The Menagerie [SJO Dominion of Amar, Z-28]

Objective 1: Explore the zoo
Location: Somewhere in the zoo

Yuroic had taken a stupid amount of spice. He was off his face high on spice. It was clear that he was high and not completely with it. However, the voices in his head had gotten worse, throwing himself into fighting the Sith Empire and assisting the Rebel Alliance, it brought back memories that he didn't want to remember. So now he need more spice than ever to suppress the voices or risk facing losing his mind to them, to the horror of his past deeds.

Stumbling around, Yuroic could barely stand straight as he moved around the zoo. He noticed the many animals and laughed loudly to himself as Yuroic watched them move. Why did animals seem so silly? The porgs were chirping noisily and flapping their wings. Yuroic was indifferent about them, he wondered if they had Loth-wolves around here, those were meant to be amazing to see and deeply connected to the force as he was. Also, wolves were always cool anyways.

Stumbling forward, Yuroic headed towards the Loth-cat area and try seeing if the Loth-wolves were there.

Let's get something clear. Scherezade did not stink. Josh had never used Force Breath around her due to smells. She looked bad, really bad, and she didn't really smell like fresh daisies either, but between fresh daisies and reek there's a whole wide range, and she wasn't anywhere near the reek part of the scale. Now, ignoring the smell thing-

Scherezade could easily see she wasn't quite as welcome as Josh had made it out that she would be. She felt awkward with the stares and glances, felt like she was one of the animals in the zoo being put up for entertainment. She had told Josh on more than one occasion that she wasn't a people person, that she sucked with people. There was a reason she usually avoided most of them outside of missions. This meeting served to remind herself of that.

And there was that word again. Friend. The very word she had asked him not to be, the day she had asked him not to care for her. But right now, she said nothing. Unable to bring a smile to her face, the Sithling waved at the people as he introduced them, not saying a word yet.

And then...

Jason.

Scherezade, unlike the rest of the Darksiders she had ever come across, did not know how to conceal her feelings. Her face was an open book, easy to read too easy to see. It was but one of the reason that there was more than just a Darth Wrinkles trying to weaponize her now. But the efforts, at least thus, had been unsuccessful. She was too broken to be of any use.

But when she saw the kid, something inside her seemed to shatter. She had seen kids before, of course, but never... Never in this way. No, she was not a danger to Jason, had never been, despite Josh's earlier worries. She had no reason to hurt him, no reason to harm anyone here.

But there was a kid, and he was screaming happily with his daddy.

Here was a kid, living the sort life that had been snatched away from her. She'd never learned to walk before she was imprisoned for five hundred years. She'd never got to meet her parents when she was released from that prison, a mere six months ago. She had seen her parents but once since, and it was when she was in the Darkness, and they had spat at her, told her she was weak, called her a stupid whore, and told her that her twin brother, whom she had not seen for as long as them, had preferred to die rather than meet her. The were supposed to be visions, not her real parents, but other visions within the Darkness had already proved to be true, every word the Darkness said nothing but truth. She had two people when she was thrown into the Darkness. She had none when she left.

Scherezade held her tears back and her head low as she shoved her hands into her pockets, and quietly followed Josh, Jason, and the rest of the group into the porg zone.

Tana may have liked to fight just as much as the next person, constantly trying to refine he skills in a blade, push what force powers he knew even further but even he needed a break every now and then. With the recent, what ever the fuck the Mandos where doing on Kasyyke the young Padawan had leaped on the first craft heading to the animal planet along with the other accompanying Jedi. Well Jedi and some woman in a leash, he was not away Jytoi was into that sort of thing but to each their own.

While she along with the Alyson person and a few other went their own way Tana zeroed in on the nearby zoo, specially the petting zoo, filled up with a trio of different animals to play around with. Some being more easy on the eyes then other, but all interesting to see never the less, especially the loth-cat, quite a cute species of feline that you don't see anywhere else.

While playing around with the tiny animals a familiar scent wafted into his nose, the Jin turning to the side to see [member="Yuroic Xeraic"] bumbling around like an idiot, "Really? you are getting stoned this time of the day? I can see why you never made master rank".

Left, right, backwards and forwards. It was a battle with no give, not take and no quarter in it. It was as close to an all in battle as Asaraa had ever found herself engaged in. Her eyes held wide open, matching the unblinking stare of the Lothal-kitten starring back at her as she tentatively reached out with one hand to rest her hand on the kitten's head, a smile breaking out over her face as she scritched at his fur, feeling the soft purr of the cat reverberating through his body and up into her hand. It was a perfect moment...or at least was one until she felt tiny razer sharp teeth nibbling at her finger as the kitten fastened on its new toy, his paws batting at the dangling digits leaving the girl to pull he rhand back in sudden shock. "Bad kitten...I'd say no treat for you but I'm a pushover...just no more biting."

Objective: Menagerie

Disappointed by the animals that he already had a chance to see beforehand, Ugohr then moved on to the next exhibit, the desert exhibit. He expected womp rats, especially since the banthas were already sourced from Tatooine, but the happabore, on the other hand, was an animal he never saw before. His work never gave him a chance to see that much of the wildlife of a planet, not even as a source of ingredients or as a pest affecting farming; most of the pest control work was subcontracted. For now, Ugohr knew that the happabore was similar in size to the cerrabore although far from it the idea to suspect that they may be related somehow. But he looked for other desert animals he knew were part of the desert habitats he did see, just that these enclosures only seemed to house 2-3 species at once at most. For now anyway, the aviary was the only section left that he had to see, but not without having seen other enclosures containing desert habitats. All he had to say at this point is: ooh.

Objective: Menagerie
Well perhaps she shouldn't have expected anything else. The Jedi Masters talked down to her. She'd nodded along with Jyoti's explanation, smiled back at Josh's snark, it was the way she'd always handled these things in the past. Her appearance, wide eyed, short, petite and youthful meant this was a common occurrence. Imperials were especially proud of themselves, when she had to intervene to guide the First Order's armed forces, they could be quite dismissive of her abilities. It was expected by now. It had taken years to shake off the prejudices, growing in power and strength until the day she could extract revenge on those who wronged her. Officers had been choked and Stormtroopers terrorised. Anyone who had mistreated her or spoken down to her on her path to power had regretted it if they ever crossed her path again.

This was like stepping back in time.

For the time being, she would fall back on her old tactics of brushing it off with a kindly smile or nonchalant shrug until one day in the future, she held the cards. And she would. All that was needed from her was patience until that day arrived.

None of those thoughts would be apparent on the surface, the slights against her not enough to dampen the spirits of being outdoors once more. The young woman practically hopped and bounced her way along with the rest of the group, occasionally stopping to inspect a billboard or exotic species with almost childlike curiosity.

A polite nod had been offered to Scherezade with the introductions but her gaze didn't linger, the woman's unkempt appearance and the faint, unpleasant whiff of alcohol not doing the newcomer any favours in the mind of the lady-like Ren. Besides, her mouth was already getting her in trouble, it might be better to observe in silence for the time being.

Instead she wordlessly waltzed in to the petting zoo, arms held behind her back. The open area was populated mostly with children from a variety of species. The porgs were clearly the most popular creature, the small animals receiving most of the attention but there was a crowd building around the stable of Eopie.

Samka stood there for a moment, swaying to and fro in her dress merely watching the gaggle of children with a pleasant smile on her pretty features. At least the simpletons were enjoying themselves.

Without warning there was a sudden weight on her shoulders, the feeling of claws poking at her dress and wet sniffing around her ear.

"Um..." Samka froze up at the Loth-cat which had pounced atop of her and was eagerly inspecting the new human. She cast glances from the creature climbing all over her back to the rest of the group, unsure of how to respond.

Those walking the Menagerie grounds would soon see a rather large display of color on approach. An Amaran vendor pushes a cart of inflatable creations and candy towards the group. He’d spotted some young ones; surely their parents would indulge them with sweets and souvenirs.

“Care for some treats, friends? Good prices!” In reality, this good price was quite high. But the park did need to make credits to keep business rolling. “How about you, sir?” The fox-man tilted his head up quite a lot in order to see [member="Josh DragonsFlame"]. “A balloon perhaps, for your little one?”

Objective two: [member="Finley Dawson"], [member="Charlie"]

Meanwhile, in the mountains…

“Careful, careful!” A woman hissed, holding her hands out. An Amaran placed a delicate egg into her waiting palms. It had taken a full day to journey with the eggs from the Menagerie to the mountains.

The Amaran fellow’s brow furrowed with guilt, but the payment that was soon offered made that awful feeling melt away. This was their way, after all. Animal trade. Why should such beautiful creatures be confined to a zoo display? “T-That’s it, then?” He stammered, “I best go now, I’m late for work.”

“Not a word to Mister Sala,” The woman said, voice low and dangerous. “Not a word, Reg.”

“Yes, yes…” Reginald answered, “Be sure to keep them warm.” With that, he began the journey back to the Menagerie.

Inaya’s eyes grew wide as she watched the exchange between [member="Cassius Droma"] and Tee-Four; her gaze flickered back and forth between them. Big Brother then motioned for her to follow, and she watched as he walked out of the cockpit, friend-droid in tow. She was confused now, but curious. Blinking, she went along after them, walking the familiar corridors of the Stardust Melody. The ship was beginning to feel more and more like a home; it was a very welcome constant in the former slave’s life. But this time, they took a path that she’d not traveled yet.

A tiny gasp escaped Inaya as she realized that there was now a new shuttle. Her small feet started to take her towards the entrance, but she was stopped as Cassius knelt down. Inaya’s young eyes met with his, and she listened intently to his words.

“I will,” Inaya gave her promise to behave, but a mischievous glint appeared when she side-eyed Tee-Four. “You knew all the time, right?” She asked, eyebrows lofting. “A secret…surprise.”

She paused, unsure if she’d chosen the right words.

Stepping forward, she took the chance to pounce Cassius while he was still on her level. Her short arms wrapped him in a thankful hug. Big brother was kind, she knew this first hand. And she was most appreciative of the chance to truly experience freedom, even with a chaperone such as Tee-Four.

“Thank you,” She smiled, releasing him. Her eyes then shifted to the droid, “We go?”

Leaning forward on the rails, he closed eyes and enjoyed the sensation of the spice as it took over him. Hearing Tanaski chastise him, Yuroic opened his eyes and growled low. There were clear bags under his eyes where Yuroic hadn't slept properly in weeks, even months, his beard was rough and scruffy. His skin was pale and there was a haunted look to Yuroic in general as he couldn't shut the voices up and retain his sanity unless he was high and drunk. "You. You do not get to judge, I do what I do to keep myself sane. You haven't seen what I've seen or done what I have done, you have no idea what I am going through! I don't care about being a Master! I don't care what you think of me, because you'll never understand what I've done!"

Yuroic was shouting and shoved the young Padawan, his emotions were sky high, his anger was causing the Force spark electricity down his arms. The bolts blackened his arm as it burned his skin, he contained the Force Lightning to his normal arm, not shocking anyone else. The lightning burned his robes, revealing repeated self-harm burn marks from previous lightning strikes. The spice was making it difficult to control his Force powers and emotions. Yuroic turned away from Tanaski, stumbling around, he needed to go find somewhere else to hide and take more spice, the day had ruined his mood and he could hear the voices screaming him for blood and murder.

Objective: Confront Yuroic

The altercation developing across the way took everyone by surprise, the young padawan most of all. She had just about coaxed the Lothal cat closer, the kitten's fur-covered body resting on one of her forearms, his contented purrs vibrating his body as he snuggled into the crook between her arms and her chest. On any other day she would have been happy and content at this moment, but this wasn't turning out to be any other day. The voices sounded like Tanasaki and Yuroic, the two of them seeming to get into some kind of physical altercation right there in the middle of the zoo. The padawan turned, pacing towards the pair as loud voices and angry words echoed around the petting zoo.

"Guys this is a kid's exhibit," never mind she'd spent the best part of 40 minutes playing with the kitten...you were only as old as you wanted to be right? "Maybe we should..." The girl's voice trailed off, the kitten in her arms shifting and hissing as it felt the sudden tensing of her body as shock seemed to freeze her. That was lighting running over Yuroic's arms, the tendrils of energy burning his clothes and his flesh. "Y...Yuroic...what's going on?" In a few steps she had pressed forward, interposing herself in the man's path as she stared at him, worry, concern and fear all shining out of the blue pools of her eyes.

Objective: Don't punch Yuroic

Josh would try to give Scherezade a reassuring smile as they went. While this had been Jyoti's idea, Josh agreed with it on the grounds that Scherezade was plagued with too many bad memories... Maybe it was time to make some good memories too.

Josh's mood had bettered considerably just being dragged along by the overly excited Jason. Seeing his son this happy made him happy as could be. Everything he had been going through as of late, all of the pain, all of the hurt, all of the trauma being mixed together just... Seemed to fade away in that moment. Soon enough, they arrived at the porg petting exhibit, and Jason jumped up and down in front of it, wanting to be picked up so he could see the porgs. "You can pet them in this part of the zoo, Jason" Josh would explain as he would pick up Jason, who's eyes widened in excitement at the news as the porgs would gather, used to the attention as they would come near this excited child. "Porgies, porgies, porgies!" Jason would let out, kicking his legs ecstatically as Josh would hold him up to the porgs as he would, while a bit hesitant at first, hold out his hands and try to pet literally as many porgs as he could.

The soft smile that crossed Josh's face told the story. This was his happy place. This was where he was the happiest. Wherever was making Jason this happy. The Jedi Master was beaming more than he had been in months.

"You haven't seen what I've seen or done what I have done, you have no idea what I am going through! I don't care about being a Master! I don't care what you think of me, because you'll never understand what I've done!"

The scream, along with the sudden discharge of Force Lightning would break Josh out of that happy place, as Jason would let out a frightened scream from the sounds and begin flailing about, the suddenness of it almost causing Josh to drop him into the exhibit as the Jedi would quickly regain hold of Jason in time to steady him. The porgs had been frightened and flew away, which only further upset Jason, who between being upset and scared, would bury his face in his father's chest and begin to sob and wail. Josh held him tight for a few moments as he would walk back to Jyoti and the rest, looking to see the source of the commotion. He had seen Yuroic shove the Padawan, seen him activate Force Lightning as it rocked along his arms. Josh's expression was cold as ice as he wrestled with his emotions, before he would turn to Scherezade.

"Hold him, please. See if you can get him to pet the porgs again. He should calm down"

He held her out to Jason, who looked at Scherezade and tried to scamper back into his father's arms again. "Jason, it's okay" He spoke softly, though his tone was far rougher than the usual gentleness of the Jedi. "She's a nice lady. She's going to show you the porgs. Miss Scherezade is a nice lady... Isn't that right Scherezade?"

He looked her dead in the eyes as he held him out to her. With Jyoti and Allyson there, she wouldn't hurt Jason he knew. And he trusted her, at least enough with that in mind. He had considered asking Jyoti to assist, but... There was a good chance that Jyoti and Allyson would step in if Yuroic caused anymore of a scene. He stared into Scherezade's eyes, his gaze piercing... It was a gaze that while not intentional, made it clear that were she to harm a hair on his little head, she wouldn't have her own head for long. Perhaps that gaze would soften over time, but then again, Josh had already been clearly upset by what Yuroic had just done, one could cut him a little slack in that moment.

Leaving Jason with Scherezade, Josh would begin to walk forward toward where Yuroic was throwing his tantrum. Josh's hidden emotions began to well up as he would grit his teeth. His hands would begin to be engulfed in flames, in his eyes his irises taking the form of flames. He wanted to load up a fireball and hit Yuroic in the back for causing a scene, for scaring Jason, for putting him at risk by acting out, bringing out Force Lightning like it was nothing. He was angry. Josh wasn't used to being angry, but he was angry. He was very protective of Jason, and it showed, bringing out emotions that he normally didn't show and in most cases wasn't even capable of.

But it faded away quickly as he took a deep breath. The flames would disappear, as he would right himself. Believe it or not, it was a testament to his recovery. He was beginning to let heart and mind become one again. He was beginning to use logic, beginning to use his head proper again. And being able to almost instantly calm down from such a high emotional mountain... It was a sign of the progress he had made. And yet at the same time the first real show that fatherhood had changed him.

Josh would walk up behind Yuroic and place a hand on his shoulder, not caring if he was shocked or not. He wanted to end this quickly, get Yuroic to either calm down or leave, before he put the others here at further risk.

"Yuroic" He spoke calmly, but he couldn't entirely hide the firmness and rigidness to his voice. "You scared Jason."

He was trying to make Yuroic understand what he was doing, but at those last words, his grip unconsciously tightened on his shoulder. His gaze, while blank and calm, held a piercing arc to it that told the truth behind him. His eyes told the truth. He was far from happy.

Objective: Menagerie

The other desert exhibit contained animals from other famous desert planets, such as the lesser and greater houdoggins, mixed together with rock beetles, the acklay, reek, orray and nexu, all four of which were in an enclosure designed to replicate the desert landscapes of Geonosis, and they never mixed more than five species in the same zoo enclosure. But as he went through the way to the avian portion of the menagerie he realized that one of the bird exhibits is... closed to the public. There-sa somethinn wrong with dat una exhibit for them-sa to feel dat closing issa necessary: maybe da animal contained in it issa sick with an infectious disease dat may be dangerous for regular guests, he thought, since the sign stating that this particular exhibit, the Corosian Phoenix, provided no reasons whatsoever as to why that specific exhibit was off-limits to the general public. But there was no reason to close off a zoo exhibit for anything other than repairs to an exhibit, dangers to the animals or dangers to the visitors, and often repairs to an exhibit were made due to safety concerns.

While generally keeping her head low and doing her best not to bump into the too many people that crowded the area, Scherezade couldn't really tear her eyes away from Josh and Jason. Josh had asked her to come because, she guessed, he wanted her to have some happy, or at least less miserable experiences. But the only thing she could think of at that moment was that she was watching a father and a son in a way that her own father and her twin brother never got to be. The way she never got to be with any of her parents, because her grandmother had ripped away what chance she'd ever had at growing up at a normal rate, while having her family around her. The laughs shared between Josh and Jason didn't ease her pain; rather, she experienced it again, and the pangs of longing in her chest causing her to take another small sip from her bottle. She wanted to disappear, feeling like her presence would somehow take some of it away.

She hadn't heard the words traded between the other two individuals who were part of the group (or part of the Silvers?). All she knew was that suddenly, porgs were flying away and Jason was trusted into her hands. Only now did she notice the Force Lightning, noting with some interest that it was rare for a Jedi to pull it off. She wanted to get close and touch it, but the crying kid in her arms...

Scherezade blinked.

There was a kid in her arms. And the kid wanted porgs. Scherezade looked wildly around her, seeing the porgs still in panic. She tried to use the Force to grab one to bring to them, but her squeeze had been too strong and the porg exploded, blood and feathers flying all around. That... Had not been her intention, at all.

She quickly turned the kid away, hoping he hadn't seen the mess. But he was still unhappy.

Scherezade glanced around, using the Force now to pull things out of by-passer's pockets. She needed... She needed... There!

A lighter flew into her hands and she shuffled Jason around just a bit so she could hold him in one arm, and she quickly lit the lighter. It was a tiny flame, one that didn't produce any actual heat that would hurt the kid if he tried to touch it. Tossing the lighter away, the flame remained in her hand and she mumbled a few words underneath her breath, citing the Witch incantation.

The flame was small, and the arrows that came out of it were tiny as well, but arrows they were, shaped of flame, beautifully shaped, drifting around the flame in lazy circles.

"Do you like that?" she tried to ask the kid, keeping her attention up to keep the fire from fading away.

Servos whirred as the tall droid nodded and confirmed that he had known the whole time, although slightly apprehensive about the whole affair. While T-4D4 understood his role within their little motley crew, he did not feel he would be adequate at the role of glorified babysitter. Then again, humans at that age were supposed to be somewhat independent. Perhaps this was for both of their benefit.

A warm smile crossed Cassius’s face as Inaya leapt into his arms. He cherished the embrace, part of him wishing she would never grow up, as eventually she might not be so appreciative of things like this. Pulling back, he smiled and nodded. “You’re very welcome,” he said. As a precaution, he had put a small tracker in the jacket she was wearing, just in case she got lost. He could never be too careful.

“Yes, we go,” T-4D4 said, only the slightest bit of apprehension already seeping through his tone. The very tall droid ducked low as he entered the rear door of the YT-XE shuttlepod. He went up to the pilot’s chair immediately, leaving the two seats behind him open for Inaya to take either one. He spooled up the engines and started the departure sequence.

Cassius gave the shuttle one last look before stepping out of the port docking area and sealing the door behind him. A loud hissing and then a whoosh signified their departure. Sighing, Cassius headed back into the cockpit. Out of the viewport, he could see the small shuttle start to make its way to the planet below. Back to the task at hand, Cassius began to punch in the coordinates for the wildlife reserve. Time to find out where those poachers were hiding.

Just as everything was just about to go down, Allyson caught wind of buttered popcorn in the wind. She waved over the gentlemen that was seeing the deliciously salty treat and bought a large bag. At least then she would be able to share with the group and everyone would hopefully start to get along.

Alas, that was just a fleeting dream as Allyson heard the screams and look up her bag of buttered popped kernels. Feathers flew everywhere and crying soon grew louder. She had heard the commotion from whatever Josh had run off to do. Blinking, she watched the fire tricks that the woman Josh had brought along entertained Jason with. All of this after exploding a Porg.

Glancing over her eyes followed Josh as she saw he was with Yuroic. Frowning, she looked to Jyoti waiting to see what the woman would do or say. She didn’t look for long, knowing already what was going on. Allyson had sensed some stuff being off with Yuroic for some time now, she should have said something, but she never knew how to approach it nor did she actually see him using. Sighing heavily, she at the popcorn and observed the chaos. “You know, I would have thought this one,” nodding towards [member="Samka Derith"] “was going to be the one to cause issues…”

The bag of popcorn tilted towards Jyoti if she had wanted to take some. Allyson was mortified as to what was happening especially since they were supposed to be enjoying the day along with celebrating peace wit the planet. A hand brushed her brown hair from her face, “Well, never expected my first time at a Zoo to happen like this, should we step in?”

The young Padawan cocked his head to the right as Yuroic shouted back, still carrying a smirk along his face, though h did wonder how the man could one day be all chirpy and good and the next look like a spice addict the next. "hmmm, you sound just like my mother when I ask her about the plague, but for inanity, I just developed different persona's to deal with that, have one Tana go insane and metal while other Tana keeps a level head". The somewhat peppy feeling quickly faded from him as the man started to wander away, the burning smell of flesh filling the air at Yuroics electric powers, pulling [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] attention who had happened to be nearby.

Perhaps he should have handled it better, though seeing him in such a state was not the type of thing you just wanted to cover up and not talk about, Vaashe had the right idea in confronting him, to some extent, himself following suit, silently standing to the side of the man as the blue lightning trailed off him, why he had decided to come here in such a state was rather strange. "I only meant such as a joke, but now I see you in this state I am not certain we should just let you wander off".

Leah Winsclav

Pinkie Extended, Tea Sipping
Leah found herself immediately fainting. She was a massive fan of Porgs, having been watching the group of them quite closely. So when a Porg suddenly exploded in s shower of blood, needless to say she was traumatised. A few stray drops managed to land on her soft features.

She didn’t scream or anything, just merrily tilted forwards and began a steadily descent towards the floor. She had been craning her neck and head forwards to get a closer look at this Porgs. This meant that when she lost motor control, her body was naturally pitching forward. Leah was nosediving into the ground, no doubt about to break her nose or something as she had no way to shield herself. Her bag had also slipped from her shoulders, landing on the ground with a dull thud as content threatened to spill out.

Everything seemed to be back on track after an initial a cheeky exchange between Elizah and Josh, she even had a giggle watching Elizah dealing with children and Loth cats with great awkwardness. At that moment she reminded her so much of Charlie. Just maybe everything about her wasn't an act. Maybe there was hope.

Naturally, as she was actually happy, the universe sought to ruin her mood.

It all came so quickly, beginning with Yuroic causing a scene with one of the Yumi twins (it was hard to tell at a distance from the back). The altercation went from zero to lightspeed as Yuroic sparked up with a surge of Lightning, a physical manifestation of his anguish.

It was all finally coming out, at the worst possible time.

The muscles in Jyoti’s legs coiled as she prepared to storm right over to Yuroic to finally set him straight, but Josh beat her to the punch. She stayed put, motherly instincts kicking in as she saw him pass Jason onto Scherezade instead of her. Scherezade, the homely looking Sith drinking in broad daylight, who probably couldn’t be trusted to hold one of the animals on display, much less a child.

She was supposed to be Josh’s friend, yet at the first sign of trouble, he didn’t pass Jason onto her as he ran off. It was like a slap in the face, and she felt a greatly diminished desire to help see him out of trouble with Yuroic.

While others in the party and bystanders nearby may have been focusing on Yuroic and Josh, her eyes remained on Scherezade and Jason, contemplating stepping in snatching him away out of the hands of the woman.

Before she could decide, Scherezade made that decision for her after crushing an innocent Porg to death.

Bloody flesh and feathers flew everywhere. Children screamed. Leah fainted right beside her. Allyson almost lost the grip on her popcorn.

Invisible hands brought the Galidraani to a dead stop before she could hit the pavement, her unconscious form raised back up straight before falling into Jyoti’s arm.

That was one person down, but the screaming around them still persisted, now coupled with shouting from adults pointing at Scherezade as she manipulated fire, Jason wailing his head off all the while. Allyson was beside her asking questions, but she wasn’t even paying attention, focus tunneled on two people like a laser.

She could feel it now, people were starting to panic, fear, and anger rising. In that state, people did stupid things, and she could only imagine how the obviously unstable Sith would react.

There would never be a chance. As soon as the crying and shouting had started, it ended, the entire area growing deathly quiet (save for Jason) as all bystanders and animals around them became frozen in place. Josh, Yuroic, and the others may have become victims of the same fate, as she targeted them, too. Such abilities were difficult to use against other Force Users, but her power was titanic, trying to smother them all under it like an avalanche. Whether or not they succumbed to it didn’t matter so long as her message got across.

This party was over.

“I just…wanted to have one day,” she said with a sigh, not even looking like she was exerting herself. “Just one quiet afternoon with you all, but you couldn’t even give me that.”

Leah was pulled away from her by telekinesis as before, guiding her toward Allyson.

“Watch her for a minute, please?”

Her eyes shifted toward Elizah, who had been spared of her selective targeting, though largely as consequence as the Echani’s contraption strapped to her neck. While Elizah couldn’t wield the Force, others couldn’t use it against her, either. It was a biomechanical version of a Yasalamir wrapped around her neck, topped off with a micro-pulse neuralizer for an instant knockout if she became a problem.

Jyoti hoped she wouldn’t, hence the lingering gaze.

Finally, she settled upon Scherezade and Jason, the fire manipulation of the Acolyte looking like a cheap power parlor trick in comparison to what she had just done.

Of course, she was sure the Sith could do more, which is why she hadn’t attempted to freeze her, lest she trigger some kind of episode.

“Miss deWinter...”Jyoti started, speaking as calmly as she could manage. “That’s quite enough now…let me have a turn with Jason please, I know how to calm him down.”

She was trying her damnest to restrain herself from taking any other action, but in the back of her mind, the cyborg was already cycling through takedown options, just in case.

Things had quickly escalated from his reaction. It gone from him burnt and in agonising pain, the lightning eventually stopped but his arm had significant damage on it, the smell of burnt flesh was heavy in the air. Josh had stormed over to Yuroic, telling him off for scaring his son, in the big scale of issues Yuroic was dealing with, scaring a small boy was nothing. What made this somewhat entertaining for Yuroic was there was an even large crowd of screaming from the porg den, he had spotted some woman holding Jason and a dead porg near them. Seemed that Josh left his child in hands of a newbie. "Before you criticise me, make sure you haven't left your own son in the hands of someone who could traumatise him."

With his blackened fingers he gestured to the horrors that were happening over by the porg den. He then stared coldly at Tanaski and Asaraa, "Ha. Time for talking is gone. Now I am leaving, there's enough problems going on." He stumbled away from the two Padawans as he winced in pain. His body was crippled, he was now desiring a lot of drink but zoo didn't really supply a bar. His ship had a large store of alcohol that would help him through the pain as his body coped with the most recent burst of lightning.

Objective: Comfort Jason

Josh had given Jason to Scherezade for a fairly simple reason. If Yuroic went out of control and civilians needed to be protected, then Jyoti and Allyson would be needed. Scherezade would not intervene. Thus, since she fulfilled the basic requirement of likely not hurting Jason... She was stuck with babysitting duty. If things got out of hand, Josh was one man and one man who was better suited to fighting Yuroic if he lost it. He could not be everywhere. He needed Jyoti, Allyson and Asaraa to be ready.

Josh saw from the corner of his eye as Scherezade did make an honest attempt to entertain Jason, though he winced when he saw the porg explode and things went to hell after that. He regretted his choice then, even if it had been the best tactical one he had at the time. He hadn't accounted for the porgs being panicked, nor Scherezade's lack of control over her use of the Force which he didn't think she'd need to use to begin with. He didn't blame Scherezade as much as one would think. She did legitimately try, and still tried to keep Jason occupied despite her clearly getting more and more upset herself.

While it was an absolute mess, in a twisted sort of way Scherezade had proved that he had been right about her.

Then he felt the pressure around him. And saw that many of the people around had been completely frozen. Josh was able to resist it's effects, and shook his head when Yuroic would lambast him. "She will not harm him" Josh spoke calmly, allowing himself an exhale to keep himself steady. With the lightning stopped and Yuroic storming off, Josh would immediately turn his attention to Jason as he would walk over, to see Jyoti calmly trying to take him from Scherezade. He would walk up from behind the two and place a hand on Jyoti's shoulder.

"I appreciate it, Jyoti, but let me take it from here" Josh would lean in and whisper softly. He was putting in considerable effort to be calm and gentle in this instance as Jason continued wailing. While he hadn't seen the porg explode due to Scherezade moving him away, the sounds of the explosion and the people screaming had set him off again and he wasn't going to be easy to just distract now. "I was thinking of escorting Yuroic away, to ensure civilians are not harmed until he has vacated... But I think you're better for this than me" He admitted to Jyoti. He had noticed how calmly and gently she had approached Scherezade despite the emotions he could feel welling up in her. "I trust you to do far better than I could in that. Could you swap places with me then, while I handle Jason?" He asked with a light smile. He was trusting Jyoti with the lives of those around them if something went wrong.

He also wanted to question her about the power she was using, which he had correctly deduced had been her doing. But that could wait.

Josh would then reach over and gently take Jason from Scherezade as the wailing, distressed child immediately buried his face in his father's chest when he would recognize him. Josh looked over at Scherezade and smiled softly.

"Thank you for trying, Scherezade."
