The Restoration of Ahto City [The Republic]

After her instruction to @[member="Vexander Graves"] received commendation, Kiskla turned at the familiar voice. A sort of timbre she'd not heard since a discussion about coming out from the cold. It appeared, from her words, that @[member="Ashin Varanin"] had all but thawed out. She was one but many who were busying themselves with tasks that demanded attention, and Kiskla was relieved that her effort to restore faith and the city was being supported by many -- some faces she'd not yet seen. "Oh Knight Graves, this is Master Varanin."

Ashin was three-legged now, and leant with a visible limp. Kiskla knew however, that she could still be quite useful and likely best many of the ham-handed cadets that were only here to boast their strength. But their strength was useful, very useful indeed.

"Your assistance is most welcome, Master Varanin. Your efforts here will definitely aid your return to The Order in the eyes of The Council." Her light eyes glanced around, the time for open arms would come, but for now both women likely understood the demand for work to be done. "But right now, the Kolto healers." She nodded to herself and gestured to a pitched white tent not far from the station Kiskla, Ashin, and Vexander occupied. "They're working with some of the medical staff from The Republic and Jedi Healers. They're quite busy, as a lot of the city's citizens were affected by the blast. That's only one station," a slender digit redirected the focus to a more established looking structure, a pristine white building "The other." She explained simply.

"We just received a transport, I was in the middle of unloading it when I received a message that distracted me. If you'd like to work with me, I've got to finish with that shipment before directing attention elsewhere. Otherwise, if you feel you're more suited to other aspects of the effort, please feel free to pursue your talents. I hear they''re quite boundless." A smirk.

Spencer followed quietly behind her former Master, they both wore old tattered clothing, but in Spencer's case her dark gray tunic obviously too big for her wore the marks of a long I forgotten battle. The burn marks of a light saber created holes where it penetrated through. It was a constant reminder of her mortality, something that most people forget. Crossing her arms casually she looked about and listened to Ashin speak. Matsu had done this, Spencer rememberd the woman from the last storm she had conjured when Spencer was around. Closing her eyes she did her best not to judge her new place, but it couldn't be helped. Finding a pause she looked towards the Jedi Master in charge.

"Master Grayson, Id like to help as well. As much as Ashin owes these people, I feel I am in debt as well. I can help keep the people calm if needed so the Jedi can do their work..."

The girl left out the fact that she has conquered an entire world for the sith with just her mental powers and diplomacy. Arms fell from her chest and she folded her hands behind her back as she returned to admiring the city or what was left of it.

| @[member="Kiskla Grayson"] | @Ashin Varanin | @[member="Coci Sinopi"] | @[member="Drake Blackwood"]The instructions from the Jedi Master were clear and quite straight on regards of the platform and what was needed from him. Still, the action was politely interrupted by the arrival of a new sentient being Vexander has never seen before: a Jedi Master by the name of Varanin... or was that her last name? It would make sense but still...

"Greetings Master Varanin" said the young man with a polite bow "Vexander Graves at your service" said the corellian Knight with the militaristic persona he always had in him... in fact, based on the way he dressed, he seemed more like a Military officer rather than a Jedi.

Knowing that the two would have a lot to talk about on regards of the readmission of the Master to the Order. "If I may be excused... I'll carry out the orders Master Grayson "said Vex while he bowed once again, and left.

Focusing his attention to the platform and the several soldiers and droids working in leveling the platform. The Knight took some space and placed himself in a safe distance that would allow him to assist without actually looking like he was working on it. Knowing that such feat would require some effort, the corellian proceeded to start with his breathing techniques while he began to gather the Force around him.... perhaps his apprentice would be able to help him? Either way, Vexander just waited for a moment and continued with his techniques hoping to receive the visit from Drake soon since he would need him.

Behind the woman she knew, appeared one she did not. Her face was only familiar from brief flickers at the election they had hosted on Annaj, and Kiskla had participated in via holo projection.

In tatters, both looked more impressive than the most embroidered details of Naboo. Depending on who they were appealing to, that is. In this instance, the Council of Reconciliation; and their communication was clearer with this sort of vocality, rather than if they’d shown up in armour or otherwise. They were wise indeed. Essentially, they were as vulnerable as anyone else on this planet.

“Both of you, please call me Kiskla. I can’t say there’s any need for a hierarchy here. This rebuild will be far more tasking than it’s destruction — I understand you both have your qualifications of specialty.” Light eyes flickered to the younger of the two new-comers, and she brushed a wisp of hair that tickled her cheek in the breeze. Hadn’t she been called to do some healing at the election party? That had been an awkward situation! At the time, Rave Merrill had been receiving the most votes for High Council, and there had been a possibility she wouldn’t even survive the night.

The healers were overwhelmed. There weren’t just cuts and bruises to be dealt with, but infections, lost limbs, comatose patients, those concussed, etceteras.

Sublevel, the foundation needed to be restored. Some of the more aquatic of species were assisting with that endeavour.

On the city surface itself, builders were working to re-construct some of the damaged buildings. Also, the new shipment of nutrition, fresh water, and supplies were being set up for distribution.

“It seems as though Coci has the unloading of the recent shipment under control. The healers need assistance in the medical bay, as do the builders beyond the perimeter of…” she gestured around them at the bare white space and ended the sentence flatly “here.”

“Thank you again for coming, but let’s make ourselves useful. Shall we?” With an inclination of her head, she suggested which direction her feet would follow — toward the builders! There was a Padawan and a Knight working on the strength aspect of levelling, and that was all dandy for now. There were other things to be restored in the mean time.

Ashin Varanin

Professional Enabler

Ashin nodded in acknowledgement to @[member="Vexander Graves"] and caught Spencer's eye. Spencer could be of use with the builders, or the healers, or in evening out the emotional balance of the city. Ashin was merely decent at mass emotional effects, and a poor healer. To the builders she would go. She fell into lockstep beside and behind Kiskla.

"What did cause this?" she asked quietly. "My money's on Ike, of course, but nobody knows for sure. The third of the city that sank had the Sith army on top -- it was someone on the Republic's side, certainly. But who, and with what authorization?"

@A'dele Adonai @[member="Vexander Graves"] @[member="Kiskla Grayson"]

The reloading of the speeder went much quicker with the use of the droids coupled with Coci's ability to use telekinesis. This would be the last run of supplies to the medical tents after which she would offer assistance to aid in what ever is needed to heal. Although Coci is not a healer she could assist.

As her speeder returned to the tents, Coci went to find a healer. Walking through the main tent, many beings are there for healing, all manner of injury and sickness, some more serious then others and the place is a hive of activity. Finally she saw a Jedi working hard to aid the people and she approached. Having never met the Healer before, she introduced herself.

"I am Coci, how may I assist you?", she said to @A'dele Adonai .

@[member="Coci Sinopi"]

A'dele's pale ice blue eyes turned to meet the newcomer, a cordial expression seemingly upon her face. An incline of her head expressed her greeting to the young Jedi Knight, as she said, "Greetings Coci, I am Knight A'donai."

At the question on how she could assist, A'dele gave another nod, saying, "We will need aid in a variety of things, to include aiding the sick, providing a fresh supply of materials to the medic center, and aiding in the reconstruction."

A faint smile drew upon her lips. "What would you like to assist with?'

@A'dele Adonai

"Medical supplies have been delivered to the centres already", she paused thinking on how best to assist. "I am not a healer Knight Adonai, but I can assist in the reconstruction of the Healing Halls .. if that is where you think I would be of most use".

The Jedi Healer looked at her with ice blue eyes, there seemed to be a warmth behind them, as Coci's piercing black eyes met her's. A fainted smile met her's as she bowed slightly to show respected to one of great skill with the force and a Jedi.

"Just point me in the right direction", she said with a slightly wider smile. there is no need for her usual cold blunt self today, and with loving filling her heart of a man .. this seemed to begin to melt the icy exterior.

“I was on Dac when the Sith counterattacked Manaan and all of this happened.” She sounded a little regretful, considering that perhaps if she had been here she could have prevented the devastation. Kiskla wasn’t afraid of mass summonings of The Force, and liked to confront those sort of things head-on, no matter who was summoning them. But this hadn't been the instance and the motion to render the situation was underway.

“As for authorization, I think it was on the individual’s own authority.” Her youthful features drew into a hard line, slightly harbouring resentment. She had brought the notion up to the council when Halcyon had been in power, and it had been dismissed. Apparently Matsu Ike had been under house arrest after her last action that mirrored this one; but for some reason she’d been dismissed to participate defending Manaan. A swell job she’d done for The Republic’s PR. No apology, no attempt to rectify her actions, nothing. It would be a rabbit hole of a discussion, as the trio stomped through puddles. She could hear behind her the slight groaning of the structure as @[member="Vexander Graves"] and @Meeristali Peradun
lent their respective strengths to the volunteers.

"You're a healer, aren't you?" Kiskla asked backwards to the other blonde (@[member="Spencer Jacobs"]) "I saw you briefly on Annaj during the election evening. You must be Spencer."

Spencer nodded her head hearing her name, she had healed Rave after the Kaggath. The reconstruction was difficult but the slightly buzzed Master had been able to place her face back together with precision. A sheepish smile spread across her face as she rubbed the back of her head oddly amused that she was recognized. This usually didn't happen and she was happy that she had done something to get her noticed. After the brief embarrassment, Spencer followed the two Masters and remained behind them slightly. Looking out towards the emptiness that Kiskla had pointed out she felt a bit of pain in her chest, she remembered how the city looked when Ashin and she had come here for the treatment. Sighing softly, she finally answered the fellow Jedi Master.

"Yeah, I'm a healer, I was trained while I was a padawan while I was waiting for a Master to take me. The people of the city are scared despite our efforts, they can't see past the destruction to even allow us to help. If its alright, um Kiskla...I can bring them a calm they haven't felt in some time. It would allow them to see past the destruction, once they've accepted our help I'll release the calm and let them understand on their own and accept the Jedi's help." Spencer spoke quietly as she stopped following for a moment, she peered out and allowed her empathy to feel everything. Training had allowed her to control the hyper-sensitivity, but this seemed like the right time to let everything fully hit her. Choking back the pain she was feeling from the masses, she looked towards the other blonde. "They need to find some sort of peace even if its presented to them through the Force, if they don't have it or feel it - our efforts will be in vain."

@[member="Kiskla Grayson"]

What Spencer spoke was true. There was a tangible amount of trepidation from the city’s inhabitants. They watched with bittersweet eyes as their friends and families were healed and their livelihoods restored.

The young master had been on Manaan for a week already, and the morale had hardly swayed. There were glimmers of hope, but the begrudging attitudes by far outshone them. The suggestion of persuasion was a good one, but not one Kiskla was willing to accept just yet. Call it youthful stubbornness, but she had wanted to do this relief effort for not only her own conscience, but to prove to the people that being citizens of The Republic would keep them protected. If someone were to invade their minds, would they continue to feel protected or further betrayed?

She was silent for a moment after the offer, and allowed the last six words from Jacobs-Varanin's lips to hang between them. Her light eyes drifted to the side of a building, before she looked down and closed them briefly — while still maintaining her gait. An inhale resonated before exhaling deeply, coming to her conclusion.

“I appreciate what you’re offering.” Kiskla commented finally, “And I don’t want to take your presence here for granted. Either of you. However, can I ask that you wait before doing that?

The citizens here are wary, as you know, of The Republic yes, but particularly Force-Users as it was one that brought a mass of this ruin. I don’t want them to think that The Force is a tool to take advantage of them — not that I doubt your subtleties. I just..” she shrugged her shoulders and stopped, meeting the eyes of the young woman who had mad a valiant offer “I want these people to learn to trust us themselves. I’ve been here a week, and it’s been slow, yes, and I trust it will continue to be. But I do trust them…” she paused and drummed her fingers against her hips in thought. She trusted the citizens foolishly, awaiting reciprocation. Spencer’s offer was useful indeed, especially for the media. The likelihood of anyone understanding that a mentalist was encouraging the boost in morale was slim to none — but she was wary of that opportunity between both chances. “How long do you plan on staying here? Maybe in a day or two, it would be more appropriate? When more has been done and the efforts of the volunteers have gained more traction.” Timing was everything — especially when someone was talking about balance. Her train of objecting thoughts stopped however, when she ran through Spencer’s dialogue again. Denying the woman this opportunity could be more of a hindrance to the volunteer's efforts; she had to think about how she would feel if the Protectorate turned on her own planet. She would not readily come to terms with their efforts.

“I may be dense, but you said you’d help them understand on their own. How would you do that?”

Leori had ensured that the cargo bays were empty before exiting the ship and joining some of her Jedi comrades. She walked up to the two women closest to her.

"I can do whatever is most needed." The Jedi Master announced to the two.

A'dele gave a small incline of her head in appreciation of Coci's williness to help.

"Then I would ask that you aid the Selkath in overseeing the reconstruction of the medical bay," she told her, only to have her ice blue eyes seemingly warm at meeting Master Leori's gaze.

"Master Leori, it is a pleasure to see you." she began, giving an incline of her head in greeting. " Are the Circle of Healers joining us today?" she asked.

@[member="A'dele Adonai"] @[member="Coci Sinopi"] @[member="Vladimir Kirov"]

Leori returned the nod in greeting. "A'dele, it is a pleasure indeed. No need for such formalities in the presence of friends." She smiled.

"I'm not sure if the other members are joining us, but, I am ready and able to assist. What do you have for me?"

Arriving with a fresh squad of soldiers Vladimir detached from the unit sending them to get settled, he himself was still recovering from the transit but he didn’t let it show. Having just recently joined the Republic had been waiting for this assignment, his first chance to prove his worth to his new employers. He had been dispatched to work security for those here to help restore Ahto city. He didn’t know anything about this planet or the reasoning behind the city’s restoration but it didn’t matter, he was here to do a job and he would do it to the best of his ability. He didn't want to wait on his hands for a few hours while the rest of the squad settled in and waited for new orders before getting his hands dirty, he would start as soon as he could and with a quick glance around he noted the presence of three women nearby.

He was uncomfortable with the idea he would have to approach these women but there were not any others that were obviously as ready as he was to get to work. He walked towards the group of women, forcing himself to keep his eyes up but kept his gaze averted ever so slightly, old habits die hard. He stood silently waiting to be acknowledged keeping just outside of their small circle so as not to draw attention to himself. Years of serving under so many strong women had left him scarred, he could command units just fine but his presence in this group had nothing to do with his duty he was just anxious to get to work, even if it meant giving up off duty hours. It was better that way anyway, those he served with would just want to spend the time drinking, gambling, or generally being social and the idea of that much work exhausted him. He wasn't particularly social and that had nothing to do with his heritage as a Hapan male, he just enjoyed a quieter existence then most.

He glanced around in a fashion that could be construed as nervous when in reality he was already working, evaluating the area around himself, identifying possible security issues as he waited for the three women to finish their conversation so he could offer his assistance with whatever they may be doing, he could rejoin his squad later when he was on a duty cycle.

She bowed her head toward the Jedi Master that had joined the small group, "Greetings Masters", she said to @[member="Leori Sheltrak"] before replying to Knight Adonai, "I shall get on this immediately", she turned to leave to head back to the main ship to organise supplies and equipment for the reconstruction.

It was then she noticed a new comer to the operations along side him soldiers of the Republic. Coci approached him (@[member="Vladimir Kirov"]), "Greetings Sir, I am Coci Sinopi member of the Republic", she did not present her title or rank as she is agent with the GIA, but not here today, today was about reconstruction of many things.

"I could do with your help and the help of your soldiers, unless you have another assignment here?", she asked.

Objective: Locate and Recover

Hasjo Hallu stood bare-chested in the cargo bay of an LAAT. The propulsion drives whined as the vessel skimmed along the surface of the ocean. After the recent assault, the city was largely damaged. Much of it engulfed by the dark, depths of the ocean. Hasjo was a Nautolan, one of the few races that could breathe both in water and out. He had volunteered his service in the restoration of Ahto City. Namely the recovering of lost artifacts and. . . bodies.

As with any great catastrophe. There was death. And while many corpses had floated to the top of the water and been washed ashore. Many had been entrapped beneath ruins. Families grieved for their loved ones to return; even if that mean't in a coffin. And someone had to do the dirty work. With him were a detachment of Republic SCUBA Troopers. Hasjo raised his wrist and patched a communication link to Republic Command. All Jedi, military and naval officers could hear his transmission. "This is Padawan Hallu preparing for ocean drop" Hasjo spoke into his wrist.

It would be easier said than done for the female Zabrak to drop the formalities, for she was known for her cordial and proper nature. A hint of a smile, and an incline of her head was her answer, but for the moment, while she had been told by Master Leori to drop the formalities, she would seemingly continue simply out of respect.

“If you are able, Master Leori, we could use some aid in helping the Selkath train their healers. It has come to my attention that a few are force sensitive as well. Perhaps, we can continue training here?” She suggested, bringing the small datapad up against her chest.

Underwater Agricultural Kolto Beds

It was interesting to swim along as a Selkath, and to be honest, there was a deep satisfying sensation at the stillness and solitude of the sea.

Several Selkath just to the right were busy repairing a Kolto harvester, while other Jedi padawans more akin to an aquatic environment were busy planting young kolto sprigs. Erinyes, was one of these Jedi, as a small basket upon her right arm held a bushel of Kolto sprigs for her to plant.

Ever so carefully, she swam to the bottom of the sandy banks, and there, plucking a wavy bluegreen sprig of Kolto, gently planted it.

Throughout it all, the young Shi’ido Princess lightly hummed a melody as the Force sung a song around her.

As one of the women separated from the group and approached, Vladimir cast down his eye on the floor again instinctively, he covered it by making it appear as a sign of respect as he raised his eyes back up to the woman’s lips. He couldn’t bring himself to look her directly in the eyes.

“Vladimir Kirov, I am certainly willing to help, squad is just getting settled in so they are not on duty but I am sure a few of them would be willing to donate some of their downtime if you wish.” He glanced at his chrono. “We do have an assignment here but I have a few hours before I will be expected to report in.”
