The Annual Republic Military Banquet

Hanna smiled, she had worked hard to make sure that the banquet happened. Clean up was still happening but the fact was, they had defeated Omni, and now they needed to honor the heros, and what better than making sure their banquet happened still. She had paid to have the biggest ball room in courscaunt to be cleaned and ready for this event, which most were more than willing to help an event that was to honor those that made it possible for Courscunt to be the Republics again. It was suprising to see people from all walks of life go out of their way to make sure the banquet happened, and now it was finally here. The giant room was decorated, and full of food, and music was playing. Security was in place, and the event that would become a way for the republic to thank it's many officers was here. Hanna looked out as she saw officers trickle in, in their best. She hoped Kamon made it. He was her plus one after all.

"I'll be out in a minute sweetheart I promise," Kalia called through the door of the fresher. Looking back into the mirror she finished putting her lip stick before taking a few steps back to get a better look at the whole picture. Even though they were running late Kalia wanted to make sure everything was perfect and in place before stepping out and showing him. John had never seen her in this dress before. Actually he had never even seen the dark green evening dress she now wore as Kalia had hid it on the Jedi Temple. If she left it at home he would have somehow saw it via his own snooping or the children.

Every moment that she got to spend with John was precious as they didn't get to spend nearly enough time together. Their duties kept them apart from each other for months at a time sometimes. It was terrible to be without him for so long but they always seemed to get though it somehow by writing letters to each others. Kalia kept them all even the ones from way back when they first started seeing each other. She would every now and again send him baked goodies too when she had the chance as she knew he loved her cooking.

When she was with John the galaxy stopped spinning and it was only her and him nothing else matter. There was no paperwork, fancy titles, and responsibilities. She could just be herself, relax and have fun with the one person who meant the most to her in the galaxy. If it was up to her she wouldn't be going to this ball at all. She much rather be curled up on the couch with him watching a holomovie with the children however that couldn't happen. They both were expected to be in attendance at this event which meant she was expected to act accordingly.

"Do I look ok," she questioned stepping out of the fresher and spinning around a bit. Kalia's hair had been let down where it barely touched her shoulders as she had curled it a little bit. She wore around her neck a pretty little necklace that John had given to her long ago. It had been awhile since she last wore it but for tonight she thought it was perfect. She wondered if he would notice that or if he would just be lost in her eyes as normal. It had been months since they last saw each other.

Jonathan was impatient.. they were running late... and he was in his military dress uniform as per usual, though he wanted to go.. so that they could leave ealry and come back and visit. He had spent the day with the kids, since he hardly got to be with them. Then she got out of the fresher and he was amazed.. he dropped his hat. It had been so long since he had seen her let alone like that. It was a new dress... and she looked amazing, He walked towards her and picked her up by the waist and twirled her a round bring her to his lips for a kiss before setting her down. " Your beauitful and way more than ok as always love, " He was so glad to be off the ship and home, with her and the kids. He didn't mind the banquet, it happened every year, and if he was off his ship, he was expected to be here. He hugged her and stepped back giving her the look over that he knew she wanted. " hmm I think your necklace.. is quite fantastic.. whoever picked that out knew what they were doing, but I think you look perfect for the evening, what about me? are my ranks on right? " He said as he asked, he always had to fight them to get them to stay on his dress uniform.

John of course loved her and the kids.. and wished he could bring them with to the banquet, but alas that was not so. " Shall we leave my love?" He asked holding out his arm just like he did the night they met, and dispite all the years, he still got lost in her eyes, and her.. she was so beautiful, he didn't deserve her. He loved her so much, and he kissed her once more, before waiting to walk out towards the front door. Somehow their house had seemed to escape any damage from the whole omni thing. He was torn though now as he liked their residence on thyon. He smiled as he looked at his wife, she was so beautiful.. and he had a gift for her to complete her out fit, as he pulled a thin long box out of his pocket and handed it to her, inside was a bracelet to match the necklace, and it was obviouslly expensive.

Normally he was good at social events, great even. But this? When he recieved the message that he was to attend a mandatory dinner he knew there could only be trouble for him ahead. Not actual trouble, but more along the lines of boredom. He expected that all of the Admirals would be there. "Yaaay, I was invited to the Dinosaur club!" he mocked in a boyish voice as he waved his hands sarcastically in the air. With a sigh he slid out of his sanisteam and brushed his teeth, quickly going through the motions of preparing for such an event. He hadn't worn his Military Uniform in such a long time, he wasn't even sure where it was. "Nobody would mind if an Ace like me showed up in my flight jacket and some pants...As long as I look good right?" the thought of Admiral Kahoshi in a blinding rage quickly changed the perspective of the young Lieutenant. After a little while searching he finally found his dress blues and fixed them up nice before putting them on himself. With a shrug, he adjusted himself in his military uniform. It was crisp, ironed and well creased. And stiff. This was going to be a long night...

He looked handsome as always in his dress uniform. There was something about a guy in a uniform that always got her especially him in his. "You look very handsome as always sweetheart. Have I told you lately how much I love you?" she smiled straightening his rank bars for him. Kalia knew by now how everything was supposed to go. This wasn't her first banquet with John and it wouldn't be their last. After straightening him up Kalia she wrapped her arms around him for a second and reached up on her tippy toes to kiss him. Oh how she wished they could just stay here but they needed to go, perhaps later they would get some alone time.

"If we must," she smiled taking his arm. She loved her husband very much and wished he was home more. Kalia missed him terribly when he was away on his ship. If she could get away with it she would be on the ship with him but that would never work. She had her own duties here plus the children needed her. She was lucky to be able to spend time with them while he was alone in space. As he pulled a box from his pocket Kalia stopped mid-step to open it up.

He was always spoiling her and the children with fancy presents when their really was no need for it. Kalia didn't need a bunch of fancy things to be happy. All she ever had wanted and needed was him by her side. She appreciated it though he was so thoughtful. She had to admit she did like sparkly jewelry and he always picked out the nicest things. "It's beautiful John," she reached up to kiss him again. He was the sweetest man ever. Gingerly taking the bracelet out of the box she put it around her wrist and than held it up to show him. "Thank you, it's perfect," she smiled kissing him again.

She began to walk again towards the speeder as they were going to be late. Actually they were already late as it was and if they planned to leave early they needed to like be there five minutes ago. It was her fault as she took way too long to get ready.

Jaxton went to the Republic Military Ball dressed in a simple charcoal suit, with a red-shirt and a blue tie, complimenting his skin and hairtones. In the past he would have worn a suit with bright and varied colors, but he was no longer a grav-ball player, instead a Jedi. Everything he did was under scrutiny, and he couldn't afford to make the Jedi look bad on his part.

After making sure his apparel was acceptable Jaxton went to the entrance, dropped off his lightsaber, and went through a metal detector before entering the main arena. He looked around, and sadly noticed the distinction between Jedi, Politician, and Military. Though some spoke with others, most were socializing only with their own group. Jaxton had actually gone with the specific purpose of wanting to get to know some of the military men, so he found a short haired woman who appeared to be a Major, if Jaxton remembered his ranks correctly,

"Would any of you like to play a friendly game of Sabacc?" He said to the young woman @[member="Delila Castillon"] and presented a deck of cards.

A light sigh escaped Anemone's lips as she sauntered into the banquet hall, her fingers intertwined behind her back as she gazed about. The hall was rather set rather beautifully, which brought a smile to the young woman's face. It had been some time since she had a chance to do something other than work at the hospital, or her military duties But tonight, she was at a ball. An event where one could relax, and just enjoy the night. Where one could spend their time getting all dressed up for just a few hours. The simple thought of it caused her to smile rather happily, for a moment art least. That smile seemingly disappeared as she glanced down at herself, remembering that she was in her military uniform. There was a closet filled with nice gowns and dresses that she owned, yet she had been told that it would behoove her to come in proper uniform. In military terms, that simply meant that you ultimately had no choice.

These were the type of events that simply made the girl gush, and yet this evening, she seemed reluctant to socialize. Her head panned about, gazing at all those who attended in such beautiful attire before sighing heavily and she hung her head. "What am I even doing here looking like this? Maybe I should just go..", she mumbled to herself as she stood in the doorway, not realizing that she was partially blocking the entrance.

Exiting his skycar he looked up at the building the event was to take place, his eyes wandering down the giant building and finally to the door. There didn't seem to be anyone in line...Maybe he was early? Checking his chrono a heavy sigh escaped his lips. No. He was right on time. Walking up the steps to the door he flashed his military ID to the guards as well as the scanner that presented itself immediately after entrance. "Security is pretty high in this place huh?" he muttered under his breath as he slid his wallet back into the depths of his jacket. Making his way to the banquet hall he found his path obstructed by a person in uniform in what he assumed was a line to enter. Rolling his eyes he waited for a few moments. When no movement occurred he sighed and took a good look at the person in front of him. He knew almost all of the women in the Navy, don't ask, and this woman he didn't recognize 'Probably Army.' He thought to himself. 'Hey! Might as well test the waters!' he thought as a charming grin took the place of the scowl he had worn throughout his journey to the banquet.

"Excuse me miss." he said, tapping her shoulder gently. "Having second thoughts?"

Sammael stepped into the banquet hall with a saunter befitting only a Senator with an ego as large as his. Instead of his usual coat and clothing he wore a fine suit tailored perfectly to every edge of him, his mask was still firmly planted on his face hiding his ever grisly scar. Slowly he walked into the hall and quickly began to identify the people within.

Immediately he noticed the Vice-Chancellor, an admiral, several Jedi and a few unknown people. Sammael observed them for a few seconds, not taking any action to engage anyone in conversation just yet. To him these people were of no importance, and none of them begged him to converse. He wasn't quite sure why he was actually here, aside from his presence being requested by one person or another. So far Sammael had had nothing to do with the Republic Military, though apparently that would soon change.

Carefully Sammael made his way over to the edge of the banquet hall, he watched everyone with a subtle eye not letting on to what he was doing. He had always liked observing, even four hundred years ago this had been true. One learned a lot from just watching, and here within the Republic it was still true.

Delila thought of the entire event as one big work function. Only it was the boring type of work function, not the fun type where she was shooting or potentially blowing up something. She was dressed in her military uniform, fabric pressed and medals gleaming in the bright light. It was going to be an incredibly long night and she had already downed a bit of alcohol.

Better pace yourself, no one wants a drunk Major.

About to find anyone somehow related to the Republic Army, she was stopped by a Zeltron in a charcoal suit. No uniform....Interesting.

"I'd love to. So why are you stuck at this shindig?" Delila decided to make conversation as they found a small table to set up on.

Jaxton followed the woman to a table and listened to her ask why he was stuck at the banquet. Obviously she didn't think highly of balls or other such activities.

"I'm technically part of the military." Jaxton said to the woman as he noted the medals adorned on her uniform and the designatioj Maj. Castillon"I'm a Jedi see, though I promise I won't cheat you at cards." Jaxton tried to reassure. His words were honest, as he just wanted to pass time, but he wondered how much honesty would be taken from them. There were also some instances were being a Zeltron had a negative connotation. Trying to draw attention away himself, he set up a provided electronic dealer and looked for a new conversation piece.

"So how did you get those Ms Castillon?" Jaxton asked and pointed to the woman's medals as they were both dealt two cards. Jaxton was dealt an Idiot and an Endurance. Jaxton tried not to sigh as he looked at his hand. It looked like the company and not the cards would be his source of entertainment tonight.

Anemone jumped slightly as she felt a slight tap on her shoulder. After a partial turn, she stepped out of the way before finally looking to the male who had gotten her attention. An obviously forced smile came across her face as she nodded. "Uh, yes. Something like that. I mean, as nice as everything seems, I just don't I should be here." She glanced once more into the hall, noticing as the ones who had arrived already began congregating. At the heart of it, this was what made Anemone uncomfortable. She was not well known in the least, and she had interacted with even fewer people. Her lack of a life outside of the military and her surgical work had bitten her in the rear end. And to make matters worse, she was stuck in her uniform, which meant she couldn't truly let loose and enjoy the evening.

A slight sigh escaped her lips as she looked to the male once more her head tilted slightly. "What do you think?"

@[member="Turin Val Kur"]

Sophia didn't want to be here and if she had to be here she would have wanted to wear a dress. Parties were supposed to be were you got to dress up, right? Wrong as she was required to wear her uniform which she had to admit she kind of looked cute in but she much rather have worn that purple dress she had in her closet. Sophie had thought about breaking the rules and going in the dress anyway but she didn't want to get in trouble for a couple reasons. One Admiral Akio would kill her and secondly her father another Admiral would just embarrass her and than make her go home and change. It would suit her much better to just follow the rules and hopefully avoid her parents. If she could do that perhaps she could have a little fun. This banquet couldn't be that bad.

Picking up a virgin margarita from the bar she sighed as she wandered around the banquet hall a little before leaning up against the wall. Taking a sip of her drink she watched as people continued to filter in. She wasn't looking for anyone in particular just people watching for the moment. However, if she recognized someone she would just have to pop over to say hello as the last thing Sophia wanted to do was end up as a a wallflower at the banquet. She wanted to have a good time even if she was in her military uniform.

Delila couldn't help but laugh when he mentioned cheating at cards. Not because she didn't believe him.Quite the opposite in fact. "If you have to cheat at cards at a military banquet I feel sorry for you. Quite a sad life Master Jedi" Taking her set, the Major watched idly as he set up the electronic dealer so they could start playing. Didn't seem like sabacc though unless one was betting....but this was technically a 'work' function, best not to gamble at it.

The electronic dealer dealt her two cards, Queen of Air and Darkness and the Commander card. This did absolutely nothing for her. She tried not to let a frown form on her face and focused on the question instead.

"How else but killing others and pillaging planets Master Jedi?" A ghost of a smile hinted it was all a bit of off-color humor. "I've never seen you on the battlefield. Although its a big Army, I would tend to remember a Jedi"

Jaxton was bit put-off by the Major's response, but the smile on her face showed a bit of humor intended in her statement. Jaxton had actually been hoping for some stories of battles or adventures, but decided not to press.

"Please, just call me Jaxton." He said at the mentioning of 'Master Jedi'. the title was too stuffy, too formal for him. Though he was proud of his place in the Order he didn't want it to be the only thing people saw about him.

"I haven't served in that many places. I fought at Junction in aid of the Mandalorians, and served in the capture of Cato." Jaxton said as opted to shift his Idiot and got a Mistress of Coins. And thus his hand went from bad to worse. "I tell you what though, I've got a lot of reslect for you guys. Fighting is tough enough with lightsabers and powers, I can't imagine fighting without them." Jaxton said cordially, trying not to sound overly flattering.

Honestly, he didn't think he should be here either. He was only a Flight Lieutenant so the only people he really knew in the Navy were the grunts, almost none of which seemed to be here. Well, none that he knew anyway. The Admirals he knew...but not on an exactly friendly note. They, after all were the main reason he was here. As these thoughts began to run through his head he resisted sighing in realization and instead attempted a smile. "I think I know what you mean." he said. Technically right now he was on an extended shore leave. He could let loose and drink the night away, however...He knew his behavior was probably being judged if they asked him to wear his uniform. A club or Cantina would have been better. "Maybe a few drinks and a dance would change both our minds. Care to join me?" he aske, opening his hand for her to take.

John was only too happy to take her arm and escort her to the speeder. He was the luckiest man in the world to have a wife like Kalia.. and she was the main reason he was where he was. She was his rock and center. He always tried to make up for his absences with his full attention to his family when he was home, and with gifts. He yelled back into the house " Take care of Lauren for us.. Oliver
John loved her, and was only to glad to spend a night with her. The speeder took off and it was only a matter of time before they arrived. John smiled and helped her out of the speeder, " Well then shall we go, I personally want to get this over with so we can watch that holovid with the kids" he said, knowing that they had to make their rounds, and make sure that all got to see Admiral Walsh.

Anemone couldn't help but chuckle lightly at the forced smile the male was giving her. Anyone with even the slightest keen eye could tell. Though she appreciated his attempt to make her feel a bit more relaxed. If he was thoughtful enough to force a smile for her sake, her couldn't be all bad. Even if he was a bit scruffy looking.

Anemone's eyes gazed at the hand the male offered to her, her pupils lingering there for just a moment before returning to his face. Her lips coiled into a grin as she placed her hand within his own. Maybe tonight wouldn't be all bad. Just because she was forced to dress as she was didn't mean she couldn't find a way to have a good time. All she had to do was avoid anyone in her direct chain of command. As if that was actually possible at a military event. But one could hope and dream. "Maybe your right. Well, lead the way and we'll find out together. By the way, I haven't seen you before and didn't catch your name."

'Score!' The young man thought to himself as a practiced, charming smile made its way onto his face. Leading her over to a high table with some drinks he answered her question, "Lieutenant Turin Val Kur, Republic Navy. Paladin squadron." 'And also top ace.' he added with some sort of vanity inwardly. That however, could come later, now the polite thing to do was ask the woman her own name. "And I didn't get your name either, miss..." he let the half question trail off for her to answer as he poured them each a glass of the Couruscant Blush wine that was presented at the table. 'Much more fancy than I'm used to but...' He slid the glass over to her.

So far as he could see he was the highest ranking officer in the Navy present at this shindig, scratch that. His eyes caught sight of Captain Welsh...The Admiral's daughter. It wasn't that he disliked the Admiral, in fact he was the one Admiral he didn't mind flying under. He was a little less uptight than the others. It was his daughter. She was a time bomb waiting to happen, mostly due to the fact that she was the Admiral's daughter, and the Admiral didn't take kindly to people messing around with his daughter. Which was kind of a problem as sooner or later he would probably find his way to flirting with her. And one complaint from her...There went his career.

The evening of the military banquet and here he was in the hangar, waxing and polishing the the X-Wings of the Corsair Squadron until his shaggy reflection could be seen in the gleaming durasteel. Rags, tubs of thick wax and cigarette butts littered the area surrounding the sleek fighting vessels. Judah was running behind but there was no helping his tardiness. Even in a new squadron his mouth had gotten him in trouble.Wiping down the last fighter, Judah picked up his mess and quickly swept the hangar. Time to get ready.

Taking a quick sanisteam, Judah trimmed his goatee and brushed his teeth before fixing his unruly hair, still slightly damp. In his locker he had his military uniform waiting. Judah had never worn this one, he had worn one as a cadet plenty of times during his education at Flight Academy. Standing in front of the mirror, Judah fixed the tie on the dress blues and buttoned up his jacket. Not too shabby Dashiell.

While the military event was more for officers, Judah still decided to make an appearance. Heck, walking into the ballroom no one stopped him, even with his lowly rank of Flight Officer clearly visible on the jackets rank bars. Although to be honest he wasn't sure why he was making an appearance. He had been on no flights since coming back from medical leave and he was still on shaky ground. Judah hadn't quite recovered from his time as a host for the nano droids but had made leaps and bounds considering where he was just short while ago.

Not a big drinker, the Flight Officer passed up the bar, noticing....someone in the Navy pretending to blend in with the wall. Perhaps they could blend in together. It would give him the chance to scan the room for a certain Captain, one he had yet to see.

"Would you mind if I was a wallflower with you..." Judah trailed off, looking at the name bar "Captain Walsh?"
