Objective 3: Swatting Flies
Tryk Zhot, aboard the Nackhawn
with the Lothalian Defense

Tryk Zhot did not normally involve himself in anything resembling 'warfare.'

It was too dangerous, without enough reward.

But today, he was not fighting a war. He was collecting simple bounties.

The Lothal defenders had hastily reached out to the Bounty Hunter's Guild to collect more skilled starfighter pilots for their defense forces. They were paying 5,000 credits for each enemy fighter taken out. The money was in the hands of a Guild trustee, who would pay out for verified sensor records of destroyed ships. This was necessary, as the Lothal government might not survive to make payment after this engagement. In fact, Tryk was sure Lothal would be Imperial property within one standard day.

No matter. Tryk could leave whenever he wanted, and get paid for the work he'd done.

That was safer.

That was good money.

His ship, the Nackhawn, was what some people called an 'Ugly.' But it wasn't cobbled together by the usual harried mechanics who were grasping salvaged parts and figuring out how to knock them together for hasty 'good enough' results.

No. Tryk had built this ship himself. And Jawas were no ordinary improvised riggers.

Jawas were inspired riggers. And when they were rigging for their own purposes, they could be masterful.

The Nackhawn was named for one of the galaxy's ugliest birds.

But she could Fly.

He trailed the 'ugly' squadron of ragtag Lothalian pilots with his own ship, embedding himself at the back of the formation.

But the Nackhawn was very different from the others here.

Someone was going to get a nasty surprise...

"Your definition of fun disturbs me Sith," Shov muttered while Sicarius continued to smirk at him. She was trying to mess with his mind with her japes yet such school yard tactics won't work on him. Shov and his family devoted their entire lives to the Empire from the Galactic Empire, to the Imperial Remnants, to the New Imperial Order, and now the Empire of the Lost. Shov's loyalty to the Empire was unshakable and he wasn't going to let some Sith try to deter him from his service to the Empire.

The guardian introduced himself as a guardian of the temple, or a keeper.... It didn't matter. This guardian was in his way. "Your words don't frighten me guardian." Shov responded cooly. "Lothal is now under the control of the Empire. Your Capital is being taken over as we speak, all of your lands now belongs to us."

As much as Shov wants to reduce this Jedi into a bloody paste, he was feeling generous. The Jedi probably knows that Lothal will fall and that the Empire will mine the land for all of its resources. "It would be best for you to lay down your weapon and leave us be," Shov continued. "Think of your people, they are suffering, dying, because of your Governor's defiance. All we desire is to enter the temple."

As he continued to speak, Sicarius went behind Shov attempting to give him a little push. She would find that pushing a man who is wearing armor as large and heavy as an Imperial Tank difficult. "Stay behind," Shov muttered to Sicarius. "And don't cause any trouble."

"I don't want any quarrel Jedi," Shov said gripping his rifle. "Too many of your people's lives have been lost. Don't join them especially for these Force artifacts."

Captain Deni Vrekk observed the battle from the afar, his webbed hands placed behind his back. Even though the Empire didn't send their best, what the put out there was more than a match for this ragtag fleet. A Victory Class Destroyer plus what looked to be a different class of Star Destroyer. Whatever it was, it was definitely something to watch out for. Being a former Captain for the Galactic Alliance Defense Force, Deni knew what going against the odds felt like. He remembered the battles Tython and Exegol well giving everything he got to the Brotherhood and somehow survived. Could his luck hold out against this fledging Empire who was bent consuming everything it touches?

"Too many foes," Deni muttered. "I didn't come out of retirement just to take on the damn Empire."

But he had to, the orbit was dominated by the Empire and although Deni's fleet was comprised of ancient ships, the worst designed bombers in Galactic history and starfighters that were donated by the Galactic Alliance. Deni needed a miracle for this. "All A-Wings!" Deni announced in open comms. "Engage the enemy fighters as long as you can! X-Wing squadrons prepare to launch your Ion missiles!"

The A-Wings zipped into action already opening fire on the 9 squadrons of TIE Fighters while the X-Wings headed for the Gozanti Assault Carriers. Deni had an idea, it was a long shot but if the Empire is distracted perhaps he can tip the odds of winning just a bit. "May the Force be with us." Deni muttered.

"Be thankful that the Empire has taken the commerce district," Lutin said looking around seeing many of the buildings starting to catch fire and blaster shots heard from a distance. "Process of taking the city has been slow, our intel has been off. Lothal Procreate has AA guns established on key locations around the Capital City and are using guerilla tactics to slow us down."

Lutin sighed shaking his head. "The Emperor expected this battle to be quick," he continued. "Just like the other planets in his resource rush campaign but Lothal is actually showing teeth."

There needs to be other methods to taking this city maybe Alicia had the right idea. "If you plan on profiting off of this," Lutin said. "Then perhaps we should find the merchant's guild and have a chat with them. If we are to get the people under wraps, then we need their support."

Alicia watched as her recent purchase was completed. The city of Jalath would be of importance to the company that she was now set to create as it's installations possessed landing zones where Alicia foresaw transports coming to collect the harvests from the nearby farmlands she had just bought up. It dawned on Alicia that for her to fulfil her obligation of interstellar distribution of foodstuffs she was in need of a fleet of ships to transport grain, livestock and other foodstuff for worlds belonging to the Empire.

Or, perhaps, I can use smugglers?

Alicia averted her gaze from the terminal as Lutin snapped her out of her thoughts. Peering around the elder man to the exit, she said: "My business here is concluded. We should do something about those guns, huh?"

"I should note that I believe they've sent their worst fighters up front to probe our strength. They have significant forces in reserve. After we cut apart this rabble, I expect more serious resistance. Be ready for surprising competence with the second wave."

“Thank you for the warning, Lord Mecetti.” Bella answered quickly. “My element will be prepared to clamp down once the lure is drawn. We won’t leave your pilots vulnerable for long.” She added. “Miracle, out.” With that, the Togruta cut the comm and watched as the red-hulled TIE/mgs of House Mecetti scrambled out from the Obscurer’s hangar bay, before moving into point positions. Just as anticipated, the initial wave of Uglies sensed an opening and quickly accelerated towards the assembled TIE/mgs in an attack formation. In response, the Baroness directed her pilots into positions where they would be ready to pounce once the Uglies came within range.

At the same time, Bella activated her TIE’s stealth systems, rendering her as not even a blip on enemy sensors in spite of the fact that her craft was not invisible. Then, she vectored her interceptor beneath the primary plane of the engagement.

She intended to strike the enemy from below.

For a few moments, Bella watched with suspended breath as the TIE/mgs peeled away and scattered just as the Uglies came upon them. She brought power to her weapons, then she placed her hands back on the control yoke, manicured fingers dancing across the buttons as watched the number on the range indicator decrease, somewhat slower than she had anticipated. Nevertheless, the Baroness held firm, until the number on the range indicator moved into the window that she was looking for.

“Miracle element, accelerate to attack speed! Attack pattern Aurek-2! Go, go, go!” Bella called out to her pilots over their shared comm channel. On cue, the TIEs surged out from their flanking positions, with the Togruta herself leading the way. First, she came up below and behind a pair of Uglies, before aligning her crosshairs with their ventral hulls and laying on the triggers. On cue, a hail of 30mm slugs raced out from the barrels of her autocannons, which then proceeded to perforate and tear open the hulls of her targets, causing gas and fuel to visibly leak into space. Moments later, her opening salvos were followed by a pair of explosions that reduced both of the bandits to slag.

From there, Bella vectored her interceptor from one Ugly to the next, autocannons and disruptors unleashing a violent rhythm of screams and explosions. Within thirty seconds, six more enemy pilots were vaporized, sucked into space, or torn to shreds as their machines were struck one after the other in quick succession, manifesting chaos in the ranks of the enemy. With each kill, Bella felt her blood run hotter, a feral glint manifesting in her eyes as she vectored towards another Ugly ( Tryk Zhot Tryk Zhot )—a craft that appeared to be a Z-’ceptor variant.

And yet, as experienced and lethal as she was, Bella did not know that this particular Ugly held a nasty surprise.

Lutin raised an eyebrow at Alicia's business dealings, what was she really up to? Even though the NISB agents maintain a strict sense of privacy, it was difficult to find any information regarding Alicia Grey. She never went through the training program from what Lutin was able to find. Alicia just appeared out of nowhere and joined the NISB. While she did have ties to a powerful family, Lutin couldn't find anything about her whereabouts prior to joining the Empire. He'll need to keep a close eye on her in the meantime.

"I buying up the lands will serve the Empire," Lutin said. "I would hate to find out that the valuable resources that we fought so hard to earn, is used to fill your pockets."

It was bold for Alicia to be cashing in the middle of the battlefield. She's truly a businesswoman that's for sure but whose interests is she serving? "The nearest AA gun is at the Lothal Capital City Building just few kilometers from out location." Lutin said. "My main mission was to disable the shield generator. But right now, the dropships need to get those guns down quickly so more troops can touch on their landing zones."

Lutin put on his helmet while pulling out his Suppressed SMG. "Let's go," he said. "Expect heavy resistance the closer we are to the City Building."

"A Miracle indeed," Maldor murmured as he watched Bella's squadrons tear apart the enemy uglies.

Everything was working exactly as he intended.

Until...

"Enemy main force is beginning to advance. Capital Ships and starfighters. X-Wings and A-Wings, Sir," the Signals Officer declared.

X-Wings and A-Wings. Two types of fighters that were both effective dogfighters, and deadly fighter-bombers.

"Have our Gozanti Assault Carriers and Raider Corvettes take positions to provide an anti-fighter cordon.

Keep hammering their command ship with our long-range turbolasers.

Blanket the area with electronic-warfare interference. I don't want a single missile or torpedo to function anywhere in this starscape. We will win this fight with turbolaser, Ion, and laser-cannon fire alone.

This will rob the X-Wings and A-Wings of their anti-capital ship capability."

The officers on the bridge raced to follow his instructions as red, green, and white bolts were exchanged across the void...

Objective 3: Swatting Flies
Tryk Zhot, aboard the Nackhawn
with the Lothalian Defense

Tryk spent a moment thinking about the pilots of the Uglies who were being cut to pieces.

Civilian pilots, mostly. A few ex-military well past their prime. Most of them had never fired a shot in anger in their entire careers.

That they fell for the ruse was predictable. But it was still a little bit sad. Like watching naked people try to cross the Dunes.

Well, at least their lives had bought him something.

It wasn't the Nackhawn's on-board sensors that showed Tryk that a predator was closing in. No, it was the Jawa's own light-sensitive vision, which had been tracking the deadly speck which was brighter than the starscape behind it. As invisible as the thing was on sensors, it was a gleaming jewel to his rodent-like eyes.

Just before it closed to weapons' range, he fired the dorsal maneuvering thrusters and pushed the starfighter down, throwing turret control to his welded-in R2 unit, R2-4U.

The droid-without-a-body lived a life of suffering, permanently attached to the Nackhawn, serving as its droid-brain for hyperspace, autopilot, and weapons control whenever Tryk needed those functions. Otherwise, it was a ludicrously boring existence. Only at times like this, in the midst of fiery combat, did it find any joy.

It blazed away with the Ion cannons, hoping to disable the enemy... or perhaps to die itself. One outcome would bring a modicum of satisfaction. The other would bring peace. Either was acceptable.

Tryk was unaware of the tortured inner life of his welded R2. To him, it was a piece of equipment. He'd yet to meet a droid that he considered a person. There had been one encounter, once, that had the potential of widening his perspective. He'd been wounded, seeking aid. He'd found a mad, killer droid instead.

Bad Robot.

But Tryk's mind was far from that encounter, now. This squadron of Ties were flown by experts. He could tell already.

He fired his thrusters as his droid fired the Ion turret, bringing his starfighter around at an improbable angle with unlikely speed.

But he knew he was in trouble. The performance of his intended prey's starfighter was beyond that of any ordinary interceptor. Only the 360-degree firing capability of his Ion turret gave him any edge over it in terms of capability.

Why Tryk get best Imp?

Well, the universe wasn't fair.

But he didn't intend to go out like the others had.

Celt was frankly baffled by the man in front of her, was he deliberately getting her name wrong just to get a rise out of her. "Misnaming a guest would he considered quite dishonorable in my culture." she warned him calmly....

But oh, he wasn't done yet. "Arrogant worm pig?" she repeated. "Why did you invite me here to speak like that? Think your guards could get to me before I put you on your ass? Think they could do anything to stop me?" she enquired to the man whilst looking at the shielded dome. Surely he must realise that in activating their dome they must had contingencies in place, food, escape tunnels perhaps even a dead man's switch in which to call on.

At least they saw eye to eye on their disdain for the Galactic Alliance, it was a start in their potential military compatibility. "Military conquest in the name of a mysterious emperor no less, would be interested to know who is pulling the strings."

Objective 1 - Mega Dome

The battering of the Protectorate's defensive line just outside the shield had taken too much of a toll on the defenders, and with both the 501st AND the Iron Legion hitting them at full force, they were forced to start retreating back behind the shield. Lyrani slaughtered several of their soldiers who attempted to flee from her with a torrent of force lightning, before pulling out her holo-communicator to contact Moff DuPorcelain. "Lady DuPorcelain. The enemy defensive line outside the shield is collapsing. We should move the infantry and walkers in through the shield while we have the initiative. The 501st will move in to make a breach through their inner defensive lines, you follow in after us to hammer in the final blow. With luck we'll have the city fully taken within the next few hours."

Lyrani then nodded at one of the Commandos who'd accompanied her, signalling him to contact her field commander and have him commence the advance. Soon enough, the 501st began moving through the shield into the city itself, the clone troopers moving in first with their armoured walker support following close behind.

Several weeks ago in Lianna City...

Three men clad in white uniform stood in a darkened room. Outside, through an open doorway to the room, flying vehicles and the sounds of the cities nightlife circulated through as the men negotiated with their target: Alicia Drey. As a passing car shined lights briefly into the room and illuminated one of the men's apparel the emblem of the New Imperial Security Bureau gleamed momentarily in it's headlights before it fell back into shadow. Meanwhile, Alicia sat reclined in a seat in the same clothes that she wore during her attendance to the Trade Federation Conference above Garqi with her eyes looking between the three of them cautiously.

"The Mecetti-Totan matter has been dealt with," Alica spoke to the assembled NISB handlers. "A meeting with Santhe-Sienar has already been arranged to bring them into the deal. It is a good deal for Vyllia Santhe. I have very little doubt that she will not be persuaded to fulfil her side of the new arrangement with Casteban Mecetti. The Prosecutor and other assets that were constructed for us on Obulette have had their records obfuscated. If the Alliance or Jedi investigate it will be difficult to establish that there is a relationship between us and them."

"Very good, Foxtrot,"
one of the handlers spoke from the dark. "The Bureau is pleased with your audition. You were right about yourself. We will continue all these... arrangements, as you like to call them. Welcome to the New Imperial Security Bureau, Operative Foxtrot."

"Do you have what I asked for?"
Alicia asked while her eyes squinted at them.

Despite standing in the shadows Alicia recognised a smile creep across one of the handler's faces. A hand stretched out from the darkness and handed to her a datapad. When the exchange was complete Alicia watched them as they exited her apartment and her mind raced with possibilities. Raising the pad up she activated the device, and found stored in it's memory several financial reports that the NISB had gathered for her. They were extremely old. Dating all the way back to the late 830s...

Present day...

"Let's go," Lutin said. "Expect heavy resistance the closer we are to the City Building."

Alicia pouted her lips in thought as Corveni exited the building. Pocketing her equipment and making herself as small as she possibly could, Alicia followed Lutin outside and drew her own SMG. "I will follow your lead," she told him while taking up a position from behind to cover their movements.

"Do not misconstrue my words as harbingers of fear, but as messengers of caution. The anguish of this world stems from your peoples' venomous speech and their enslavement to the endless thirst of Avarice," Tirin clarified.

There, before them, Tirin stood, his hands empty, devoid of any weapon. "I require no blade to assert the rightful place of an errant child and her overconfident guardian. Be forewarned, this land holds no spoils for your taking, no culture for your pillaging. This is your caution. Proceed with your plans, and I shall be compelled to impose just retribution."

The skyline above Lutin and Alicia were decorated with particle beam explosions and falling debris. The howl of TIE fighters filled the air while the rapid fire of Anti Air turrets continued to lay fire upon them from the rooftops. One TIE fighter got clipped on the wing by and it was sent hurling down towards the two agents. "Get down!" Lutin went down on the ground as the TIE fighter exploded in a large orange ball of flame debris scattering all over the street before the cockpit smashed onto the pavement and rolling towards the middle of the empty intersection.

Stonefaced, Lutin slowly got up and observing the flaming wreckage that was once a TIE fighter. There was no point in conducting a rescue, the poor soul was already dead before he hit the ground. "That's a friendly reminder," Lutin whispered to Alicia. "That we need to hurry."

Ami was glad to be on solid ground again, a few more minutes inside of that dropship and she'll probably go crazy. She hated flying and if given a choice, Ami would gladly walk a hundred miles to reach her destination than to fly a ship. "We got hostiles!" Captain Hondi barked at Ami's unit. Ami could see them clearly, Lothal Protectorate lining up in front of the entrance and began to open fire on the Stormtroopers. Ami smiled at the barrage of blaster bolts whizzing around her while she and her squadmates got into cover.

"There's a chit ton of them sir!" Ami shouted while she placed herself behind some debris. "You sure reinforcements are on their way?"

"They'll be here Corporal!" Hondi replied getting out of cover and aiming his grenade launcher towards the incoming hostiles. "We're going to have make do until they get here!"

As Hondi fired a grenade shell killing three people in the process, Ami broke out of cover and fired her multiple shots from her Carbine, hot particle beams slammed against the flesh on the hapless defenders as they scream in agony before succumbing before they fall. Such screams were music to Ami's ears. By her count at least 4 had fallen, gotta be a new record for her. The Stormtrooper smiled continuing to pick off the Protecterates in hopes that someone will come help them out.

Did Velran really mispronounce Kelt's name? He could've sworn he wrote her name in his notes somewhere. "What are you talking about?!" Velran gave a nervous chuckle. "Isn't your name Gelt? Er I mean..... Celt? Right?"

Negations for Velran was either do exactly what Velran said or get vaporized by a bombardment of Turbolaser. It was tough to operate outside of that, then again, Velran had little patience for people. Always finding them a waste of air, the fact that Velran had to force himself to be more social around this young Mandalorian was..... agitating. "Listen Celt," Velran said forcing himself to smile. "I said I was sorry! I mean come on! When It comes to battle, I'm an artist and the battlefield is my canvas! When you insult my tactics, you insult my beautiful of art."

Battlefield tactics was Velran's passion there was nothing better than to arrange troops and Star Destroyers and maneuver them in creative and ingenious ways. To be in control of millions where they live and die by your orders, it felt exhilarating and it was something that Velran knew that he was worthy of doing. "I don't know who the Emperor is." Velran shrugged. "From what I've heard he has 5 PHDs, has an over a 1000, and is a very handsome man. You would love him Celt!"

Velran smiled. "But enough about the Emperor who by the way is awesome," he said. "Tell me about yourself! What are you going to contribute to my lovely battle?!"

Celt laughed, it was the laugh of a woman who laughed because she was stopping herself from being angry. But he did apologise, in a sort of round about way so it would be rude not to let it pass.

"I would point out, I didn't actually insult your tactics."

Interesting seige tactics, not how I would have done it, but that's me

A short recording of Celt's voice played from her voice modulator to prove her point.

"And it looks like we share a taste in art forms. Myself, I would have sent commandos in to take out the shield generator. Soften them up with artillery, perhaps sedative gad because of the civilian population, and then take the leadership out in a precision strike." she shrugged and smiled, there were many ways to skin a loth cat.

From what I've heard he has 5 PHDs, has an over a 1000, and is a very handsome man

"Oh my word, that is impressive, isn't it a wonder how emperors all have such traits?" she laughed sarcastically, her culture you rose through the top after you gain honor and accolades, with empires you tended to grant your self the accolades later.

"This isnt my fight, I dont plan on engaging Clan Saxon forces here, my ship shall remain in orbit and I shall remain here. I'll keep up safe if needed. I saw a heavily armed Enclave rallymaster knocking around." watch out for her.

Sicarius watched with bemusement as her designated bodyguard guard prison guard attempted to reason with the Jedi. Sicarius already knew it was pointless. Jedi were irrational fanatics who believed their own hype. Even if you could find one who didn't think they were a sacred warrior who could not be defeated they would gladly die rather than betray their cause. If they were given a mission they would see it through till the end one way or another.

Still this one seemed more arrogant than even most Jedi. They seemed confident or deluded enough to believe they could take on two trained warriors with no weapon of their own. Well then that was fine but Sicarius.

While the two had been talking in the traditional ritual of bragging and negotiating for a fight Sicarius had been harnessing her powers with the Force. Sicarius barely waited for the Jedi to finish their self righteous prattle before unleashing a stored up ball of Force Lightning with her right hand. With her left hand Sicarius used telekenisis to rip a boulder off of the mountain to bring it down on the Jedi's Tirin Raene Tirin Raene head.

"Well don't just stand their shoot the crazy monk!" Sicarius yelled at Shov Brald Shov Brald .

As they took cover from the explosion, Alicia would rise to take a position on one knee after it had cleared, firing her SMG at the corner to suppress the group of men hiding behind the wall at the corner to the Commerce Centre. Creeping backwards elegantly, while continuing to fire her weapon at the corner, Alicia tapped Lutin on the shoulder and indicated that he was right: they needed to move. Several blocks away, at the outskirts of the Capital City- where the fighting was at it's worse- were the anti-air turrets that were firing upon the swarms of TIE Fighters whirring over the city skyline.

"Let's get our sweat on, Corveni. Those turrets have to go. Take the lead, I will cover you."

Vekk saw the electronic interference system blanketed between his fleet and the Empire's. Clearly, they were anticipating that Vekk was trying to disable one of their Star Destroyers. If the Empire was facing some predictable, run of the mill, Admiral they'll be right. However, Vekk was anything but conventional. He preferred to bait the enemy into showing their hand before reacting. "To be a good leader means you need to think on the fly," Vekk muttered to himself. "Many Admirals who had more experience than me ended up getting overwhelmed and killed by the Brotherhood of the Maw. All because, they were inflexible, preferring to stick to protocol rather than rely on instinct."

Since the Lothal Resistance was outnumbered and outgunned, no way they can take the Empire on conventionally. Which was why the Star Destroyers weren't Vekk's targets. "Captain!" Private Dresy shouted her eyes glued to the targeting system. "Enemy is opening fire with Turbolasers!"

"Return fire! Aim for their power generators" Vekk commanded as the Dreaded began to rumble with every hit from the Star Destroyer. "With that electronic field active, we won't be able to use our missiles! We need to buy our engineers time to put the missile system back online!"

The X-Wings began to pull back from the electronic field and headed for their targets: The 2 Gozanti Assault Carriers. "All X Wings!" Vekk shouted. "Concentrate all fire power on the nearest Assault Carrier."

The X-Wings began to launch their Ion missiles towards the carrier while the Superfrighters began to take on the Raider Corvettes. The Superfrieghters began to fire their twin laser cannons towards the Covettes in attempt to keep them occupied while the main starfighter force of the Uglies and the A-Wings began to engage the TIE Fighters.

Vekk took a deep breath. "If it takes a miracle to win this battle," He muttered. "Than it's time to create one."
