The Burning of Thyferra | TSE Invasion of GA Held Thyferra Hex

Companion: Lucem,

The man was taken care of for now. Blaster fire then seemed to ring out in every direction around me though. As soon as I had ignited the weapon that was within his hands, I twisted my body in just enough time to see a blaster shot slide past my chest cutting through the material of my jacket. Looking up, I saw the second blastershot too late. No time to steel myself. No time to dodge. I just prepared my body. Getting smacked on my right butt-cheek between the thickest part and my thigh.

Boy did hit hurt.

I had thought I was a gonner. Felt like I was at least. I could feel the muscle spasms in my body as I shook and fell over to my side. The impact was fairly hard since I couldn't move to protect my head or face. I just teetered over and slapped the ground. The two soldiers that had been left standing flew in different directions due to the blast. Not sure how much damage was done to them, but I could not stay here for long. I needed to get back up. It hurt, but this was nothing compared to literally walking into a volcano, climbing around the inside of it, and making it out. I did my best to fight through the pain, slowly being able to move my limbs.

They shook like a leaf in the wind. Unable to get any real purchase. I knew exactly who did this. That damned knight. I would have left her alone. I had no intention of going after her. Just the soldier for firing at me. However, now that she had, I felt like I had to return the favor. I couldn't though. Just the way that she sounded during are limited communication. Lucem was so focused on trying to fight beside me against the soldier that he couldn't pay attention to this girl. It killed me to think that just after doing all of this, a stupid stun bolt got me. In the ass too!

Finally being able to right myself. I barely had enough focus after having my mind scrambled.

"You think so poorly of me Knight. Believe that I cause this? Then why have you seen me only fight your men and not the civilians?"

Lucem floated quickly over to me and was using his little frame to try and push against my back to get me up. Not much could be done with that though. I was too heavy for him. Instead, I had to very shakily, and very painfully fight the effects of a stunbolt.

"You fired upon me while I was attempting to let you flee with your people. What other Sith would give you that chance? You hate so much of what you do not know."

Hidden under the cover of ruins, temporarily finding refuge among stone, the pit forming in her stomach only furthered its intensity as her apparent opponent drew closer to her location. When she did get a glimpse of the fellow, her eyes widened, nerves faltering for a moment. She knew this man, well, knew of him. She'd be a fool not to know the face of the leader of everything the Jedi stood against. To attempt going toe to toe with such an entity was both honor and death sentence, one it was far too late to back out of.

There was no point continuing to hide her location. There'd be no escape, no easy way out of this confrontation. "If it's all the same to you, I'd rather not die quite yet, uh, your majesty." She masked her dread with civility, voice ringing audible yet lacking in any extra bravado.

The lightning coaxed her out of her hiding place, the attack itself missing its mark only due to the small wall of plasma created by the Jedi twirling her blade about, its blue giving an odd contrast to the red energy. She had a feeling it wouldn't be the last time the saberstaff was her saving grace this day.

Outside of avoiding being eletrocuted, Sundara's focus lied on the Force, particularly the more specialized techniques her training had turned towards. Morichro was one she hadn't quite mastered, nor did she believe it'd do much against the Dark Lord. Right now, she'd take anything just to slow the coming onslaught.

Teeth clenched and she winced as rocket-man hit the dumpster. That was gonna hurt in the morning. Standing, she scurried forward, easing closer so she'd be at the same level as the dumpster. Luckily, there was enough debris for her to crouch low behind. Tangled strands of light brown hair framed her soot-streaked face. Angled-jaw clenched.

Knight?

He must've sensed what she hid from most people and what she wished she could forget and leave long behind. Blaster remained up and pointed at the sith, arms tense as she peeked out. "Then prove it," she quipped. She edged closer. Ducking behind another chunk of debris. "Walk away." Closer. "Being a passive observer makes you just as guilty as burning this city and those civilians in it."

Closer.

Head peaked out again, catching what must've been Lucem. Something he yelled earlier? "Walk away," she repeated. One hand dug out a set of terentattack cuffs. Other hand still held her blaster. She'd give him a second and if his response wasn't conducive to walking away, he'd find a girl suddenly lunging at him and one of his wrists. Probably that one rubbing at his backside.

If he did walk away or admit he was going to, well then, she'd wait, cuffs and gun still ready.

There were no words that could be ascribed to what thoughts ran through the Golden Tribune’s mind, as his dark, hooded eyes, swept across the rolling carpet of corpses and took stock of his surroundings. The man was no stranger to the violence of war, nor the bloody aftermath that followed suit. He had seen much in his relatively short life and was utterly unphased by the grisly scene that was laid out before him. Hundreds of desiccated corpses littered the primary thoroughfare of the Starport, either draped from the iron-shod banisters like gore-stricken banners or impaled upon the walls by ferromagnetic quarrels. Those that had not suffered such a terrible fate, were piled atop the once polished marble tiles, and stitched with a mass of catapulted spears or bracketed by dozens of smouldering carbon scores - each an inconsequential footnote in what would one day be written about the travesty that befell this world, and her native populace.

If only the Galactic Alliance had concerned themselves with what lay within their sphere of influence, rather than meddling in everything that laid beyond. Perhaps then, these people might have lived out their miserable lives with some measure of peace. However; by some miscalculation, or by the whim of an overzealous fanatic, they had ignited a maelstrom of violence that would one day consume this self-aggrandizing band of heroes and their mighty stellar empire that had built.

‘It’s done,” A voice echoed throughout his combat helm, rousing the Sun Guard from his momentarily distracted state. “Let’s collect our payment and get off this rock before the coming inferno consumes this world.” Khonsu blinked thrice before his mind had cleared itself of its previous distraction and snapped back to reality. The Legionnaire was right. They had done what the Sith Empire had asked of them and caused enough chaos within the bounds of the city to draw away the armed forces of the Alliance. Or, at least enough to make a difference so that other elements of the Sith-Imperial Legions would have an easier time putting this city to the torch. The innocent were slaughtered, and their primary route off this burning world was about to be reduced to nothing more than ashes.

For all intents and purposes, the citizens of Xucphra were corralled and consigned to die as the blazing pyre grew ever higher.

“Very well,” Khonsu began, as his crimson-shrouded eyes drifted away from the carnage. “I want off this wretched world as soon as possible, so arm the charges and see to it that this place will be nothing more than ruins. You have two hours to see it done.” As his eyes began focusing on those under his command that had trailed behind his erstwhile firing line, the Tribune’s gaze focused on his second - a man by the name of Sokar Azad. Though this terrible day had offered little in terms of satisfaction, the Sun Guard was pleased to see that his comrade in arms still breathed. The man was good at what he did, and it would’ve been quite the blow to the Golden Company, and Khonsu’s legion thereafter, should he have fallen in battle to the chaff, and the sparse pockets of resistance.

When the glinting ruby lenses of their combat helms met, the Thyrsian opened an encrypted channel and spoke in hushed - almost reverent tones. “Brother, I want you and your Cohort to follow me to the last hangar bay on the left. I’m told there’s quite the prize residing within, and I want my Second to revel in the spoils.”

No verbal response, was it? Silence in itself spoke a thousand words. Actions spoke louder, and those Vahliath laid witness to foretold something specific: the Force would find conflict in itself today - and friction would blind the outcome. Still, Vahliath remained confident, even when that combination of rubble, grit and Force propelled back towards him. Ducking, dodging and diving wouldn’t change the inevitable outcome of being hit if he challenged the retaliation head on without the necessary power; to fight fire, fire was required. The Force still moved around him, unchanging in its transparent form as it surrounded the Sith. When those pieces of rubble got too close, the Force bound them in its embrace, crushing them under an intensifying pressure until they were so insignificant they’d do little more than irritate the flesh. While that was all and well and good, there was still the matter of the warrior himself, instigating saber combat in the form of a charge towards the Sith associate. Vahliath had long been m ready for such combat, wielding that vibrant sword of white light in patience, once determined to plunge into the Force-user’s ally who tried to use altitude to his benefit. Now there was a new enemy to slay.

Once Coren moved close enough, Vahliath swung his Lightsaber up against the opposing. He pivoted his frame to the left, spinning on his heels just once to manoeuvre behind his target and bring his luminous blade down upon him. Distance was essential here. Too close, and Coren’s saber might have found an opening. Too far, and the distance between them would have meant his weapon had less chance of contact. Three foot was a comfortable distance, enough for Vahliath to pivot his frame if his enemy was as agile as himself, for Vahliath undoubtedly moved in swift precision. The intent to kill was strong; he was determined - passionate. Emotionally in tune with what was associated and expected of a Sith.

The pain from the saber burn on his leg was extraordinary, and began to effect his focus and so to the best of his ability he pushed it from his mind, at least enough to remove it to a duller pain to concentrate on the situation at hand. His hit had had little effect on the woman, he had hope for more but there was no time to sit back and ponder that now. He felt the build up of power in his shield, the almighty push had come to help him or he might have been facing something more deadly. But almost in unison, she had done the same while flying through the air and her blast hit him firmly sending him off his feet and through the air out of control.

The ground did not give him any cushion when his body landed, his body again wracked with pain and the wind in his lung expelled with the collision. It took him a lot longer to get to his feet this time, and breathing laboured as lung sort to regain air and pressed against his ribs more painful than the injury to his leg. That was almost forgotten in the over all scheme of things. His shield have come from his arm, landed only a few meters away from him, it was unscathed. He turned to his side and reached for it, the bond calling it to him and within seconds it lifted from the ground and flew to him. Once back in his grasp, it would help for him to push off the ground.

Once back on his feet, he turned to face the woman again, she standing ready for another attack or lunge from him, but this time he would not. There was little point to it, close quarters gained him nothing and so once steady on his feet again, Theo knelt rammed his fist into the ground to summon a shock wave that rippled through the ground churning it upward with the hope of unbalancing her again. At least it would buy him some time and make her do the running this time.

The Imperial Fleet hovering above the city surface quickly readied itself for the oncoming missile attack, diverting additional power to their shields to bare the brunt of the assault, though most only sustained minimal damage, one Star Destroyer was caught off-guard, the missile barrage striking it's bridge. A large explosion occurred, decimating the bridge and causing the vessel to begin plummeting towards the city below, impacting nearly the central district, it's hulk skidding uncontrollably through the city for a distance of several miles before coming to a halt, it's hull split in twain.

The rest of the fleet's fighter compliments were quickly scrambled into action, each squadron of TIE Fighters and Interceptors led by a fighter ace-piloted TIE Defender. The skies above Xucphra were quickly engulfed in a massive fighter engagement as both waves of fighters quickly met one another in combat. Morcus looked on from the city outskirts, a look of dissatisfaction upon his face. "I give them one job and they fail to carry it out. I'll have to speak to the fleet admiral about the incompetence of those under his command...."

The assault on the defense stations halted as the threat detection systems throughout Zahori's fleet began blaring as an attack from beneath the fleet came in full force. "Admiral, we're being attacked from the planet's surface. The Alliance has had a fleet there the entire time without us noticing." one of the enlisted on the bridge of the Sable Scar reported.

"Fire back with all we have. Alert the fleet to do the same. This is the same fleet that fled Muunilist. I can feel it. Rip them to shreds." Zahori commanded.

At her command, the fleet maneuvered to descend upon the planet, leaving the shattered carcasses of the orbital stations to float away into space. The entirety of the feet unleashed it's arsenal upon the Alliance fleet. Countermeasures had to be deployed as a swarm of missile fire came upon the Sable Scar. Flares and chaff were released, causing many of the incoming missiles to detonate long before reaching the command ship, but some were able to make it past the countermeasures. Thankfully, the deflector shields took the brunt of the attack. However, the shields did not last long as the barrage of ion cannon fire saw a swift end to the deflector shields, leaving the Sable Scar without it's shielding. The reinforced matrix armor hull of the Scar held up strongly against the assault.

An officer walked onto the bridge in a bit of a rush before halting and saluting Zahori. "Admiral the preparations are ready per your instructions." he reported. A grin crawled it's way onto Zahori's face. "Right on time. Prepare evacuation." Zahori commanded. The officer saluted her and walked off the bridge. Zahori chimed into her ship's announcement channel before speaking. "Attention to all aboard the Sable Scar. Commencing Order 82. I repeat: Order 82 is commencing. Abandon ship or risk death." The announcement channel then went quiet and alarms began blaring as evacuations began. While the ship's crew manned the escape pods, Zahori was followed by a detachment of the Shadow Fist, the reincarnated Sith special forces. She had TIE Subjugators prepped and ready for them to evacuate. Zahori jumped into the cockpit of hers and the commandos into theirs. "Raider squadron, stick close and protect my flank." Zahori commanded to her commandos. The fighters departed from the hangar bay and flew towards one of the Plague-classes above. "They've been given enough time.." Zahori said to herself as her fighter began powering down. She reached into the pocket of her pants and pulled out a detonator. Once she got a firm grim on the detonator, she pressed down on the flashing button.

Meanwhile, the Sable Scar was taking the hits it was given without any fight back. The ship just moved closer and closer to the city. Before leaving the ship, the crew re-activated a droid kept in the broom closet just for this moment. The droid's sole purpose was piloting the battlecruiser towards the city. It did not question it's orders. It only followed them as any droid would. What the droid did not know was that the Sable Scar was rigged with explosives throughout the ship's interior in all of it's sweet spots. Once Zahori pressed the detonator, each one of these explosives detonated, exploding in a boisterous symphony of flame, completely obliterating the interior of the Sable Scar. Chain explosions ripped through the ship causing the ship to break apart into chunks of scorching hot metal falling down upon the city from the atmosphere.

Zahori watched her plan come to fruition from the safety of the Plague-class she was aboard. "We're done here." she stated coldly through her communicator. With that coming from Zahori, her fleet began pulling out of the area and would engage their hyperspace drives and retreat from the system. With the orbital stations destroyed and the Sable Scar turned into hellfire upon Xuchpra City, Zahori was satisfied with what she had done.

Thyferra would burn.

The Force was an odd sort of energy. It seemed to enforce the balance, and that meant everyone was a piece on the dejarik board. At times there was a greater hold of the board by light, and other times by dark. It was constantly in flux, and Coren knew that he was on the side of the light, and was going to do his best to ensure that as long as he lived and breathed that the board was going to lean his way. And the Master was a sort of aggressive piece, anything he did could push the scale in the wrong direction, he knew that. He had to be careful, he had to be exact. He had to be certain.

Coren had to make a situation for Noah to get himself and his troops into position. He needed the help, and when engaged in lightsaber combat, it dulled a lot of Coren’s other abilities, but fueled a bit of focus and purpose in him. The relationship this pilot had with close quarters combat was very terrible, but if he could make it work, the Force would aid him when the time was right.

The lightsaber came up at him, and Coren swung, controlled but without a sense of purpose and form. He caught the lightsaber and felt his foe move away, he was going to let that happen, and take it to his advantage. As his foe pivoted, Coren threw himself forward, extinguishing his blade and threw the jumpjet on his back forward, gaining him a short distance, before turning and bringing his lightsaber back to life. Avoiding a SIth head on?

Probably one of the smarter moves Coren had done. He was much more controlled with the Force. Turning, he had begun to summon the Force to him again, and threw another blast, this one designed to slow his foe down. If needed, he debated the concept of slowing the both of them down, but that was not a sustainable use of the Force. He was allowing it to swirl around him again, as he watched the Sith respond. He knew he was going to need to be ready, this one had a few more tricks than he was aware of.

"Medvac reinforcements have arrived in the nick of time"

"Prozac, you will take care of the civilians in Xylophone and Alphabet cities, while Ibuprofen will take care of Chupacabra. Everyone else in medvac will continue as before"

The enemy taking control of the machinegun emplacements hasn't gone unnoticed: under machinegun fire, one of the transports has been sustaining heavy damage, but could nevertheless, along with the others, take off before the enemy air patrols returned. Just with some holes, belching smoke, and a few dead occupants. For this reason, the damaged ambulance arrived last to the Tylenol, with a few injured patients, some of them critically as a result of having received machinegun shots, and a few barrels of bacta. She knew it was impossible to save everyone when the city was under attack the way Xucphra was, but hopefully Cato, Vaudin and the others made it safely, alongside the civvies they had in tow. But they were lucky to have only suffered relatively minor disturbances until... this explosion came. One Star Destroyer was destroyed, uncontrollably skidding in its fall. And then came the volley of enemy fire prior to the destruction of the enemy flagship, the Sable Scar. They were being hit in all directions, but even with sensor jamming, at that range, they were still taking heavy damage to their shields, with debris and atmosphere softening the blow somewhat. And the largest ships absorbing the most fire, including the medvac ships. The ambulances were mostly able to evade the larger debris in the field but some of them took some damage from dust and smaller debris at high speeds.

"Their flagship has been destroyed, and its debris have buffeted all the other ships, they are retreating, so the Sith may as well have lost space superiority" Tanith reported, upon seeing in horror the destruction of the Sable Scar and its debris falling.

"Best to break off now" the sensor technician reported in, while the explosion of one Star Destroyer was so massive that they could see it at that altitude. "The enemy air patrols are returning, poodoo"

"Stay out of heavy turbolaser range of the remaining three Star Destroyers: fire point-defense only. The Sith were going to kill the residents anyhow. Here's to hoping the enemy air patrols will target the fighters before they target the medvac"

"There may not even be any more civilians left to save in the Xucphra region" the chief medical officer countered.

Destroying one Star Destroyer was of little comfort to her, given the amount of collateral damage it has caused, even when the fighters were returning to ship to be re-armed with the very same MIRVs that were used in the first pass. The enemy was now down to 18 squadrons over the city, whom she could readily engage with 17 squadrons equipped with MIRVs fired beyond visual range, as soon as they could close in within standard turbolaser range of the enemy fighter screen. Then and only then the massive fighter engagement truly began; the enemy fighters would have a total of 1,020 missiles fired at them, after the buses split up un five warheads apiece, before the enemy fighters could even think of closing the distance. Because of the joint efforts of several medvac units, some of the civilians across the city will survive, leaving behind Sith and defenders, and casualties rising on both sides. But, in the end, there were so many debris, it wouldn't be possible to be shooting down all the debris in an attempt to save the doomed city. Yet she needed to thin the herd of enemy attack craft before she could even think of boarding the enemy destroyers.

  • Continued medvac operations
  • Fired point-defense at enemy fighters
  • Used all 17 squadrons to fire MIRVs at enemy fighters
  • The Impugnment jams enemy sensors

"Way-hay, and up she rises." Kaila reloaded her pistol and ducked into a blackened building. "Way-hay, and up she rises." Sith troops marched around a corner, down the outside street, and she narrowed her eyes. "Way-hay, and up she rises early in the morning..." Ready-aim-fire, then move. They were in close range - her only advantage. Fire. Move.

She didn't think about the fact that she was hiding in a destroyed building. She didn't think about the people who'd been in it and she definitely didn't think about how if she'd gotten there sooner she could've evacuated. No, Kaila traipsed through the streets singing through verse after verse aimlessly under her breath, footsteps timed to its rhythm - everything else was pushed beneath. It was ready-aim-fire-move, over and over against stubborn repetition.

CRASH

She was peering around a building when it collapsed and brought what looked like entire streets down with it. The brunette had a heartbeat to process what was happening- it wasn't enough. A moment of pure fear and confusion and then debris rained and Kaila couldn't see.

What had happened? Was she still alive?

Vaguely, she was aware of concrete beneath her. Of injuries and her head ringing (her armor was for blasters, not fallen buildings - she wasn't this kind of an agent, she wasn't prepared). She forced herself to register her surroundings, trying determinedly to gather herself. A building had fallen. She'd missed the worst of it, but all that meant was that she hadn't died.

"Son of a-" forcing rubble away, she tried and failed to get to her feet. It took two more tries to stay standing, and even then she was limping as she searched for an exit. "Hello? HELLO?"

Kaila wasn't a medic, a healer. She hadn't come expecting to save people - only to do her slim part in stopping the onslaught. But then, she hadn't come expecting any of this. Things were different. And she couldn't just walk away.

He'd sensed them coming. Anger erupted from the troopers of the 42nd Airborne like a volcano as they closed in on the smoldering wreckage. Cale couldn't say he blamed them, he'd just mowed down a decent number of their brothers and sisters in arms, they'd want to be damn sure he was dead. For better or for worse, he wasn't. Pressed against the trunk of a rather large tree he held his blaster tight, reaching out and sensing the locations of the soldiers.

I am one with the force, and the force is with me.

It was a platoon judging by their numbers, heavily armed too, and the way the darkness hung around their very being marked them as proficient killers. Cale was going to need to fight hard and smart if he wished to ever leave this jungle. As the platoon neared the back half of his now devastated X-Wing, he reached out in the force from behind his place of refuge, the dense smoke and darkness hiding him away for now. With his grasp he found the last remaining fuel cell in the downed fighter, and just as the troopers came close enough he squeezed.

The cell detonated the second the flames of the wreckage touched the contents of the cell, exploding outward and spraying debris like fragmentation. The temptation was there to charge out, lightsaber in hand and let Cassian Feryn be no more so that he could once again be Cale Gunderson, Jedi Knight. But he'd closed that door a long time ago hadn't he? Plus that was a good way to get killed, which he was avoiding at present.

There was a tremble, and Enyo felt a surge in the Force, as a shockwave tore from the ground, pushing it upwards. Suddenly, the ground rose up, slamming into her. Drawing upon the agility her cybernetic physiology granted her, Enyo leapt into the air. It was a hard landing when she came down upon the ground a few metres away, but the Force cushioned it somewhat. She was content to play the range game with her opponent, rather than charge.

However, it was then that the entire premise was shaken by violent tremors, as if it were the start of an earthquake. However, the quakes had not been caused by the Jedi Master – or her. Rather, they were the result of a goddamn Star Destroyer falling out of the sky and crashing into the city.

Doubtless the death toll would be...staggering. The laboratory was far away from Xuchpra City. Thus the two combatants would not be in danger of being turned into smashed by a huge warship and turned into pancakes. They would be able to see large chunks of scorching metal descending from the heavens though. Some of the debris raining down upon Thyferra might find its way here. Through the Force, one could hear the cries of those whose lives were snuffed out in the cataclysm, no matter whether they might be Sith, GA or noncombatants who had the misfortune of being caught in a war zone.

Furthermore, the two duellists felt the quakes. The tremors was so strong that part of the laboratory's outside wall gave way and came crashing down. Having ironically gotten closer to it, Enyo seemed to vanish beneath a column of debris. For a moment, it seemed to have buried her. Her HUD was overwhelmed by the stream of information. Clouds of smoke and dust rose, billowing upward into a sky that was by now scarlet with fire. For just a moment, she remembered Korriban. The denizens of Thyferra were now being bombarded with the same rain of burning death that had incinerated her body on that fateful day. However, she'd been reborn in the flames - and emerged stronger. Perhaps this would apply to some of them as well. Renewed determination filled her.

Then a cybernetic, phrik-gauntlet covered hand pushed through the debris. Her hammer pushed more debris out of the way, and Enyo emerged. Her movements were less smooth, she seemed to be favouring one leg a bit more and behind her phrik helmet's visor, one eye flickered, but she stood. Ready for further combat. Perhaps the Jedi had been affected by the tremors, perhaps he'd managed to shield himself in one manner or another.

Either way, she stretched out with her telekinetic willpower, seeking lock him in a massive Force Grip. A focal point was his throat. Seeking to lift him into the air, she attempted to slam him into into the wreckage of a Sith shuttle with tremendous velocity.

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.
It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.
We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

Caecus moved to block the incoming saber strike, realizing in a heartbeat as the man dropped into a slide that it was a feint. That action gave him away, and as the shelves hit the halfway point she dodged forward, dropping into a shoulder roll as the top shelf clipped her back. She hissed behind the mask, a line of fire from the corner- no great injury but painful- surging back up to her feet and turning toward the Jedi. Blue saber rose, the second held at the ready, and for a moment there was no doubt that here was the beginning of a lightsaber duel that could bring down the warehouse itself.

Fate, or the Force, however, had a different plan.

In the skies above, chaos reigned. Small ships, fighters, from both sides had fallen onto the burning city. But now it was more. The sensation of the SD ploughing into the ground a kilometer away sent a shock wave beneath their feet. The shockwave sent a cloud of hot, burning ash through the air from the impact, and even inside, the open windows a floor above their heads allowed that smolder to rain down on them. Flickers of red cinders and grey dust filled the air as Kith drew herself up fully, the tension of the intent of attack clear and present.

And then something greater filled the Force around them. Something far more immediately.

Above, the breaking up of the sith cruiser filled the sky with white hot metal. It was clear in a heartbeat that the piece coming down closest did not threaten the pair in the center of the warehouse. There was no sense of threat from it, merely the weight of force.

And yet the Sith turned.

In truth, Kith didn't think. She didn't pause to consider. She could have called out a warning to him- told him to move now. But no matter how fast Luca was, how quickly he could register and respond, he still wouldn't know which way to break. It was not a series of thoughts, of conscious decisions. Kith acted.

The pair of lightsabers clattered to the ground.

She knew exactly where he was. He'd moved after the shot- of course he had. If he hadn't it wouldn't have been Luca, the careful operator, always thinking about every action before implementing. It was part of why she had hired him. A killer, born and bred.

But that wasn't why she moved now.

It all happened in a heartbeat. As soon as she got close enough to see where everything was (there was a pylon, there an archway) she reached out with the Force and shoved him. Flung him back into the only safe, structural spot. She couldn't do it from a distance, she couldn't see it and it might have meant nothing if she had simply tried to push him blindly. It meant that she was in the space she wanted him out of when the chunk of the ship crashed through the roof, raining down shining hot, half molten metal, that portion of the ceiling and the girders that held it up..... down on top of her.

The masked and robed figure disappeared beneath the rubble.

Sitting there, slowly I could feel the effects of the stun bolt fading. The Knight spoke back. Threatening me. To be fair, I had attacked them, however, this one chance I gave them was the one chance given back to me. Slowly standing up, I moved to let my hands be open and visible that I would not draw any weapons. No need to really. However, I could slowly hear a whining. Getting louder and louder. I let it stay out of my mind for the moment.

"I will walk away, as will you. You have a weapon ready, but are you actually prepared to use it?"

I don't know if she really was one for killing. Considering the fact she had a pair of handcuffs as well as a stun blaster. Her comrade though? Yeah, he would kill me in an instant. He seemed to have an insatiable desire to kill me. The whining grew louder by the second. Looking up, I saw massive forms of debris falling from the sky. With the battle overhead with the massive ships, I knew that one had fallen down, and would be crushing just about everyone. I didn't ask for permission. I just did it. Finding the soldiers through the force, It was easy to yank them with Telekinesis back to be between where the girl was standing. I rushed over to her at the same moment.

"Trust as if your life depends on it."

I threw my hands out to either side of me as I hunched down over the soldiers and was directly next to her. A small shimmering red sphere formed over us as the ship above began to land down. Crashing down around us. The fires that had once been easily able to be put out, were now raging upon the ground and spread like butter on hot toast. I hated this idea, I didn't want to defend these soldiers instead of my now dead men, but if I had to do this to get out of here, then I would.

I gave the smallest amount of trust for the woman that she wouldn't shot me of put those cuffs on me right at this moment considering the circumstances. In fact, I knew there was the ability to meld within the force minds and strengths to strengthen one another. I hoped that she could do that with me, or also create a barrier around us so that we wouldn't die from the thousands of metric tons of debris falling.

This was a first for me. Trusting someone who wanted to kill me.

Hopefully it didn't go poorly.

The sudden realisation that a star destroyer was plummeting down onto the city was enough to make many soldiers begin pulling back at full pace. Some, he thought, would not be lucky enough to make it. If the last of the civilians hadn't gone onto the transports by now, it was doubtful they could evacuate any more.

"All units, fall back to the transports! Disregard procedures, we need to move now!"

Arriving at the very outskirts of the city from a terrifying sprint, Cato and his troops dug deeper upon seeing the transports. As the sounds of the falling ship were heard behind them, the last spaces of the transports were filled.

Without a moments notice, they were up in the air. Gripping solidly on a handle to steady himself, Cato viewed the destruction below. Losing the city was one thing, but he hoped losing the planet was not going to be another.

He had a fair point. At the same time, he hadn't really answered the question with anything substantial; it was only a superficial answer. Typical, really. Sith seemed so focused on one thing: fighting. It was like they didn't have an original bone in their body. It was just a cycle of different faces. A parade, really. Nothing changed. They never got control of the Galaxy, the Jedi never truly went away. What was the point of it?

Finally the Sith came at him. At the last second, Kamon activated his saber while calling the other from his belt to his free hand. A snap of the finger and the white blade of one sprang forth and dropped to meet the rising blade of the Sith. The other deftly flipped the other saber around to point towards the Sith, finger hovering over the ignition switch and forearm assisted the other arm in holding the Sith at bay, though he didn't overcommit his body.

"Your answer was superficial," he said, not activating his other blade, just using it to make a point. "Why do you fight? What purpose does it really serve?"

And beyond the Sith his eyes drifted skyward and he blinked at what he saw. The most massive of ships was breaking apart, heading towards the city.

"Well, that's a problem."

When this was over, the bear was going on a diet.

A see food diet. And perhaps hitting the gym.

Or, more likely, hitting the nap. As he set the stranger down again, Kiriko found himself winded from the exertion. Both the physical exercise and the constantly sapping energy that was dedicated to maintaining the Tapas which enabled an arctic creature to exist in such a warm environment.

"Sorry, friend."

He must have nodded off for a moment.

Shaking his head, the bear's white fur seemed to ripple like an ocean tide, as the fat rolls hugging the Beorni's frame jiggled. Snorting, Kiriko tried to shake it off. Clear headed, the knight glanced around. "Sorry for what?"

Silence there, and nothing more.

...had the bacta scientist been standing here just a moment ago? Surely the man had been right behind him. Except he wasn't there now.

The fool hadn't stepped outside had he?

Kiriko doubled back for just a moment to check. At first glance, the darkness outside hadn't even made him think twice. He'd assumed it was just smoke blotting out the sky, like on Mirial. The roar of twin ion engines caused him to look up.

Which was when he saw it.

A star destroyer, falling out of the sky.

"...oh, bother," the bear uttered.

For a moment, he considered running. For a moment, he considered saving himself. For a moment, Kiriko was afraid.

That was a star destroyer. The devastation would be nothing short of catastrophic. No hope for life. No hope for survival. Whatever the Beorni had come here to do, surely he had failed.

But life yet lived. Desperately perhaps, but there were still survivors clinging to life. To some hope of rescue. Rozh'kara, the bar maid in the cantina where Kiriko had taken refuge. Others there. Tempting fate to prove their hope wrong.

What kind of Jedi turned his back on them? What kind of Jedi surrendered the light of hope?

Hope. A light that needed to shine brightest when all other lights had gone out.

Looking away, the Beorni stared down at his own paw for a moment. What might he have said just now? I am only a bear, and not really all that knowledgeable about such things. No. He was Kiriko Howlingfjord of Midvinter. He was a Jedi Knight, just like his master before him. "...for my ally is the Force," the Beorni intoned, drawing in a breath as he looked back up at the falling star destroyer.

And saw not the loss of hope, but the challenge he must rise to meet.

All around him, he felt the life in this place. He felt the company of heroes. [member="Stephanie Swail"]. [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] "And a powerful ally it is."

The bear stretched out his paw.

He closed his eyes. Through the Force, the Beorni was aware of the many people on Thyferra. The dying. The hopeless. The wounded. The meek.

The planet was scarred.

The planet was wounded.

The planet was burning.

...yet, balance remained.

Life would find a way.

A sense of harmony washed over the bear as he stretched out with his feelings. The rocks and pebbles at his feet lifted up into the air. There was a disturbance in the Force, as something starting slowly building there at Xucphra City. He was exposed and defenseless, but seemed not to care. Not even give it a thought.

The star destroyer overhead was pressing down upon the planet.

And planet would push back.

Tiland raised his eyebrows as the attack began. Tragedy, unfortunately. So much for attempting to come with peace. But the other one was an alien that he had never seen before, like some foxy snake. It hurtled towards him with jaws and fangs open. Tiland tapped his staff on the ground as the Force flowed into him and his staff.

A flash of light burst from the head of the wooden stick. It cut through the smoke and the haze. Afterflashes sizzled through his sight, but he continued, pivoting away to the side and sliding back on his boots. As he spun to the right, the staff spun with him. He pushed through with his legs and torso. The edge of the staff cut through the air up in the air and then down towards the lizard fox thing.

Arid was engaged with the other Sith, and some sort of shockwave emanated from their duel. It wripples his robes and rugged at his beard, but he let it pass.

Things did not seem to be going well there. He would likely need the Force for healing afterwards. If only he wasn’t so cybernetic. The healing would be much more effective. Those thoughts too flowed from his mind like water off a stone, as the Force enmeshed him more fully into its currents. He danced within its folds, catching sights and flashes of the galaxy at large. But even these passed and his mind was emptied, embraced fully into the Force.
