The House of Broken Steel [Mando Open Thread]

A lot of hands started reaching for weapons. If history had any indication, things would go awry very quickly for this group unless the tension was eased. Cory recognised the voice, rising slowly from the bench she stepped towards the door. "Easy, Ba'vodu." She raised her hands. "We're trying to work out how to steal a tonne of beskar from the sith, seeing as they now hold Manda'yaim and most of Mandalorian space. Maybe you can put your weapons away and help us."

She lowered her hands. "Obran is right, we've no hope of hitting the shipment before Bespin, besides which, Ori'verd wanted us to stop the project and taking one shipment of beskar away won't stop the sith from getting more and completing it. We have to hit the station. I can get us there without being detected, together, but we're going to need blueprints or at the very least location of the control room. Locate the ship, take it and set the station to self destruct and destroy whatever plans they've got hiding there."

"Maybe do it the other way around. We're talking about a huge station in the Bespin atmosphere. Seems to me the simplest thing is to hit the repulsors. Maybe it puts the station down, maybe it just sparks an evacuation. Maybe we take the place lock stock and barrel. I'm not particular about our approach. Just a thought."

Tyran paid no mind to the di'kut yelling for them all to put their hands up or he was going to turn them into jelly, there were more pressing matters to deal with right now. "If hijacking the shipment on its way to the facility is out then storming the facility is the only option left to us. I don't agree with just disabling its repulsors because we have no idea how complete this beskar star destroyer is. If we take out the station but the star destroyer has the ability to travel, then we're screwed."

"We're going to need to destroy this thing beyond repair, which means we will need a map of this facility. Which means we need to hit another Sith facility first and get the plans for the Bespin facility, it'll probably be best to take a large chunk of other data too so we can mask what our ultimate goal is. Once we have a map of the facility, we infiltrate it and locate the star destroyer and trigger some kind of critical failure in its power core. That should take care of the ship and the facility and give the Sith a good kick in the groin."

Atin waved his hand at the screaming man, "Calm down. We are your friends." he stated before removing his helmet to show off a genuine smile. "We don't have to board the ship, If we attacked while it is docked at the station we can take out it's gravity wells suspending it in the atmosphere. Bring it down into the Gas Giant and let it crush everything. It won't have time to launch itself from the bay and save itself from being destroyed." Atin stood proud at his suggestion, rubbing his chin he spoke once more "We can use my ship, It's fast and strong just like us. With the Airlocks in the back we can deploy using our jet-packs against them. Stay behind it and get in range. Let my Pilot Droid take over once we all landed on the platform." He reached over grabbing a metal rod as he began to draw in the dirt.

"We have fireteams, perhaps. Go for different objectives. Secure the Hanger for our escape, go for the Command room to jam their communications for reinforcements and control over the facility. Send a demolition team to the generators that keep it in the air while the rest of the Security is busy dealing with us. Really show those Sith dogs who they've messed with!" dirt. His eyes looked up from the crude plan in the dirt, smiling at his Brothers and Sisters around him. It had been a long time since he's been engaged with anyone of his family, his Clan was long dead and his hope shattered.

But this? This gave him hope for the future, it sparked his faith in the Mandalorians once more. He was ready to fight alongside them, even though he didn't know any of them. "Atin. By the way," he simply added at the end with a gulp.

"so my question is are we sinking this bird or are we getting the Beskar, cause so far all I've heard is blow up a ship with the payload inside" Startorn said turning back to the group "now I'm fine with sendin that bird back to hell but we still need to take that Beskar to make sure they can't recover it"

"I'd have to agree with Kaine and his plan." Tyran said looking at the group. When it came to battle strategy there had been very few who had been as effective as Kaine Australis. "Send in a recon team first and once they get the solid intel, send in the others to hit strategic points inside the ship and the facility itself."

Denying the Sith of both assets would be a crippling blow to the Sith in the region, and that was good for everyone Mandalorian or otherwise. "After we cripple the star destroyer we grab as much of the raw beskar that we can load onto our backs and bug out." He said looking to Startorn.

Cero relaxed a bit as he listened to the differing plans of action. He didn't have much input to besides attempt a hit and run; it was the best option in his opinion. They were Mandolorians. This type of mission seemed tailor made for them to take on. Sith by no definition were easy targets, but they'd been trained in combat and tactics tailor made to fight Force Users. He was confident in the their chances, even without anything set in stone.

His hand drifted down to his side as one of the late-comers threw out a weak threat. The moment he shot one bolt, he'd be torn through by over a dozen more, each one a kill shot. His hand remained on the holster as others in the room attempted to ease the tension that'd built up.

"Sounds like the best plan that'll be offered" He finally said. "Should bring at least one freighter with plenty of space, if any of you have one. It'd make transporting the ore all the easier. Hang back out of range until it's time." He shrugged. "Oh, Cero, by the way. Clan Pax."

"who's on recon? Also I suggest that the recon heads straight to the Beskar as they will just have the ship layout so the others can focus on taking out the ship" Startorn suggested, he didn't like the idea of just getting some of it, "remember kinsmen the reason we were brought here is not just to wack the empire but to keep the metal, our metal, out of there hands and that should be top priority"

Laandur looked at [member="Connory Monroe"] , retracting the stun baton an pointing to her. "I like this one." He said before walking up to listen to the plans. "Donavin Solus by the way, but my... my unit gave me the callsign Laandur." There seemed to be a split on whether to raid the shipment and take what Beskar they could, or take the whole facility down, possibly with the Beskar inside. He sighed, listening to both. He honestly didn't like the odds of either. Then again, he was use to striking the enemy knowing before it was too late. That wasn't really an option here. He looked around at everyone, at least [member="Cero Pax"] seemed to be combining the two. Then the idea of recon came up, and Connory noted having a stealth ship. He looked to her nodding.

"I have a stealth fighter, and was a squadron commander in the Night Witches before...." He stopped, not wanting to continue with it. He then looked at everyone. "Point is, recon is what I'm good at. I'll join in on it." He then heard [member="Startorn"] . "Right. I can't wear it, too heavy for me to physically hold it, but we need to stop them."

"You were a goran for sure, before you lost yourself... They are half priest, half lorekeeper and all Mandalorian to most Clans. Definition of mando'karla... A near sacred position to every single one of us. You know how to forge it. Fierfek, you've told me how to better than I knew before you. Your mind is just twisted, and won't let your hands do the work. When the time comes, don't forget your duty to them. We give up glory so that our people stay iron strong"

The words of his foster family and friend echoed in his mind. The scraps of knowledge had bloomed into a mysterious mastery of the metal. An obsession with it almost. So much so, it was (apparently) easy to identify the hallmarks of the older ways. The training of a Goran. And though his hands refused to do the work, his mind cleared more by the day. Others had seemed mystified at the things he could teach them. Secrets of the metal, and ways to alloy and shape it. But the goran seemed to be being hunted down and enslaved or killed by the Sith, or their lapdogs. Or perhaps were hiding. So he had been advised to keep that part of himself hidden, for now. But this was not the time to sulk.

"You'll need heavy hitters in each squad. Draw fire and punch holes. And someone in the recon squad should know beskar... Know it inside and out. The Sith might have played Ori'verd. Might be seeking to play us all. Or might have corrupted the ore to use it. They don't know it like our people do. I'll go with the recon team. Check the prize. If it's suitable, we take it back. If it's tainted... Well... We scuttle the destroyer... Then... There's ways to make sure even that which we seek can be put to rest beyond all reach. You'll need a goran to help find weak points and plan the strike and scuttling. There are too many possibilities to bank on just one system disabled bringing it down. That goran is me. If someone can get me intel on the ship design, I can analyze it. Show you weak points even the Sith and their pets didn't know. Beskar is well within my wheelhouse... As is murdering the kark out of whatever is in front of me. And any beskar we salvage, I will set mind to task of helping shape for those in need. I give up any claim otherwise. Just give me a forge to work in."

His eyes were just a tich widened, and his hands would have shook if not crossed over his chest. Unease radiated from him. But he had to offer all he had. This was their chance. And he wouldn't let it pass by without contributing his all to it. Without giving this people he owed his all to every ounce of himself.

"This is the way"

"I'll be one recon and extract, but we need to be quiet and fast" Startorn said looking around at the group that had accumulated "you said it fits what? 10?" Startorn asked [member="Connory Monroe"]

"I'll lead the team to disable the facility," Tyran said. "We can also load the beskar onto my ship, it's fast and well armored and has enough room for everyone here and a sizeable chunk of the beskar payload depending on how much there is. We should be able to find the schematics for the star destroyer in the main control center of the facility and can forward them to the recon team."

Beskadala had sat back with Ori’Verd’s holodisk clutched in her black gloved hands as the other gathered Mandalorians continued their discussion of tactics and stratagem. She smiled as she watched they proposed attack patterns and team strikes. She looked down at the holodisk and tightened her fingers around.

“Just like old times, eh, Ijaat,” she whispered.

Her smile faded and her fond expression decayed into a deadly glare as she flicked her eyes up to watch the last of the warriors speaking their peace on the actions that were needed next. Beskadala pondered the situation, yes it was a noble quest – for any Mandalorian – but still a tall order. She rose from her sit and clicked on the side buttons of the holodisk and commanded the hologram to zoom in on the station. The image grew into a larger, more refined image that revealed the station was really an armored drydocks which doubled as a garrison base.

She walked to a small table set aside the pyre and placed the holodisk on it scuffed and scratched chrome surface. Beskadala walked by the table, the image and the Mandalorians to look out the slits in the windows near the door.

“Ijaat was always a warrior with a big heart, and even bigger stomach,” she said.

“He’s delivered to us a rather terrible prize.”

She crossed her armored arms, folding her Mandalorian vambraces together onto her chest. She wrinkled her upper lip and snarled at the fine mists of Lujo that had become drenched with a sudden rainstorm.

“That thing has shielding in its entry ports and probably is garrisoned with enough soldiers to fend off a naval skirmish,” Beskadala continued, “Not to mention any left over First Order naval assets this ‘warlord’ probably scavenged. Bespin was in the First Order’s space.”

“True this is a smash and grab. But, the smash had better be quick and lethal.”

“A recon strike, followed by a charge in the breech it created would work.”
“We just need an in.”

Beskadala then saw it. Their in. She pushed off from the wall she was leaning on and activated the entrance doors, stepping out into the rain. While framed by the door’s round threshold she pointed to the parked Sith vessel outside ([member="Careena Fett"]). She looked back to her group and smiled.

“That’s our in.”

Cero whistled in amazement. "It's bigger than I expected. A lot of armor too." He said, gazing at the hologram of the station. There was about, what, a dozen of them at most? And going solely off of look and size, the place could be packing over a thousand soldiers, and that was not to mention the fact it the image shown currently had a Star Destroyer docked at it. "Heh." His laugh came off as more of a scoff than anything of humor. This was almost certainly a suicide mission. Ori'veld seemed to have lucked out by dying in his chair.

As Ordo made for the entrance, he found his curiosity piqued, and rose from his seat, following her out. When he saw what she did, he couldn't help but laugh, but genuinely now. "Hahaha! Are you serious?" He looked to Ordo, then to the others inside. "One of you knicked a ship from the Sith? You'll have to tell the story of that, if we make it back from this death run."

When his humor subsided, he pointed out his ship, the Ne'tra Tracinya. "The Ne'tra has the hardware to punch through the gaps quick and hard. Can take a knockout too. It'll put the 'smash' in the mission, guaranteed. Can't carry a lot of you, though. Maybe two or three." He shrugged.

Probably one of the worst at being a Mando as there ever was, Kyle Farnes, a foundling to Clan Tabalhar, a smaller clan of Mandalorians out along the Outer Rim, they sought to assist others keep their freedom. But the Warden was hearing word through the vine of system he was linked into. His Pursuer patrol craft had been what he was using more lately, Jedi had their lighsabers, Mandalorians had their beskar, but as a Warden, he was there to help protect ships and crews. Pirates tended to flee when the sight of a MandalMotors vessel appeared.

But he made his way to Lujo, to the gathering, all the same. He had come to listen, to observe. The bronzed warrior had no sigil, not yet. He was a Mandalorian, but he was different, scattered and without home, but not without purpose. Coming here to listen, though, that was providing him some semblance of what his cousins were doing.

While others were discussing the attack, Kyle was looking at the starcharts. Bespin was not far from his region within the Outer Rim Coalition. “My ship isn’t a foreign vessel out that way. But depending what the First Order has in the region, or the Sith, for that matter. We’re going to be up against a fight. And if the Sith have any of their Forcers in the area… Could mess things up. Could chase the ship in.” He shrugged.

Still hadn’t given his name, but that wasn’t important at the moment.
