Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night

Darth Emras did try to use his saber against the charging lunatic but the armor surprised him. There were not many people who would charge a Sith head first. It caught him off guard and when the punch made contact he fell backwards. He put his hands up to deflect the oncoming blows but this army man was determined to make the Sith suffer. Blow after blow landed on his face until he was seeing stars and coughing blood. He managed to cough up a few choked words, that mixed with a few teeth moments before he lost consciousness.

"Please... he has my daughter..."

The next moment the blackness overtook him and he passed out, his dark robed body going limp under the weight of the private.

He'd caught the Sith off guard, and grabbed him by the shirt while pummeling his face. Part of him really wanted to kill the guy, would have felt good to do it. But then he said something that caught Dash off guard. He had his daughter? Now he wanted to know who the He was. He still punched the guy one more time for good measure, just making sure he was out cold, but then he hoisted him up and slung him over a shoulder. If the guy was being blackmailed there might be some level of redemption for him.

Meanwhile, Sarge clicked his comm off so he could speak with the Jedi without Dash hearing.

"We give him a hard time by telling him he has no special skill, but he really is good against people like that," he said, motioning towards the body that Dash was now carrying towards them. "None of us have ever been able to do something like that. He thinks he doesn't fit in, but he's the glue in this unit, even if he is a mouthy little blurg."

Dash reached them just after the Sarge had spoken, managing to not hear a word of what was said as he looked them over.

"Sith guy said, and I quote, 'He has my daughter' right before blacking out." He looked between the Sarge and the Jedi, as if sensing something conspiratorial between them. "Did I miss something? And who's the he? Someone else that needs hunting down?"

"Did I miss something? And who's the he? Someone else that needs hunting down?"

Katarine let a long breath out slowly and let her shoulders hunch slightly. It had been a long day and she was glad to see it coming to an end. Or at least as much of an end as it could for now.

"It's a long story but I believe 'He' is a man named Doctor Roderick Wells. He's a serial killer I came to Canto Bright looking for but he got the jump on me and imprisoned me in the basement. The children you found locked up are the intended victims of Wells. The doctor doesn't work well with others and often resorts to blackmail and coercion. My guess is that is why this Sith was lingering around. The Sith must be of use to Wells, or at least he was. Wells is too smart to stick around Canto Bright after this mess."

Katarine pushed her long brown and white hair out of her face and rubbed her forehead. She needed a shower and some headache medicine and about a year of sleep but the Jedi never got much of that. At least not when there was work to be done.

"Thank you all for coming to my rescue. I am sorry I ended up in this situation. The New Jedi Order owes you a lot. I suggest we take the Sith back to Alliance space and detain him. I'll question him and see if I can find any leads and you guys can get back to your own business. I am sorry I dragged you into this mess."

She let her deep green eyes fall on Dash, peering intently at his helmet. "You are lucky. Not many people can charge a Sith and live to tell the tale. Thank you."

"No such thing as luck, Princess, and never tell me the odds either," he said, shifting the Sith's body on his shoulder. "Dude is kind of heavy, so let's get him to the transport."

Sarge agreed and hustled the others down the stairs. Dash refused to go ahead of the Jedi, though. She was their charge, and even though there wasn't anyone else up on the roof that could be coming after her, he wasn't taking any chances. Yeah, the Order owed them, but he didn't really care. Quite frankly, it was enough for him to have taken out the Sith. Punching one of them in the face was extremely satisfying. Not like he got to do it often, either. Normally he wasn't facing them.

"If you want to repay us, buy us a round of drinks," he said as he followed her down the stairs. "No need to repay the Alliance for this. Pretty sure Sarge did it as a favor for that Vanagor guy anyway."

Fortunately no one seemed keen to bother them. They released the bouncer, too. He wasn't a part of anything, had done nothing to stop them, and had cooperated. No sense assuming he was part of the group when he didn't give any reason for him being anything other than a local guy making money at a legitimate job. Can't argue with that.

At the transport, he dumped the Sith into a seat before putting a pair of Force binders on him. Never go out with those.

"Alright, take us to the ship, driver," Sarge said. "Let's get back home."

Katarine smiled to herself at the mention of Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor . She would have to thank him for having a hand in saving her tail as well. He must have alerted someone after she'd made that strange late night call. Generally you were not supposed to make contact like that when you were on an undercover assignment. In fact it was often seen as a cry for help if you did such a thing. She was lucky her breach of protocol ended up being a good thing and ended up getting her rescued. She was sure there was going to be fire to pay when she got back and filed her report. Jedi Investigators spent a lot of their life alone and lived by their own rules for the most part, but there were still systems put in place that the Order expected them to follow. She'd broken those rules and she'd have to fess up to that.

She gathered her things from her local motel room and decided she would let the army crew take her back to Alliance space. She figured part of their assignment was delivering her back anyway so they probably would mind her freeloading a lift. After a brief period in the refresher unit Katarinie felt a little more like herself. She changed back into her jedi jumpsuit and let herself ease down on one of the seats. She was not looking forward to the paperwork that was waiting when she got home, that was for sure.

"It's been a long day." She rubbed her eyes and then let them wander the ship, wondering what the army crew did when they had some down time.

[End]
