The Commenori Await You, Madam President

Kay-Larr

Kay smirked at [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] 's comments about her security. Maybe it wasn't top notch for a Jedi, but it worked for her. Besides, it wasn't as though she was royalty or anything. She was just an elected official. Easily replaceable.

And then he mentioned the Order. "You should meet my bodyguard [member="Veiere Arenais"] . He's a Jedi too, albeit a traditional one. I know that he longs for a proper Order that he could belong to. In the meantime he watches over me and comes with me on my travels." It would be a sad day with Veiere finds what he's looking for and leaves her side. But she wasn't going to be the one to hold anyone back. That just wouldn't be fair.

And then Joshua spoke of freeing slaves. Oh how she missed those missions. Kay used to be quite good at it, but it got her into a lot of trouble too. And now, especially now, she had to stop those activities. At least she could be sure that slavery didn't exist on Commenor.

To his last comment on meeting a girl, Kay grinned. "You met a nice girl did you? Congrats. Are you going to take her out dancing?"

Easily replaceable indeed. Which was one of the reasons that the heads of a state or planet seemed to be prime targets for assassination. They could easily be removed from power and replaced with someone more... Favorable to certain agendas when you pulled on the strings enough. [member="Lady Kay"] he hoped was smart enough to know this. She had to always be cautious, or risk being the dying victim of an agenda herself.

"Oh really now?" He would inquire when she brought up her bodyguard. "Well, good luck finding one" He joked with a laugh. Josh was a man that Kay knew very well would not be hesitant one bit to speak his mind in most cases. Even if it wasn't what the opposing side wanted to hear. But it was one of the reasons that they'd been able to keep close for so long... He would never tell her a lie. "You won't in this day and age. Everyone wants to be a spiffy special snowflake and have their own Orders for their mindsets. And every governing body and their grandmothers want some kind of Force wielding special forces at their beck and call. One of the reasons I left a certain place you're very familiar with to begin with, actually... No offense."

As for freeing slaves... Well, she was free to sneak off with him and go liberate a camp anytime.

But when it came to her question about the woman he'd met, he would grin wryly. "I'm not sure if dancing is her thing, but I'll be sure to bring it up with her" The Jedi Master would joke in response with a laugh.

Well, [member="Shmi Labooda"] had already shown plenty of things she'd do that he thought she wouldn't. Was dancing one of them?

Kay couldn't hide her frown. She knew what [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] was implying. The Republic. But she wasn't like them. She wasn't even allowed in their government. But that was fine. She had found other employment. Only lately had it led to her working in politics. It just so happened to be leading this time. Kay wasn't quite sure if she was completely up to the task, but others seemed to think so.

"I hope that you don't think that I am the same way. I don't need or want a band of Force users to be at my beck and call. Veiere was looking for work and a means to be out in the Galaxy again. He's free to leave at any time. I wouldn't be that superficial." Maybe she was slightly offended. She didn't want to be labelled like so many others. She had her own secrets that kept her apart.

Kay then changed the subject back to his new girl. "Well hopefully she doesn't have two left feet like I do." She smirked. There was a reason that she hardly ever got onto a dance floor. Thankfully she was hardly ever put into the position to do so.

Ultimatum shook the hand with appropriate gentleness, given that he was one to crack jokes about the differences of organics and artificials he probably would not have been offended by a joke. He had thought about them before, as part of his attempt to understand organics he wanted the ability to replicate their humor. It was not too difficult, as most of the humor was based on sarcasm, which itself was very simple to understand and use. "The feeling is mutual."

It was good to hear that she had a friend who continued freeing slaves, it would hopefully keep Kay from attempting such things. Not that he believed she would do so, but hearing about someone else continuing her fight might make it easier for her to let go for the time being. The droid remained silent while he continued to listen, things had not been overly interesting on his end of things. At least compared to what they had been through in the past, there was little that could beat that.

[member="Lady Kay"] [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

Most of the time, he'd have probably cracked the joke. But not knowing the guy, he just flat out wasn't sure if it would be appropriate. While he was laid back, casual and open about most things, he still had a head on his shoulders. He still knew risks, and when it might not be right. He was still a Jedi Master for a reason, you know. Granted, Jedi Masters weren't known for being great at knowing social cues either...

Looking back to [member="Lady Kay"], he noted her frown, and chuckled in turn. "I don't mean you're the same. Kay-Kay. Although I do hope you don't do that" He responded. "Don't worry, I have hope for you yet" He would joke, shooting her a grin.

With subject changed, he shrugged his shoulders. "I can call her and you can ask her if you want" He joked.

She smirked as [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] called her Kay-Kay. He was lucky that he could get away with it. Especially as he let her know that she wasn't being labelled like the rest.

At his suggestion that she call up his new girl, she quickly shook her head. "No thank you. That'd be a bit awkward..." For the both of them.

Kay then looked to Ultimatum. "And what has kept you busy as of late, my friend?"

The droid found the conversation enjoyable to listen to. It was nice to hear such simple matters spoken rather than the serious talks that would undoubtedly need to be had in this room sometime in the future. When asked what he had been up to Ultimatum replied, "Nothing as interesting as we have done in the past. I met Ryn again when we were both kidnapped. Had a little bit of fun getting out of there. Made a small trip to Belsavis, looking for a friend of sorts. Trying to decide whether to give up governing Mustafar or not."

That was an important question to him, what should he do now that the government had been set up in an efficient manner. He had done what he could for the organics there, but there was no more reason for him to remain in power. He had the mines he needed and his company was quickly expanding, the people were happy but they would need a new ruler. He had his enemies on that world, perhaps he could give them a chance for the freedom they wanted by giving them the chance for leadership.

"Fairly uneventful all be told. I look forward to hearing more of your successes as the president here."

[member="Lady Kay"]

Everything seemed to be moving along smoothly, the inauguration of Commenor's new presidency had been met more so in positive light than anything, there seemed to be little an incident and eventually, Veiere found himself making his way towards the private hangar in which the Free Lady was docked. Naturally Security was everywhere, especially here as the service and maintenance crew seemed to be presiding over the care and handling of the vessel; Veiere had expected to see Terrac arguing over the management of his ship yet much to his surprise even the pilot was absent of the area. 'The Free Lady', the name was a good one given Kay's former role in the galaxy, taking it upon herself to fight against such acts like slavery and the oppression of peoples, it was what had drawn him to accompany her in her ventures and inevitably how he found himself once again mixed up in the many torrents of the Jedi Path. His own vessel however, had no such name or title to match his place in the Galaxy, whatever that was these days. The Sekallien Runner was the orginal name given by the organization that manufactured the vessels overall design, yet in the absence of something to truly occupy himself, Veiere found himself wondering if perhaps he shouldn't give her a specific name, something more personal. Cillian, his pilot would have much to say on the matter no doubt, the younger lad was energetic, smart witted and sarcastic at the best of times yet offered an amusing presence and certainly eased the transition between worlds.

Alas....-He really ought to make a move. Turning away from the Hangar, Veiere moved to continue in his walk around the perimeter of the extravagant building, was it considered a palace or a mansion? An estate of some sort that held likely things more expensive than the credits within his personal possession. Enjoying the warmth of the sunlight, he continued to walk idly, not making any plans to head on in-doors for the sake of not interrupting, he was more than happy to pace out at his own speed of things and Kay had his frequency on her comm-link if there was any real need of him.

Kay blinked in surprise. [member="Ultimatum"] wanted to give up ruling Mustafar? He was just as hard to try to figure out than most of the people that she knew and were sort of close to. Perhaps that was why at times she would forget that he was a droid. That whole line was blurred, given the adventures that they had shared together.

And then he shifted the topic from himself to her. "Well I...hope to have some successes. Truth be told, I think that some people pushed me into this so that I don't get into as much trouble as I could get into. I guess that they want me to settle down. But we know that such a thing won't be easy for me." Kay was aware that 'settling down' could mean something else entirely, and it wasn't as though that subject wasn't brought up from time to time. It was. But it was also next to impossible.

Trouble also seemed to be attracted to her like a magnet. So perhaps making her stay in one place for most of the time, would make it easier to defend her and keep any enemies at bay. Who knows really, though? She had already had visitors from the First Order come and speak with her during this campaign. And that was a little unsettling.

She looked down to the pouch in her hand. [member="Veiere Arenais"] could be pleased to know about it. He may have decided against teaching her, but perhaps crafting a new lightsaber would be a skill that he would want her to have. Especially if it meant her defending herself when he could not. Kay made a mental note to talk to him about it soon.

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] [member="Ultimatum"] [member="Lady Kay"]

James lost himself in the reviere for the moment. He must not have realized how much ale he had before stepping off the Angel's Glory. Heh. He had to be more careful about that. He wasn't twenty anymore, he couldn't keep drinking like it. Not that he was about to let that decide if he kept this heavy drinking up or not... he just needed to be more conscious of it.

"We do need to keep ye safe, sis," he said with a rare air of absolute seriousness in his voice, "Ye are one of the few good people left in this galaxy. Evil always chases to corrupt and try to destroy the good in this galaxy," It already got to me. he added quietly to himself. James knew he was beyond redemption, and didn't care as much. If he was destined to burn, he would burn protecting those he loved most, "I managed to keep and get Tharxis at bay, but there will be others who try and come for ye."

He snapped his fingers, "Oh and speaking of safety I have a bit of a housewarming gift for ye." He dug in his jacket pocket and handed his sister a holoprojector with his new defense satellite schematics on it, "I have enough of these for ye to surround Commenor with an invisible net. Installed them around Soceras after we got shelled, they will be enough to stop most pirate fleets and make em think twice before they try and feth with ye."

Yes, [member="James Justice"] managed to keep [member="Thraxis"] away from her, even stopped him from torturing her. He was still one of her top rivals and probably always will be. "Thank you for that, James."

Then he handed her the schematics for the defence satellite. It was amazing and perfect. With the warehouses, they could easily store in the supplies for the crews and shuttle them up. She just needed to get everyone trained. Kay beamed and hugged her brother tightly. "Thank you! This is exactly what we need!" Already she thought of the various threats that could be stopped by it. Pirates weren't so much her worry as others were. She had to worry about invading armies. But now Commenor would have another line of defence. It was perfect.

It was a great many hours later. The festivities had calmed, and aside from the security at the presidential compound, all of [member=Lady Kay]'s guests had departed.

All save one.

It was late when near silent feet touched down on the balcony railing. Stepping down, the cloaked figure opened the doors in from the balcony with a wave of a gloved hand.

Moving silently, the shrouded individual sought their quarry. She was found, brushing her hair, likely in preparation for bed, as they stepped out into the dim lighting. An opaque, black mask was worn, giving the black clad individual the appearance of an assassin.

The vocabulator of the mask gave the speaker a faint, hissing quality to their voice, as an androgynous voice spoke to the woman. "Madam President..." the masked individual spoke, giving a polite bow. "I've come to congratulate you on your election...."

Gloved hands moved towards the mask, revealing a pair of twin, curve hilt light sabers at the figures hips. A snap and a hiss, as the pressurized mask was removed.

Familiar golden eyes would stare back at Kay, a warm smile on feline features. The long lost brother returned. "Congratulations, Kay."

Kay was brushing her hair, sitting at her vanity of her new bedroom above her office. She was wearing a long white nightgown that maintained her modesty, should unexpected arrivals come by or some emergency take place that needed her quick attention.

She didn't even notice [member="Ryn'Dhal"] as he was an expert at being silent with his padded feet, that is until he spoke. Kay froze in place and then turned around, her features brightening up. "Ryn!" She dropped her brush from the vanity and get to her feet, hurrying towards him as she then wrapped her arms around her long lost brother. Usually she was on rescue missions to find him, but not today. "Oh it's so good to see you! I'm so glad that you came. I've missed you, dear brother!"

Features brightened as she embraced him. "And I, you." he replied, smiling warmly. "I have been.... around.... all day. Your speech was moving. But, I have not yet shed my 'need' of my mask, and so, I felt it'd be prudent to not cause turmoil by presenting myself enshrouded in the public. Force knows how that would have looked." He'd state, chuckling.

Gazing about, he took in the level of luxury afforded to the Lady.... no, President Kay. "I would hazard to say, you have done quite well for yourself. You have done great things, great things. And now, you are reaping some of the rewards." He'd pause, mid-musing, before chuckling softly. That gentle, melodic sound. "Though, I do not envy the paperwork that likely accompanies such a position as the one you now hold."

Clearing his throat, the young Knight would smile shyly. "And, as I am certain that I am out of propriety now, in a Lady's bed-chambers, with said lady in night-gown. Sister or not, I should bid my farewell. I am back on the grid, so you can definitely get a hold of me should you need me. I'll never be far." He'd say, smiling once more with the youthful warmth Kay would be more accustomed to.

[member=Lady Kay]

Kay looked about her bedchambers. Perhaps it was quite luxurious. Maybe she earned it. But the paperwork involved, and the meetings and the constant work, did balance it all out. Now was not the time to stop working.

She smiled as [member="Ryn'Dhal"] let her know that he was going to be close, even if she didn't see him. "Thank you. I would much rather live in a small cabin in the woods by a stream than here, but beggars can't be choosers. And besides, it's only for a little while. But having you here will make it feel more like home. I just hope that I don't get into too much trouble for you." She winked as she smiled once more. Having him here did make her feel more confident. Maybe this was the right thing for her to do afterall.

Grinning broadly, he moved towards the doors opening out to her personal balcony. "Kay, you wouldn't be you if you didn't get into some trouble every once in a while." Pulling his helmet back on, the opaque face-plate snapping and pressurizing with a -hiss-. His voice once again came out with that eerie, artificial hiss. "But, trouble or no, I'll be around. Just give me a call, and I'll be there."

He'd open the doors, and step out onto the balcony. Scanning the surroundings for the best path of departure, he'd give a slight nod. Looking back to Kay once more, the young Knight would bow deeply. "Farewell, till next time." He'd say. Turning, he willed the Force through his being. The sinews of flesh within his legs bolstered, tightening as he crouched. Suddenly, all that force exploded forth as he propelled himself off of the balcony in a flash, leaping out into the night. For all intents and purposes, to an untrained eye, it appeared almost as if he simply disappeared.

With that, the [member=Lady Kay]'s loyal guardian angel was gone, off to haunt the night, keeping her immediate domain safe.

Veiere had kept his distance for a reasonable time now, he'd traveled the outskirts of the Palace's grounds several times to ensure that all was well with the make-shift security team still not accustomed to serving under a former Jedi Knight nor the [member="Lady Kay"] Larr. He had his reasons for avoiding the others, not one to dabble to heavily in the matters of politics yet still caught up in it all through his ties and growing attachments to the Madame President, his sense of integrity was not lost on him and eventually he would make his way on inside to liaise with those keeping tabs on the going on's in doors. For the most part it seemed as though many if not all of the guests of Kay's had left or were atleast in the process of moving on. Pleased with this, the robed figure moved further into the center of the facility seeking out where he assumed Kay might be. Not wrong in his assumptions, he only paused a moment when a curious presence passed him by, that of [member="Ryn'Dhal"] whom carried a rather intense force signature yet harbored no alarming traits as far as Veiere could decipher in their brief interaction. Delivering the other a curt nod and showing nothing in the way of his awareness that the guess was anything but that, he continued, rounding the hallway corner and entering the room to which he could see Kay going about her business.

"I trust it's all gone about as well as you expected..." Veiere entered with a fond smile and no lack of restraint in speaking to her in greeting, soon dipping his head formally and adding her well deserved title, "Lady President". There had not been an incident between the two since the rogue that had tried to assault her following her speech leading up to the vote for candidacy, on the day Veiere had managed to shield her from the impact of a small explosive piece thrown their way; ever since that day too, the old Jedi had never really let things go casually when it came to her well being and protection. "The grounds are secure, all are on their way out and your people have little to report aside from a good long day with a very positive outcome for Commoner....-You regretting it all yet?" He chuckled quietly under his breath before moving to take a seat for himself, his formerly official persona sinking away in her presence.

Kay laughed a little at [member="Ryn'Dhal"] 's comment on her always getting into some sort of trouble. Of course it was true. Yet the same thing could be said about him, for she had helped to save him a few times. But it was nice to know that he was going to be around.

As [member="Veiere Arenais"] entered and gave his report, she bowed her head. The title that he gave her made her laugh a little. "I'll have to get used to that. It still feels strange. As for regretting it? Maybe a little. Getting showered with gifts is a bit unusual for me. Some of them will be great for Commenor while one..." She smiled a little as she reflected on it, "...will be good for me. Something that was once stolen is now returned to me. All in all, I'd say that things are looking up."

Veiere bowed respectfully in acknowledgement of her thanks and then turned in his seat, towards the nearest window to gaze outside in quiet thought, Kay speaking and he listening though his mind also on the future ahead for the pair of them. "I do hope you don't mind that I kept my distance for this one. As far as I could hear across the comm-channels, the people visiting were all trusted and thoroughly investigated before being allowed entry as they were; I didn't see a need to introduce myself and complicate matters when things outside needed attending to" He then returned his attention to that of [member="Lady Kay"] a moment, a slim smile escaping him. "I won't stay long now that it seems most of the ceremony has been done and dealt with. You know I'm not exactly comfortable amidst all this political business though I'll see to it you are well and secure here with the rest of your staff before moving off to meet with Cillian. The Lad seems to think I've no sense of culture in what I've asked him to purchase on my behalf for the new homestead you've acquired for me. Of which I do owe you a great deal, for the record" He nodded firmly in his own remark, ensuring that she would see that he genuinely meant to pay her back for all that she had done for him. Somehow.

Admittedly, there wasn't a great deal else to be said. He was her bodyguard and charged with her security; yet he doubted that she would need his services so completely when she sat within the grounds surrounded by Commoner's private security officers who had been trained for such tasks; not to mention that he didn't wish to keep her from the work she was no doubt needing to get too so soon after her confirmation as the new Madame President. "If there's nothing else you need from me, M'lady; perhaps it's a good time for me to move on and discuss the plans around your personnel in a more long term approach. I wouldn't mind looking into some of the officers you currently have on station, background checks and the like. Make sure they're the right people for the job...I do not plan to leave your protection to chance, naturally."

"No, I don't mind that you kept back. After what had happened during the campaign, well, it's understandable. And the only ones to see me after my speech were my closest friends. No dignitaries or anyone just yet." Kay was still getting used to it all, especially with having security around her almost all of the time. She glanced around the room, wondering if she was being monitored in here too, or if it was one of a few private places in the Presidential Palace.

She smiled as [member="Veiere Arenais"] mentioned apparent lack of culture that Cillian deemed him to have, and of his thanks for the residence that she had picked out for him. "You are most welcome. I hope that after you are all settled in, that I might be able to drop by for a visit. It could be a good break from all of the meetings and speeches. Of course if you don't want me to, then that's alright too." It wasn't as though she wanted to impose on him.

At his request to look into the security team that was already on hand for her, she went over to her night stand and pickrd up her datapad. She turned it on, sifted through some of the files and them walked over to Veiere, handing the datapad to him. "Here you are. Names, pictures, a bit of their history. You can cross reference them or whatever it is that you need to do." Einon was one on her security detail that she just knew was steadfast in his job. She had a feeling that she wouldn't be able to get away with much with him around. But they'd have to see who was the most stubborn out of the two. Kay figured that it was herself, hands down.
