The Roche Trials

A couple hundred mando loyalist civilians < Billions murdered via asteroid. High fives and medals given afterwards.

It's okay guys, civilian deaths are acceptable when you throw asteroids at them and they aren't loyal to you.

But all joking aside I'm really looking forward to see how this plays out. Can we have a trial for Larraq next?

[member="Ali Hadrix"], what's the point of this entire thread then? You should have stated in your first post that the trial was going to be pre-determined. In fact, it would have been helpful if you'd been clearer a long time ago that your character was blameless for anything bad that was happening. Now we've got six pages of posts from people that are calling BS on this whole affair, and you've managed to piss off a lot of people who are going to try and hasten the demise of the Republic.
The ongoing majority logic for this and Lasedri's story is that IC actions have IC consequences. All the OOC arguments with you and Mantic Dorn for both have been "It doesn't matter what you think, this is what I meant, and therefore the only thing that should matter." It doesn't work for all of the writers who have invested time and creative energy. You're slighting them and telling them their work means nothing.
If this whole thing matters to no one but yourself and your character that's fine, I guess, but I agree with those who say you should just write your Private RP thread and let the rest of us work on trying to pick up the pieces, because I guarantee people who are in opposition to this are now angry and gunning for us all.

Additionally how many members of the faction will be leaving due to all of this? Writers get tired of drama and will look to other factions .

I would like to point out that I'm the one who said that all of this was wrong in the first place. From MY standpoint it's wrong regardless. My comment was coming from their standpoint. I think that was obvious.

I honestly find it hilarious that the mandos are like "Blood for the innocent! Revenge!" When they threw a freaken asteroid into a planet and killed billions. Then the guy who did it got the Medal of Honor. Or when Strider and every other mando just murdered the crap out of civilian mine workers on Muunlist and everyone was like "thumbs up strider! That'll teach those civilians not to switch sides when facing execution from the primeval!"

Dromund Kaas never had a population over one billion.

The Republic opted to look the other way after Larraq's butchering of Dromund Kaas. If they wanted to try him for war crimes, the opportunity was missed. His crimes were at least two years ago by now. It's not even really the fault of anyone here that he didn't get put on trial, mind you. The major player base and administration of the Republic is almost completely different from what it was at that point. It's all different people.

It's easy to see why the Republic opted not to get involved at the time: it was politically inconvenient. Having finally managed to destroy the Sith Empire, they're not going to turn around and piss off the Mandalorians by trying to prosecute one of their leaders.

Nowadays, the Chazwa Rump State has absolutely no ground to stand on in prosecuting others for war crimes. It's a failing government and any attempt to throw someone else before a jury for crimes that have already faded from public memory will just be seen as a failing attempt to stay relevant.

Not arguing with you there, I'm just having a ball with all this. Like mandos being humanitarians is actually cracking me up, no disrespect or anything intended. I just actually find it funny

*looks at Mandos being humanitarians*

*looks at Jedi tag*

*looks at Dredge*

*looks at comment again*

Mandalorians value family and honor. Not sure why they would just let people starve and die before them. I could be wrong.

I don't want to sound like an ass here, believe me I don't cause I'm having way too much fun. But I don't think mandos value family and honor all that much, it wasnt very honorable when strider and other mandos straight up murdered civilian mine workers on Muulist because they had to work for the primeval now. Even as far as worthy combat goes that's like going to the grocery store and murdering the clerk because they switched your favorite brand of oatmeal. :p

Are they being hypocritical in the extreme by getting bent out of shape over this? Oh yeah.

The thing is, Mandalorian honor has always been pragmatic and one sided. That tends to happen when you spend a few thousand years working for the highest bidder. It basically amounts to "don't screw over your family if you can help it" and "don't screw over a client so long as they pay on time." Anything else is purely window dressing.

So when one of them turns Jedi and gets spaced, and someone in her family gets powerful upset over the issue, it makes perfect sense for everyone else to put on the crocodile tears. They can act all indignant and stuff because they know it gives them an opportunity to fleece the Republic for all its worth. It's a scam, and it's a scam they can pull of because right now, they're united and they're winning.

Now from the Republic's point of view, trying Ali still makes sense. What happened there should not have happened. But the Mandos trying to throw their weight around would do well to remember this day when the situation is reversed. Because rest assured, there will come a time when someone has them bent over a barrel. It probably won't be the Republic, but it'll be someone, and they'll remember what happened today.

"The Mandos" isn't quite an accurate depiction of the situation. At this point, it's some of the mandos, primarily the family of the dead one, and and some others who were looking for an excuse. Larraq was initially trying to end this peacefully after the invasion. Unfortunately, or fortunately if you want to write some more war stories with them, that ship has likely sailed.

I know this not the main topic on this conversation, but is it worth putting [member="Cloudburner"] on trial as well?

Also rebooted this character as a healer, if you need me on anything give me a pm as sabrina

Well, now that we've figured out this is happening, the next step is to get the personnel involved. I'm going to assume the idea is to go with the panel of judges since there's no way in hell that you'll get twelve folks together for a jury.

Matthew and Janira, you guys might want to sit down and figure it out from here, since this is basically your show. [member="Mantic Dorn"], [member="Lady Kay"], you guys are the GR's OOC leadership, so you'd probably be the best bet to start coordinating with the SSC and the GA to see who they want to bring in for their representatives, as well as figuring out who wants to sit for the Republic.

His methods are a bit unorthodox...

But I'm sure if you bring this up IC something will be done.

Now lets stop this discussion and allow people to get back on topic :)

After talking with Ali, we have come to a conclusion. We would be happy to embrace a fair, organic, non-pre-determined trial thread to try Ali Hadrix. Ali has agreed to let the pieces fall as they will no matter where the trial ends up, be it guilty or innocent. As I know it, this is what we all have been arguing about for some time. Now that we've been able to establish it, it will be a simple matter of finding those who would like to be involved...again.
