Surgical Precision [Taking Borosk: Mandalorians]

borosk.jpg

Two Resol'nare ships glided amidst the Mandalorian fleet as it approached Borosk, waiting for the opportune moment to disappear. At the helm of one, her face concealed by her armour, Mia prepared herself for her final battle among her brothers. She was fighting for this planet, because she had pushed the Bear down this course in the first place, she would finish what she started, then she would leave.

The sensors began to shout as the planetary defences of Borosk turned it's attention to the oncoming fleet. Smiling to herself she opened a comm. "This is Res 1, final check in. Res 2, follow my lead. Good hunting vods. Going dark."

"The plan is simple" she said as she moved round the floating hologram of the planet. "The generator for the planetary shields is located here, the control centre for the batteries is here. Two small teams take BR-0117's and slip through the defences, the cloaking system should keep us from detection..."

Even with the ship cloaked Mia was force to weave among the oncoming fire. An ion blast came dangerously close and she let out a small laugh "Nothing like cutting it close." she muttered. The planetary shield flickered and dropped as fighter streamed from the planets surface to meet the fleet. Pushing the ship hard she weaved between oncoming fighters, slipping through the shield before it came back up.

"@[member="Verz Horak"] , @[member="Dred Varad"] and @[member="Caedo Kel"] you with my in Res 1, we'll take out the shields. @[member="Rach Kol-Rekali"] , @A'den ,@RC 212 and @[member="Jorn Mair"] you take Res 2 and deal with the control centre. @Alleria Nakamura I need you to be front and centre where the hostiles can see you, the more they focus on you the less likely they are to us...."

"Hot landing zone!" she shouted to her team "Some one get on those guns and clear some space for me!" She opened a comm to Res 2 "Res 2, we are about to land, go play with that control centre and make it quick. See if you can take some of the heat off our new Manda'lor."

"...The rest of you will be in the air with Alleria, once the shields are down is down to you to mop up. Any questions? No? Good. Oya!"

[OOC: Make sure you tag your team when you post! If you don't want to be where I've assigned you say so and I can change it. If I missed you, its nothing personal there just so many of you I can never remember all of you!]

There'd been a time when Rach flew transports through the wonder and terror of the Unknown Regions, and he could still fly pretty fething well, so he took the controls of the second Resol'nare.

He slipped the cloaked vessel through the temporary gap in the planetary shields. Borosk had a history as a minor fortress world, both in ancient times and in the day of the Imperial Remnant. Before it collapsed and the Sith Empire took over. He'd actually been there at Gravlex Med, that clustercuss of conflicting yet somehow allied and theoretically unified Empires. Now Borosk, Yaga Minor and even Bastion itself, all Omni-thrashed, were owned by various Imperial warlords.

Borosk had weapons, Borosk had shields, Borosk had a fething ion minefield that made him very glad to be flying a stygium-cloaked starship.

"All right, boys, let's hit this place. A planet this big and this militarized will have a ton of possible rerouting locations for turbolaser command; they'll adjust and keep firing. This is more of a symbolic strike, a terror move. We show them we can appear out of nowhere -- and we pray to the Infant of Shaa that they're not paying close attention to a crystal gravfield trap."

He slipped between a couple of outgoing squadrons and punched it. The cloaked Resol'nare skidded across the Borosk skyline, underneath the planetary shield.

"And there it is. Considering your history with explosives, A'den, I'm going to set the ship down on the roof of that parking garage, rather than park our ride anywhere near the building we're here to destroy. We'll have to use jetpacks to jump from the top of the parking garage to the top of the control centre."

The cloaked ship landed on top of the parking garage; asphalt dimpled ominously, but it held. Rach locked the ship down and left the cloak up.

"Someone needs to stay up here for sniper overwatch and to watch the ship. I packed a seventy-pound-pull compound bow and explosive arrows, and I can take the job -- anyone else a dedicated sniper? Or will you let me take overwatch while the rest of you make the jump by jetpack?"

The beauty of battle. Both horrible and humbling in it's grandeur. Cannon fire raced past the Resolnare class gunship and the Mandos within. The team's task was simple fight their way to the generator powering the planetary defense section the fleet was closest to and disable it. The atmosphere whistled against the hull of their transport, piloted by Mia. He had his standard rifle, but slung it across his back whwn she called out a hot landing. He quickly moved to the console for the weapon system, firing the blaster cannons at enemy ground forces. The enemy had old weapons, from before the Darkness. Ancient Imperial armor and blasters were the norm it seemed.

With his HUD linked to the targeting system, Verz had the view the targeting computer did. He spotted enemy troops with anti-air launchers. A quick taps at the console and four blaster cannon bolts struck home, killing several foes and stopping them from launching missiles at the gunship he and his vode were traveling in. He continued to fire, quickly and efficiency eliminating the enemy forces around the LZ.

With the LZ clear, he stepped back from the console, disconnecting his HUD from the system. The gunship landed, and Verz was the first to jump out. He believed an officer should always be at the front, facing the same danger his or her troops faced. No armchair general osik for him. He raised his rifle, looking at the charred earth and churned soil resulting from his bombardment. Humbling, how much destruction could be done so easily. "It's clear! No hostiles detected!"

RC unslung his Mandalorian assault rifle and pulled the charging handle, locking in a round of blaster bolts. From his position here he could see the command center. It was an estimated two hundred meters away. Around it a fortress complex of durasteel walls, complete with turbolaser emplacements loomed. It was going to be a bit of a challenge.
"I'll spearhead the assault. Watch my six." RC said.
He fired up his jetpack and corkscrewed straight up into the air. From his high vantage point RC could see the battle raging below. The Imperial warlords forces were quickly mobilizing. The ominous silhouettes of stormtroopers flooded the walls. RC flew level speeding ahead. At this altitude it would be hard to target him. As he he neared the command center blaster fire began to rip the air around him apart.

"Were taking heavy fire!" RC roared.

He leaned side to side like a Twilek dancer dodging streams of laser bolts. Just as he was about to descend a bolt brushed his pauldron. Burning sensation filled his body and his muscles screamed. RC gritted his teethe as he spun by the force of the bolt. The armor was singed fused with flesh and he screamed a curse in pain.
Red filled RC's vision. Pure adrenaline and blood lust took over his brain, erasing everything. Time slowed and RC tilted himself downwards towards the control center dome. There was fifty meters to close. RC pushed his jetpack, burning the fuel at an alarming rate as he sped like a laser straight down onto the unsuspecting command center.

Jorn flew his new ship out and followed the Dark Jedi Mando. He smiled as he gunned the engines with a loud rumble. "OOOOHHH YEAH!" He said as they flew through the stars. He landed down with Rach Kol-Rekali and was asked if anyone would stay. He nodded his head at him through his helmet "Ill stay here. Ive been close to A'dens grenades and it was not a pleasant feeling." Jorn went back to his ship and grabbed a Verpine Shatter sniper rifle. He carried it to where Rach was and looked at him. "Will this do, or will I need something else?"

Jorn had thought that he would stay back behind lines for this battle instead of being up close with his Angel blade and pistols. He replaced his Assault rifle with this sniper. it was fairly decent and had a adjustable 10X zoom on the scope. Maybe with this he could hit Borosk from very far away with a good round to the head or to the heart.

Rach looked back and forth from the railgun sniper rifle to his own bow, then shrugged and strapped the quiver to his thigh. "Watch the ship. Don't let it get keyed."

His jetpack engaged, and he rocketed after RC212. In midair, he drew an arrow and pulled back against the torrential wind, stabilizing himself with the Dark Side of the Force. An explosive arrow lanced out and struck the command centre's dome, right before RC 212 crashed into it.

"Hey look," he said over his comm, "I made you a door."

A stray bolt slapped the bow from his hands. As stormtrooper fire filled the air, he tumbled from the sky and passed through the new entryway feet-first. His jetpack engaged again at the last instant, and his flamethrower sprayed the room.

Mia spun from the piloting seat, snatching up her blaster rifle and an explosive she leapt out of the ship after the others and disappeared underneath it for a moment and she attached the explosives to the base of the ship, setting a timer on it sheslid her rfiel into ins holster on her back and headed away from her landing spot, beckoning the others to follow. The generator was three blocks away and while she could have parked closer, it made no sense to draw attention to their plan.

Rach and his team would provide on distraction, the other would be their ship. Uncloaked it screamed for attention. "Let's move." she said as she led the way down an alley taking them out of sight of any troopers. "Step light, and keep your eyes open. If you need to kill someone. do it quietly."

One block down and RES 1 exploded behind them.

The Bard, meanwhile, sipped claret from the Moff's private stocks. His spacer's boots shifted on the Moff's desk, depositing scratches and streaks of oil and hyperdrive coolant.

The Moff was not, as yet, here. He was coordinating his defenses and his advisors. There was no reason to suspect His Excellency would return to this office anytime soon.

Except, of course, for the odd reading on the sonic servodriver every time it pointed at the bottom right drawer of the desk. It whistled and hummed.

A lock clicked open, and the Bard's chair fell over.

RC dropped through the hole right behind Rach and collapsed into a roll. As he sprang up off his shoulder he back-flipped to his feet leveling his assault rifle and landing in a crouch. Flames engulfed the opposite side of the command center but imperial officers scrambled to draw their pistols. RC squeezed his trigger unloading torrent of triangle patterned fire into their chests. Bolts raced past his head and he ducked.
Several of the officers lay dead on the floor. One got bold and rushed forwards firing violently at the Mando'ad. RC waited counting the seconds then sprang up.
"AAAARGGGHHH!"

RC thrust the weapon forwards sinking his bayonet deep into the Imperials chest. The man screamed as crimson blood sprayed in an arc making the deck slick. RC twisted reveling in his death cry and then pulled up slicing the officer straight up the chest and watching his entrails spill.
The second and third officer providing cover fire grimaced and froze in terror at the sight of RCs beskar'gam clad figure covered in blood.
RC dropped the rifle and drew his twin Verpine shatter guns from their holsters. He leveled them at the officers head and let loose a double tap

CRUNCH! The slugs hit with a sickening sound and the officers heads exploded in a shower of skull and brain particles.
"Lock down the doors Rach!" RC screamed
"Im going for the control panels!"

When the two began the fight he fired a few shots at the men in the room through the windows. He aimed nicely shooting some in the head making blood spatter on the walls behind them. there were a few that he shot in the chest leaving them to fall to the ground. He reloaded his rifle to see that some were coming from a different building towards them. They rushed out and towards him. Jorn quickly reloaded and fired on them taking all but two out. They got to him by the time he unloaded the rifle. With the but he slammed it into one of them knocking him out.

Jorn dodged the shots fired at him. one hit him square in the chest but his armor protected him from it. Jorn ran over to him and slammed his fist into the mans face. he tied both of them up and put them next to the ship. maybe they could be used to be interrogated. Jorn reloaded his rifle and saw the doors being closed.

So blowing up their transport was the other distraction Mia mentioned? Great. Just great. As much as Verz liked HE ordinance, that seemed a bit excessive. "You know Mia, if we need to get outta her in a hurry, we're fethed, right?"

He walked side by side with her, blaster ready to fire at any stormtrooper wannabies that appeared. They would either submit or die. That was the choice offered to them, and they chose to resist. So, the Mandalorians must be conquerors once more, forcing their foes to bow, expanding as their ancestors had. Once more inspiring fear in all that heard their name or saw their fleets. They would become a great power once more, strong enough to rival the Republic, strong enough to crush any foe with ease.

Rach flung out his hands, and the explosive arrows ripped themselves from the quiver on his thigh. All manner of Imperial soldiers died. Horribly. He gestured and the door controls blinked. The power doors shut.

And the power died, all around them. Rach's hands clenched and unclenched. "Feth. Feth Imperial procedure. They shut us down and rerouted control somewhere else. So much for turning the guns against them -- but that was nothing more than a pipe dream. Well, frell it. We shoot our way out, get the ship, go for the secondary target..."

A grin spread over his face.

"Hold on a second, vod."

He ripped open a floor panel, then another, and pulled up a length of cable. "Dead, dead, dead - this is the power line for the computers. If I can power this up, you can use the computers to figure out where they rerouted control."

A precisely modulated stream of lightning flowed into the cables, and the computers powered up.

With a sigh, the Bard put down his feet. The front legs of the Moff's chair hit the carpet, and he jammed the sonic servodriver right up against that suspect drawer. It clicked.

But it did not click open. He frowned and adjusted the sonic. A second click. Another adjustment, then a third click.

Inside several layers of deadbolt and electronic security, the drawer held...a key.

"This man has too much time on his hands."

Mia grinned beneath her helmet at Verz's comment. "Yup!" she replied as she stopped at the end of the alley and peered carefully out. The huge building opposite them was the location of the power generator, and from the energy readings she gathered it was pretty close to the top. A quick glance at the entrance told her going through the front door was no an option, it was heavily guarded.

"What do you reckon? Government building or military?" she asked no one in particular and answering it herself "Feth it, who cares. We need another distraction. One big boom to draw their attention then we can get across to the side of the building and grapple hook half our way up. We can avoid the worst of the security...to start with at least."

Pulling back into the shadow of the alley she look at her team. "Idea's?"

Suddenly, smoke filled the control center, and Rach lost track of RC. A comm jamming field descended. With a curse, he ceased to send lightning into the power cables. The control panels died before he could catch more than a brief glimpse of the map location for the backup control center. He fried everything with bursts of lightning as blasterfire fountained in from suddenly opened doors.

Rach's jetpack fired, rocketing him up in the general direction of the hole in the roof. He piloted by instinct, but still slammed his head into the ceiling. His gauntlet snapped out and he caught the edge of the hole. The jetpack fired again, kicking him out of the control centre.

"@[member="Jorn Mair"], I've lost touch with RC two-one-two. Control centre's fried, I've got the location of the backup facility. Fire up the ship, vod."

Voices outside the door. The Bard slapped the desk safe closed and pocketed the key. As the door opened, the Bard crouched under the desk, for the sake of tradition.

"Wh- Get out of there!"

A Moff, a blaster, a moustache. The Bard, hands raised, crawled out from under the desk and got his back to the wall. A beefy hand ripped his sonic screwdriver from his grasp, and the blaster muzzle prodded under the Bard's chin.

And the Bard opened his mouth.

There once was a Moffling named Voss
With a face and an arse like a horse

The pudgy finger tightened on the trigger, and the Bard wrenched his head aside as crimson plasma punched into the wall beside his ear.

"I'm probably more likely to die from one ofof your schemes than the damn enemy, aren't I?" The building with the generator finally came into view. At least two squads of stormtroopers with heavy weapons were guarding the front door alone. They needed a distraction. And a good one at that. He thought for a second, analyzing the situation. He arrived at the most obvious, and probably the most suicidal choice. But unless anyone else had a better plan, it would probably be their best chance. "Alright. I've got a plan. I'll distract them, draw their fire. While the di'kuts are busy shooting at me, you three can climb the building and find the generator. It may be more than risky, but it's our best shot. And I'll be the one going. The rest of you go get the generator. That's an order."

Mia scowled at him, though it was hidden by her visor. "That's a stupid idea." Her dislike was clear in her voice "And one that will get you killed. Not happening." But then of course, Verz pulled rank and she slapped the side of his helmet for it "Mir'osik!" If only she hadn't gotten herself caught, she and Verz would be of a similar rank. "Fine, go. Get yourself killed."

After Mia slapped the side of his helmet and called him shit-for-brains, he depolarized his visor, to show her he was serious. He was gonna pull this off. He had to. If he failed, the whole attack and any lost Mandos would be in vain.He couldn't let that happen. "How about this Mia: I'll buy you a drink after this battle. That's a promise. And I'm a man of my word. You know that."

With that, he repolarized his visor, raised his rifle, and ran to the nearest cover, making sure the stormtrooper guards saw him. He popped out from behind caver to fire at them, hitting one square in the chest, knocking the man over. But these troopers had stronger armor than the grunts, so the man wasn't injured badly. Verz fixed that with another shot, this one to the head.

In rage, the other stormtroopers began firing at Verz's position, wwhich was inside a building he had boldly entered through the front, which had the desired effect of distracting the stormtroopers from his vode. "Go now! Oya ner vode!" he called into his helmet comm as blasterfire pummled the duracrete and durasteel frame of the building, shattering what was left of the store window.

Jorns eyes went large as the room he was looking at began to fill with smoke. He thought that maybe one of them messed up? But he doubted that. "Jorn Mair, I've lost touch with RC two-one-two. Control centre's fried, I've got the location of the backup facility. Fire up the ship, vod." Jorn jumped up and put away his rifle in the ship. He turned on the engine and contacted back. "Rach What happened down there Security system?" He had no Idea what had happened. If he knew that something might happen to RC but now was not the time to panic.
