The Great Escape [Mysa]

It seemed to take Mysa a great deal of effort to be seated in the saddle, wriggling about like she had ants in her pants. Which was to be expected, Théo was not a veteran either, in fact it was his first time atop a horse. "I am not little! .. oomph!" The wind in his lungs rudely expelled when Wriggles took hold of him! "Just .. just hang on to me so you don't fall off", in reality Théo hoped Mysa hanging onto him would stop him falling off. Théo took hold of her hands and placed them around his waist, she could grip the fur for more security if she needed. This was not ending well! he thought, gosh having a girl holding him was not his idea of a good ending to the day. But still .. he smiled because Théo secretly liked Mysa's company, she is alright, a good stick as they say .. whoever They are. And he loves her, she is his sister and would do anything to protect her.

As the Shieldmaiden began to lead to mare toward Tháinbroek, Théo held the pommel with one hand and a fist of mane with the other. From time to time, he felt his bottom slipping off the saddle but would correct himself with the aid of the stripes. Finally the gates to the capital loomed large in the foreground, Aerin leading the way up the slope and as they approached, the Shieldmaiden's name was heralded on her arrival. She informed them both that they would arrive at the step of the grand hall soon after which Aerin would leave them to stable her mare and speak with her King and friend, Thrand.

Upon arriving to the step Aerin waited for them to dismount, for Mysa it would be easier if he went first and so Théo jumped down. Valkyri nearby would stop and watch, bowing in respect to both the children and the Shieldmaiden before going back to their chores. When Mysa would join him, Théo turned to her and in an unexpected move from the boy, he hugged her with a smile but a small whisper of words rarely spoken. "I love you sister".

Pulling back from her, a little embarrassed by his own words, Théo bowed to Aein a low and deep bow before eyeing off the vast wooden double doors of the Grand Hall. "Race you to the top!", and he was off!

Mysa most definitely did not enjoy the ride back home. While she liked the mare, the fact that they bumped around so much and felt so uneasy made her feel queasy and unstable. She clutched onto Théo for dear life and buried her face down against his back to keep herself from being jolted too heavily. The cold sharp air was refreshing as it hit her exposed cheeks, yet all the little Umbaran wanted was for the whole experience to be over.

So it was that when she heard the general chitter chatter of cold men and women going about their days work, of children running freely or grumbling as they were asked to assist, Mysa finally lifted her head and peered around. Home. It felt like years had passed since the pair had set off that morning, before even the beasts of the land had awoken, so much had happened. It had been quite the adventure!

Théo was the first to dismount the mare, so Mysa swiftly followed suit though not with any great ease. Still feeling nauseous the little girl stumbled upon the landing and ended up on her knees in the soggy snow. No doubt when she did finally refind her feet she would find her trousers caked with mud, but she didn't care to look because almost immediately after Théo embraced her and whispered four small words.

"I love you too, Brother!" she remarked, eyes wide as the pair broke from their affectionate little hug. Mysa smiled as the boy blushed and hastily bowed to the woman who had escorted them back home. Instead of following suit, Mysa simply stared, a little intimidated by the redhead, and hurried after her brother as he fled up the steps toward their Grandfather's abode - the place he had first met the Heavenshields. The place she had found her family.
