It would have been too easy.
Nevertheless, Eleena grunted before straightening out her break and pulling the Queen’s nose slightly up, intending to gain altitude and therefore, potential energy, in order to seize at least one advantage in the dogfight. A thought activated the afterburners, the twin ion engines beneath her giving a primal roar as the Twi’lek extracted as much speed as she could out of them. Speed, in its most pure and raw form, was the strength of the Loralora and by extension, her Queen. As such, Eleena had honed her riding style to accommodate that, frequently making use of boom-and-zoom tactics to engage enemy craft.
“I see it. Teardrop.” Eleena answered. “Climbing, climbing, and...circling back, now!” Eleena continued, as she suddenly shifted her body across her bike, rolling the machine to port in order to draw a bead on one of the two TIEs, the enemy pilot likely trying to get a lock on Teardrop’s airspeeder. Just then, her eyes went wide as the airspeeder pulled a Split S in tight, dazzling fashion, cutting a path through the middle of the two TIEs.
Leveling her wings, Eleena leaned to starboard, driving her swoop in the same direction towards the TIE going south. However, sensing that she was closing too fast on her target, Eleena pulled back on the vanes, turning the Queen’s nose up and rolling, thereby bringing her swoop back on the six of the bandit in a less drastic lead pursuit.
Then, she willed the cannons to fire.
A salvo of magenta lances exploded against, then broke through the TIE’s titanium hull, the craft spewing flames as it was dashed from the heavens. Eleena gave a breath of relief, though comm chatter soon caught her attention, including the voice of her wing mate, Isena.
“White flag signals are transmitting from the base, repeat, white flag signals are transmitting in.” The Echani's voice echoed out over comms.
“Confirmed! They’re breaking off from our squadrons.” The missile boat squadron leader added.
“What about the corvettes?” Lexi spoke up.
As if on cue, shockwaves rippled across the air as the two Raider-class corvettes slipped into hyperspace, along with the ten Law-class patrol craft.
The Legatus’ roared, his sweaty features on display as he stomped through his office in Crimson Night after hearing the news, his hands clenched in fists which were promptly pounded against a nearby console like a child in the midst of a tantrum.
“How? How could he? This was meant to be the end! A symbol of what I’ve accomplished on Riflor after all these years! Order, peace, purity, prosperity!” He cried. “We were on the verge of greatness! We were this close!”
A short pause.
“Legatus, w-we also received word that...t-the package was destroyed.” The officer continued, her voice breaking slightly as she spoke. “We believe that it was a...snap decision from Director-”
“To rob me of my legacy?! To take everything that we worked for and throw it away?! To give the realm away to a Witch Queen?! No! I will not have it! I will not let it stand!” The Legatus continued, fuming, yet now seeming to calm down as she took a white cloth from his desk and wiped it across his brow.
“What are your orders sir?”
“Marlon Sularen and the Final Dawn...they will wait.” He began, his breath heavy with exertion.
“We are not yet finished with Riflor or the Unknown Regions.”
