, ready to snap back and come on the offensive once the pass had been performed.

As it currently stood, casualties for both Sith fleets in the system were significant. The 19th had lost over a third of its combat ships, while the 1st had lost somewhere around a quarter. The Maldrood irregulars, in fact, were the only unit to have not suffered any serious losses, their only casualty having been a Silencer that had fallen to the attacking Imperial force. The Silencer group would soon turn, jump in, and engage the Light's Hammer attack group, opening fire with their beam weapons on the Nemo's Revenge.

Tobias was looking out the window as one of the communications officers yelled across the bridge, "Vice Chancellor, the Alliance Fleet has primed weapons and locked onto Rear Admiral Georges Fleet."

He turned to look at the battle map, with an eye of anger and flames. How could not believe that they would do this kind of action just to get the revenge that they figured was owed to them. He was in such disbelief that he paused in his next move. It was at this time that the Admiral next to him started, "Inform the 1st fleet to defend themselves and-"

VC Dracks snapped out of it, "Belay that order, Commander," The Alliance was rash, but they were not stupid. Even with the possibility of destroying one enemy, they would have to open another front with their small navy as it were. Even the old GA Defense Fleet that was under his command would not help them as they were now loyal to the Republic. The Admiral attempted to try to sway Tobias, but it fell on deaf ears. "Inform the Rear Admiral to hold the line and attack the remnant of the left flank, that hole for reinforcements must be held and the Neutrality of the First Order must stand, this is Comm-"

The Strategic Navigational officer turned to face the commanders, "Sir, the Resolute has fallen silent."

Tobias only had seconds to respond to the situation, "Inform the 4th Fleet to send out fighters and transport, I want any survivors from the fleet to be protected on reentry, they will be aiming for home."

The Admiral ran opposite the Chancellor and to one of the other command officer, the same SN Officer tapped on his ear and looked up, "The Mandalorains are moving to help the Royals and their Command Crew, they survived."

He breathed a sigh of relief, but it was short lived as he only looked at the map to see the dire straights it was slowly turning into. Commenrians were no longer fighting for their freedom, it now relied on their allies. Meaning he would have to work with the people that nearly shot his men and could again with the King no longer able to pull them back. Looking at the map he could see, the Silvers were putting up a great fight on their objective. The Mandalorains were moving in to support the Commenorian Fleet, though they were breaking at the moment. Then there were the Republic and Alliance Fleets, crushing the Sith's Flank, the two fleets were crashing down on the weakened and overwhelmed defense fleet.

"Keep an eye on the Alliance Fleet, keep the 4th on stand-by, but continue to defend the Station," His eyes were locked on the Alliance Fleet, "We have to trust they will act rationally for the time being, but keep the pressure up to keep that whole open for the landing craft."

Despite the losses both sides were taking, the war on the surface of Commenor had well and truly begun. Troop drop ships continued to send and supply the growing warfront on the surface while Fighter and Interceptor squadrons gave overwatch. Even with the loss of the CSA Resolute, the objective of the mission was not lost on the good men and women of Commenor for their home-world was the very fight itself.

Both the King and Vikras Ansion has survived the loss of their vessel while escape pods burst from the side of the Resolute and rained down upon Commenor, those that were not rescued or intercepted by the allied fleet. Aboard the The KingsGuard, Veiere listened to the incoming reports while they were underway to board the Nu Draar Tug'yc (Not a name that Veiere bothered trying to pronounce. The KingsGuard had been a gift from his wife, the [member="Lady Kay"] Arenais, a fine vessel that Veiere had neglected of late due to his larger priorities in bringing together and organizing the rebel offensive against the Sith Empire. With the help of Commenor's allies, the battle was slowly being won, and he knew that he'd not have been able to achieve so much so quickly without Commenor's neighbors on their side.

"This is Admiral Ansion, aboard the KingsGuard to all Commenori Vessels. Focus fire on that Sith Vessel (The Saturn), I want their armaments offline!" Vikras was taking the loss of the Resolute rather personally, it was a vessel that Veiere himself had commissioned to build for the representation of House Arenais and the eventual over-turn of Commenor. For Veiere, the ship itself was just a tool that had served its purpose in reaching the front and bringing to Commenor a force ready and willing to remove their Sith Visitors, but for Vikras, it symbolized the might of the former fleet of the Systems Alliance for which he served with distinction for a great many years.

Patching himself through to [member="Loreena Arenais"] ship, The Jaster's Sparrow, Veiere spoke directly. "Lori, it's Dad. I'm headed for the Mandalorian Flagship. The Resolute's gone but this fight's not over. Your brother's headed for the Capital, maybe it's time you and your crew joined them on the surface...".

Lori's youth an inexperience both in life and battle showed itself in this moment. Here she was watching as her Dad's ship was torn in half and all that she had wanted to do was to go there, fight everyone off and bring him to safety.

Yet her crew were more sensible. Her crew had more experience than she did. Both [member="Orrico Wayke"] and [member="Tirtus Vex"] were older than her and perhaps even wiser too. And for that she was thankful. Yet her heart still pounded in her ears, as she waited for the next victim to come into her line of sight so that she could destroy them. Her emotions fueled her as she tried to cast aside any thoughts of her Dad's body floating around in space.

"I'll be fine...I'll be fine! Just...just get us to where we could help--" Her voice was cut off as the voice of [member="Veiere Arenais"] came over the comms. Lori's breathing stopped. Her Dad WAS alive!! And he was going to get to safety! All that she had to do now was protect--

That thought was cut off as her Dad continued to speak. He was telling her to get to the surface?? With [member="Caedyn Arenais"] ? What for? So that her brother could protect her while he got to go off and be heroic? But the battle was still taking place in orbit. Who knows what it was like on the ground. Why couldn't she go with him to the Mando ship? She knows them more and trusts them more than he does anyways...

"What are our odds with each option? Staying here and continuing the fight, or following my Dad's orders?" Lori wanted to at least attempt to be logical.

Alliance Core Fleet
"Reports throughout the fleet, we're scoring solid kills on the Sith armada."

"At too high a price," Mazik growled. It was not sentimentality that pained him, but the knowledge that every ship they had left now might as well be worth an entire Sith task force, "We gain nothing from meeting them head on. Order our cruisers to pull back, we'll use our maneuverability to outrange their destroyers and whittle down whatever smaller craft try to give chase."

If the earlier breakdown in chain of command had not robbed them of the opportunity to properly prepare for their enemy's advance, Admiral Stazi likely would have ordered a strafing mission, but as it was they would have to settle for an unceremonious tactical withdrawal. The duros made sure his navigators plotted a course directly away from forces under the command of [member="Rick Kaloo"]. With any luck, the Sith commanders might mistake this for a full route and attempt to seize a position on Kaloo's flank. It would put Alliance forces in the perfect position to establish a crossfire.

"Tracking a disturbance on sensors," Commander Bashir relayed, uncertainty evident in his voice.

Mazik believed he had accounted for every variable, but when a battlegroup of Silencer dreadnoughts jumped into plain view from it was a most unwelcome surprise. The Revenge's bridge exploded into action immediately, junior officers dashed to and from different stations as reports flooded in of exponential energy buildups radiating off of what appeared to be massive primary weapon housings. Explanations were demanded, and proposals for evasive maneuver trajectories were hastily assembled until Stazi's voice cut through the commotion like a clarion call back to disciplined order.

"Reroute all power to shield systems, bring us around to face them!" he roared, gesticulating wildly to motivate a more frenzied pace, "Begin emergency AIAS activation procedures!"

"Sir, that's still going to take some time," Bashir resisted the impulse to add 'those procedures are untested and potentially dangerous', he had challenged his superior's authority quite enough for one day.

"So will those dreadnoughts!"

"It's going to be close..." they both monitored the startup protocols with deep concern, the array was rated to activate after thirty seconds but it was standard procedure to double and triple check the energy readings, particularly in the midst of battle, "Sir, its too late! They're opening fire!"

"Oh yee of little faith," Mazik chided, but flickers of self doubt were becoming evident even on his normally resolute features.

Each dreadnought launched a devastating energy barrage, quickly overwhelming the Revenge's primary deflector shields and beginning to score through its outer hull, venting whole decks amidships and sending a chain reaction of explosions that launched nearly everyone on the command deck who wasn't strapped down off their feet. Consoles exploded, crewmen shrieked in pain all around him. And then, seemingly all at once, the violent shaking stopped. Emergency lighting flashed overhead, bathing the entire bridge in a crimson hue, and a damaged central holodisplay flickered intermittently as it continued to render the battlefield in orbit of Commenor.

"AIAS array is...online!" a bleeding Bashir announced at last, and a ragged cheer erupted throughout the room. At the eleventh hour, the flagship of the Alliance had been saved.

"Damage report!" Stazi cried out, limping slightly after a tumble halfway across the bridge but otherwise apparently unharmed, "I want a list of effected systems and repair teams deployed immediately!"

He ordered their heavy cruisers to remain under the protective superdense deflector bubble, but the attack group's attack vessels and fighter screens were given attack missions to engage the Silencer dreadnoughts with a primary aim of disabling their main cannons if it was not possible to scuttle the star destroyers outright. Transmissions were also dispatched to two of the closest Core Fleet attack groups, notifying their commanding officers that reinforcements were required on the fleet admiral's position.

"Target their escape pods," he added once he was finished briefing his senior staff, "The enemy shows no mercy, and so neither must we."

Attack Group Light's Hammer

Summary of Actions
  • Attack Group begins to retreat from close quarters weapons range on a course parallel to Task Force Mon Calamari, harassing faster Sith attack vessels as they retreat.
  • 1 Dirigible-class Corvette is destroyed. Hammerhead Corvette takes moderate hull damage, Nebulon-D Escort Frigate and CR112 Corvette take light hull damage. MC42 Star Cruiser takes moderate shield damage.
  • After detecting arrival of Maldrood Irregulars, Nemo's Revenge begins charging its AIAS shield array as the dreadnoughts prepare to open fire.
  • Dreadnought heavy beam weapons overwhelm Revenge's primary deflectors and inflict considerable hull damage before AIAS shield perimeter activates, absorbing the remaining blast force.
  • Scythe Heavy Cruiser, Quasar Fire and CR-37 carriers remain under protective AIAS barrier, while all other craft join attack group squadrons in an attack run on Maldrood Irregulars.
  • Reinforcements are requested from other Core Fleet positions in system.

Orrico spun the ship in a spiraling roll to combat the inbound barrage from the gunboats. "Brace!" he called out, slipping between them, and slamming the Sparrow into the hull of one of the two escorting interceptors. Immediately, he slammed the thrusters into reverse, almost as if he knew that the second interceptor would attempt to curve back on them. As the other pilot scrambled to readjust, Orrico discharged the Lightning Gun mounted to the ship's nose, enveloping it in a deadly array of sparks.

He brought the ship back up to speed, course adjusted for the Mandalorian flagship. He altered course slightly a second time as the Mando reinforcements began to appear around them, opening fire on the various small fighters in the area. He turned to [member="Tirtus Vex"] and said, "Should have warned you about that maneuver there, sorry. Too good an opportunity to pass up." He fell silent as the broadcast from Lori's dad played, and Lori's resulting inquiry was posed. He reached up to the switches above him, and began configuring the controls for atmosphere. "Commanding Officer of this theater has given orders to ground this bird, lil' lady. Odds are we stay up here and he'll kick your ass. Assuming we all survive."

Right as the Mon Calamari prepared to shake off their wounds and point their guns at the Sith blockade force, another threat emerged.
Six Sith ships of Star Destroyer size with massive frontal guns had appeared behind his fellow Alliance forces, inflicting heavy damages on their flagship. However, in their malice, the Sith commanders had forgotten one important aspect of the battle. Rick's fleet. Without any pressure on them from enemy firepower, they freely tilted to the side and locked their weapons on the new arrivals. Then, the approximately thirty remaining ships of Rick's fleet, including a regenerated Morty, unleashed full broadsides on the Sith's frontal armor.

At the same time, X-Wings, A-Wings, Y-Wings, B-Wings and K-Wings exited the hangars of the Endurance fleet carriers at record speed and quantity, a patchwork of dozens of squadrons all pursuing the enemy, unhindered by intercepting TIE forces for the moment. Already, Rick knew he had a vast advantage in firepower and shields to most of the Sith present, and reaped such benefits to their full extent. However, his next action was much more shocking.

Rick stood up from his custom-made command chair and walked out of the bridge of Morty in an eerie silence that soon contaminated the entire area.

"I'm taking a ground force down to Commenor, where my abilities as a Jedi can be used the best." he finally uttered. "Command of the fleet is assumed to Captain Seth. Don't disappoint me."

Then, he stepped into a nearby elevator and dialed to the ground floor.

GCV Solvognen
Command Deck

There was a moment, as the hololithic scene transpired before him, that Khonsu found himself amused by the proceedings of this liberation. The New Republic and the Alliance-in-Exile were a hair’s breadth away from clawing at one another’s throats, over the actions of the First Order - who were only in the system because of the personnel stationed at their surface-bound Embassy. The Thyrsian wished for them to bloody their swords as they fought over a common foe, as that would allow his men to sweep in and feast upon the spoils. As it stood, the Sith Empire was paying a hefty bounty for warships and scalps that belonged to those who escaped their government’s dissolution and forced exile. While it was unsure where they stood in regards to the New Republic, it was likely a similar offer could’ve been made with little financial loss made on either side. Those facts alone made it almost too tempting to abandon their oaths of service to the Mandalorians. However, there was a bounty that was far greater than those of the Alliance and the Republic that the Twisuns Praetor could not turn down; and that was the bounty of a debt long unsettled.

The Sun Guard had once found themselves in the employ of the First Order before they had traversed the stars to find their riches amongst the Sith Empire. It was within the bounds of their First-Imperial contract that they fought against the Galactic Alliance and those that rallied to their banners. Despite their myriad successes on the battlefield, it seemed that Central Command deemed their price was too steep for what they offered - and neglected to fulfill their ends of the bargain on multiple occasions. While this was accepted by the former Twisuns Praetor, that bill came due when Khonsu’s sword severed his predecessor’s skull from his gilded shoulders. No longer would they stand idle whilst their blood paid for the riches of foreign soil; nor would they allow their arrears to rise. The Golden Company had a reputation to uphold, as a cut-throat organization of mercenaries.

Who would hire them if they merely racked up the debt, and never sent an envoy around to collect their dues?

It was madness. Sheer, and utter madness. Therefore, Khonsu was swift to implement several changes in his Legions that would permit them to raid and pillage their former employers if the contract was nullified without notice. If these cretins wouldn’t pay? Extract from them what is owed, and teach them never to mess with the Sun Guard. Those were his words, and thus the opportunity presented itself in a way that he couldn’t deny his men their vengeance. Let the others fight against the forces of the Sith Empire, and free their pitiful world from the meagre forces that found themselves within the sector; the Thyrsian’s would stalk their newfound prey and slide the point of their knife between distracted ribs.

Without so much as a whisper, save for the near-silent purr of his armour’s active armour joints, the Twisuns praetor rose from his command throne and swung a gilded gauntlet towards the frigate’s helm.

“Align the Solvognen with the First Order’s formation,” He began, before shifting his gaze and subsequent commands to the various section heads who craned their necks at their respective stations. “I want our solar weapons primed, and the mirror shields prepared to repel enemy bombardment.”

“Yes, sire!” They replied in staggered unison.

“Deflectors are cycled and running hot!” one of the officers called out seconds later, followed by an unbidden report that indicated the accumulation of lethality brewing within their solar cannons. This was further enhanced by the secondary callouts from the myriad of communications officers that transmitted, and interpreted the dozens of tight-beam transmissions that bounced from one Thyrsian vessel to another. While it was less effective and slightly more time-consuming than direct channels, such methods allowed the Warships of the Golden Company to move without fear of eavesdropping enemies; unless they were directly within line of sight of the transmission. It wasn’t long after that the first communique was sent that one of the command staff turned towards their Praetor and informed him of the taskforce’s readiness level; letting him know that the in-cohesive collection of warships were at optimal combat readiness.

They were still quite a ways out, and wouldn’t be able to intercept the First Order’s transports as they made the break from the surface - but instead, the Golden Company would fall upon them with such vital cargo in their holds. So many fresh slaves and captives awaited them, and each starship held the promise of credits worth of information and pilfered scrap. However, the only thing that would seemingly stem the font of new plunder would be the forces of the New Republic - that had placed themselves between the Alliance and the First Order. While there was an avenue in which they could approach relatively unmolested - it was likely that their battlecruisers would turn about and seek to scatter their ashes across the astral planes. But, in doing that, they would expose their flanks to the enemy battleships - which would doubtlessly inflict thousands of unnecessary casualties. That meant they would have a choice to make, and whatever path they chose to follow would spell death for one side or another.

As his thoughts crept along that line, an insidious - almost serpentine smile painted his lips.

“It won’t be long now,” His forked tongue whispered. “These First-Imperials shall pay their dues with their cargo, or their lives.”

-- The Battle in the skies were given the Republic a run for their money, and the Vice Chancellor knew it. Unlike the 4th Fleet that were battlehardened through their service to the Galactic Alliance, the 1st Fleet had only ever had to deal with Hutt and Criminals that raided. Fighting to the death was never their style and he was seeing that now. They were strong in their attempts, holding the line for as long as they could, and fighting as hard as any soldier. However, he could see that the Sith Fleet was just more experience in this kind of combat, and their fanatic level loyalty showed it. If they were alone and did not have the support of the Silvers or Alliance to keep the pressure, the New Republic would conclude with a draw at best.

-- Tobias looked over the battle, "Inform the Rear Admiral to have the shield corvettes take the brunt of the attack, do not waist the ships or our advantage for a faint by the enemy, they are skilled and we must stay on our guard if we are to secure any of these ships from escaping."

-- The space station was relaying orders when the enemy reinforcement began to enter the system. It was lucky that they arrived in the deep space and not near the moon otherwise the 4th Fleet would have been there to engage them. It was still to risky to leave the station undefended as they were still transporting supplies and soldiers to the surface of the planet.

-- The Admiral stood at the ready, "Chancellor, our fighters are still engaging the Sith Fleets protecting the Commenorian escape pods, we can not engage those newly arrives ships, we must keep our focus on the current flank of the Sith Fleets."

-- He agreed, nodding, "Have the advance shields protect the fleet and have the fighters and bombers strengthen their attacks on the enemy, be sure to aim for their hyperdrive bays to disable any capability to leave the field of battle."

-- One of the navigational officers turned to face the officers on the bridge, "Chancellor, Admiral, a new fleet has arrived in system, however, they do not seem like Imperial Vessels they show a direct route to the First Order Fleet."

-- This was odd, did the First Imperial call in backup for Mercs? It really did not matter to him that much, their intentions were still unknown and they were approaching the only available landing route to the planet that was not blockaded by the Sith. "Ensign, open a channel to them." They did so and opened a clear channel to the newly arrived ships, "Unidentifiable vessels enter the Commenorian System, you are crossing into New Republic Protected Conflict Zones, state your business or risk being detained by New Republic Forces," He paused as he waited then spoke again, "Repeat Unidentifiable Vessels, state your intent and/or allegiance or we will declare you hostile and take immediate actions."

  • Military Station attempts to hail the Golden Company Fleet.

Captain Manfreid von Dönitz
Objective: Finish Transporting First Order Personal

"Chase the Wind on a Windy Day."

Transports slowly returned back into The Nadette, where First Order Marines and personnel hurriedly rushed all those with injuries or in need of medical attention to the Med Bay and rest into the cabins to regain some notion of safety and security. Just as quickly as one Transport emptied the Pilot pushed the craft back down to the Embassy and pick those still on the surface up.

Captain Manfreid remained on the bridge and nodded approvingly of the speed and efficiency of his men, their evacuation would be completed in only a few minutes should no complication arise. Of course, the Galaxy always enjoyed to make life complex and Captain Manfreid debated internally of the situation that grew into a much larger and deadly problem than he had originally planned.

The Colonel had asked for transport ships to remain in system for hopes of extracting all First Order military personal and other elements of the First Order that the Captain had not been privileged towards becoming enlightened. Regardless, it appears that the Captain needed to express the urgency and true danger of the situation to the Colonel. Captain Manfreid approached the bridge's view port and noted how the conflict had not improved in the slightest. For either side.

The Comm Officer explained to his Captain that several new messages had been sent but the most particular had been one sent from the Sith Imperial Fleet. The Sith Fleet had asked for assistance from the First Order vessels not engaged in combat to provide perhaps any measure of token relief for any and all Sith forces nearby. Captain Manfreid twitched once as he ordered a message to relay that Captain Manfreid von Döntiz would not in fact commit any of his vessels into any combat engagement. Captain Manfreid was in fact only here for the evacuation and transportation of First Order Civilians and Diplomats from Commenor.

"Keep both Aleandra and Alyosha in steady formation, while both of our light cruisers begin to turn towards open space with the Republic Fleet in between us and everyone else. Once we have secured everyone from the Embassy we shall follow with the rest of Eight First." Captain Manfreid ordered, his plans laid out to his bridge as orders were sent out to the rest of the battle group.

Captain Manfreid knew the limitations of his small fleet, so it was clear that success for his mission needed to be redefined. His Heavy Cruisers would act as perfect vanguard units with the Republic Fleet close to support and with the support of the eight corvettes it should prove plenty cover. The time afforded from his other ships would give Captain Manfreid more time to secure those from the Embassy after all, his mission was the upmost security and safety of First Order civilians and officials.
