OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

HYPERLANE INFORMATION
  • Hyperlane Name: The Aquavit Zigzag
  • Hexes Crossed: 7
  • Start Coordinate: P55
  • End Coordinate: O62
  • Route Points: Asop, Arcadia, Manas, Ceto, Port Mynock (Knojur System)
HYPERLANE CHARACTERISTICS
  • Speed: Low
  • Accessibility: It's publicly known and usable, but it's all local knowledge. Go a sector in any direction and almost nobody's heard of it.
  • Route Hazards: The far end of the Aquavit Zigzag is unusually safe for a Wild Space back road. Though piracy is a constant risk, the route is clear of notable anomalies. A good portion of the route is within reach of local ORC-affiliated patrol forces from Arcadia and Ceto, both of which are regional trade centers. The jaunt to the shadowport in the Knojur System is the most dangerous stretch, mainly just from pirates and hostile alien civilizations. Mynocks, of course, are a constant hassle.
  • Rest Stops: Asop to Arcadia is a short, safe, easy trip, and the most frequently used part of the Zigzag: it's a direct line between the regional trade hub and oceans of pure alcohol. Arcadia to Ceto has one good rest stop at Manas; ships can also leave the route and stop off at Oberon, though that's a bit risky. The leg from Ceto to Port Mynock is long, cold, and tricky. If necessary, one could stop off at the pre-technological world of Zahat'n'ira.
DESCRIPTION
The Aquavit Zigzag, unlike many trade routes, is closely associated with specific products: natural alcohol from Asop, and Silk Holdings kolto from Ceto. The Zigzag runs booze and kolto through the Outer Rim Coalition's eastern heartland and out into the shadowports of true Wild Space. It's faster and more reliable than a lot of the local praedia and small routes, but by galactic standards it's slow and a bit treacherous. Word on the street is Jorus Merrill helped lay the original nav buoys. Truth is, he did - to pay off [member="Vaudin Miir"]'s bar tab.
