Nowhere to Run
A breath left the teen, allowing relief to flood through her veins. Daiya glanced at Peyton, then down to the pouch set on the table. Caution still tempered her approach, but as she reached the pouch, the glistening liquid inside the stim canisters drew her eye to them. Reassured by the freedom fighter's words, and Daiya had little reason to doubt them, her hand reached toward one of the stims.
No, two.
"Astral. These could come in handy." Daiya grinned at Peyton, playing with the slender capsules between her fingers. More than once, the young shadowrunner could have used these in a tight spot if they'd been known. As long as she wasn't going to have another vice to pay for. "Thanks."
It didn't take long for others to rise to the challenge, just not the one Daiya was expecting from Peyton today. The woman had more than stims tucked up her sleeve, assuming a posture the young shadowrunner was used to from CorpSec. Her eyes narrowed in on the stun baton, and she took a step back.
Ruby's voice distracted the teen, drawing her back to the showdown starting up in front of her. Her mouth opened in response, giggles coming instead of words to see Ruby face off against Johnny Diamonds. As eager as Daiya was to watch that match, she caught Samnai out of the corner of her eye. Imbued with the confidence of the stims rolling between her fingers, she marched over to poke the woman in the chest.
Peyton had asked them to pair off.
"You and me, how 'bout it?" Daiya demanded, slipping the stims in a pouch on her utility belt. She glanced over at Peyton, eyeing the stun-baton in the freedom fighter's hands, and pressed her lips together. Her fingers lamented the grip of her blasters as the young shadowrunner pulled them out in full view of Peyton and Samnai, holding them lightly to avoid any implication, and tossed them over onto the padding of her sweatshirt.
Just in her armor now, Daiya felt better protected than most against the older, bigger woman in front of her. Her mouth grinned wide as she asked, "You game?"
If only Daiya didn't let her mouth lead over her brain.
No, two.
