Star Wars: Battlefront

So ugh, my first impressions. It's pretty, that's about it. I want space, I want decent maps, decent sized teams. Hell, Battlefront II on the PC had 150 vs 150, I just want like 50 vs 50. I don't care about graphics, I want gameplay.

It's not bad though, I can live with it as a game. It's battlefield starwarsed.

I hate to say it but I am disappointed in this one. I know that it's not supposed to be like a remake of the original Battlefront games, but at least make it more than a Call of Duty with Star Wars skins and DLC "expansions" that cost almost as much as the original game itself. Nice going EA and DICE. I was hoping that the beta was just a small taste, not a full slice of the pie.

If you love it, that's great, but for me, well, this will probably something that me and my friends will attempt and fail to play splitscreen on during the weekends.

I am mixed on the one hand it gives exactly what the beta showed on the other it gives exactly what the beta showed.... and I have spent more then enough on games this months. I can't and don't want to buy it again for the expansions and dlc. The early access to a grenade I had hoped was a joke but it will be something to be there on the shelf. Got Tomb Raider, Black Ops and Fallout 4 to occupy

As far as Battlefront goes...

I find the game is entertaining to play, yet doesn't hold my attention for too long (unless I'm sinking a few beers). Walker Assault is a great mode to play, same as the Starfighter mode but the others I'd argue don't even need to be there, considering what little they offer in differences. While this is a game I enjoy playing and I'm glad that I've purchased being such a fan of Star Wars like so many of us are; I'm not completely sold on it. I was quite excited for the release and while it hasn't entirely disappointed, it certainly hasn't blown me away.

The Graphics are amazing, the authenticity and immersion to the Star Wars universe is great, the sounds, wow. But it's just lacking on the game mechanics end of things. It's taken a step backward when you consider games like Battlefield 4 and where it jumped ahead of battlefield 3 with the level destruction, the number of players and the map sizes. Battlefront has also taken short cuts where the weapon choices are concerned. I really don't feel like there's enough there to make my player any more unique than anyone else in the game, almost regardless of level, I'm rarely surprised by the layout of another players cards and setup.

Overall: I would suggest to the avid fan that this is a game worth buying though given the other recent releases, perhaps this would be the one to wait for, let it sink in price and then pick it up in the future. The DLC (Season Pass) is ridiculously priced too. It's cheaper than Battlefield's PREMIUM service yet again, I've seen to little to convince me to pay the $70.00 NZD they're asking.

I like the game, but I'm not over the moon about it. It's fun, but it could've been F&$#ing amazing...

Game is nice in terms of graphics. However it's just like Battlefield with Star Wars skins. The lack of single player campaign is a disappointment. At least Battlefield had that. So playing more of Fallout 4 now. Would love to play the new Tombaider game. I like the Lara Croft character, but it comes out on PC early next year. I got a powerful PC, 2 actually, a PS3 and a PS4 but no XBONE. Cursing it's only on XBONE for now :-( .

I think that is a bit of a false comparison. Yes, they're both shooters, but Battlefield features waaaay more vehicle play. I'm actually rather disappointed by the dearth of vehicles in Battlefront. Like you've got some fighters and AT-STs that's it unless you play Walker Assault. I guess you've got the speeder bikes on Endor but eh.

The maps also feel much more condensed that Battlefield. They're certainly large but the gameplay focuses in on smaller locals. Even Supremacy isolates the action into a few spots and does not feature trying to control multiple zones at once. Droid whatever does, but that's even played on the smaller maps.

All around, I just don't see it as an apt comparison when you actually get into the contents of the game. It works on a surface level, but when you deal with surface data all sorts of comparisons can be completely off base.

I haven't played Battleftont enough more due to disappointment. As I do play it more however, I can see that your analysis is quite accurate indeed. :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not thrilled with the game but it isn't that bad. I just wish it was more. It feels right. It looks right. It plays right. It just leaves me wanting more.

This game is a giant rip off where EA uses Star Wars to get you to buy an incomplete game that's is lacking in content and even basic substance. Don't buy this game, don't support EA because the 2005 version had more content and fun and actual tactics than this steaming pile of crap. 60 bucks to for an incomplete game and an extra 50 to make it a tiny bit less incomplete. Fuck you EA
