The Holocron Auction Redux

Sargon decided if he had to wait he might as well wait with a friend. Opening a channel to Master Jedi @[member="Darron Wraith"], ::private room D, Master, would you care for a hand of sabaac while this is sorted out?::

Selena sighed as a significant number of military walkers directed by some unknown person fleeing the scene defied the orders of the local police. This was frustrating to her immensely. Why were these walkers even present, she wondered. After all, most civilized planets were not exactly open to letting large private armies onto the planet. Typically that was frowned upon. But Contruum's inept leadership was quickly becoming her problem. Selena already vastly disliked this planet after the way her last trip here had gone, and she did not exactly hold its people in high esteem. In fact, many of them struck her as monsters. However, having an armed convoy leaving the planet by force did not seem in the best interest of any party.

Attacking it the streets would be difficult. She pinched her nose as she debated courses of action. "Relay a message to the convoy leaving over loud speaker that we do have fighters in the sky. Attempts to flee will be met with significant force and their elimination is likely. They are to power down their vehicles and lay down their arms or face defeat." She disliked giving the message but it had to be done. Force was necessary if resistance was met, as much as they did not want it to exist.

If Aleidis Ijet was surprised to see the massive Whiphid phase through the viewscreen of her ship and dramatically appear, it didn't show on her face. The man who'd blown up Rhoomasol and Osarian, weilder of the Darkstaff, and one of the few men in the Galaxy she could point down and declare to be a monster. The young Ghostling drew herself up to her full height - which was rather laughable by comparison - and stared him down while the bridge crew gaped in shock.

"Evacuate the ship." Aleidis ordered simply. She'd heard what Velok could do - a Force Storm at this range would spell certain doom for every soul aboard. When her officers started and hesitated, she repeated herself. "Evacuate the ship now. That's an order!" And just like that, they began to disperse. None of them really wanted to leave a sixteen year old to fight the monster, but all of them knew that collateral damage wasn't something Velok really cared about.

Aleidis took two steps to the left, retrieving a thin lightfoil from the pockets of her blue-and-white robes. She didn't light it, yet - simply holding the weapon was threat enough, and it's familiar weight in her hand was enough comfort to stave off the raw animal fear she felt. Ghostlings were a frail people, a prey race. Whiphids were very much the opposite. "Velok, by my authority as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, I am placing you under arrest." Alei promised forcefully. "Lay down your weapons and submit to Republic law. Going peacefully is in your best interests."

Aleidis's form shimmered and split as she took a step to the right and left at the same time - a trio of young women with black eyes and grim expressions faced down the Whiphid. The True form of the Chancellor stayed directly in front of the Monster known as Velok, while her two illusions moved to flank him.

A slight gasp exited from between her teeth as she heard a bit of news over her comm-link, the flagship was being assaulted. Though it was unclear by whom, Diana had a strong guess and a feeling in the force that told her who. She scowled, she wanted to retrieve the artifacts, but she had a personal vendetta against the orchestrator of all of this. She bit her lip, conflict raging inside of her.

If she returned to the fleet it would likely take too much time, she wouldn't get there in time to help the Chancellor, even more so she would probably be going against a direct order from Aleidis herself. Diana didn't know what to do. Every single muscle in her body was screaming at her to turn back and return to the chancellor, to find Velok and end his tyranny once and for all. Diana looked at their surroundings, the dozens of Jedi, the republic guards, the people who were fleeing the auction house. A slight sigh escaped her again. “I'm sorry Master Halcyon, but I have to go.”

With those words she turned tail and ran. She ran as fast as her feet would carry her back to the nearest starship. She found the fastest one, and headed back towards the flagship.

Vulpesen's eyes widened as he witness the appearance of Velok. Sure, he'd intended to someday fight sith, but today was not that day. He'd heard of the Whipid's actions and had no intent to be wrapped up in them. Realizing he was outmatched, he followed the crew to evacuate, cursing himself. As he came to his own ship, he quickly jumped into the cockpit clicked in the controls. Just as he was about to activate the take off sequence, he realized what he was doing. "I am Vulpesen Espadus Torrevaso.... not some womprat who only takes while the bounty is good." He opened the cockpit and jumped out. Granted he was a padawan and would likely be verbally pummeled by the masters, but he was never one to run away while one of his people was in trouble. Times had changed. Before he was a street rat worrying about a slicer, now he was a jedi padawan worrying about one of the most influential people in the galaxy. Yes, times had changed. He had not.

"Go then, protect the Chancellor as best as you can." She disliked letting a Knight go for such a task. Selena thought that it was she who should go, but the young woman had jumped to that task. Selena also had to monitor the situation with the walker column and the over all situation involving the Auction House.

If Velok was surprised by the display of illusion, he didn't show it. His fur brushed the ceiling of the bridge as he took a long step forward and to the left, away from the stress point in the transparisteel. The Darkstaff settled into a two-handed grip, and the evacuating bridge crew slowed in their movements. His style was Force Drain, Spear of Midnight Black, Force Bellow, lightning, and Djem So. All offense, all crude by some estimations. The Darkstaff hummed and squalled in his hands as Force Drain tapped a little energy from them, increasing the staff's reserves. It did not, however, replenish the strength he'd spent on the Force Phantom. He'd had to keep balance between his own reserves and tapping the Darkstaff's moderate charge. Balance was, all things considered, difficult to achieve, and he was a little tired.

Yellow eyes lost focus. He had no way to tell which, if any, was the real her. No physical sense or Force instinct could differentiate the three girls. There was only one way to oppose this: Area-of-effect.

The Force drain intensified to ribbons of yellow light, concentrating on these three targets. A very skilled illusionist could make them respond as if drained, and in realistic ways. There might, however, be a delay between the real girl's reaction and the illusory echoes. Possibly.

In Umbris Potestas Est
A lone Centaurus-class Resupply ship floated into the area. Piloted by a pair of droids, the ship was empty, full of absolutely no armaments. The droids quickly pinpointed the location of the various ships and whatnot that were surrounding the planet and moved closer to the Republic command ship, the one with the empty fighter floating in front of it. The Centaurus was a resupply ship, and at the moment, it only made sense for them to do their duty - recover a fighter with an assumedly dead pilot.

Slowly moving towards the screen, the Chancellor and her comrades would be treated to a most humorous sight as they and Velok monologued back and forth, eventually devolving into fighting: the Centaurus silently docking to the top of Velok's Aleph-class fighter, beginning to haul it away. Once moving behind the lone capital ship's guns, the vessel and its new cargo would be sent by the droid pilots into hyperspace. The two cheekily high-fived with their rather limited appendages as the vessel exited the area.

Attempting to remote-trace the hyperspace coordinates from the ship's navicomputer would prove to be exceptionally difficult: the system was intentionally scramble-locked, a random code altering itself each microsecond as to not be broken, no key or pattern available for breaking. Only the first coordinates were visible, and they seemed to be constantly cycling as well, as though the ship had been sent on a random hyperspace jump to an unknown point in the galaxy. Of course, anyone who was fast enough to examine the numerous random numbers being shifted through would notice that the seemingly generic locations were within a particularly large square that consisted of many possible systems. In reality, the droids had been programmed to make a half-dozen random jumps in that square before jumping to their actual final destination.

Thule.

Domino had accomplished the massive feat of bringing in her escorts that @[member="Selena Halcyon"] now bemoaned by the simple means of landing them and saying 'hi!' and then doing absolutely nothing hostile besides possibly crowding out some civilians from the surrounding shops as the Guard took a well deserved break. The loudspeaker threat was met with the protective coverings over each Hammer's missile pods flipping up as they activated their anti-air defensive systems. A raised hand from Domino flicking to either side of the column had her commander speaking into his mike, sending her forces filtering into the surrounding streets and spreading out as they continued forward, arms at the low-ready now. Their response was easy to read, they weren't stopping and would be more than willing to fight, and likely wreck large portions of the city around them.

A particularly attentive Jedi commander might have wondered just where this large group of armed men intended to escape to. There was nothing in the direction they were headed save the edge of town and a rather large field.

Aleidis Zrgaat

A skilled illusionist was Aleidis Ijet, but she'd been a healer longer than she'd been an illusionist. She felt the tuggings of Force Drain, but her own deep reserves of energy prevented her from bowing to the fatigue it inspired as she replenished herself in pace with the drain. "You intend to resist arrest? Very well." The Ghostling said flatly, the green blade of her Lightfoil igniting. She brought her saber up in front of herself, legs together, and gave the slightest of bows. A three-fold traditional Makashi salute.

That was the only courtesy he'd be afforded. The two girls moving to flank Velok dashed forward, seeking to strike and harry his flanks. Even if he knew the White Current dopplegangers were illusory, a Force-User didn't live to be very old without the instincts to intercept, block or dodge incoming saber strikes, right? The center Aleidis - the true Aleidis - raised her hand and mental defenses, beginning her true attack.

She assaulted Velok's twisted mind from all angles, trying to find a chink in his mental armor - to sneak forgien thoughts in. He'd done so much so far, hadn't he? Wasn't it time to take a break? Surely dueling an illusionist was so tiring, that it'd just be easier to go peacefully and try to escape another time? The dark power of the staff was incredibly heavy. The hour was long, and he was far from young. It'd be wiser to sit down. To rest and sleep. To regain his strength before fighting anew.

After word that the Chancellor was in danger reached Diana, Daella also left with Diana to assist the Chancellor. She gave no word of the reasoning behind her decision to depart. She simply gave a shallow nod toward @[member="Selena Halcyon"] before turning to follow @[member="Diana Moridena"].

Boarding the same ship as Diana, Daella would have reached @[member="Aleidis Ijet"] at the same time that Diana did.

Rule number one of fighting multiple people: Don't get flanked.

Velok did not have that luxury. Not with the bridge roof overhead and the window behind him. Not with his space suit still encumbering him. He moved to block one of the sabres, and felt either a whisper-thin impact or the White Current echo of one -- either way, it was too delicate for the hulking Whiphid to notice. The other sabre slipped past the staff and its tip struck his upper right arm; a touch of pain sparked through his mind, maybe real, maybe not. For once, the delicacy and weakness associated with Aleidis Ijet was working in her favor.

That gave her the chink in his armor. He staggered briefly, eyes narrowing. He resented age; he'd spent too long with a nephrostomy tube protruding from his kidney and a bag of urine strapped to his leg. His Force Drain on the three girls had netted zero visible results, maybe meaning that all of them were doppelgangers, though the staff certainly seemed to have consumed a little something. True area-of-effect would have to wait for a pause, since either one of the two beside him could be the problem -- or the one actually raising her hand could be the real one -- but a talented illusionist could pull that off-

The Darkstaff whirled around him, creating space, and he drew breath for a Force Bellow that ripped up the bridge deck plating, tore into the ceiling, and filled the bridge with shockwave. The entire face of his space suit ripped off in the process.

Flashes of blue echoed out, and meant the occasional stunned man. Resistance in the surroundings was mostly from the locals, a handful of whom were none too happy to have armed troopers just barging into their daily lives. Thankfully the call to use nonlethal ammunition was a well made one, the exit points now from the gathering were becoming increasingly well cut off, with small lightly equipped squads covering them, and moving quickly to secure the key points. Still some of the confusion from the locals meant that not every exit from the area was completely covered. Certainly not a riot, but a small boisterous crowd had gathered not far from Kei and he was doing his best to settle it down.

The situation was contained for now however, but it wouldn't take much to set it off if someone had the mind to. Local police were of course thankfully in the area, and the presence was only growing as they relayed where his unit was needed and when.

Keeping moving, fast and light to support the combined forces' action, this was the unit's strength. He'd received word that some droids had the potential for hostility not far from his present position, taking three of the unit's best squads under his wing he hightailed it to track them. The droids had the advantage of distance, and of course massive numbers, but being lightly armed as they were, the wildcards were gaining on their position rather rapidly.

Head down, the teams in grey and white urban camo blended in well to the streets. Double timing it behind cover, binoculars raised, he pulled up for a look at what they were up against. "This is Saber 17, All I see is an empty field ahead of them." He called over the comm-link to @[member="Selena Halcyon"]. "Instructions?" Far enough out of range that hopefully the unit had not been spotted, they were hanging back for now, vastly outnumbered but able to track just where these droids went.

Vulpesen Raced down the halls, putting his hand on the old vibrosword that had served him so well the past two years. He doubted it would be much help should he end up in a fight, but it did make him feel better. He felt even better than before when he found @[member="Daella Apparine"] and @[member="Diana Moridena"] had both joined him in his thoughts of helping the Chancellor.

Scouts informed Selena that the walkers evidently were also equiped with anti-air missiles. This was getting more tiresome. Selena was confident that runs could easily be made upon the column. The only hazard was life, and Selena valued that. She valued the life of the pilots, the civilians that would likely die simply because of the cross fire, potential deaths due to falling fighters, and she even valued the lives of those resisting detainment. It was all rather tiresome to balance the necessity of duty and the love for life. Of course, justice was an important matter as well. The lives of those in the fighters were already willing to give themselves up for success, and those resisting had essentially forfeited kindness. Civilians were a sad possible loss though and justice could hardly be brought to them. The balance was hard.

The column was moving to the edge of the town. Essentially no where. Something evidently was amiss. As fleeing into an open field would be more of a hindrance. Sure, staying in one location was a poor move as well. But fleeing to a field brought the potential for orbital action into play. However, it was not as if ships could be hidden there really. Such impossibilities were well... impossible.

"Position heavy weaponry at their escape vector. If they push out fire on them. If we have any Jedi pilots in the air. Tell them to prepare to use their torpedos to be used as shadow bombs that they will direct through the force in order to stay away from possible missile lanes from the walkers. Hit their forewardmost walkers with them. Slow them down."

The dark staff, among the most evil and darkest stains on the force in the galaxy. There was simply no way to disguise it's use not from anyone even remotely listening to the force, and Sargon alone in his private room was. It left a sickening feeling in him that made him instantly vomit. With only the hesitation of wiping the remains off his mouth he keyed in a secure frequency to his ship. ::Defender, you are to immediately jump into the system. I want weapons and shields ready for action. All birds are to be launched immediately. I want an instant sitrep once you get in the system. You should already be jumping::

Cutting that off he opened another to the Grand Admiral ::Grand Admiral, I believe the dark staff is being used. An incredible wave of darkness just hit me powerfully enough to have physical effects. If we have any additional assets in the area they may be required::

A deep breath. The same attack he'd used to devastating effect on Tython. Aleidis was ready for it, having watched the fight's recordings and found out all she could. That didn't mean that the Force Bellow was something she could take head-on, however. All three Aleidis Ijet's took a step back and crossed their arms over their faces, to convey a sense of trying to endure the mighty attack - while Aleidis abandoned the third form, leaving it to stand in the wake of the attack while she ducked, invisible, behind a hefty command console. Granted, the Force Bellow was sound, and sound wouldn't be stopped by a thick obstacle - but it could be obstructed, and the impact lessened.

Shockwaves of force tore through the command deck, blowing apart frail monitors and sending anything not bolted down flying outward. Aleidis could feel the vibrations coursing through her body, through her bones. Ducking behind the command console hadn't saved her from damage completely, but it had saved her from getting blown to pieces.

All three illusory Ijets were blown around the room like ragdolls, and only one slowly stood up. Two of them disappeared completely, but the third reached into her satchels and produced a small rebreather. Je'Gan had taught Aleidis that sickness could be conveyed through the White Current, but she'd never mastered the skill. She'd asked him, as a Padawan and as a knight how to weaken her opponent without hurting them or killing them. This was her attempt to do so.

Fitting her own rebreather on - to lend credence to the illusion - Aleidis stood up from behind the command console and together, the two girls pulled two blinking canisters from their pockets each. These canisters were tossed around the command deck, filling it with a thick haze of purple gas. The grenades were, naturally, completely false constructs. "Take another deep breath, Velok. That's Protectorate-issued Sleep Gas, designed to but Force Users into a quick coma in a pinch." Aleidis challenged, as the purple 'fog' from four combined grenades reduced visibility to nearly nothing.

The drowsiness would rely on her ability to keep up the mental assault and whether or not Velok believed the entirely-believable lie that she was carrying sleep gas grenades - if he accepted the lie, then it'd be easier to keep up the assault of fatigue. Aleidis had cut her illusion-selves down from three to one (meaning that there were now two Alei's hiding in the mist) to cut down on the amount of focus so many illusions demanded and put more power behind her mental assaults.

He knew of the White Current, but he didn't know it. He couldn't perceive it in action, couldn't especially counter it. And thus, his eyes began to drift closed, even as he began a poison-detoxification trick of thought. If he believed he was countering it, that belief had the same weight as his belief that he was being drugged to sleep. But at a guess, Aleidis could keep up her pressure longer than he could use detoxify poison. Maybe. In either case, she could manifestly apply illusion while he focused on the detox.

The staff, however, had its benefits. He released the parcel of power he'd accumulated from weakening the bridge crew and slightly draining Aleidis. Because his focus remained on the detox, his secondary effort needed to be...simple. A single bolt of lightning, for whichever one of them happened to be on the left.

As the Sith Master and Jedi Master fought on the bridge of the ship Diana Moridena was having her own personal fight. She and Daella had boarded a small two person attack craft of which Diana did not know the name, though she did know that it was very fast. This was to their advantage as they broke through the atmosphere and into space in almost no time at all. The fight came when she realized that she had absolutely no idea how to land the ship once they actually drew close to the flagship.

She frowned slightly as they came closer and closer to the Ship. “Crap.”

She uttered out loud as the fighter they were in zoomed past several ships within the Republic Task Force. Quickly they came upon the Flagship of the fleet and Diana began to panick. She had no idea what to do! Of course she knew to head to the hangar but what then. Quickly she began to pull on the yolk of the ship, pressing buttons and attempting to begin some sort of auto-landing feature.

Her efforts however were in vain and a few seconds later Daella and Diana found themselves crashing into the wing of Veloks Aleph fighter craft. The two ships collided, Diana's and Daella's suffering a moderate amount of damage. The craft spun out of control, twisting and turning over and over again. “MAYDAY MAYDAY!”

Diana screamed into her headset hoping that somebody would hear her. Luckily someone did, and almost immediately a tractor beam locked itself onto the small craft. The Beam began to pull the Daella and Diana into the flagship as the young girl hung her head in shame.
