Invasion The Rim War: Revenge of the Empire | EotL Invasion of TAC-held Garn and Maldra IV | Chapter 1

e8sq6KL.png

New-Eot-L-Divider.png
In the wake of Emperor Velran Kilran’s fiery death over Mon Cala, the Empire of the Lost enters a critical flashpoint in its reign. While the rebellious Tingel Arm Coalition was defeated in its attempt at reclaiming Lothal, the battle exposed a number of festering weaknesses in the core of the Empire. Among the young Empire’s many issues, among its most dire are an anemic military-industrial complex, a rebellious population, and a young, untested Empress seated on the Throne.

Still, the Empire marches on.

Recognizing the threat that the Coalition represents to the health of the Imperial state, the Moff Council authorizes the launch of an offensive—the first to be waged against the insurgent state on the Empire’s borders. Targeting the Bryn'adûl-ravaged worlds of Maldra IV and Garn, the Imperial council hopes that the successful capture of these worlds will lay the foundations for deep strikes into Coalition space. In such an event, the Empire would be in a prime position to assault the Coalition’s capital of Hurikane, giving the opportunity to snuff out the rebellion at its heart.

However, as the Empire moves to seize the initiative, the Coalition seeks to answer for their defeat at Mon Cala and Lothal where they saw initial success but lost significant ground due to Imperial reinforcement.

Mysteriously silenced by the Bryn'adûl many years prior, Maldra IV has yet to fully recover from the geoengineered apocalypse inflicted upon it. Regardless, resettlement and restorative terraforming efforts spearheaded by a conglomerate of corporations and the Coalition government have reached their early stages. Amidst these efforts, the presence of the Nest has positioned the planet as a critical nexus of the Coalition military. It was this juncture (and others like it) that allowed the Coalition to strike Lothal and Mon Cala. Thus, the Empire seeks to capture the base in a surprise attack as the Coalition recovers from their failed offensive. Both states have the security of their borders at stake, as whoever holds the planet will be able to utilize the space it is in as a jump point for future incursions into enemy territory.

As the invasion of Maldra IV goes into action, the Garn system comes under Imperial assault as well. While Garn itself is little more than a barren world of diseased trees and desolate landscapes, it is surrounded by a dense asteroid field that holds the ancient Citadel of Rur. Once the headquarters of the Ordu Aspectu—a now-defunct Jedi sect known for their relentless pursuit of immortality—the space station-fortress now lies abandoned, though its powerful, esoteric secrets remain. For the Empire, Grandmaster Teckla Tane and Grand Inquisitor Aculia Voland have authorized a combined force of Crusaders, Inquisitors, and various elite units to seize the station and the priceless knowledge held within. All the while, the Coalition deploys the Aquilian Rangers and accompanying special forces to do the same, at the behest of a mysterious, wealthy benefactor.

Objective I: Nest - Warposting and Dueling
The Empire opens its invasion of Coalition territory with a surprise attack on Maldra IV, their primary objectives being to capture the Nest and secure any valuable intelligence within. Coalition forces have activated a retrofitted continent-scale shield generator to protect the defensive cordon from orbital bombardment, forcing the Empire to commit to a ground assault. Imperials, break their lines of defense and seize the Nest to ensure there are no further assaults on the Empire. Coalition forces, do everything in your power to hold the Imperials back!

Far below the surface on the eighth level of The Nest's underground command center, alarms tore through the air, piercing the silence with a sharp, urgent warning. Screens flashed an ominous red, awash with sensor data and intelligence reports. The warning was clear: Imperial Forces had breached the sector. In an instant, the command center was a whirlwind of action. Coalition military officers shouted orders over the noise, sending squads scrambling to their posts, and soldiers surged forward, bracing the entry points that connected the complex's labyrinthine depths. Within moments, the base was on full lockdown, a fortress poised for invasion.

Outside, the perimeter defenses stirred to life in a synchronized hum. Eight massive anti-vehicle turrets aligned with the horizon, their long barrels gleaming under the dull light, ready to deter the advancing threat. Four anti-air turrets shifted into position, prepared to intercept hostile craft, while five point-defense laser cannons swiveled on their mounts, ready to track fast-moving aerial targets. Around the base, ten anti-personnel turrets lowered, their sights trained on the approach routes, casting long, imposing shadows over the entry points.

The entire security grid buzzed and whirred as motion detectors and long-range sensor arrays scanned the surface, transmitting data back to the command center, feeding early warnings of any movement. In the surface garage, engines roared to life as mobile artillery units and armored vehicles rolled out, arranging themselves in defensive stances to brace the outer line. The Nest was armed to the teeth, a formidable barrier ready to meet the invasion head-on.

Deep within the hangar, starfighter pilots sprinted toward their fighters, readying to defend the skies over Maldra IV. The command center buzzed with outgoing communications to the nearest Coalition Fleet, requesting reinforcement, though the small fleet already stationed on base would take up overwatch, safeguarding the ground forces below.

The Nest, once an abandoned Republic facility, had been transformed by the Tingel Arm Coalition into a formidable, heavily fortified installation. Now, its Rebel defenders were bracing themselves for what was shaping up to be a brutal confrontation. Among them, a young member of the Aquilian Rangers prepared himself, knowing this battle would be unlike any he had ever faced, and likely, the fight of his life.

Balun Dashiell dashed down the dimly lit bunker corridor, aiming for the central spire's turbolifts. He was young, far less seasoned than many of the hardened veterans stationed in the Nest, yet his role had been crucial from the start. He had poured himself into securing and restoring this very facility when the Coalition first emerged as a military power. A Rogue Jedi by nature, Balun had been inducted into the Aquilian Rangers, and while he remained a volunteer, his influence and reputation as an unofficial officer had quietly grown among the Nest's ranks. Only recently had he left the bunker full-time, moving to the Dashiell Estate. Now, however, the Nest felt as much like home as the mansion ever could.

For Balun, this battle was intensely personal. The Imperials had struck at the heart of his home, threatening the lives of countless personnel who had become dear friends. Adrenaline coursed through him as he reached the turbolift and hit the surface-level button, steeling himself for the fight ahead. He knew what was at stake—not just for him, but for everyone who had made the Nest their stronghold. The facility stretched eight levels below ground, each serving a critical purpose and stocked with enough supplies to withstand a prolonged siege. But Balun had no intention of seeing it come to that. He wanted to meet the Imperials on the surface, to prevent the nightmare scenario of falling back into the depths of the bunker.

Bringing his commlink to his mouth, he took a steadying breath. "To all Military Personnel, this is Balun Dashiell. I'm heading to the surface to assist with frontline defense. Lock down every floor, seal all blast doors, and prepare ray shields in case the enemy breaches. All high-ranking officers, report to the Command Center. Command, prepare for a full wipe of all hard drives if it looks like we're losing ground. We cannot—under any circumstances—allow the Imperials access to our security network or intel. If they take this facility, it could compromise every critical site across the Arm."

The lift doors slid shut with a final click, the bunker falling silent around him as the turbolift began its ascent. Balun steadied himself, ready to meet the enemy head-on.

Ahh, Marda IV

A nice purple sphere in the eastern part of the Outer Rim

or was it the western part? eh, he could never remember.

point is, It was now the home of some offshoot of the old rebellion, the same ones he fought against on Lothal after the emperor's death.

Honestly, These guys were probably jumping for joy after they killed the emperor, though the EOTL would just call it quits.

Bet these guys never suspected the wrath of the empire to come crashing down on them

Well, okay, maybe that last part wasn't exactly true

The defensive position they chose was pretty good, all things considered.

The Nest was an impressive piece of work, Plenty of turrets of all shapes and sizes to keep kinds of nasties away, a shield so they couldn't just bomb the thing into oblivion, all sorts of gadgets to keep them alert to infiltrators, and a kriff ton of underground tunnels.

All things considered, it was gonna be pretty tough to break in and get the required intel.

Luckily, he was great at breaking into places like this (at least, back in the day).

His LAAT was currently flying in a low-power state and flying low, allowing them to be practically invisible to all external sensors and Turrets.

Of course, he couldn't land close because they did have turrets manned by actual people, people who probably wouldn't be too happy about the LAAT hovering around their base.

So he landed far enough way where the sensory array and big guns couldn't exactly reach them, he figured around 9 KM would do the trick, he just hoped Rorsch Rorsch could keep the main force occupied, along with that Rouge Padawan, Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell , not to mention a pirate queen, Cord Starfall Cord Starfall

He also heard two others were joining him, he thinks their names were Amiggie Lutih Amiggie Lutih and Myri Dara Myri Dara ?

A highly competitive boxer and a (potentially insane) corporal?

Oh, this was going to be fun.

Still, he needs to focus on his main object, getting the info from the vaults.

Getting would be difficult, but doable, Now getting to where he needed to be? that would take some elbow grease .. and bodies, lots of bodies.

he highly doubted that the general of this place was just gonna let him stroll to the 4th level and just take it.

Not to mention all of the said gadgets that would make not getting detected impossible? which would get them in big trouble.

Infiltration was not going to be easy

He'd have to wait for the right moment

But for now, he had some walking to do

just as quickly The LAAT landed and his troops deployed, it retreated back to central command, as Hawk and his troops began the hike toward the base with the utmost stealth, activating the suits to ensure they sure they are not detected by the sensor array.

By the force, this armor was cool, but it was really kriffing uncomfortable, even after the custom design job.

Rorsch stood in the cockpit of Brutal-One, his command vehicle for this invasion. He was going over the last items on the start-up checklist.

”Tane ammunition is secured within the ammo storage containers?”

“Yes sir.”

”Good. When the others are finished alert me so we may move out.” Rorsch said to the pilots, as he moved to the middle of the ersteel behemoth. He climbed a ladder to the top of it and opened a hatch, to peer at the battlefield before him. Despite the noise of his walkers being prepped, the planet was eerie. He did not like it here, but he was not alone.

Imperial High Command decided to split his Corps into multiple attack points reducing his first battalion to merely half of its original size, however, the second half was made up of troopers loyal to the Crusader Captain Severon Valgor. He had fought with him on Corbos and sized him up to be an effective field commander; the Kel Dor was glad to have a commander of such quality march with him.

The Imperial Forces came with such speed that their dropships could make it to the ground despite flak and missiles. More than a few units were lost on the way down, but at least his companies and Severon’s made it down largely unharmed.

He put his helmet on and pressed a button on his comlink connecting himself to Severon, <<”It is a fortuitous day Captain. I smell bravery among our men, we shall be the ones to break their defensive lines today.”>>

He breathed deeply taking in the smell of the planet and the dorin gas his mask provided. His comlink began to flash, letting him know that his companies were ready to move out. <<”Captain, my forces move when you are ready.”>>

The Kel Dor began to climb back down into his Xerxes, walking back to the cockpit. He sat down, his ghost link activating as his back touched the seat. He began to hear the other walker commanders within his mind before he spoke, ”Soldiers.” There was complete silence. ”We are to break the enemy's defensive lines and support our Legio allies. Our main concern is other armored groups. The assault walkers will be ‘First Line,’ followed by the storm walkers and the Aurek Cohorts as the ‘Second Line.’. Infantry, stay inside your cohorts until we meet the enemy, and then fold yourself into Severon’s forces and provide support. The Xerxes will provide heavy firepower from the rear with the Besh Cohorts following behind them as ‘Third Line.’”

He took a moment for affirmatives to creep through the communications matrix, ”If you require a resupply, pull back to the ‘Third Line.’ Walker commanders, we do not need full salvos unless I order them, spread your firepower to keep up ammunition stock. I will be sharing Brutal-One’s targeting data through the engagement network, I expect everyone to do the same. If your vehicle becomes too damaged, erase data, scuttle, and then withdraw to the nearest cohort. Do not let the enemy understand our vehicles.”

”We march on. Vehicles, forward.”
He would say when Severon's men begin to move out.

Rorsch breaks his vehicles into three lines.
'First Line' is all of the AT-AWs
'Second Line' is the AT-SWs and the Aurek Cohorts (Infantry Support)
'Third Line' is the Xerxes and the Besh Cohorts (Resupply)
As he is supporting infantry, he waits for the infantry to begin marching towards The Nest.

I was born a long time ago, but the Galaxy hasn't changed one bit.

Empires and Rebellions still wage war.

Fighting for a true victory neither will ever achieve.

After them another Empire followed by another Rebellion.

War is an endless Machine.

Churning out soldiers to bathe the worlds in blood.

The soil of so many worlds enriched by it.

War is Endless, and so am I.

From behind her old silver and violet sith mask, her glowing sulfuric orange eyes opened. Upon the mask in the ancient sith language was written in gold lettering the ten thousand sins of the monster behind it. The monster that killed without mercy or remorse, until the day she decided to seek redemption for all she had done. Redemption a fool's task that only brought more pain and suffering. For one could not be forgiven for their sins by the living, only the dead could redeem a soul.

There was no peace in the sith, nor the Jedi, nor any other endeavor the monster had embarked on. Now just a ronin warrior witch hiding behind the guise of pirate. Whatever greatness she had achieved in the past meant nothing, it was so long ago and forgotten. friends, family, and lovers all gone now, so she embraced the one thing that had always brought her familiarity war.

She stood up from where she had been meditating and looked out across the landscape of a world that had already been touched by an empire before long ago. Yet here was another coming to claim blood from this world. The endless cycle that would never end, a hell in and of itself. She could smell it and feel it in the air, the calm before the stormfront. The Ronin warrior witch know as Cord Bacquin now Starfall embracing her witch heritage lifted the green hood of her duster over her head and pulled it down just enough over the mask covering her face to cover her orange eyes so she could see out but no one could look her directly in the eyes.

Her boots began to stride across the ground, it was time to meet the storm head on. She was born for war; the blood of a rebel ran in her veins. Today she knew many would die and her sins would increase for the blood she would give the soil of this world. "Forgive me for the sins I am about to commit, may the souls I take rest easily." A prayer she gave to what ever gods might be listening. As the dark aura began the march across the battlefield not hiding who or what she was, there was no longer a point to such things, her soul was forever tainted dark no matter how many good deeds she did.

Arrayed all around me, the sounds of alarms and klaxons rang out, signaling the arrival of the enemy forces. Booted feet scrambled to and from in preparation for defending the fortress known by one singular name: Nest. I sat on the floor of my assigned quarters, knees folded over, eyes shut, and slowly mediated, speaking to the Force to protect me and those under my command. My extinguished hilt swirled around me, as I used the object of my focal point to slow my mind, and to relax my body. War is a monster, no matter what name it goes by, but war is inevitable; so, I have been told by my former Master who led me into my first battle when I was a Padawan, and where he died defending those that could not defend themselves.

"I will honor your memory today, Master," I whispered, slowly opening my eyes, "I will fight and give my life for those that cannot defend themselves, as you have taught me, Master." The Nest was a military installation, but not all the personnel assigned here where military; there were mechanics, engineers, janitors, and etc. whose job was to keep the facility running, not skilled in defending it. Those were the ones that could not defend themselves, the one's that needed protection.

From behind me came a session of knocks, then the quarter's doors slid open.
"Sir," came the voice of Lt. Grendu. Lt. Grendu is a young officer, sharp and stout in military tactics. He is well over the six foot plus mark and in excellent shape, spending free time in the training barracks or the gym, he is as dedicated as they come. Single and without children, he comes from a military family, who produced officers for generations in the Galactic Alliance and other more positive governments throughout the galaxy. I am proud to have him at my side. "It is time. Our forces are in position and await our presence."

"Lead the way, Max," I replied, using his first name and the only one he has given permission to do so, whilst I stood up; catching my floating hilt attaching it to my belt. He and I walked in complete silence, though the situation in essence was anything but. Upon arrival to our designated defensive position, Lt. Grendu quickly jumped into action gathering reports and conducting quick inspections of both the men and the military equipment. Satisfied, he nodded his approval to me. Max was a glutton for speeches, and me being the commander in charge, in fell on my shoulders to deliver the opening speech.

"It is right to feel fear in the face of battle," I began clasping my hands behind my back as I stood in front of the men and women before me, "Any soldier who says they are not afraid are lying to themselves. It is what you do with that fear that makes the difference between victory and defeat. Do not let that fear defeat you, instead allow it to guide you to victory. Today, we are not fighting an enemy before us, today we are fighting to protect and defend those behind us. I cannot promise all of you will survive the day, but for those that do; know in your hearts you have fought bravely today."

war, war never changes. the history of the galaxy has been built upon that very concept and yet with war comes opportunities. not just in profit but in the mental. for each battle makes one stronger. and thats what the Lilaste order capitalized on. with the war between the Empire of the Lost and the Tingle arm coalition came a unique opportunity. While he had bolstered a sort of contract between the Lilaste order and Shem Spinner Shem Spinner and Aether of the Iron Order Aether of the Iron Order . the Lilaste order was still a mercenary company. or least thats how he had been running the small faction in order to gather the funds to keep his people going.

while the members of TAC never reached out to recruit or hire troops of the order. the Empire of the lost did. and so Laphisto sent Voraden Tarkos Voraden Tarkos ahead to work for the empire. and with some spare time on his hands. he decided to entertain the battle at hand. to test his old aprentice and to see what he had truly learned.

when the battle lines were eventually drawn Laphisto opened a channel to Voraden "commander tarkos. it seems you have arrived on time. im sure my appearance here is a surprising one. ill be giving you the honors of facing me in combat my friend. same rules apply as if this was a live fire excersise. if vehicles get below sixty percent operational capacity they are to be counted as defeated. if a troopers armor goes below seventy five percent integrity that are to be marked as KIA. lets see what you have learned"

as the battle began Laphisto laid his troops before him. the AT SW walkers along side the AT-MSW walkers holding front and center ARSB bikes running along the right flank and the new AT-ASMKII walkers running the left flank the AT-AE walkers and all thier varients remained in the rear of the formation

A while back an Empire once governed his homeworld. Smaller imperial rump state in the corner of the galaxy. This Empire of the Lost was considerably much larger. But he wondered if that size and weight made it more reckless. It is easy to act a fool and make mistakes when you can afford to do so. It appeared to the Tusken that no cost was too great for this Empire. They lost an emperor, and were still asking for more. A’Runda wondered if perhaps they were gluttons for punishment.

A’Runda had never been to The Nest before. It shocked him over how deceptively large the facility was considering how unassuming it looked from the outside on the surface. While reading himself for the battle to come the Tusken noted a grave oversight on his part. It had been a while since he’d managed to craft some more slugs for his cycler rifle. He thought that he had more stores away but apparently not. A’Rudna only had a measly four rounds for his cycler rifle. He imagined that four slugs was concerningly inadequate for a battle. Yet at the same time he felt completely unalarmed. After all, he had other lethal weapons on hand as well. Something within his soul told him that he shouldn’t need anymore than four slugs to do what he needed for today.

These slugs each represented at least four, very unlucky people today. He would be interested to see who was fated to be graced by his marksmanship. Racking the bolt on his rifle he chambered the first round into the barrel before holstering the slugthrower into his back along with his two other weapons, His crude lightsaber, and gaffi stick.

The tusken wondered what was the best course of action for him to take. Personally he much preferred facing off against his opponents in the field. Which seemed to be the strategy of many here at The Nest. A’Runda felt that a prolonged siege might be the better approach for them. They had a serious home field advantage. Just wait around long enough for the surface assault to get annihilated by turbolasers from orbit by TAC naval forces.

But it was impossible to tell if such an outcome was possible. They may need to approach this as if they were alone. Planning for the worst while hoping for the best. But After hearing the message given by Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell , A’Runda figured he should meet with the fellow Aquilian Ranger on the surface.

Taking a 9 KM hike through forests and plains in this armor wasn't exactly the funniest task in the world, especially when you added the various patrols and traps laid out in random intervals

Luckily, an armor that can make you practically invisible did wonders in ensuring no one spotted them

The occasional neck snap and vibroknife to the neck helped with that too.

But at last, they had made it to a large cliffy section of the planet

Still, they were at least another .5 Km out from the base.

But he didn't want to enter just yet

As good as these suits were, he doubted they could sneak past an entire army

He would await the main assault forces to attack, which could take a while.

Still, never hurt to do some recon, needed every advantage they could get, even if they didn't need it.

He looked for one of the taller cliffs and climbed up it

Once at the top, he looked around to see if he could find the base.

He spotted it about north of his position, he activated the in-suit electro binoculars to get a good look at the base

As expected, The base looked like a modest military outpost, nothing too suspicious to the naked eye and nothing worth conquering to ignorant commanders

But underneath is where the real value lies

and all that stood between him was a lot of Rebels

Not a problem, he was an expert rebel exterminator

But that's enough about the base, let's see the defender's armament

From what he could see, on the outer layers they had powered up the various base turrets and had begun forming a defense line around the front of the nest. It was tough to see, but he could see some Jedi in the frontline, at least 2 anyway.

Well, those guys were Rorsch Rorsch and the rest of the command team's problem (for now anyway)

Their frontline was gonna be tough to break through

But with all their attention on the front, they had neglected their back lines

Still decently defended, but not nearly enough

He contacted His fellow EOTL member through a very encrypted and very secret channel

"This is Hawk, the enemy has begun defensive formations around the nest and powered up defensive turrets, spotted at least 2 Jedi, might be more. You've got your work cut out for you, going to try to look for an opening."

He climbed down and back to his platoon, awaiting the chaos to begin

Severon surveyed the forest that would soon be stained with blood, he had nicknamed it 'Cimeterium' in his mind. Ahead lay an unknown journey, it will be bloody and unforgiving, a path his men would cross to reach the Nest. The plan was brutal in its simplicity: they'd march forward and engage, one-on-one, with the enemy forces. There would be no mercy, only a relentless advance until the Nest was purged.

Turning, he faced the soldiers he had meticulously arranged into formation. They knew the task ahead, the talk in the landing crafts had left no room for illusions. An officer approached, out of breath from rushing between the ranks. "Sir, the men are ready and awaiting orders," he reported.

"Has the Holy Man blessed the men?" Severon asked, watching as a cloaked figure moved along the line, pressing a hand to each forehead in silent blessing.

"Yes, Primarch," the officer confirmed. "He's nearly finished."

Severon's attention shifted back to the battlefield as a voice crackled through his helmet, General Rorsch, the commander of mechanized divisions Severon had once fought beside. Severon did not like the use of walkers and large vehicles, he felt that true war was fought man-to-man, not behind controls. Despite this distrusted in the impersonal nature of machines, he respected Rorsch's prowess in warfare. "My men will fight until their legs fail beneath them," he replied, tapping his helmet.

Facing his soldiers, he stepped into the center. "Today, the birds cower in their nest. By tonight, we will have cleansed it. We will give no quarter, let the enemy fall by your weapons." A fierce salute struck his chest, echoed by his men in unison. "Ad Legionem!"

With a final gesture toward the enemy, Severon signaled the mortars to launch smoke rounds across the field. As the thundering of marching feet began, Severon called back to Rorsch, "Take out any emplacements. My men will handle the rest." And with that, he charged into the Cimeterium, leading his men toward the promise of victory or the glory of death.

"Now it's our turn frackers."

Ami muttered behind her helmet, her fingers clutching her rifle. She was eager for some payback against the Coalition for killing Emperor, and countless civilians back at Lothal and Mon Cala. Killing the local resistance on Lothal was nowhere near enough to satiate Ami's bloodlust for rebel scum. Ami could still hear the pleas of mercy from the rebels when they on their knees sobbing. Yet the answer they received was a blaster bolt to the chest, head, or groin. No mercy to people who spilt blood of the innocent civilians, no mercy to those who slayed the Emperor: The man who united the fractured Imperials.

The Coalition has attacked the Empire, and now, it's their turn to strike. "And we're going to strike with great fury." Ami said rushing towards the main objective. The surprise assault had began in earnest, with Star Destroyers jumping out of hyperspace and surrounding the planet: Maldra IV while deploying Imperial Dropships towards the planet's surface. From there, once they landed, the ground pounders began their rush towards the shield generator.

Though Ami was one of the first to land, she wasn't assigned to a Stormtrooper unit. Once again Myri Dara Myri Dara had requested Ami's aid in one of her little subterfuge. Ami was in no fracking mood to do another stealth mission but much to her surprise, Myri wanted to enter the fray. "Welcome to my world Buttercup," Ami smirked. "Shall we skip to the fun and rush in? Eager to smash some heads with Baby!”

Myri Dara was no trooper. She could function as a sniper in an extreme situation and she was tough enough to hold her own in pretty much any situation. But she hadn’t trained for marching with a battalion or attacking the enemy head on. This was not the first occasion that she had been thrown into this situation that she was not trained for. This time however it was by her request. Her friend was teetering on the edge. Amiggie was more than angered by the rebels. She was seeing red. Reckless and Myri didn’t know what Amiggie would do if left to her own devices in an offensive mission against the rebels who had killed the Emperor and caused so much more death on Dac and Lothal. Myri wasn’t sure she could steer Ami to the correct path. But she wouldn’t be able to live with herself if she didn’t try.

Of course Myri didn’t know that what they were a part of was significantly less than a battalion. Officially Ami and Myri were currently a part of some squad with a special name that Myri couldn’t remember at the moment under Osk company. 150 stormtroopers and Myri tasked with knocking on the front door of the TAC’s military complex known as the Nest. Why couldn’t Myri remember the name of the squad they had been assigned to? Because not long after the Nest was in range, Amiggie had informed her that their task was to leave the squad and scout ahead. Scout duty was much more in Myri’s wheelhouse, but she still worried that Ami was going to take them off the rails.

Defensive artillery thundered into action. This made Myri even more happy to be on their own. But it wouldn’t take long before trouble found them. She was sure of that. Amiggie had been muttering angrily to herself the entire time that they were “scouting”. Myri had her head on a swivel knowing that in her current state Ami was a wrecking ball, not a scout. In order to make sure they would not walk into a trap or ambush Myri was paying close attention to the readings on her HUD goggles. It was hard to get readings with the artillery activity, but she knew there were enemies emptying from the enemy base and approaching their position. They needed to find cover or be ready to fight. Myri didn’t need to even look at Ami to know what her stormtrooper friend would vote for. And the moment rebel forces were mentioned any vote would be moot.

Hearing Ami’s words, Myri guessed that her partner had been paying closer attention to movement than Myri had thought. ”I can’t say that I care for your world so much. I can handle the punching, but your way seems to get you punched back a lot more than my way…” Myri’s tone was serious, but she managed to crack a playful smile.

Myri pulled both of her blasters from her hips and double checked they were at full power. ”You’re going to rush in no matter what I say. I’ve got your back…but let’s try not to do anything too stupid right? They know we’re coming.” Again the agent smiled and gave a nod of readiness. She waited for Ami to take the lead and then followed. Right into the mass of defenders. Her blasters fired as she tried to pick out the enemy leaders. Perhaps if they could separate the troops from the officers, Osk company could swoop in and provide aid.

Shielded from sight, she could not see them, but she could feel them. She could smell them even, occasionally a slight sound of a branch snapping. Her sense all heightened she was a hunter on the prowl not to mention they left boot prints behind. The green of her coat kept her mildly camouflaged and the inner lining of the coat made her a blurred mess to mechanical visual sensors causing distortion. Though the metal in her swords and armor would sound her arrival before she could get close enough.

So, she stalked them from a distance, a hunter stalking its prey. She watched them from a tree line or more, so she felt them and smelled them. There were a lot of them, the count was hard to get exact without a visual or some other means of detection outside of smell and force sight. She needed to take them out before they could reach the base. She took a moment and then closed her eyes.

She knelt down to the ground and touched her palm to the ground and started chanting in her clan language. "Ta fram livets väv." And invisible web began to spiral outward from her hand across the ground stretching towards where she could sense the Platoon. As it reached them, she could feel each individual's life under her web she gave the command into their minds. "Sleep!" So would be strong enough to fight the mental command, others would fall into slumber but at least it would cut down the field of battle.

As soon as the spell was enacted and the commanded, she fearlessly stood up and walked in the direction of the platoon. Still unable to visually see them but because of her web she knew where they were. She pulled her pulled a thermal from her coat and popped the trigger and tossed it in their direction.

The battle had begun. The enemy's forces had moved into several key points to launch their assault on the Nest. Some areas were barely being hit, others were getting the brunt of the attack, and some sections had yet to see any action. From the reports filtering across the coms, our defense of the Nest was holding the enemy at bay for now. Our first action began quickly, though it was barely a scratch. Max barked his orders for the Tusk Missile Pods to counterattack, striking several of the enemy's vehicles and rendering them out of service. A few of the missiles hit ground troops and the carnage I witnessed was a scene I would never forget. Limbs and torsos and heads strewn across the battlefield. War is hell.

For now, we kept our offensive weapons in defense mode, both Max and I didn't want to overplay our hand or send our units into the fray until the scenario played out further. I ordered Max to send out a skirmishing party on the enemy's left flank to gauge its strength and to see if there were any weak marks we could exploit when we launched our counter assault. Max said he would personally lead the intelligence mission and darted off to gather some troops.

I called for Lt. Fex, a man I knew absolutely nothing about except Max personally vouched for him, managing to get him assigned to our unit. He was in command of the Bobcat Light Walkers. When he arrived, I said,
"I need you provide covering fire for Lt. Grendu's skirmishing line. Do not fully engage the enemy, just provide cover and protection. Dismissed."

Moments later, I saw a small group break off from the enemy's main force. I could only assume they too were looking for weaknesses to breach, and I ordered the few snipers afforded my unit to attack. So far, we were at a stalemate. The enemy couldn't effectively move forward for being pinned down and we were in no position to launch a counter for fear of leaving ourselves vulnerable. But I knew this wouldn't last, eventually the tides of battle would swing, and as Max put it: These are the times that separates the men and women from the boys and girls.

La'das Beiran stood at the tactical holo-table, watching as the feed showed Imperial Armor moving into position just out of weapons fire range. The attack had not yet begun, but the tension was strewn across his face as both hands gripped the table, watching every update that was fed to him through the long-range sensor readings.

"Open a channel to the Imperials" he instructed the Comm's Officer. Though the enemy had arrived, they had poised for the time, perhaps waiting for the Coalition to make the first move given their advantage in being heavily dug in within their home ground. It would take a true siege to break the bunker's defences, and then a violent slog through the underground levels as it would become a fight of infantry against infantry. Beiran wasn't typically a commander of this stature, yet Command from within the bunker had designated him as acting lead on the surface.

Glancing across to the comm's unit, Beiran nodded as the soldier signalled to him that the communications channel had been opened, to which he would soon address their guests. "This is Captain La'das Beiran to the approaching Imperial Force. You have entered the restricted airspace of the Tingel Arm Coalition. I advise that you cease your approach immediately. Failure to do so will result in a show of military force" he spoke firmly, authority in his words and as soon as he closed the channel, he looked back to the other officers within the surface outpost, he let out a slow exhale.

The Imperials had come looking for a fight and they would undoubtedly refuse his request, yet Beiran felt he had to make an attempt for the sake of the men and women who would otherwise be killed on both sides.

mojQqgT.png

The dense air of Maldra IV's surface was unmistakable. The historic conquest of the Bryn'adul was before his time however their terraforming had corrupted the world's natural beauty and after so many years, there was still strong evidence to show that they had once been there.

The mere thickness of the air would make it difficult for those to breath were they not wearing helmets and masks, and fortunately Balun had the aid of the Force should he become too fatigued during the fight to help him sustain his oxygen intake. None the less, he moved with purpose towards the frontlines where other Rebel Soldiers had dug in behind the cover of the trenches and sandbags meant to shelter them from small armsfire.

Just as he had found safety in one of the trenches, a blaster shot rang out across the skies overhead and suddenly all hell broke loose with the rebels returning fire in kind.

"Return fire!" Balun shouted as loudly as he could over the sound of the weaponsfire around him, "Dig into your positions, let the armour do the heavy work and help your squadmates. Work as a team, cover each other and let the enemy waste their resources trying to advance. Do not leave the trenches!" he instructed as he brought his Scout Rifle into both hands, raising it up over the sandbags and aiming down the sights, his index finger squeezing off several rounds against the distant imperial stormtroopers as they made their advance.

Didn't take long to hear the rumbles of battle echo throughout the planet, As EOTL forces began to engage TAC defenses in a frontal assault on the base, attacking it from all fronts

The perfect opportunity.

Didn't take his boys too long to get within spitting distance of the back of the base, reactivating their active camo to ensure they weren't immediately seen.

Taking point on a nearby elevated position overlooking the base, he switched his DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System to sniper mode, awaiting his troops to take position.

Still a decent amount, they did have a slight number advantage. but with some careful timing, it wouldn't matter.

His troops had gotten into position and awaited the signal.

He waited as one of the rebels entered his cross-hair.

Bang

A Blue bolt suddenly shot out through the field, Piercing the poor rebel's skull

"What the-" but before the rebel could react further, another blue bolt shot him through the stomach, then the head

As the rebels attempt to gather themselves, his troops release a relentless volley of blue plasma into the panicking rebels.

You couldn't call it a battle, more like shooting target dummies in a simulator

The Rebels attempted to counter-attack, but considering they couldn't see who they were fighting, they fired blindly into the field.

It wasn't long before most, if not all, of the rebels were dead on the ground

These guys weren't prepared for this type of combat.

but it made sense from a tactical standpoint, you sent the fodder out to guard the outside and kept the more veteran troops on the interior where the more precious resources were guarded.

He'd have to deal with them later.

for now, they deactivated the active camo, didn't want the suit to overheat.

They soon approached the entrance to the base, locked behind an encrypted door terminal

"Slicer, mind cutting this open? oh and while you're at it, make sure you get a map of the place."

The slicer nodded and got to work

It took him a few moments, which is to say 30 minutes

But once those 30 minutes were up, they were inside the facility

and he was ready to get to the fun part.

Another memory about father.

"All I ever wanted!" Velran Kilran Velran Kilran said to her at their palace home at New Alderraan. The planet where Kaanni was created and started her bond with her father. "Is to be remembered! By other people, by history! I want them to remember as a man who conquered the Galaxy and bent it to my will! Yet the Moff Council especially that prick Maldor Mecetti Maldor Mecetti is trying to protect the power of the Old Guard and their own interests!"

The old guard was referring to the former Empire. The one ruled by Runnik Fel before his death in the Second Great Hyperspace War. The moment he died, the Empire fractured leaving father who was a Moff New Alderaan cutoff and feeling abandoned. "My lovely daughter who could do no wrong!" Kaanni remembered Velran placing his hand. "One day I will be gone from this Galaxy. There's a lot I have yet to teach but you must know this! Trust no one! Not that obvious traitor Maldor, not the ambitious red head Teckla Tane Teckla Tane , not gadgeteer man Karl Von Strauss Karl Von Strauss ."

Kaanni remembered saying nothing taking in every word her father told her like a sponge absorbing water. Yet she can't shake the feeling that he wasn't telling her something. "Distrust and paranoia will grow and eventually consume you." Father's soft gentle brown eyes became duller, sullen. Did he know that he was going to-

"But those two are your greatest allies," Velran continued with a sad smile on his face. "Best to stay alive with both eyes open rather than die with both eyes shut."

Kaanni blinked while she walked towards the control room, though the Moff Council advised the Empress not to fight on the battlefield, she insisted. The citizens of the Empire needed to see that their Empress was not to be cowed by rebels who had killed countless of people including her father. "I have to be strong." Kaannii muttered to herself. "I NEED to be strong."

She kept saying that to herself, but it was hard to translate words into action. She took upon herself to not only lead the troops into battle but also take on any elite units on the field. "We're knocking on Hell's door troopers!" Kaanni yelled at her men: The Galactic Marines: 501st Helldogs. A unit comprised of the best Clone Troopers in the Empire handpicked Kaanni herself. "Grandmaster Tane has punched a hole for us! Now we charge!"

Southern Flank, near the Landing Pads
Tags: Rorsch Rorsch Severon Valgor Severon Valgor
Sayno's men:
"To all Military Personnel, this is Balun Dashiell. I'm heading to the surface to assist with frontline defense. Lock down every floor, seal all blast doors, and prepare ray shields in case the enemy breaches. All high-ranking officers, report to the Command Center. Command, prepare for a full wipe of all hard drives if it looks like we're losing ground. We cannot—under any circumstances—allow the Imperials access to our security network or intel. If they take this facility, it could compromise every critical site across the Arm."

Sayno heard the call. He would not be reporting to the command center. Instead, he sat in his walker awaiting what came next. A man who had once sworn fealty to the Protectorate of Lothal, now reduced to sitting amongst his fellow refugees.

The sound of a brush was all the filled the cabin. A brush, stroking across paper.

The metal protests.

A violent wrath comes forth.

We must push it back.

The man could only reflect on what had come before. Men had come pouring into the camps upon the declaration of the Coalition. Desperate warriors looking for glory. Some would find it on Lothal, but today was not a day of glory. Today was a day of survival.

Sayno peered up from his paper, to see his second in command awaiting orders.

"Of course." He said simply. "We must prepare."

The days before, the forest of the southern flank had been prepped. The trees lined with men, the company of marines known as Fynch's Finest placed at the front, using foliage as cover and vantage points. Silently, they waited. Waited for armor to push past them, and for infantry to shoot at. The plan was simple.

Cut off the advance, and trap them in a killbox.

Behind, the mechanized units of the Iron Men waited. The Bobcats were small enough to keep hidden within dense treelines, and Pumas were kept behind bushes, kept on low power mode until the moment was ready. Griffins were kept far in the back, awaiting large targets, while troops created hold-out points. In the rear of the formation, the trio of Tigers waited in siege mode, ready to act as the most immediate target of whatever hit them first., Sayno himself waiting for the moment things got ready inside his own Tiger, the Starhawk.

Far in the back, towards the landing pads themselves, outside of the range of immediate view, both the artillery platoon known as Starclawe, sat side by side with the Armor Company that would normally act as the forward fist of the Coalition, now acting as the final line of defense.

TL;DR:
Fynch's Finest are positioned in the front, acting as a hidden ambush element.
The Iron Men Mechanized are acting as a heavy defensive position, using hidden vehicles and hold out positions of infantry as a defensive line within the forest.
Starclawe, Tiger Claw, and Deep Purple are in the rear, acting as a final line of defense should the imperials achieve a breakthrough

"We've got smoke rounds, coming in." The team lead of Squad Skywalker called out over encrypted comms, back to the command vehicle.

"Confirm." Sayno said calmly. "All men, switch to thermal targetting."

Sayno watched from his Tiger as Storm Walkers and Assaults Walkers marched their way into the treeline, much too big to be hidden by any sort of foliage. Marching in a line, Sayno waited to give the order. He knew exactly where the line of his marines were stationed, and he waited until...

"Marines, strike!"

The rear Walker was struck with four HEAT rockets at once, two aiming at each leg, the the last two aimed right at the cabin. Then, almost immediately after, a Griffin fired it's massive assault gun from a descrete position, before all hell suddenly broke loose. The other griffins began picking targets in the front and back of the line, while marines rushed in and began firing on infantry with blaster and grenade launcher alike. Men in the trees began raining HE grenades on squads, while opening fire with particle rifles and blaster rifles alike.

Pillboxes opened up, turning a moment of serenity into a lightshow of blaster bolts in a split second.

Pumas suddenly opened up on Assault Walkers with automatic mass driver fire, firing hardened armor piercing rounds nearly 3 a second, while automatic grenade launchers opened up with impunity at Severon Valgor Severon Valgor 's forward men, using thermals and AR targetting to find men hiding within the dense foliage.

TL;DR:
Marines wait until the last moment, ambusing the rear AT-SW, then opening fire on the rear of the line with the rest of their firepower, as well as rear infantry.
Griffins open up on the Front of the line, as well as Pumas with Mass Driver Cannons, and HE automatic grenade launchers, using thermal imaging to overcome enemy stealth.
Pillboxes open up on infantry.

"Sir, we've got eyes on superheavy walkers, three times, poking out of the treeline." The commanding officer of Starclawe spoke over the radio. All that was heard was static, as the enemy ambush was well underway. The man, a Mon Calamari, Sergeant Ackbar, thought of his ancestor. The great admiral that had once led the Rebel Alliance to naval victory on Endor. He couldn't wait for orders. If that thing made it to the front line, it would quickly overwhelm the defensive line.

They needed to be decisive. They needed to act quickly.

"Ocelots, open fire on those walkers. Full rocket barrage, each Ocelot gets one walker."

"Copy sir! Acquiring targetting solutions!"

"Copy sir! Designating Targets Ichi, Ni, San."

"Copy, say the word when ready to fire!"

Sergeant Ackbar, a man who had once been chewed out during basic for his inability to stay in formation, called the order. "Fire."

The defeaning sound of 8 rockets firing from each of the three Ocelots sang through the air, targetting the Xerxes of Rorsch Rorsch 's back line. 12 Superheavy Ion Rockets soared over the treeline, followed by a second round of 12 Two Stage CHOMP rockets, flying high above the battlefield, before coming down right on top of the walkers with SABOT Seigurium Darts, and HEAT explosive charges. The plan was simple. Let the Ion rockets take out their shields, then hit them from above with CHOMPs to disable them. Four for each walker of each type, designed around killing AT-ATs.

Ackbar could only pray it would work. A man wishing to live up to his ancestor, and a family name that meant something to the galaxy at large.

TL;DR:
Sergeant Ackbar spots Enemy AT-IEs poking out of the treeline.
3x Ocelot designated each targets.
4 Superheavy Ion Rockets, followed by 4 CHOMP rockets are fired on each AT-IEs, hoping to quickly strike the heavy walkers.

"Gee Buttercup," Ami responded chuckling at her friend's indifference to the unit they were assigned. Sure, Ami changes Stormtrooper cores the same way a Clawdite frequently changes appearances but at least she remembers her unit. "I know you spooks are dispassionate about the rest of us grunts but come on! At least know your platoon!"

The Stormtrooper gave Myri a friendly nudge to her shoulder. "It's the 56th Greyskull Platoon!" Ami said. "A bunch of ragtags hailing from the farther edges of the Tion Cluster. Some of them even served in the old Empire!"

Ami chuckled. "I thought you would know that given how meticulous you can be every time we go on a mission!" She said. "Looks like I'm the one with the big brain now!"

Just then, Ami spotted a couple of enemies about to attack the platoon. "Chit Buttercup!" Ami said. "Eyes on! We got hostiles on the zone! What are we gonna do? Flank them?"

Myri blushed as Ami chastised her for forgetting the name of their platoon. It honestly was not something that the junior agent did often. She was usually sharp as a whip. But too many of these trooper missions combined with the feeling that she needed to keep Ami on a secure path, had taken their toll on Myri’s capacity for maintaining information. At least the mission was to shoot at everything that has an enemy designation. The blush made her wish that she wore a helmet like Ami did. But Myri found them incredibly uncomfortable. ”Us ‘spooks’ have feelings. Some of us care about you grunts…” Myri couldn’t have sounded convincing. The average trooper was of no consequence to Myri, Ami was the only one she would risk her life for. ”I’ve just got a lot going on in my head, alright? Besides, it's not like I’m used to working in your command structure. Company. Platoon. Squad. You’ve got names for all of them. How do you dense bucketheads keep them all straight?” Myri gave a chuckle and a wink at the last comment to hopefully make sure that Ami didn’t think she thought she was dumb. If she missed it, maybe the comment wasn’t too far off mark. Didn’t mean that Myri wouldn’t care for Ami any longer though.

”56th Greyskull Platoon. Fine. Whatever. Doesn’t matter. We’re out here on our own now…And they never really were my platoon.” They weren’t bad folks, but Myri did her best not to make too many attachments. Ami was pushing it on the trooper side of things. A whole platoon. That would be a disaster.

”Your head is certainly getting bigger,” Myri responded with a smirk. She couldn’t have such a back and forth like this with any. At least not since she was a kid with her sister. It was nice. ”Let’s get back on mission right?”

Ami not surprisingly was ready to move at the first sight of an enemy. What first was just a small band turned out to be a large marching defensive army. ”Hit their flank. Heck yes!” Myri exclaimed to try to match Ami’s energy. Her eyes searched the area and found an outcropping of trees. She now regretted bringing something more heavy duty than her pistols, but when she was choosing her equipment she assumed that they were going to get into the base quickly. Lugging a sniper rifle through an enemy base when the odds of being outnumbered was so huge didn’t seem smart. Guess this mission was proving that Myri still had a lot to learn. ”Find cover and take pot shots. Hope to draw a smaller number from their ranks away from our platoon.”

Myri didn’t wait for Ami to agree. She started towards the treeline hoping the range wouldn’t be too much for her blasters. When they reached the goal she hid herself amongst the trees as best she could and opened fire.
