ENEMIES: Her Past
It was truly horrible being back here. A time in her life which she had pushed from her might and sought to squash from existence. In her less youthful years she had actually met back up with the illusive Mr Cordel, forgave him of his transgressions. Coming face to face with him hadn't been difficult at all. But standing here... Standing here was haunting. As though she had been transported back in time.
She didn't move. She simply stared.
And then a hand settled against her shoulder and she practically jumped from her skin, body turning just a touch before she realized who it was. For a second she clutched her abdomen, then let out a small sigh, before managing a weak smile.
"Nothing is wrong, dear brother... This place is..." She wet her lip, before looking across the room. The staircase remained in tact, and without another word she made her way toward them. It would be a struggle, getting up to the next floor, but she had to see. For a second her eyes lingered toward the basement door. A sincere shudder worked its way through her.
She wasn't quite ready for that. Not yet.
