Standardization of Skyhooks, Space Stations, and the Factory / Codex conundrum

[member="Cira"]

If you check out the WIP template I'm suggesting changing stations to match starships for dev.

What dev do we feel is suitable for, let's say, a 10km civilian station at minor production?

I'm thinking that all civilian stations over say 5km should be unique and tailored to the location they're being made for.

We don't need to go overboard, so how about 20 posts per 2000m metres? 100 posts for your 10km station above isn't terrible.

5. Space Stations at or above 1,000 meters will always require a development thread. Minimum: 40 posts, 3-4 writers

Then would the 20 posts per 2000m be in addition to the current standard?

Civilian stations should get more leeway as they're almost entirely for RP purposes.

10 posts per 1000m is pretty fair I think, especially if we cap it say at 100 for 10,000+. Stations that large do exist in canon, and it's naturally the prerogative of the factory judge to cut down the size if they are getting excessive in the submission.

General Rules

1. An individual character may not own a ship greater than 400 meters in length. Ships over 400 meters must be owned by a Faction (Major or Minor), and may be captained by the character, but in case of leaving will not go with them without exceptional circumstances and faction administrator approval.

2. Ships and stations at or above 1,000 meters will always require a development thread. Minimum: 10 posts, 1 writer.

3. Ships and stations at or above 1,700 meters will always require a development thread. Minimum: 20 posts, 2 writers.

4. Ships and stations at or above 2,400 meters will always require a development thread. Minimum: 30 posts, 3 writers.

6. Civilian space stations over 3,000 metres will always require a development thread. Minimum: 30 posts +10 posts for every additional 1,000 meters over 3,000m (Max 10,000m), 3 writers.

5. For ships over 3,000 meters, see the Flagship Rules

May want to put in that ships over 400m can be owned by companies too.

That would be a yes.

With this new format, it allows folk to get their stations, sub them, and then be able to do what they want at Codex.

The only issue would be if someone wants to make something beyond 10k.. but ... that would be super rare.

Obvs a case by case basis.

I think all stations should indeed go through the factory.

I'm a little uncertain about how big a dev thread you need for unarmed canon sized space stations. Perhaps halve the dev thread requirement provided the station is below 5 armament?

Otherwise, looks fine.
